Did Samsung screw up by not putting 2gb of ram on GS3? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not really 1gb is more than enough, but not less.
besides android manages RAM pretty well

Yep
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

Having around ~300MB of usable free RAM is enough for me.

No doing your research won't do you any good either.
Samsung put 2gb of ram in because without it the Adreno and lte radio require about 400mb of ram alone. Example, the HOX only has 600mb of ram and because of that has multitasking issues compared to its tegra 3 brother who has dedicate video ram and a full 1GB of ram for use to Android.

So the Tegra3 and Exynos has video ram which Adreno don't have?

IMO exynos use memory from the 1 Gb.

I've closed the thread. There are plenty of discussion threads.

This post is ripe to becoming a pissing contest but I think a lot of rezound owners are VERY happy with the specs of this phone.
Honestly I could have any mobile device I decided was worth me investing the kind of time I spend with them. Right now with what's available, the rezound is the best for me. The proc is very strong and stable at 1.8 on the stock kernel, and I really don't see even being able to take advantage of that much power much less needing more.
If it had an s4 that would be fine with me too, but the 8660 is so solid and stable I don't see any need in wishing for something else. I'm not sure about the beats comment if that was a statement or question. I don't have a lot to say about beats except there seems to be a correlation when HTC started marketing beats the userbase of their phones seemed to gain a lot of less intelligent than average users.

It might have a lower resolution display with pentile technology but pussing a fourth less pixels than our device with a better processor means the incredible 4g is probably going to be screaming fast.

You say that now, but once you have a Rezound, it'll be hard to use anything with a lower resolution. I know for a fact I'll never want a phone again with anything less than 720p.
And about the processors, the S4 is good, really good, but not too much of an upgrade from the S3. Once the S5 "Krait" processors come out, thosell be something to drool about. Look at their specs on that wiki page someone linked to, they're gonna be awesome. Especially that upgrade from adreno 2xx gpus to adreno I think 320.

No, normal behavior. It only comes on as needed. (well, should.)
Should come on when the load on the processor increases more. Check the Times tab up at the top right of that screen after you've done something processor intensive like loading up a game. Will probably show a few stats for the second core as well.
Forcing the second core on is not recommended either.

yep. second core is only used when needed. like a computer, the phones first core is primary but if it feels it cant hold up it will turn on the second one.
Some processors are designed to use all cores at all times.
This one only uses the second core when it's under heavy load.

ICS could definitely use it. My games are more choppy and laggy since ICS. I know GB couldnt utilize second core because the kernel didnt support it. Youd think it would try to use it with the Sense lag... Lol
In my experience, undervolting doesn't do much to improve battery life. All these new Sense kernels are fun to play with, but they haven't done a thing to improve performance for me. And I've tried all the recommended settings that are supposedly great.
And yes, they may work fine... But I can't say any of them were noticeably better than stock. In fact, most were worse.
But, the flasher in me will continue to experiment. It's just what we do.

How much RAM?

Okay loving the specs so far but how much RAM does this phone have? Knowing how sense 4 was such a resource hog I sure hope this phone has 2 gigabytes of RAM. But seeing how they left RAM off the spec sheet I'm sure it only has 1.

Iphone 4 had a single core CPU, the 4S has a dual core one. Thats a pretty big upgrade
The 2100mAH battery, the 1.7GHz CPU speed and a real JellyBean system is more than worth it for me, not to mention the 64GB of storage.

I think it would be possible with the quad core 2gb ram model as it has the same specs as the note 2 and that has been seen at 2ghz
im what Willis was talking about
Feel free to try it but I have a feeling that the phone will reboot because of overheating buy try it and let us know...
Intact why the f would you want it a 2ghz our phones are phones not blumming computers ... most mobile games don't even touch our phone... but like I said try it ... it would be a gimmick type thing

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Siyah Kernel allow up to 1.8Ghz . I believe it is possible however I do not believe it's safe. Overclocking that much might cause the device to over heat not forgetting the Battery drain issue that you will be facing as the battery isn't optimized to endure that power .

Should I replace galaxy s2 with the galaxy note n7000?

I am so confused to whether go for the galaxy note because of it's enormous screen but
according to others on web galaxy note is a bit slower/laggy than the galaxy s2.
Some people on a forum said that this lag is due to its GPU because it has to handle a lot of pixels
what should be your suggestion..........?
Thanks for reading please reply as well

gnote is horrible laggy compared to s2 (CM10.1), i just flashed a linaro build -03 optimization w/e on a friend's note(CM10.1) =P
but ram is always around 400~500mb, and the gpu has a lot of work to do for that big screen, it might not be that bad
