I just changed my German T-Ameo to WM6 (HTC ROM, engl.)
-> after unlocking it with Athenaunlock.
Looks pretty and works fine so far, but I would prefer to use german language.
Any chance?

Looks like we will need to wait for an official T-Mobile Germany ROM. In an email from June, a customer service representative told me that it will come in Q3/2007, so it might take till the end of september in the worst case. Of course, we are all optimists, aren't we?

Well, seems so.
I'm still hoping HTC will release a german ROM first. I don't need the branded stuff.
And the goodies from T-Mobile are included in the extended Rom, that is located on the ftp server...
If I really need something of that I'm able to install it later.

Cool If it helps, you could try to download the Windows Mobile 6 German emulator images for free at Microsoft, this should give you the MUI-files. However, the tricky part is the keyboard, I did not manage to set it to German QWERTZ-Layout yet, maybe a DLL has to be exchanged for that.

Looks pretty and there you can adjust the layout for multiple languages.

Well this will change the physical keyboard layout but not the soft keyboard (available by clicking the keyboard symbol on the bottom of the screen) layout. There i still have qwerty. Any hints how to change this ?

Ich have a Ameo from T-Mobile Germany too, but I would like to backup my original ROM, in case I want my T-Mob WM05 back (e.g. for guarantee)
Is a rom backup possible? Or should I wait for the official T-Mob WM06 Update?

No, but there's a collection of ROMs on the XDA Developers FTP server, including the T-Mob Ameo German ROM which is the one that shipped with the device.

hey, thx for the answer. So that means that I can "downgrade" my Ameo from WM06 to WM05 evertime? Or is there some secrets I should know, before I do something wrong with my Ameo?

Yes. However, there is one exception: If you use olipro's unlocker to remove the Simlock/Netlock and the CID lock, there is currently no way back to the old T-Mobile SPL bootloader. This is no problem for going back to WM5, but anytime you set the device in bootloader mode, you can see the "olipro" string in the SPL version which will cause you problems if you need to use your warranty.
There are however WM6 roms in the thread available which are already packaged for T-MOB 005 devices like your Ameo, so you do not need to apply the CID/Simlock remover if you only want WM6.
With or without unlocker, you can flash back to WM5 without any problems. It seems that flashing is more stable if you remove your Mini-SD/SDHC card first if one is inserted.
hey, ich schreib jetzt mal auf deutsch um sicher zu gehen, nichts falsch zu machen. Hab noch nie einen PDA geflasht und mein Ameo ist mein erster und daher habe ich nicht soviel Erfahrung/Peilung.
Ich will mein T-Mob WM05 einfach nur auf WM06 updaten und die Möglichkeit haben zurück zum originalzustand zu kehren, wie du schon sagst, wegen der Garantie.
Mein WM05 läuft auf dem Ameo ziemlich langsam und die Menüführung ruckelt leicht. Daher möchte ich gerne WM06 ausprobieren...
Womit mache ich das also am besten?

Flashing is very easy, just download the T-MOB 005 version of the ROM here:

Download, extract, and execute the RomUpgradeUtility.EXE file included. Make sure you have a working ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center-Connection (Both XP and Vista work fine) and wait for about 10 minutes. Be careful: Flashing completely erases the main memory, so do make a backup to your Microdrive or Storage Card.

I meant your personal data (appointments, phone book entries, files, etc.). T-Mobile has a tool called Sprite Backup on the CD that came with the Ameo, you can use this to backup your personal data and restore it after you do the upgrade.

I did not backup my ROM, because the "origina shiped T-Mobile WM5 ROM" is downloadable from the FTP Server. If you want to go back just download it, before you update to WM6...
I flashed Doomkernel and the wifi module. Wifi doesn't work. I flashed again the wifi module but wifi still not working. I flashed back to stock kernel but wifi still not working.
I installed official firmware through PC Compagnion then wifi works. But in a custom rom Wifi doen't work...
Can somebody help me???

Doomkernel V6 wifi modules need to be applied via CWM recovery. Appling via xrec won't work in some cases.

I flashed via CWM too and my rom is Achotjan SEMC Debrand Engine....
maybe u lost something. just try some others. remember it: when u flashed ROM ，reboot your phone ，then flash the WIFI patch. if it still does not work ，ok ，reboot your phone into X recovery to fix permissions. good luck ，and a nice Christmas ，happy newyear for you all ！（如果你不认识英文，你可以来机锋论坛。

then gone to /system
then opened the Folder "Kernel"
then the folder with ur kernel number : 2.6.29 - ......... , gone in it and copied the file : wifi.ko and pasted it on the folder
/system/lib/modules
. Hope to be helpful for them who needs ,
btw. if im turnin ON the phone , and click to back button quickly, it stucks on sony ericsson symbol and doesn't went into xrec...
any ideas why?

Do u have root Explorer ? When u open the folder /system . .. Is there written "r/o" or "r/w" ?
I flashed original / stock Rom again , rooted with flashtool(zergRush exploit ) , installed xrecovery (via flashtool) , so far no problems , .. But we wanna make that phone smooth and fast , so I installed root explorer which i backed up to my pc , AND went into these folders : /system and clicked Mount r/w
Opened /system/libs/modules , and also mounted as r/w ,
And then the file "wifi.ko" take a look at the pics
Then flashed the Kernel of doom , and voila , wifi worked for me
But still xrec wasnt there and when i tried to go into it at startup
So im on Stock with Fps Uncap doing well for me
Try this and I reaaally hope this works for u and u still have access to xrec

Schau mal nach , bei mir stand r/o = heisst: read only, und als ich dies zu rw umgewandelt habe , UND , als im Ordner /system/libs/modules die Datei " wifi.ko " auch irgendwie nur rr oder so in etwa war (zuerst oben Mount r/w klicken damit du wifi.ko bearbeiten kannst!) , hab ich sowas draus gemacht :

Hello everyone
I have a problem... I got a Sony Tablet S as permanent test device from Sony Austria. But I live in Germany. Now it seems that these sony services VideoUnlimited and Plantation store aren't available in Austria and Android Market seems to check only an internal regional code because of missing sim card. So how can I change region of my tablet (already rooted) to get these apps officially with instant updates?
Changing build.prop didn't work because I already copied one of an German identical model onto mine.

I think its possible with the prop file. because when I had my play I used to change it to get games from Japan store

Editing the build.prop should have worked. Are you pulling the build.prop to your computer and editing it in Notepad++, then pushing it back via adb or droid explorer? Or, are you mounting /system as rw, then chmod 666 the build.prop via terminal emulator, then using script manager, edit the proper values directly on the device, saving and rebooting? If one of those isn't the method you used, then try one of those 2 and report back.
I tried editing it and I copied a complete build.prop from another Tablet S from Germany.... It didn't work

region of your tab = SKU values.
take a closer look at /configs/region.zip
but be careful, dont mess your device
you should propably easy change it
oh and remember - make backup first!!!

Why do i know that?
In Real Messaging is Nachrichten in German. But Sony forgot it and now is between all German words the word Messaging. Then I changed all Messaging in strings.xml to Nachrichten, but it seems, you forgot it, because it`s still Messaging. But its good that you got the Compiler to work, on my old PC there was always an Error. But Thank You for your try, you got a Thanks. But when its Nachrichten, you will get the Dropbox Space.

Hmmm I've still got the decompiled version, I've just compared your strings.xml to the one in there and they are the same. I'm going to make some modifications to the english version see if its changing in there.
In my german version, every Messaging is Nachrichten. Sony also wrote in the german version messaging.
So plese use my strings.xml! delete the one in values-de, and past my one please

Yes, I'm saying their already replaced. Well looks like its not compiling correctly - I've just tried editing the english values and no changes, trying to sort it out now.

I'm trying to download the ota zip file for jellybean. the uploaders have uploaded it on the mega.co.nz site.
the file starts downloading but reaches around 70-90% and then starts to download again. its really irritating
can someone please inform the uploaders in developer thread??
