Hey all,
This is a port of brobot175's MetroUI tested only on King Kang and 4.1.1 alpha build, all credit should go to him. I have been searching high and low for what I want out of a home screen and thanks to him I finally can configure it. You can customize everything, and I'm sure most of you can make better screens than my screenshot setup below.
Known issues/FAQ in Post 2.
I can port this to other ROMs if you post SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk from the ROM download file!
Changelog:
Code:
-July 14th 0.1
-Updated to MetroUITilesB7.zip with 45 additional tiles and Windows 8 like wallpapers
-revamped default grid layout and tiles for better padding and margin depths
-ability to backup and restore successfully via Nova Launcher
-added Nova launcher with hidden settings enabled/cofigured and preset home screen desktop configuration
-Added plain green square and regtangle for UberMusic tiles
-fixed issue where flashing theme causes desktop visualizer and pulse to have to be reinstalled

1. Unzip MetroUITilesB7.zip to your Internal SD card.
2. Flash Metro8Theme.zip
3. Flash Metro8BootAnimation.zip
4. Restart system and choose to open home screen with Nova Launcher if there is a list and you should see this:
5. Start tapping the widgets like a madman and icons will appear! The grid layout is set already.
6. To change icons/actions when tapping them:
-Open Desktop Visualizer in app drawer - Menu button - Refresh Widgets - Edit Mode
-Navigate back to home screen and tap widgets to edit what tile and action you want. Tiles are on your Internal SD card under Big Tiles and Small Tiles.

Faq/Tips:
Blurry Widgets Fix:
After resizing widgets the aspect ratio/text can get blurred. To permanently fix this until you decide to resize the widget again:
Go into Desktopvisualizer through app drawer.
Select menu - refresh widgets - edit mode.
Navigate to home screen.
Tap on widget which will bring up editing options. Just select Ok button right away and it refreshes to look good for current size.
Go back into Desktopvisualizer and menu - refresh widgets - normal mode.
Nova Launcher Settings that you shouldn't have to set manually:
From Home screen - Menu button - Nova Settings
Hold the Vol Down button for a few seconds
This unlocks a section called "Labs"- Enable big grid size in there and preload widget layouts
Set Grid Size to 15x15
Enable widget overlap and resize all widgets
Disable dock
Force Landscape screen orientation
Scroll speed and animation speed to "Faster than light"
Uncheck show notification bar(set gesture if you have paid version)
Known Issues:
FIXED in 0.1Pulse Widget- Currently Broken Above yellow screenshot is my workaround but it should look cleaner if the widget worked.
~Workaround:
Create your normal pulse widget small and a desktop visualizer 4x4 for a tile color in folder extracted on your sd card from zip.
Overlap the Pulse widget over solid color widget.
MetroUI Email Widget- Currently Broken, not showing as a widget of home screen list.
To Do/Coming Soon
1.ADDED in 0.1 Figure out a backup of widgets solution.
-Apex lacks the ability to backup your widgets if you update/change your ROM. Nova has the ability, but it's grid size lacks the ability to keep tiles close to each other. Researching alternatives/open for suggestions.
-Just need to be able to add even more functionality, will revisit this.
2. Fix email widget.
3.FIXED in 0.1 Fix Pulse widget.
4.ADDED in 0.1Obtain music widget missing from theme and integrate it.
-Cannot share due to piracy. App is called UberMusic from Play Store with free clear widget and added "zgreenregtangle.jpg" for tile background in MetroUI\Big Tiles on your SD Card.
5. Learn how to integrate this in Theme Manager/CM9 Nightly Builds if possible.
6. Create a tile for Pandora.
7. Create even more widgets with the same font as the "Messaging" one.
8. Beef up and fix that horrendous looking "News" screen layout.
9. Integrate some live tile integration! somehow...
10. Add a windows 8 like lockscreen.

Is there anything specific that would keep this from working on other ROMS like Flapps AOSP xXx because this looks amazing

Thank you! It depends if SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk are different across the ROMs. Those are the only 2 files I edited pulled from King Kang Rom.
I can make it for other ROMs if someone wants to test it, let me know.

It depends on grid size settings but generally yeah, it won't be the same. I use locked in landscape mode all of the time, still can voice search one handed.

Change Log:
[2/1/12] - Updated to v2.4.0!!!! No Changes to theme, just updated to work with latest version of BP rom.... Really sorry it took this long...Enjoy!!!
[1/24/12] - Theme updated to v2.3.1!!!! Sorry it took so long.... No changes other then a few icons here and there, mainly just updated to work with latest BP rom...... Enjoy!!!
[1/18/12] - Theme updated to v2.3.0!!!!! Added a few new stock apps that I have themed, can't remember which ones lol .... updated a few icons in framework files....Added other new icons throughout system... Mainly updated to work with the new rom, but also added a few new things..... Hope you all Enjoy!!!
[1/14/12] - Thread Updated to v2.2.1!!!!! No files that are in this theme were changed in X's latest rom BP Rom v2.2.1-Reloaded so my theme v2.2.1 will work with it just fine!!! Added a couple custom modded Apps to the 2nd post - XDA Forum App - Blue and ES File Explorer v1.6.1.0 also with custom blue mods!!! I really think you guys will like them, so check'em out!!! Enjoy!!!
[1/14/12] - Updated to v2.2.1!!!... Added New Keyboard to BOTH theme packages..... Updated a few icons that were not displayed properly, due to HTC's m10 image format....... Changed a few icons that are on the lock screen........ Updated Status bar to NON-Transparent to stop it from being displayed as white when certain apps are open.......Updated Nexus Prime Boot Animation(found below) to work with the new boot animation location that comes with BP Rom v2.2.0....... I hope you all Enjoy!!!!
[1/14/12] - Updated to v2.2.0 and now Fully supports BulletProof Rom v2.2.0!!!! Well guys after chatting with xboarder56, I was finally able to get the FULL theme working again with no need to install a skin apk..... In order to do this I had to use almost all of the stock widgets from BulletProof Rom v2.0.1, there was no other way, but these widgets have been tested and everything seems to be playing nice again Because of adding all of the stock widget, the theme is now around 148mb, but it is only replacing the stock widgets that are already on you phone(It doesn't add any new ones, and they are not modded, they are just "plain Jane" stock widgets)...... No real changes to theme itself, mainly just updated to work with the latest BulletProof Release......... Enjoy!!
[1/7/12] - Updated to v2.1.1!!! Not many changes to the theme this time around, mainly just updated to work with BP v2.1.0.... A Major part of the theme is missing from the flashable files above in the OP but that is due to changes that X made to the Rom itself.... Later today or maybe tomorrow I will be posting a Skin apk that will cover the parts of the theme that are missing....... Enjoy!!!!
[1/7/12] - Updated Again !!!!! .... Changed several status bar icon's... USB Connected Icon, New SMS Icon, Linked Icon, and a few more that I can't seem to remember......Changed "New Notification" Badge(Seen on lock screen, on the Messages App in App Drawer, at the top Bar of the Messaging app when there is a new SMS and on the Messaging App Icon when it is on the Home Screen)...... Added Icons to Keyboard for these buttons - Enter button, Raise and Lower Keyboard button, Shift Button, Space Bar and the Back Space Button for both Keyboards....For the Keyboard With Arrows I added New Icons for the Arrow Buttons.... Fixed how some of the "Check Mark" icons were different so now ALL check mark icons are all Similar..... Made Check mark Icon in G-Mail App Bigger(Also now matches other system Check marks)This is seen when selecting a message in your inbox...... Sorry I did add all of this to the release from earlier today..... I hope you all enjoy!!!!
[1/7/12] - Updated to work with BulletProof v2.0.1....... Nothing has been changed or added... just updated to work with the new rom... Enjoy
[1/7/12] - Initial Release!!!! Be sure to let me know if anyone has ANY problems!!!! Enjoy!!! .....
UPDATE - Looks like the theme breaks the phones ability to take a screen shot with a long press of the Power button and the Home key. Download this file and flash it in CWM just like you did with this theme....
BulletProof_Screen_Shot_Fix.zp
Sorry guys
================================================== ================================================== ============================
**Optional Mods**
Just Flash in CWM(Recovery).........
Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus Boot Animation
-Seen HERE - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRuQfN6e3MM

OP has been updated and is now ready for xsboarder56 to drop the new rom..... I have been running BulletProof v2.0.0.0 for a few days now and I gotta say, this is one very fast and one very slick rom.... def will one of the best roms out there for the Amaze!!!! Links for the theme will come as soon as the new rom is out.....
nice job man! especially love the change you made to the keyboard, dark blue looks better...just curious whether was your idea or xboarders
the dialer and KB that are used in this theme were both made a while back, back when I made my first DHD theme for virtuous rom with amresh.. I never used them because I couldn't change the color of the letters and numbers that are on the buttons... but that will be sorted out soon....
when X told me what colors he wanted for the theme, I knew that it would be a good time to finally use them.... glad ppl like like them

Apaquette,
Is there a way to have the theme on all but the main screen? I really like the look but I don't want to get rid of my kitty picture on the main screen. She is just too cute to lose! On my WM phones, I could set it so the main screen had just an image of my choice but the other screens had the theme. On the Amaze or Android in general, the picture stays on all screens. Just curious.

you can just change your wallpaper from the default wallpaper that comes with my theme and select that rascal of a little kitten wallpaper that you have .... but it will change the wallpaper for all of the 5 home screens..... as far as I know you can not have different wallpapers on different home screens, if you want one then you have to have it on all pages..... It prob can be done, but that is beyond my skill set....

Use Multi picture live wallpaper in the market. It allows you to set an individual wallpaper for each screen.

This is one of the nicest looking theme for my personal taste but I am kinda old and my eyes just couldn't tolerate the transparent on the pull-down notification (I always have many apps on it to launch as a shortcut) The last time I installed it I can't read all of those black letter on the notification panel ...
Don't wanted to asked for too much but can you make a patch to make the notification panel become white/non-transparent? I really loves to have this theme on my phone though
Much appreciates for your times and efforts
really?

Heres a preview of bootanimation v4
Also i dont know why the first time running through my boot animation lags.. after that its all smooth.. awh wells.
Installation:

Big thanks and credits to scar45 for creating and letting me use some of his PCB images
Credits to Doktaphex for helping me fix the updater script and the Launcher2 Page indicator images.
Works here. Looks better, IMHO.
One difference when I did it was that I didn't lose my wallpaper, (using a live wallpaper), and it didn't change until I shut down and restarted the tab.

That's why you back up the original apk. You could adb into the device and rename the files and reboot your device if you have to.

Well yeah I knew the back up was important for reverting and such but I didn't know you could use adb if the Prime was in a boot loop from the system UI not working properly... hmmm Shweet. Thanks for the quick response

That's actually what's happened in the ICS root implementation...the TFP is in a boot loop, but adb still communicates.
nice thanks going to do this tonight
now if you could just make the color of the click customizable or get rid of the pesky notification for an sd card
I was also going to add a circle battery mod
as well but just as i thought it did not have the accurate battery (1% increments) on the system bar.

Presents to you-
Transfuzion for Saurom
This theme is a (partial) port of my transfuzion theme. It is a wip, so I will be adding more to it over time.
This theme has only been tested on DAGr8's Saurom RC4, and RC5 for the glalaxy note
That being said, if you try it on anything else, you do so at your own risk. Saurom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522942
Theme features - themed pulldown, toggles, and statusbar (including 3 different pulldown options). ics animations. themed statusbar notifications. ics themed dialer and messaging app. themed contacts. some themed icons. themed google search bar widget. themed settings. themed power settings widget. frequent updates!
Hope you guys enjoy, suggestions are welcome!
3/29 -added battery mod
3/28 -upadated dialer (resized dialer pngs to make more crisp. shows correct dialer in landscape mode now. changed dialer tab icons) Flash dialer via cwm.
UPDATE 3/27Changelog - fixed the issue of no buttons showing up. fixed more (but not all) of the low dpi issues.
Themed the statusbar clock and some of the system font, themed volume bars, few framework changes. possibly fixed the issue of pulldown backgrounds changing on low dpi settings. Not all packages have been updated yet, see downloads to see which ones have.
3/24 -fixed issue of the pulldown toggle background reverting to unthemed when choosing 8 toggles visible. added new alarm notification icon as requested. themed quick-launch panel (chosen in jkay). added "samsung galaxy note" logo to all 3 pulldown options.

I think like 19 to choose from in jkay.. but the pulldown just shows your 1st 5 choices. Without jkay its the standard wifi, bluetooth, gps, silent mode, and auto rotate.. which is pretty much all i use anyways. Im working on themeing all of the toggles tho.

Looks great. Are you going to add the little blue Droid like in Notifications?
This is very cool and I would sure like to try it.
Before I delve into it, though, I would like to ask a couple of questions first.
1. Is there a way to get back to the original theme if I want to do it later, without losing all of additional changes made to the phone after the theme is applied?
2. Does this work with the Go Launcher as well?
Thanks.

Whats themed? - The status bar icons, some of the framework and ui menus, the pulldown menu and the standard 5 toggles (wifi, bluetooth, gps, auto rotate, silent and vibrate mode. If you use any of the extended toggles then it will be mis-matched. However I will eventually fix this.
Things to be added - rest of the framework themed, themed dialer and contacts, themed settings, resize some pngs to better fit our massive screen size,.. much more
Hope you guys enjoy, suggestions are welcome!

Yes you can change back to the original unthemed by flashing this http://www.mediafire.com/?tn79o91m553czzi
This is a revert. I will add it to the op =)
As far as go launcher goes.. it will work just the same with it as any other launcher.. it doesnt change anything. Hope this helps!
Hey ee23hd2, so I just flashed your theme, it's really cool but not everything change for me like you have in the picture.
When I go to setting/about phone, it still looks like stock, nothing compared to your third image you posted in post 1.
I'm running Saurom RC4
Can you help me?
Thanks

Update is up! As far as the font goes download it here http://www.mediafire.com/?g7fjofmg20l8gbx
Its not an apk, so you will have to unzip it and use it with font changer off the market. Download font changer and put the ttf file in the default folder.. i think it will be .fontchanger/fonts if im not mistaken. Or.. you could rename the font to droid-sans.ttf and push it to system/apps via root explorer or other file manager. Just make sure you back up the original droid-sans. Hope this helps =)

Hello and Welcome the the Disaster Team's Simplistic ROM Thread. Enjoy your Ride.
Some History of the ROM: The Simplistic Series was first founded by me, and the disaster series was found by my very close mate, Mirko. We joined forces to bring to you the best S2 experience.
Also a very honorable mention I would like to point out is our friend Bas, thanks a lot for your everlasting support.
Another Thing is that our ROM version is counted using Roman Numbers (e.g. I, II, III, IV, V..) and if some fixed are implemented into a current version, we call this a revision.
Simplistic Control: "Full Control over your Simplistic ROM!"
Simplistic Control is a Settings-like application, where you can control a lot of the mods implemented inside the ROM.
Accessing Simplistic Control is a breeze, just open your Settings, look under personal category and you'll find it.
Simplistic Control has a lot of features categorized to provide easy and fast access to control the mod you want, as of now, it contains categories such as: Lockscreens, Phone app, most Statusbar Elements categories, General Category, and much more. And each one of them has loads of options to play with!
Note: Most of the things you see in the screenshots are controllable from Simplistic Control

Note: Make sure to check donors list inside Simplistic Control in the about section.
Well, we honestly hate asking for anything from users, and that policy won't change, we will ask nothing from you. Tho if you feel like you want to support our work, you are free to donate.
We assure you that all donations coming are for the ROM development, expanding our work to benefit the S2 is our biggest priority.

The ROM installation involves the same procedure that all ROMs use.
Important: The ROM will always be a non-wipe, so that the user has the right to choose, however, we almost always recommend a wipe except if you want to install an update pack.
Instructions:
*Download the Zip, don't extract it.
*Move the zip to the internal sdcard of your phone
*(Root Required) reboot into ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM)
*Use volume buttons and home or power button to navigate.Or use touch if you have the touch CWM. Choose Install Zip from sdcard.
* Then, Choose zip from internal sdcard. Navigate to the ROM desired, and select it.
*Highlight "YES" and confirm, then wait till it finishes
*Reboot and you're DONE! Wait till the phone boots.
NOTE: Do Not Fix Permissions, or else you will have problems.
To be written.

OK first impressions abouthis rom:
Much much faster than any other 4.0.4 rom
Very smooth.
So far very stable.
I think that the team made a very good job.
I can say nothing about battery because its to soon for that.
One thing that its annoying (and this is personal) is the Jellybean contacts. There no option to delete all contacts at once, you have to delete them one by one. Also there no option to hide email contacts (you have to delete them).
So is there any way to have back the Samsung contacts?
This would be very helpful to me.
Well done one more time.
Thank you all for your great work.

Re: [ROM][Team WHOMP!] Whompasaurus Rom BETA [ALL4] 2/17/13
I saw you needed testers....i was waiting for a thread on it to show up so I can try something else.

Really can't wait to try this. THANKS!
Originally we were going to port the Sprint Rom because it would be easier since we didn't have the device, but we figured it would be better to provide a bug free rom with it based on Verizon. Neither me or Evolution have this device so all the feedback on the rom helps. This release has been tested by some already and a new one is in the works. One issue is the boot animations so far. It seems that Verizon may use a different method for getting boot animations working because we have tried a lot of methods to get it going with no luck. If you have any input let us know. Thanks guys!

Goodness at all the options...I'll try this the next free day/ flash day that I have
Yup. I'll try this thing out. I can get you a nice review video once you get out of beta.

Sure would appreciate it. We have been hesitant to release because we want to only post stable builds but with out the device we had to compromise since we had a lot if requests asking for help porting it.

I'll tell you any bugs that I find. Always love a new ROM. Defiantly one with a sweet dinosaur. Haha.
After choosing my options, install went extremely quick (about 5-7 seconds) which kinda worried me. Seems to be stuck on the boot screen right now (not getting to bootani and softkeys aren't lighting up). I'll give it another 5 mins before I give up though.
EDIT: OK it's not booting. bummer

What options did you choose in aroma? Btw I will have another build tomorrow if all goes well with the testing in the morning. Might be a little bumpy till we get out of beta but that is expected since we dont have the device.

Can't remember exactly but.. I chose all of the Red coloring options, 50% transparency (the only other option was no transparency), right hand clock, and left all of the other options as is (they were checked by default).
The install went way too fast though... I could pretty much tell that it didn't actually install correctly.

If you have a chance can you please choose the save log option in Aroma after install and PM it to me or attach it here so I can take a look at it.

Nevermind. I'm stupid. I installed the MOD version because I read over it took quickly and thought that it was a non-standard install (I thought the first option was non-customizable and the second allowed for customization). I didn't realize that the second option is ONLY after having installed the ROM because I wasn't paying enough attention. I'm running the install again (I expect it should work properly this time). I'll report back in a few mins.

Alright everything went smoothly. Only things that I've noticed so far are the annoying GPS icon at the top can't be removed and the kernel install went a little wierd. I selected Perseus kernel but during the install it said that both Perseus and Saber were installed. When I went to check in About Phone it now says that Saber is installed
I also don't see the option for AOSP lockscreen anywhere.. (but perhaps I'm just not looking in the right place?)
