Bootloader won't unlock - HTC EVO 3D

Is there anyway I can unlock my bootloader without htc dev unlocked.? I been trying to root my phone for the last couple days. but the htc dev unlocked doesn't work for me. I have follow the steps that they provide, and I have did everything again like five times, I have unistall everything and reinstall everything. still doesn't work I'm on cdma, windows 7. I Have everything install it on the rite place. I have installed the ruu, I ran the ruu again it saying complete at the end which it's good. but than when I open up the cmd and copy the code I paste it and click submit and it says failed! Error...... Is there anyway to do this without the htc dev unlocker or what I'm doing wrong? If you wanna help me please add me on gtalk : [email protected]

You could downgrade your hboot using the method in my signature. It does not require HTC to unlock first.

Run an RUU then try to unlock.
You can download the 2.17.651.5 RUU from Here
I would also think about downgrade as coal686 suggested below because you would also obtain S-OFF which is required by most rom.

Have you tried putting the phone into "fastboot usb" mode & running the Ruu.exe (that matches your installed gsm firmware) from a pc?

If you were S-Off on 1.40 or something, you probably just bricked your phone. I know that's a step towards bricking your phone.

it is a step to a soft-brick - and is fully recoverable by using the latest official and correct RUU for your device (the RUU must be signed and 100% stock)

You are probably using SuperSu as the superuser app. You can go into settings of that app and select permanent unroot.
You can then lock up you bootloader by opening a command prompt and going to your adb and using fast boot commands you can type fastboot OEM lock you can then proceed to download the latest ruu 2.13 just search the on here for it and run that with your phone still connected to your computer.
If your soff you can just run the ruu or install a stock ROM via recovery.
Multiple ways to do it just depends on a lot of variables like what ROM your on, s-off or s-on, what hboot your on 1.12 or 1.15, if you just want root gone or you also what to dump custom recovery as well and if you want it completely stock like it just came out of the box.
Let us know some more info and someone will help out

It depends how you rooted it.
Its different each way.

Theres no need to undo the superuser app. Any unroot method is going to install the unrooted ROM

True, but still a way to unroot.
If he just wants to unroot that's the quickest way to do it and probably the easiest.

You are right. That's not what most people want when they go to unroot though. H-boot will still be unlocked/S-OFF and the phone will probably still have a custom recovery (depending on root method)
So get back to us OP

I want my phone to be just like fresh out of the box. And I have s-on.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I too would like to know about this, fresh out of the box.
In that case, relock bootloader as per the instructions above, and then run the appropriate RUU for your firmware version.

If S-OFF it requires you to run the S-ON tool as well.
Its really a different process for each root method available
Which Rom should I use to unroot?

You'll need to re-lock the phone and then run the RUU then.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4
RUU:
http://stockroms.net/file/HTCEvo4GLTE/RUU
For h-boot 1.15 you'll need the 1.22 RUU
You run it from your computer.

I would star here as a reference point. This device is different to the 4g when it comes to all this stuff Start by unlocking your bootloader through htcdev and go from there.

I believe uou first have to unlock your bootloader in order to be able to downgrade. And as far as being s-on you might not be able to flash many of tge available ROMS. Keep in mind that guide is for CDMA by the way

Here's a really good put together by ramjet works well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
I think I saw in one of the threads you are on cricket? If so your flash is safe using this guide
You need a computer to unlock bootloader. Go to htcdev.com and you follow the guide there then continue with the link i posted. You are CDMA by the way. Also look at the guide this other guy posted by ramjet.

Downgrade from 1.27.531.11 to 1.27.531.8 and S-OFF available

In my search and attempt to find a method to downgrade 1.27.531.11 firmware and successfully run revone for S-OFF, I found it.
mod edit
***Edit***
The downgrade is out there, DO NOT POST A LINK TO IT!!!! The thread will get closed again. Use your googling skills.
Has anyone tried this method with the bootloader unlocked? I'm just confused why the bootloader has to be re-locked.

When you run an RUU the bootloader has to be locked. You can always unlock it again. The HTC One toolkits make it really easy. Just save your email with the unlock.bin
Hello OP, may I ask which toolkit did you use to re-lock bootloader? Thanks!
Yeah it works. Im now s-off

i was in the same boat... make sure you are running the "ARUWizard" from the extracted folder and not the zip file. also do "fastboot reboot-bootloader" without the quotations. also update your drivers just to make sure. i got mine from hasoon's toolkit

Yes the folder after you unzip the .zip file. Then go into the data files and run the application I told you.
Nope that reboots bootloader to ensure you are good to go.
