[Q] looking for a dev with navigation knowledge - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please be gentle with me...I've had this new app idea for about six months and there's nothing like it. It would be a great step forward for navigation but I don't think I can do it all in my own. Let's just say it would involve a lot of big companies finding a way to collaborate there resources for the bettering our lazy mind.I'd appreciate any suggestion and I'll look into the whole NDA (non disclosure) approach. Thank you again for your time. I swear, it's on of the last ideas that have yet come into fruition.

What's the difference between the development forum and Q&A forum? Ask yourself that the next time you post.

I mean really? Wouldn't it be easier to just answer and let the thread die?
1.x is Froyo and 2.x is Gingerbread.
Remix means it's themed and Stripped means most of the Sense elements are removed.
Question answered, thread over.

Thanks for answering in a concise manner eris. Professional and to the point. The XDAFPD around here is getting really annoying.

I for one offered to help you, just not in this section. Telling people to F... off doesn't help either, in fact it's worst. While people are tired of getting flamed for posting in the wrong section people are also tired of sorting through Q&A threads to find threads that actually have to do with development, that's what we have sections for. I for one try to be civil with these sort of things, and while it's primarily the job of the moderators to move and or close threads as community members we have to police ourselves as well. The rudeness on both sides should stop, but....people should post in the correct sections too
Edit: I see the mods moved the thread, all is well that ends well.

(Q) How to disable the backlight on 4 bottom buttons

Is there a way to disable the backlights on the 4 heaptic buttons (menu, home, bsck, search)...I really dislike it and had the option to remove on the Epic Touch (like the feature, not the phone). Please help with suggestions, I'm running Alien rom also if that might help!

The only response you deserve : Post in the Q&A Section of the forums.
Download spareparts+ for hepatic, to turn the lights off, a poster here at xda had a app that i couldnt find on the market i think it was led off or something. Be aware, as you can see posting in the wrong section will get ppl to hate you.... i on the other hand, like to help, not bash just a heads up..

However, when you enable peoples bad behaviour, they will never stop. And when other people see the same thing, they will continue the bad behaviour.
Please don't enable these people.
Maybe he's posting from his phone. No q&a section on the app.

My word...I didn't know you guys take this so serious, I thought a forum was too instruct and help. Not criticize over petty stuff, this is my first posting and it was done on my Photon using the xda premium app. I see why Dev's leave forums now, y'all people too rude. It only took a simple calm response, this is definitely my last posting

Posting questions in the dev section is akin to putting all the pages in a tech manual in random order and expecting people to find what they need. I abandoned ALL Evo development because of all the questions that got posted in the dev section after the price drop. This was days away from releasing what would have been a webtop equivalent for the Evo PC Project.
Thread move request placed.

[REQ]Need ideas for freelance android app development[REQ]

Hi folks,
I am interested in starting freelance android application development. I have a year of experience in developing android applications and background services. It was only recently that i decided, I needed to make some money using this skill, but unfortunately I'm from India and hence i cant publish paid apps to the market. Also, you guys are the best source of ideas for apps. So start demanding your ideas here and i could get down to realizing the best ones. I don't plan to charge for the applications, but donations would be welcome. Of course, that would come into the picture only once i have the apps ready for you.
Looking forward to your demands.
Regards,
manrock

Sorry I'll keep that in mind
There's an entire huge thread full of app ideas. It's not been active lately that I know of, but I'm sure some of the ideas are still good.
If you don't get much response here, see if you can find the thread. If I can find it I'll post it here for you.
For more recognition, I'd change the title of your thread to show that you're looking for app requests. More people with an idea for an app will open this thread with a better suited title.

It's a silly idea... Why don't create a manual/guide for android phones?? I explain: an app with subcategories and sections for model of phone With XDA guides (how to root, change bootanimation, etc) periodically updated.
Just an idea

Should there be a Noob Q&A?

Being a bit of a newb myself. I wondered if anyone agrees that there should be at separate Q&A for noob (novice) questions only.
Therefore more experienced users can filter out stupid questions that even I think is ridiculous. Leaving the Q&A for real problems, rather than simple and stupid questions like "how do I flash a new modem" etc. I propose this idea in all platforms and models.
I felt as a true noob, some time ago that people are very quick to snap at noobs. Leaving them feeling like quitting and giving up. As a community member I feel this is an issue. Having a Q&A for noobs I hope would not leave noob questions unanswered.. just only given advice from willing and helpful members. Leaving experienced or dare I say selfish user the freedom they desire, and the noobs that extra bit of support.
After all, this is a community and we are "supposed" to be helpful. And we all started without any knowledge atall. I am eager to hear your responses.. both noobs and pro devs.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thank me if you agree or better still, post your thoughts. Thanks for your patience in reading my rant

I don't think it's in the intrests of XDA to segregate people, and brand them as "noobs" just because they are new. I've seen alot of new users learn very quickly and become very respected developers

To be honest most ppl brand themselves as noobs. I feel I am learning very quickly, currently learning java. Some people just don't have the patience. Can't be bothered to search. As I have learnt in my experiences that you have to be very patient and start all over again often. As for people who don't search.. that's just pure laziness. Ah well the strong will prevail..

instead we can create a thread to educate people...like in the title they can include a tag like [noob question]

There's a difference between being "noob friendly" and catering to the minority of what is already a minority. Let's not forget XDA's origins as a DEVELOPER site. The directions provided by devs are almost always complete enough that anyone willing to put in 5 minutes worth of effort to use the search button is able to figure it out.

I agree that we shouldnt be spoon feeding people. I have gathered knowledge in android and developing massivly over the past few weeks. And i have xda to thanks. Already a senior member and learnt so much more than what i could have ever imagined.
Android is the future! And xda is playing a big part in molding its future. So a massive thumbs up!
I did however encounter some very rude members how could have easily directed me to the rules sticky. We do not need noob Q&A. We jus need to give polite gentle nudges in the right direction, if they are just plain lazy...
Throw em in with the pack of bitter xda "originals" for all i care. as they are branding xda as a "fix my fone" forum. Not as what i hear it was back in the day..
