Battery life experiences - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Just want to share some battery life shots for others to use to consider when choosing a new phone.
Screen set to autobright, WiFi off (when screen off), data off.
Basically used for tapatalk and browser mainly. Short phone calls and texts.

Already put this in the other thread but I figure it belongs here as well. Average signal strength -80 dBm, 2.5 hours screen on time, WiFi all day.
Also, on a related note, this phone charges unbelievably quickly. I'm seriously in awe of how fast the battery fills up. I've seen charging this quick on a rooted device with a fast charge kernel but NEVER on a stock device. I'm easily gaining 1% per minute of charging if not more.

What'd you guys use to take a screenshot with, since mine isn't rooted yet I can't use the normal apps but here is mine with light to majority of the time usage, on wifi 95% of the day, screen brightness about 25%, texting all day, a couple calls, and Drag Racing Bike Edition a bit, then the normal Facebook and Twitter checks. It's at 19% now after messing with it for a few minutes. :good:

I get terrible signal at work, 4g is reporting -110db, -85db on 3g, and am very far from the WiFi router. Auto brightness is on too.
Still considerably better than my other phones.

I spent yesterday at Catalina. I left with a full charge at 9 am and apart from a brief 15 minute charge, I plugged in my phone at 10:30 pm with 10% remaining. The signal on the island is very spotty, constantly switching from 1x to 3G to no signal at all. I took 50+ photos with my phone and uploaded 5 to Facebook; I made a handful of calls and sent/received more texts than I expected for a day away from life, lol. However, there was a combined total of two hours of travel time (tram/plane) when I switched to airplane mode because I knew I wouldn't be able to get signal. I was pleasantly surprised that the phone didn't die on me earlier in the day. I think I'll buy an extra battery and keep it in my bag for a bit of extra security, but overall, I am impressed.

So what I'm getting from this is battery is pretty good right? Is there any overheating at all I'm looking to replace my rezound because of I can't get one that doesn't hit over 125 regularly.

I am in hopes this phone will produce decent batt life. better than the rezound anyway.

I just got it today but overheat was a big reason i dropped my rez, ill keep an eye on it and let u know, so far it seems more like my inc2.
i dont play games or anything tho, so i can only say from normal use, and the rez would overheat for that.

On the Incredible and other HTC phones, it should be hold down power button, then hit the home key. Pretty nice and easy, it's great.

So far yes. I have had mine since Thursday. I came from a Rezound as well. No overheating at all. The phone doesn't even get warm. I am at 60% after taking it off the charger at 9am. The battery blows the Rezound's battery away. I finally have a phone back.
You won't regret getting one of these. The size is smaller but that's fine with me.

forgot to take a screen shot but my first full day i go 17.5 hours. 0 time on wifi, 2 hours airplane mode, the rest on 4g. with lots of calls, texting, and setting up. 4 email accounts (1 exchange, 1 gmail and 2 yahoo), beweather autoupdate to every 3 hours, nova for my launcher, screen auto brightness, and nothing frozen. It never felt warm. It went from 0 to fully charged in about 2 hours, and it did feel warm then, but i had just done the htc unlock so i was resetting everything up. By far the best battery life i've had on an android phone so far.

better than the inc2..?
now that would be awesome!
It's too soon for me to say how my batt is, but it's better than the rezound and doesnt overheat so im happy.

Yeah, thats about what I'm seeing...the battery life on this thing is amazing...even flashing test roms etc...this thing lasts forever.

Battery
Pretty satisfied with the battery life for the casual usage I had today. Yesterday I took it on a 20 mile bike ride with streaming radio running. That sucked down 20-30% in about 2 hours but I pretty much expected that.

an hour and 20 minutes @ 70% remaining is excellent. With the Rezound or Nexus I would be down to about 40% probably at that point.

This phone Rocks
I have had this phone for almost a week now and the battery is pretty awesome. I went to a whole day metal festival and was taking pictures of the bands as well as my stepson and the battery lasted the whole concert. Then the last few days have been good with a couple hours streaming each day and on 4G the whole time. I am amazed to be getting over 12 hours with this phone with it being stock and normal usage for me.

So how's battery life?

Much better than the 4G? Someone...anyone?
a little too early to tell i would imagine.. i can let you know tomm
but kinda hard to compare it to my evo since i rooted the phone as soon as i could... spend a year with the phone rooted
so of course, the phone was better than a stock evo
i dont think this should be bad, as long as you turn your data off and all those other things you can do to save batt.
of course, at 1st everyone will be playing with the phone, so its hard to say but with normal use it should last as a phone like thing should.. smartphones have never been known for their batt
Ive had it on since I got it and its still alive
Battery life is a lot better than the stock Evos for sure. It is a lot better than the reviews you've been reading, or comments about it for that matter.
For know battery is great for me. But i can really tell you tomorrow if the phone still alive after work!
My bet is that they aren't regular Sprint users and don't see the "4G on" button as some sort of suicide switch like we do....they get sent a review phone to review.
Then they rag on Wimax for a while neglecting that it's in fact a relatively more robust protocol and it's the frequency involved that causes the horrible signal propagation characteristics Sprint/Clear's WiMax has become known for...
...and then they applaud Sprint for getting on board the LTE bandwagon, even though most (who understand) consider it the lesser protocol....even though Sprint's LTE will be high frequency and just as ****ty (or ****tier) as WiMax.
...WiMax with Verizon's LTE frequencies would be amazing...ahem....in theory, of course.

Looks good so far. I have been using it heavily, youtube, spiderman , camera/video, etc... and I am only at halfway. I didn't charge it before I started using it so I am not sure where it was when it I started.
seems decent, was at home when I got off work. charged it to full been using heavy and still at 85% after 3 hours with Bluetooth,WiFi,gps off and hourly sync of fb twitter pulse and push gmail.

I've been texting, youtube 3d, watching green hornet, xda, with WiFi on and it just now took a notch away from my battery and I've been doing all this for +2 hours. Personally for my level of usage vs my old EVO I can already tell a major difference in the battery.

The jury is still out for me.
I took it off the charger at 6:00 (EST) this morning. Sent about 12 text messages, checked facebook, checked twitter (then closed app), did a few minutes of web browsing, listened to a downloaded podcast on my car radio via bluetooth (~45 minutes), wifi has been off, 4G off, bluetooth off after I got to work, and i'm at 70% right now.
EDIT: Forgot to add I use Push gmail and push active exchange from work set to "as mail comes in" on M-F 7a-7p then it switches to once every 30 minutes.
Did you guys calibrate the battery with the charge technique 8hours on 1 hour off and turn on two minutes then turn off and charge for another hour
Sent from my Evo3d using XDA Premium App
Is anyone's battery really bad? I woke up to the battery at 830am est at 80%. I took 2 3d pictures and use trillian for about 30mins. My 4g gps and wifi are off and tuned 3d off after taking the 2 pictures. I'm sitting at about 60% and it's only been about 2 hours. Not sure if it's just my phone and if i should exchange it.

Where do I check for this info. This is what my battery usage looks like right now:
4 hours on battery:
Display: 83%
Cell Standby: 5%
BeyondPod: 3%
Phone Idle: 3%
Android OS: 3%
Mediaserver: 2%
Bluetooth: 1%
EDIT: Just saw this:
Uptime: 11:57
Awake Time: 9:46
If I'm reading this right, the phone only slept for 2 hours last night? Is this normal?
Mine has been wonderful. Can't put it down... So my awake time is high. I think there is wake lock issue with facebook for HTC friend stream syncing. I don't use it now, but noticed it yesterday. Apps that were battery hogs on my 4G are not so bad on the 3D.. like word with friends.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I was getting insanely bad battery life, I lost about 50% within 30 minutes. This is what I did to fix it, I applied the OTA (still was getting bad battery life) then I did a factory reset on my device and let it charge all the way up to 100% over night. So far I've had it off the charger for almost 2 hours, haven't really been using it a lot but I've lost only 4% in 2 hours. I can really tell a HUGE improvement.
i let mine charge all the way plus some then took it off the charger and starting messing with it.
as my previous post...ive been texting and doing calls rather heavy while having wifi on and i took it off the charger around 530 600 am and its now 2 here and im at half or so.
the battery is doing well for me. also this thing charges so damn quick.

I ,am on it a lot, between GPS and general usage, ,but this still seems like too fast to drain compared to what others here have said. I had this problem with my Atrix too, maybe i am just destined for bad luck with battery life

Apps like that only increase standby battery life. Everything else is very minimal.
And I'm not happy with the battery life either. My phone is plugged in right now and the battery is actually going down as I use it.

I pull mine off the charger at 7:00 and at 3pm or so it's down to 85%, I'll put it on the charger at work until I leave around 5-6pm (mainly because I'm used to having to do this on my previous phone) and at night if I'm not using it constantly it's around 70-75% when I plug it in at bed time.
I suspect anyone getting that bad of battery life must be using it constantly, ie: Playing games, browsing, trolling facebook, etc.. Even in the "new toy" stage I'm getting great battery life.
FYI I don't have LTE, but do generally have good 4G.
You honestly can't use any phone on GPS without external power and expect that you're not going to discharge quickly. Assuming that you are running a car charger during GPS and just didn't say so, search the i-717 threads, since the topic has been well vetted on what chargers are more effective, etc. There are definite differences.

The fact that there are people out there that get really good battery life means the problem is you and not the phone. If you refresh facebook every minute of course your battery life will be crappy. apps like juicedefender are just marketing crap. as long as there are no running apps in the background that eat your battery, you do not need any juicedefender or tasker. also setting screen-off behavior to conservative on set cpu helps improve battery life.
When I first got my i717 and was using it on the stock rom I had pretty terrible battery life. I take it off the charger at 5:00am and had decent battery life (around 5 to 7 hours without GPS) but I use my phone a lot for internet/email. I think your battery life is completely normal given your usage.
Most people get about 5hrs screen on time. Total on battery ranges up to about 24hrs, but only if the screen is off at least 19 of them.

i can get about 3 or so
5 hours of screen time AND 19hours standby sounds incredible
would sure like to see screen shot as well
and def dont think 5 hours is any type of avg
I had GPS running on my phone for 4 hours today, had blue tooth on half the time without knowing it, sending text messages, making two 5 min phone calls, checking maps, checking FML and reading a book for about an hour and drained down to about 70% and I have the brightness set at auto. I would exchange it for a new battery.
On average with several texts per hour, several 5-10 min phone calls, taking a few pics and uploading them to picasa, checking facebook, updating status and checking emails I can pull off the charger at 630am and still have 50% battery (at least) by 630pm.
I do have the juicedefender (which isn't crap, it turns off signal after so long so you aren't trolling for signals when you aren't on the phone).

I had a ss of my buddies yesterday, but can't restore mms lol. There are plenty of other ss in the note section. He was at 22+ hrs with about 4:30 of screen on and some % remaining. I have to charge around 7-9 everynight at 4-4:30 hrs screen on, but my use is pretty heavy. I sync 4 gmail accounts, a separate GV, 3 calendars, and several apps.
If yours is much worse than that, you likely have a few troublesome apps or are playing games. First, after a full charge, reset cpuspy timers, lock it, and set it down for a few hours (I know, impossible). Then check to see that your CPU has been in deep sleep about 95% of the time. If not, use better battery stats to see what has been request wakelocks. Not only the most total time, but the total number. Any app that looks outrageous, freeze it or uninstall it. For system processes that look troublesome, Google. You can often find simple tricks online that will tell you what's causing them to go crazy. Beyond that, turn off syncing of anything that isn't needed or doesn't matter (like Facebook), and uninstall stuff you never use.
Another slight help is the brightness widget (don't use the actual widget, just put the app on your homescreen, it works the same) or dimmer in market as they can both set the brightness to a value of 10 (Samsung lowest stock is 20), and even if you can't tell the difference, it helps. Jkay settings in saurom can set the auto brightness profile slightly darker than stock. Umm, and the obvious, use less Widgets, longer sync intervals, processor scaling and speed profiles, and buy a couple rapid chargers, wall and auto.
A couple things to note after seeing a few of these posts...
BT can be on, but without it searching, connected, or listening it's not active.
GPS isn't active unless its in use aand you see the icon in the notification bar. That being said, fb, websites, and many other apps that request location will activate it.

YOU MUST CALIBERATE THE BATTERY!! I have no issues I use my phone heavy all day and get 15 hours and I still have 20% left. All you have to do is
1) Charge you phone until it says "charged"
2)Leave phone plugged in and power off and let it charge until the battery meter literally says "100" (screen will sleep so you can check with volume rocker to light screen)
3) power on phone and let boot and than power off and wait till you see 100% again
4) now keep doin this and you will notice it will start displaying "100%" faster and faster usually takes 6-7 times cycling like this
5) After you do this download Battery Caliberation (root required) app from market and hit the caliberate button and boom your good to go
I do this on every android phone I own when I flash a new rom or purchase a fresh one. Everyone should do this everytime you flash a new rom and I can CONFIRM significant battery longevity on all my android phones I have done this with
You only have to do it once so just get it out the way and you'll get through a whole dayand have some juice to play with.
I get 15+ hours and do not any battery juice defender apps

Just to be clear here, Tasker has nothing to do with battery life. It doesn't hurt it, nor "help" it. However, you certainly could write tasks/contexts that would decrease battery life, and there are a few scripts out there which do silly stuff like autokilling, etc... But if we're talking "battery savings", Tasker and JD do not go in the same category.
IMO JD is only useful if you're frequently in an area with no signal, like you work in a basement or deep inside of a solidly constructed building. Since you mentioned Tasker, in this context it does help me a bit on battery because my wifi turns off when I leave the house, but that's also something JD can help with. If you don't have a wifi connection it'll turn off wifi (and I believe turn it back on periodically to see if there's one available?) I don't use JD, so can't speak too much for it.

Hour? Hour and a half? I'm working during that period. I usually hit news sites and G+ when I'm first at my desk in the morning, so that's 30 minutes or so off and on looking at it, then perhaps an hour over the rest of the day, sometimes more at lunch.
I'll look closer today and post back.

right now i'm at 37%. off the charger for 12 hours, with 2:20 screen on time. i'll get 3 hours screen on by the end of the day. this is using wifi all day, taking many pics, sending lots of texts and MMS in an area with crappy 4g service (so MMS take forever to go through, if they do) and plenty of emails..then used facebook, instagram, tapatalk, etc.
on 4g, i'd probably get 10 hours or so with 3 hours screen on time. yesterday i had 16.5 hours with 3 hours screen on time on wifi/4g mix.
I have very good 4g where I live and I always use wifi when I'm at home. I mainly read up on tech blogs, a lot of Web browsing a few quick videos and some picture taking. So im hoping I can get 12 hrs.

Auto brightness, most stuff syncing. Streaming spotify for at least an hour and playing a good amount games.
It doesn't hold up to the note 2, but its the same if not better than the s3

I know everyone has there opinion but battery life is not close with gs3.
Battery is the DNA biggest issue.

Everyone I know with a s3 gets about 4 hours on screen time, which the DNA can easily get. I've gotten above 5 a couple of times.
Either you got a lemon of a DNA or you are confusing the s3 with the note 2.

Battery life for me has been awesome. Coming from the Rezound, on a good day with medium to light use (for me) I'd be lucky to get 12 hours. I bet I could go two days on my DNA before I'd HAVE to plug in. As always, YMMV.
On days when I use my DNA heavily (3+ hours of streaming videos with some web browsing mixed in + another combined 1-2 hours of texting, checking FB, etc), I can make it from 6AM through to 12AM. Granted, I'm usually at around 9% by 12AM, but I can still make it through the day without needing to worry about battery. On days when I just use it for the 1-2 hours of texting, checking FB, etc., I can go for 2 days before I need to charge. I am mostly in 4G LTE areas, with around 1 hour combined time spent underground with no signal. My mobile network is always on, I never use WiFi, my auto-sync is always on, and my screen brightness is set to around 40%.
So in my honest opinion, the DNA's battery is quite decent. My brother has an SIII and he doesn't get anywhere close to these numbers.
I'm on my second day of using the phone (I had it on the charger for hours the previous day until around 4:30 P.M.) It is currently 9:56 A.M. the next day and I have about 46% on the battery (Quoted use time is 14h 29 min on battery). This is on moderate use, so not too shabby. I have never had a good battery in any of my phones (I came from the regular Droid Razr, so 2020maH vs. 1780maH) so I am used to not having a good battery.
FYI, I rooted this and flashed a ROM on it about a week ago, and there isn't any definitive upgrade over battery performance yet. While it's nice to have no bloatware, I haven't found anything out that really is much of a benefit over Sense 4.1 in terms of performance/battery. Too many bugs to work out yet.
Battery Life
The battery life on the DNA has FAR EXCEEDED any expectations I would have had.
I have had the phone about 3 weeks now and I do not use it heavily, so I have gotten up to 3 days, 6 hours of battery out of this thing.
The least I have gotten has been about 23 hours and that was driving from NH to NYC and making calls, texting(not while driving of course  ), GPS navigation running and checking things like FB and Twitter. Average seems to be about 29-30 hours for me.
So I am VERY pleased so far, HTC did a great job with battery management.
I'm coming from a T-Bolt, which is known by all to have horrific battery life.
The DNA has blown me away in terms of battery life.
I dont do video or music streaming. But I do heavy voice, txt and constant data (exchange push, gmail, and sending lots of emails per day). Also a fair amount of web browsing, FB, twitter, and all that stuff.
Im coming from an evo lte to the DNA. Its really amazed the hell outta me the difference. I mean the evo has dual core and a smaller screen and no were near as powerful. How they can make something use less juice but that much stronger is really cool. Id say 30% better. You want me to solve ALL your battery needs and questions? Best damn thing I ever bought. You wanna talk about powerful! I rate it a 6.5 outta 5 stars lol.

I can easily get 48 hours with my SGS3 (with ICS), a little less with JB. Can you manage to get that long with a DNA ?

With my GS3, I would range anywhere between 18-30 hours with 4+ hours of screen time. That was on ICS or JB. I was rooted with custom ROM's, but I didn't do anything special other than that. A lot of it was with the stock kernels.
I'm only on my 3rd full day with the DNA and I'm keeping a very close eye on battery life. I want to make sure I'm at least getting close to my GS3 otherwise it might not be a worthy move for me after all. So far it has been doing decent but I haven't been able to have a normal usage day yet. Today would be my first normal usage day.
If the battery holds up, I like the DNA more than the GS3, so I would keep it. If the battery doesn't hold up, I'm going to consider the Note 2.
I'm on my first full work day. Pretty confident that ill make to the end of the day.
Only issue is that I had to change my habits a little. Stock vs stock with gs3 is clear winner as far as anything media related to battery.
By no means is it horrible.

IMHO the DNA is Superior to the S4

Well, I've had an entire day with the S4 now, and I can confidently say, "big whoop." yes the hardware is impressive. Yes I'm getting Quadrant scores over 12,000. Yes it has removable storage. Yes it has a removable battery. Yes the dev community is active. In the end I'm struggling with a case of who the F cares?
Recently I've been camped on a Note 2, and I'm really underwhelmed by this S4. I don't really know what I was expecting, but I was thinking there would be at least a little sparkle. The gimmicks are worthless for the most part, the display doesn't dazzle me the way the DNA does, and the build construction while better than the S3, is nowhere near as pristine as the DNA.
In all honesty, I miss being part of this HTC community. In the end I couldn't live with the DNA because the battery just wouldn't hold out long enough for me to make it through the day. I'm willing to accept that as a deal breaker. If it weren't for that however, I would probably be sticking to the DNA camp for a long time. The Samsung hardware specs are impressive, but the DNA has_soul_. I don't know how to put it any better than that. I'll probably go back to the Note 2 for the screen real estate and stellar battery life, but I'm going to continue to miss this forum. I won't miss the S4 one bit.
Take this post for what you will, a comparison of htc/sammy, a rant, some addled thoughts late at night, whatever er. Feel free to chime in if you want, or not. Feel free to delete the thread if someone thinks it's not relevant. I just had to get these things off my brain and onto the forum I care about most on XDA.

For people having battery issues, there are a lot of things to try. Depending on kernel, configuration, etc. I have had crazy amazing battery life. It really varies though and there are some things that can just totally wreck battery life. Just have to be mindful of it.

Well, in regards to the s4, battery life was horrible regardless of what I did. I fun minimal stuff that syncs. No social networking crap or anything and it managed to hit 46% after 8 hours. The same usage on my DNA and I get a minimum of ~12 hours at 50%. Best I've done on a charge is about 22 hours. That alone was the straw that broke the camels back...

Your DNA doesnt last you the whole day? What are you doing on it? I am running pio's PAC rom with crpalmer's kernel(and even before his kernel) I was *easily* getting 30+ hours with normal usage(messaging every ~15 minutes, around 1-2 hours of browsing reddit, various tinkering, and phone calls).

I owned three different DNA's over the course of about four months, and no matter what I did I couldn't get more than about 12-15hrs max from the battery. I was more than mindful, I ran battery stats until I was blue in the face, I ran multiple ROMs and kernels, bought two wireless chargers, etc. I'm jealous of those who would get 30+ hours on a charge, but it just wasn't possible with the way I use my phone.
Under the same or harsher conditions, I get around 30-48 hours on the Note 2, including up to about 5-6 hours of screen time. Not trying to say the Note is better, just relating experience and one key factor in my handset choice. If I had liked the S4,it would have required an aftermarket battery for sure.

Average battery life with newts sense 5 and beast setup default is 22 hours. Each day I do over 3 hours screen time and several calls. It lasts me a full day and that's all that matters to me.
Just curious but why do you need more then 13-15 hours of battery life? I understand its convenient if you're ever gone from home for a long time but you couldn't invest in a battery pack or carry a charger with you at all times just in case you are gone for a long time? I'd understand if you were only getting 4-6 hours of battery because that's what I got from my Gnexus. I'm up and at the gym at 6 in the morning and I don't have to charge my DNA until 6-9 pm when I finally make it back to bed with the stock rom (2.06) running 2x battery.
Glad to see people feel like the DNA is still a stellar phone. I was really curious to see if I should have waited to get the S4 or the HTC One if it ever came to Verizon. Now I don't regret getting this phone for free. It was practically stealing because it is such an amazing phone.
Flame on !!! I've been saying the same thing about the S4 and HTC One and have been beat down.

what the fart.
They might also be on wifi in areas with great signal coverage. I highly doubt they're getting these insane numbers on 4G.

I can see people enjoying the S4 less than the DNA, but there's no way the DNA beats the One. Not in any universe.

lol let's hear your "expert" opinion then.
i've been with android since 2010, and i consider myself a power user. i text multiple times a day, always use 4G etc. i have everything syncing at all times.
i used to get 14-15 hours, and 3 hours screen on for the DNA until around Google I/O when they updated something. the play store got EXTREMELY slow and it would take 20 minutes to download a 15mb app, and my battery went to garbage.

I honestly wouldn't know because I'm on stock and I can get 2 days+ with light use and my phone can last almost the whole day with heavy. I'm on stock though.
Maybe try and reinstall the ROM you have? Could be something with the download that is giving you trouble.

Droid Life review says battery life sucks ?

DroidLife; HTC One (M8) Review
http://www.droid-life.com/2014/04/07/htc-one-m8-review/
Battery life sucks on the M8 ?
HTC claims that the new One (M8) could see upwards of 40% better battery life over last year’s M7, but I’m not I’m buying it. I saw average battery life in my testing on the 2,600mAh battery that wasn’t necessarily greatly improved over last year’s One. My testing typically includes multiple days in a row of nothing but 4G LTE, followed by a few with WiFi mixed in. On 4G LTE-only days, my phone was almost always begging for a charger after 10-12 hours of use and around 3 hours of screen-on time.
Per this review they say battery life is average at best, and not that good, only getting 3h On Screen time, and overall just like 10h - 12h of total battery life on the phone, and with WiFi on they get 14 hours total battery life.
I thought all the real world reviews of people, and other sites were raving about the battery life on this new One M8 ? getting like 5h to 6h On Screen time ?
I think like any phone the usage patterns vary so much that there's only so much you can conclude from individual reports. On average it seems people are getting great battery life so I would go with it will be decent. Anandtech has a more controlled testing method and the M8 even beats the LG G2 in many tests so I would say it will get great battery life under normal circumstances. Droid life is very subjective with battery life while Anand is much more objective which is why I put more faith in their tests. In the end though I had the G2 while on sprint and my battery wasn't anywhere close to what most people were getting but I also had very weak signal most of the time. Now that I'm back on ATT I'm hoping when I get the M8 I will get better battery than the G2 on Sprint.
He's smoking crack. I had a bad app for the first few days of owning my M8. Uninstalled it (after finding it in battery stats on Gsam) and it hasn't even been the same phone. Blows away my M7 on battery life and is pretty close to beating most of the other phones I have used, including the G2 and Note 3.
Idle drain was around 3% in 8 hours (tested this weekend) without battery saver mode on, which is insane for an Android phone and it lasted me almost two full days over the weekend. It can't hold a candle to my 1520, but it's still much improved over the M7 and many of the recent Android flagships.
I was on 1 day 17 hours on battery before plugging mine in this morning with pretty normal daytime use including a bunch of reboots to flash stuff. Good enough for me.

What you use to find the culprit in GSAM? Was it the bottom left icon that's called "App Sucker" when you open it?

It was a OWA webmail app I had installed and yes, it showed up in the app list. It only had 1.5% reported drain, but uninstalling it made a huge improvement on my battery life. I guess the rule is: if it shows up there at all, it's impacting your battery.

Ah gotcha! I've had really good battery life but if I notice anything funny I'll take a look in Gsam. Thanks!
I've owned a LOT of phones the last 2-3 years. Iphone 5/5s, Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, and now the M8. The battery life on this kills every one of them. I use it all day, going from watching videos on youtube, browsing FB, IG, and Tumblr, texting, and emailing. Mostly on LTE, but with a little wifi mixed in. At the end of the day I avg 5.5hr of screen on time, and have 25% battery left. I don't know what conditions they did their testing in, or what they may have had running in the background, but I think they should redo their tests.

I have very similar use. One Gmail account pushed, one business exchange account pushed, emailing, texting, calling, videos, browsing, camera etc all day long. And I have some LONG days since I have grad school after work two days a week until 9 PM so I don't even end up getting home until 945. Battery life is almost if not as good as the note 3 I was just using. And I chose the note 3 in the first place because it could get through my day.
They better check their hypotenuses.

I find it hard to believe that they could have possibly had bad battery life from this phone. I charged mine overnight Sunday night, then took it off the charger Monday morning. I just charged it this afternoon. I don't have gsam, but I'm sure I had at least 2 hrs screen time, and well over 1 hr talk time. That's way better than any other android phone I've ever had.
This has been hands down the best battery life I have seen of any smartphone I have had (see signature) screen on time is greater than 3 hours with a total time off charger of 16-17 hours. Imo if you want 6 hours of screen time, get a tablet lol.
http://androidandme.com/2014/04/reviews/htc-one-m8-battery-it-keeps-going-and-going/
This review is a lot more in line with what I'm seeing. I went out of my way to use the phone two days in a row without charging and it made it home with 7%, being on the whole time with lots of picture taking and otherwise normal use, listening to music on the train, etc. Considering that only a couple of years ago one of the biggest knocks on android phones was battery performance, I'd say things are pretty good right now.

Here is something that helps battery life in my case, if you go to your Accounts and Sync settings then click on google, you can choose what google services you want to sync. Just turn off the stuff you don't use. It's not too big, but it helps.
I have two phones M8 and Note 3 I use them equally all day one for business and one for personal the M8 which is for business had been the victor in battery life easy by 4-6 hours, I love them both there really not in the same device category but M8 has really good battery life.
