I saw your previous post, and while I appreciate that you retracted it, I'm very much the owner of an EVO 4G LTE and have never at all owned a Samsung device. Not trolling, just wanted to post a story that I know no one really wants to give any coverage.
I defended Samsung because I didn't believe for a moment that the phone "randomly exploded". The idiot tried to claim it did, and got his ass handed to him when the Fire Department found out it had to do with microwave damage.

I love the build quality on this phone. I can't speak for Samsung devices (my father has an ET4G, and that's pretty decent), but I enjoy the more solid "metal" feeling of this phone than I do the original EVO 3D.

Yeha thats crazy. I seens that updated post from Engadget yesterday. I was kinda shocked by how people were puuting all the blame on Sammmy. But honestly, what did th eguys think was gonna happen when he put it in the microwave LOL. Hvae u guys used the SGSIII? its nice man. i actually like it. It's still Samsung's fault. The phone should have handled its time in the microwave much better than it did. I'm sure my EVO LTE would have came out of the microwave with perfectly cooked hot dogs and Ramen Noodles.

man 5 phones, it gets to a point where some of you will find something wrong with a phone no matter what. The evo's and htc have a history or light leakage, dont know about screen misalignment, I really dont know how the hell that even looks like. I could think my screen is misaligned but damn it makes me think its in my head, when I use the phone it seems pretty damn straight to me. I am just confused why not just get another phone. Get the Nexus or wait for something else.

So check this out..
I had my phone charging in my truck. I then went into 7-11 cuz kids were bugging me for a slurpee on this hot as F day. Was in store maybe 10mins.
When I got back into my truck I went to use my phone and it had frozen up so I did a battery pull to boot it back up. After reboot my screen is cut off 1/2" on right side (shown below and taken with my wifes crappy IPhone 4). Now the weird part is..I took a screen shot to post to see if anyone had this problem and after looking at the screen shot the screen shot looks normal.. WTF!!
Anyone have this problem?
Anyways!!
I took it to the sprint store and my replacement will be in Tues.

The screen shot looked normal because the actual homescreen on ur phone is there, however part of your LCD is burnt out.
At least you get a replacement!

You can root just fine using HTC's unlock method. You just can't flash kernels or recoveries with modified kernels.

In no way was I or am I blaming Sprint for my screen. I have been a loyal sprint customer probably longer than MOST on here.(Since 1996) I know its not their fault for the faulty screen.

Both phones are great but the photon was just the right choice for me. I'm a big guy 6'2", 250 pounds . I never thought anything would be to big for me lol but that 4.5 inch screen on the epic touch is over kill.

4.3 to 4.5 diagnol is virtually nothing. on sizemeup it shows the overall sgs2 is only 3 mm wider and exact same height as mopho

What I don't get is that some of these people seem to be Photon owners who for some reason have buyers remorse.
This phone isn't even half a year old and at present works perfectly fine as it is. It got root within the first few weeks, it got 2 updates to address it's initial issues, and the source was just released. No other phone that has been recently released has gotten this kind of treatment. WTF?!
ROMs are created to enhance a phone's capabilities. And at its current capacity, there's nothing to enhance on the Photon. At least nothing that can't be addressed by purchasing apps from the Market...

Other than the awesome camera, and slim unibody design, this Evo LTE really isn't that much better than my old Photon. I'll probably feel differently when LTE is live, but considering there's not even WiMax in Wisconsin, it wasn't that much of an upgrade.
However, Sprint made a mistake and said I was eligible for an upgrade 7 months into my 2 yr contract, and my charging port on the Photon broke...so I'm not really complaining
Basically, if it's time to upgrade, go for it...but if your phone is only a year old, or less, I'd wait - unless you're in a first wave LTE market.

I get what the op is saying about the not worth it if the phone you have is a yr old or less. He is one of the few people that obviously don't upgrade to every increment.
And that he liked his photon enough just like a lot on the 3d couldn't see the point in upgrading to this email phone. Now until we get some hd apps other then hulu the screen is nice. I netflix hd would be a improvement as well as hulu in hd. I have no clue what performance is like on the photon. When it came out it was full of lag. That's how I feel when ppl say stuff like this.. Besides the lack of LTE atm what phone hardware wise is better.. Even with the gs3 u may get more ram (which is nice) but u lose the metal unibody and overall better build
This phone is a major step up from most of Motorola's phones which use crappy screens.
It's also the smoothest HTC phone I've had, and the audio is actually better than the iPhone that it replaced, and that is saying a lot because HTC headphone outs have always been crappy to me

My beats tours sound great.. They did a good job with that especially compared to the evo 3d.. Oh yea the tours are fake too.. Got duped but they sound great to me and are indistinguishable from the real ones unless u really have a good eye

Your on crack. They shoulda called this a downgrade. I wouldnt even be happy with this phone at $100 price point HTC has a long way to go before this phone can compete with the big dogs.

That's it lol? The day I decided to stop forgiving Sprint for 2 years of useless data by switching to Straight Talk AT&T. And this wasn't even the worst speed I've had with them. As someone who used to work for them, I have to say that, at the customer service level, they're better than most companies. They have a nice selection of phones. Hell, even their coverage is pretty damn good. But their data speeds are complete garbage, even before the iPhone came over to their network. Speaking of that, I know they were forced to carry it because Verizon picked it up, but right before the iPhone came out, they doubled the upgrade fee and removed yearly upgrades. Why? Because they spent about $15.5 Billion on iPhone 4's and 4S's and are not going to turn a profit until 2015.

Oh man, thats terrible. I dont even use it for internet or anything that involves data. I just use it as a phone now lol. I have wifi but I just whip out my latop and my son plays with the Evo. Im over here by Disneyland and its bad. Im going to give my wife the LTE and borrow her WIMAX Epic 4G Touch till then.
I pretty much have to use WiFi at home and the office. If I'm anywhere else, forget it. I don't even pull my phone out of my pocket unless it's for a phone call.

Me too. That's great for 3g IMO. Especially since I used to get like .4 up and down.
