Battery on cm9 based roms suck horribly!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

OK this is seriously ridiculous! My battery is dying so fast its seriously pissing me off! I was over getting something to drink 10 min ago and while I was it dropped 3 - 4 percent. Then as I'm typing this. It dropped 2 more. While the screen us off its alright. I have ucle2 right now. Can someone help me out? Can someone suggest of what to flash? The cm9 kang version was a whole lot better than this

1st don't vent on the forum, no offence but its not smart to start bashing on roms if you're asking for help
2nd I've personally had the best battery life on CM9 based roms so its on your end
Check brightness levels GPS background services etc..
3rd no one is forcing you to flash these roms
Don't complain, flash another or enjoy stock
XDA is not a help hotline

I've gotten 4.5 hours screen time using hotwire's kang and around the same using fj's old cm9 build so it's more than likely a problem on your end.
However, I've noticed that gpsserviceprovider sometimes doesn't shut off completely after using gps and is and preventing the phone from going into deep sleep. Sometimes I would go to sleep with a 100 % charge and wake up with an 86% charge. Searched around and seems to happen on some cm9 roms. A reboot solves the issue though.
Your best bet is to install betterbatterystats and check your wakelocks. Probably some app causing it on your end.

Man I get best battery life with cm9 and aokp
99% of the time its the user and not the rom
Good luck

Lmao I got the BEST battery from dmans CM9
You guys are all doing something wrong
Or really expecting battery life to last 10 hours and 5hours alone are on screen time alone
Sorry to burst your bubble but it won't happen
All these screen shots on the threads showing 8-12hr battery life times are from probably minimal usage... on a 8hr work shift with mediocre usage I get 50% left
People its a big screen it uses a lot... A LOT of battery... these roms work miracles but if you want your device to last very long time on battery us it minimally... that's what its its all about

I'm not a noob. I'm using the same apps, the same usage, etc and getting VASTLY poorer battery life on CM9. I love CM9, it's my go-to rom, I'm just saying there's definitely an issue of some kind on the CM9 builds for the Note, or at least on some Notes.

Lol well I was in your boat for awhile. However, I finally just got annoyed with having to pay attention to my battery. I don't like not having full sync and location on etc, now I don't have to worry about it. Honestly, the size difference isn't even noticeable anymore. And the benefit outweighs the negative for me personally.

saurom wins best battery in my books
i went on a craze testing different roms specifically for battery life. the best battery i got was using saurom gb rom. 1.5 days!! i would say i was aiming for light/moderate usage at the time.
i got decent usage on seraphim ics rom, more on the heavy usage side when i was testing this rom. little over 12hrs. i love it graphically and how smooth ics is, but since im on my phone alot saurom suited my power taste better.
to save as much battery as possible, my config:
- antutu battery saver app
- brightness always at a minimum
- vibrate always off, silent at office, sound only everywhere else
- screen filter app in the dark
- wifi off (test purposes, its a given u'll save more when on wifi)
- auto sync off (im always on it so refreshing apps i need on the fly was good enough, i dont always need to know who emails or facebooks me every sec)

ICS ROM with best battery life

I was just wondering based on everyone's experience (especially those who have tried many different ROMs). Can you also mention how many ROMs you've tried?
I used to use stock ICS with all T-Mo bloatware and battery life is just horrible. Now, that I've rooted and use Fast Amaze ROM without all the bloatware and I can see a much better battery life. So, I am just wondering what would be the ROM you'd recommend that has the best battery life...
Thank you for the helps

I say make your own "rom". Learn what it is that devs do, use trial and error to figure out what tweaks make a real difference(read a roms tweaks, do research into how to make those changes).. remove bloat, modify the build.prop.. the best rom is the one you build yourself. And you learn a lot more too.
But that is just my opinion.

ok we all know this but why?

we all know that the battery life is crap on the amaze. It's no surprise. What I've been wondering since is why? why is it such a battery hog. In terms of CPU and ram, it's only slightly higher than the sensation and the sensation has a great battery life. I know the sensation and Amaze are completely different phones and hardware is completely different, but what makes the amaze have such a bad battery life? anyone ever able to figure this out?

JuiceDefender on Note 2

Anyone else using it? I've used it since OG Droid, and it's always the first app installed on any phone I get. It claims to be giving me 2.01x battery life, and with any other phone I believed it but I'm seeing people post 2 days no charge and I get about 1.25 days with very heavy use, unless I'm at work (12hr shifts 4 days a week). Thoughts? Some people claim it's junk, and I'm not so sure with a battery as big as ours we need it, or if there is a better alternative? I mean we already have a Battery Saving Mode...

I personally don't think it's needed on this phone because how long the battery already lasts and I like my smartphone to stay smart. But on my lg spectrum I used deep sleep battery saver, it was pretty good.
Also on a side note time up isn't as important as screen time. I could get days if I didn't use the phone, but if you are always on it 12 hours is pretty good

Thanks! I had a red evolution x that I sold that was well modded. I still miss that car lol. I use deep sleep battery saver with the profile set to balanced.

I'm currently at 32% since last charge. I'm at one day 3 hours, with five hours of screen time. I use one power guard.

Please be sure to mention the carrier as well. I'm sure there will be some (hopefully minor) differences.

Its not bad for having the screen on for 4+ hours, at least compared to the GNex.

I hope this was with full brightness!? If not, this is poor battery life by 2013 standards.

Well you guys will have to consider that I played a ton of YouTube videos during that time. It wasn't just screen on from texting and light stuff.

Just got the phone yesterday. The phone was already at 80%. So started using it, before it went to 5%, I had screen on time of 5.5 hours and total usage was 12 hours.. Screen brightness was between 30 to 100%. This was both on wifi and 4G.

Don't take it as personal criticism. We're very appreciative of you sharing with us your battery experience, and we hope you continue to do so over the next little while to see how it settles in. It's just that in my opinion this isn't a good start. Watching YouTube is actual less battery intensive than texting or other things where you're actually touching the screen. Keep posting your battery stats. It's very helpful.

I took no offense, I was able to get through a normal day and then some, so I was impressed. It has been better than my S4 battery life so far.
But I will definitely keep updating with more charging cycles. Thanks!

Do you have evidence of your claim that texting and touching the screen uses more battery then streaming video? Don't take it as personal criticism, but I think you made that up. I get 4+ hours of screen on time on my Nexus 4 browsing, texting and emailing. If I stream Netflix I get 2 hours before the phone dies.
