Noob ICS question - Motorola Droid RAZR

The Razr is a very alien device for since it has so much limitations and need a lot of "winging it" in my opinion being a Nexus user and all.
But here's the question. How can I just flash ICS on this Verizon Razr as easy as possible.

Depends. Usually you can just go to settings, and about phone, and then go to check for updates.. That should upgrade you to ics if you are on the stock gingerbread.

OK well if I'm already rooted with a Verizon Droid RAZR with the RAZRX rom on it already. Then what do I do to get ICS on board????

as long as ur running stock rom it'll do just fine.. if ur not running stock rom reflash it, and then do wut previous post says settings>about phone> search for updates.. u'll have to re root tho... use matty's 1.7 just did it on mine and works fine..root access and all.
Edit: I just re-read post to make sure i covered everything.. since u have the razrx rom, (th3ory's, i was running too...one word... AWESOME!) flash back to the err.. what was last update...902 i think... just reflash stock rom, and search for OTA of ICS.. it's wut i did..

Alright so you are gonna want to do a search either here on XDA, or a google search and look for the stock RAZR 2.3.6 rom. And follow the instructions to install it and then as I said before go to settings, about phone, and click check for updates. And if that doesn't work tell me and I will give you instructions to install the stock ics manually.

I can assure you that ICS on the Razr display is as sexy as it gets and it's quite nice with Motorola's changes to it. They seem to have left it relatively untouched, but what they did change was for the better in my opinion. If you don't like what they changed, I believe there are quite a few ROMs for a more pure ICS experience, and it will still be quite sexy

What other ROMS r there.. I live the sexyness of the new ICS..just don't like all the bloat..
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium

As for using the stock ics, bloat can be disabled, you go to settings/applications /manage applications/all then find the bloat you don't want, select it, uninstall updates, then you will find an option to disable. This will hide the app and disallow it to function, but it will still be in /system/app when an ota dose a file system check. If you're looking for cm9, I'd update to .211 install safe strap 2.0 for razr ics, then check out hashcodes cm9 build for the razr, you'll have to Google for it, it's not on xda. You will have to rsd back to stock before the update will install.

The "disable" trick doesn't fully work I've found.. not on all of it.. too bad titanium backup freeze doesn't work anymore.. was easier/best way in my opinion..

Quick question regarding ROMing and the eventual GB update

I am thinking about running the MIUI room that just recently came out on ROM manager, but I don't want to flash it if I cannot get back to stock and not receive the GB update when it comes.
Is there a reliable way to get back to stock yet? I have tried making a backup of my current state but every time that I do my X2 restarts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can get back to 100% stock.. There is a flashable SBF that does it.

I don't think MIUI is available for the X2. Check the X2 development forums. The SBF thread in particular. The answer yo your questions are there.
Sent from my DROID X2
I think the naming conventions of Droid's has caused a lot of confusion. Many things have been released for the Droid X and the Droid 2 at the same time, leading people to post about updates to the Droid X/2, which in fact is not the Droid X2.
I know MIUI is available, it is on ROM manager on my X2. And I found out about the imminent GB update on the X2 general forum.
So unless there are a lot more people than me "confused" by the names of Motorolas Phones, than I think it is probably true that GB will be here as a 2.3.4 build soon enough. I think that is why not much development has been done on this phone, why develop on Froyo when GB comes out so soon?

I haven't heard of any X2 owner using ROM Manager. A far as I can tell, to date, there are only derivatives of that chinese ROM floating around. I would research more before you flash whatever you see in ROM Manager. Unless you are skilled enough to un-brick your phone.
But hey... Let me know how that works out for you.

I will see what the DEV part of the forum says, but I will probably try to flash it tonight.
I will let you know how it goes.
Rom manager its probably seeing your phone as the atrix. You don't want to download a rom for the atrix, it will not work and you will be forced to sbf back to stock. There is currently only one rom fire the x2 and at least 3 others in the works.

Miui is most definitely not out for the x2.... but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try since you can easily unbrick

Had to go back to stock. A slightly annoying process, but i figured I may as well try and let the community know the results.

Easy to do once you get back to stock .181. I had to use matts utility to get back to stock. But RSD should be fine just get root then do exactly as instructed.

Ok, first things first. ICS is coming down the pipe in a few days maybe a week or 2, depending on how the soak test goes. Why do you want to flash a GB OS mod when ICS will be here soon? If you flash to that I don't believe you'll get the OTA update.
Second, you'll want to have RSDLite installed on your machine with a safe, working copy of your stock rom. This can be found in about 50 places on these forums. The only catch is that when ICS rolls out, more than likely, you won't be able to go back to GB due to the boot loader being signed with a new version (all the posts you see about getting "unstuck" are speaking of that very problem).
I'll be more than happy to walk you through the process, but it just doesn't seem to be the wisest course of action with ICS so close.
Lemme know!

You should back up your data, boot into stock recovery or if you're using custom recovery (cwm/bootmenu) and do a factory wipe. It's painful as you'll have to set up your phone again from scratch but it will fix most of your issues with apps crashing.
