Rom Manager - HTC Amaze 4G

Can I use it? I used 4EXT recovery and I wanna see Roms that are on Rom manager but it says I need to install clockwork, do I download? Will it mess up

Did you seriously make 4 different threads?

Been doing that for every question all day, you need to post all your questions in one thread and for every new question post it right in the old thread.

Yes, you can use Rom manager. I use it and I use clockwork recovery. I personally don't care for the other recoveries.

Hard to believe when you have 54 posts. Wouldnt it be common sense to leave all the questions in a single thread?

Here's a little tip about rom manager and flashing a recovery through it that many fail to realize until it's too late, lucky for me I got a heads up a while back when I was on the T989, once you flash a recovery via rom manager, you can only boot into that recovery using rom manager, therefore your phone has to boot to be able to use recovery, now, let's say you end up in a bootloop, how are YOU gonna get into recovery to fix your phone? Think about that, we don't have a CWM recovery.img at the moment for you to flash manually if you prefer CWM, but by all means, do as you please, we all have personal preferences and for someone that isn't s-off and isn't too comfortable with the ways of adb, etc as yet, I'd advise the simplest things for now.

Before 4ext was posted and I was on my g2 I used cwm(like everyone else). you were able to boot into recovery same as 4ext. Some had issues but I never did. Is something on this device preventing it from functioning like it did in g2?

Actually for me, once I flash cwm from rom manager, it stayed on my phone. Happened with my nexus 1,s, galaxy s2, and now this phone,..so I guess for some it sticks and others or may not. I say just try it and change if you want to

Not sure what you are talking about. I can get into recovery without going through Rom manager. Through Rom manager was how I got clockwork. I my phone doesn't need to boot to get into recoveryive used it on 4 phones with no problems..

Amon Ra????

Can anyone do the Amon RA for Vibrant??? My bro have the evo 4g and he told me is better than Tom manager...
its a great recovery, but rom manager does everything we need, and does it well.
hit up amon on twitter, but I doubt he will do it.....
What's wrong with Clockwork?
It's because I don't know how to delete a kernel with the clockworkmod and mybro told me he can do it with amonra... you know how to do it without use Odin to revert to stock the phone???

+1,
just flash a new kernel on top using SGS kernel flasher, its super easy.
Also, SGS Kernel Flasher can do a backup of current kernel, in case you want to go back after flashing a new one!
Amon_Ra is great (my N1) but CWMR is an awesome recovery...no need to go trying to fix what isn't broken.
I know that, I just want to delete it without flash another one...

Recovery is part of the kernel from what I remember. There isn't a seperate partition for it. Delete kernel u delete recovery. CWMR boots off SD if I'm not mistaken. I forget these things after 2days of parties XP

[Recovery] CWM Recovery

If you are on honeycomb you are free to flash recovery via Rom manager.
If you are on gb I am working on a compatible recovery right now. Once I get it done you will be able to use the features in Rom manager but not flash recovery via Rom manager
confirmed working with Honeycomb htcdev unlocked hboot 1.14.

I just rooted my view last night.. I flashed recovery once, enough to put the SU file on SD card to root. But since then, I've tried to do a backup (through ROM manager) and the white HTC screen pops up and doesn't go away. So then I tried to do it manually through hboot and when I choose recovery it does the same thing .. what do you think might be the problem? I'm very new to this so I'm hoping it is something simple that I missed... Please help

It's possible, even probable, that he rooted from a galaxys2root.com tutorial, in which case he does not have CWM Recovery. Does the recovery say 3e Recovery at the top?

Back up stock rom

Hi everyone,
I just reset my phone through LGPNST, cuz I accidentally deleted the Rom trying to flash new Rom . I learned it the hard way cuz I had my phone stuck in recovery mode for a week.
Long story short I just wanna backup my stock Rom before I try to flash other roms. Can anybody suggest best way how to do it ?
Every reply is appreciated and thanks in advance,.

Do you mean TWRP? Just back it up in recovery (TWRP). However, if you are using the recovery that freegee installed, I'd download and flash a newer one from the development section. They create much more reliable backups.

Here's the link for the TWRP that has been developed for the OG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019662. I was able to flash this to my phone via the instructions within this thread. I'm a noob as well to flashing, so can't give advice beyond pointing you here.
Here's a link for Clockwork Mod for the OG, another recovery program: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010984
There seems to be a bit more development being done for the Clockwork Mod...

Is this the Definition of a soft brick? Fix?

So I rooted my S4 and all was good (Not my first rodeo)
I was running a Stock Deodexed ROM and I flashed a mod to change the toggles to blue. Still... all was good, but
then I decided to start fresh and clean up a bit. So I formated the device, wiped caches, data reset, yadda ya...
Flashed a different Stock Deodex and everything still seemed fine. I tried flashing the blue toggle mod and then got stuck on boot. Pulled battery and still nothing. Wiped all data again and flashed the ROM again without doing the toggle mod. Ever since then, no matter what ROM I'm on or have any mods, if I reboot I get stuck at boot screen. The only way to get past this is to wipe EVERYTHING again and start over. However... Hot/Quick/Shell reboot doesn't lock up on me.
So basically I'm at a point with my S4 that makes it impossible to flash anything and be able to boot. I even have to wipe everything before I can do a successful restore.
I'm using TWRP 2.5.0.2 and currently on my latest backup of cleanrom 1.3
Any ideas are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Thanks community!

From DarkMenace's signature, quite a nice resource he has composed. I ran into a similar situation with TWRP and ClearnRom 1.3 last night, ended up using Odin to push the "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Stock_Restore.tar.md5.gz" in that link. Went back to bone stock, but it's nice to know there is a fallback incase something ever goes awry.

Yes, but there are root files there also.
So then what? Or do I just use Odin to do the whole kernel flashing thing again to gain root? Sorry to sound so noobish, just don't wanna go through this again. Lol

You use Odin. You can use either file.

Yeah I know I use Odin. I guess I should have worded that better.
If I push the .tar you mentioned, I lose root, but some root files will still be there. So my question is... What files and what can I do with them? Or do I just start the whole root process over again as in the first place with those two modified kernels?
The other "no data wipe .tar" file you push with Odin as well, but would you retain root? If so... I would prefer the no wipe .tar, but you know better than me and I greatly appreciate your help and guidance. If the first .tar file is the better way to go and start all over, that's what I'll do. Its almost done downloading anyways, but was just curious about the no wipe and if ya knew anything more about it. I owe you man!
