My Android phone was hacked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I know that it is probably the best place to share my issue. I have an HTC Leo (HD2) with dorimanx ROM. I have been using it for 6 months already (with Android). Yesterday, while my phone was charging, I have noticed some suspicious activity, my phone was bugging and freezing, didn't want to run applications, was very slow. Then it just froze up and I've done a battery pull. I thought there is something wrong with my phone. But, I have been mistaken. After an hour, my phone was still charging & was lying on the table next week while I was on computer. It just unlocked itself, then went to youtube, launched some video, went to related, comments, then launched another video. My phone was using mobile 3g network. then it went & turned on wifi, there was no available wifi spots. after that it went to cpu tuner, changing the min and max frequencies at the same time, I mean holding both scrolls of min and max freq and lowing them. For example, I can hold both min and max scrolls changing them, only one by one. After that it tried to add a new google account. Then I have just turned off my device again with battery pull. So, as for now I am not using any internet and my device is not getting messed up, at least, I have not noticed. I have erased all history and cookies in the browser. I have a 2 step verification on google, which is linked to this phone. I don't know what's happening. PLEASE HELP ME GUYS, I have though ab factory reset. How can I make it without reinstalling the dorimanx ROM itself. Waiting for your replies and advices, as I AM REALLY FREAKED UP! Thank you ALL!:silly::silly::silly::silly:

Guys, why are you all ignoring my thread???
Probably I have written too much and nobody wants to read...

Its freaky, if what you say is true. Would suggested a factory reset & reflash as most apps are also infected.

Your neighbors, or your friends, They will always stay by your side.

I am actually using CyanogenMod 7, dorimanx ROM. I have reflashed my device a couple of times, but never done factory reset. What will happen after factory reset? Will I keep my ROM configuration, will all my apps be erased? Cauze when it comes to reflashing - it is really difficult, I again to read all the posts, create SWAP and many many things, that I don't want to do again. This ROM was working perfectly till that sh*t happened yesterday.

You can set up an unlock password (you will type when you unlock the phone)
or if you use icecream sandwich, Use face unlock.

Of course, they will stay by my side, but at that time they were not there to take their phone & catch the action going on on my phone. I have now turned my mobile network on & I am prepared, wish me good luck catching the action so I can show this to all of you.

All the best & do a factory reset. Flash a ROM of your choice & do not restore any apps from the current.

I have got a video, 5 mins of suspicious activity, here comes the question, how can I post a video here?

You have a ghost in your house!
But nah, Did u have bluetooth on?

I'd be willing to bet its the charger. I've heard of this happening before and it was a faulty USB cord/port. Try a different cord if you can and see if the problem persists. I know it sounds crazy but I've heard the exact same issue before and that was the problem. There is no such "hack" sophisticated enough to control your phone like that.

And for the guy above me, I think that may be that. It never turned on the screen by itself, but it had a touch bug ( with my old X10 MP) where it would register random touches OR LOTS of touches on a single place

[Q] <Q> How to root Sharp Sh 12-c

Hi everyone,
I googled every conner on internet but could not find any thread showing how to root sharp sh-12c. has anyone rooted the phone ?
thanks
I would really like to know if it can be done as well. I live in Australia and now I really regret getting this phone. So use to a rooted phone. There's just too much bloat on this Docomo device. Because of the locked nand I don't think this phone will ever see root.
we are in same place mate. i live in aus as well. this phone is really annoying with junk japanese applications that's never used.
Hope someone will find a way to root it as well. Want to get rid of the bloat on this and replace a lot of the crappy Sharp system apps like the calendar and calculator.
Have any of you guys got any of the built in market links (specifically Taiko no Tatsujin and Katamari) to work?
you are not alone, i am the user of sh-12c in hong kong ....and search the internet night and day for the solution...
and i found this hope .... h t t p : / /i.imgur.com/3daGV.jpg
Superoneclick supports Gingerbread, anyone tested it on the SH-12c?

how to get root SH-12C
Hi, I'm goroh_kun from japan.
If you can get own risk, and don't care about losing the maker warranty,
I can help you.
But I can't talk the security hole in public, because of legal problem in japan.
If you really want to get root, please DM me, thanks.
I also get alot of reboots on this phone as well. Any one else with this phone having the same problem or is it just me. I think the problem has something to do with the phones data connection cause this only happens when I'm out and about. Not when I'm using wifi. But to be honest I have know idea what's causing it to reboot. It's not caused by some app that I've installed cause the reboots even happens after a fresh reset of phone.
Giiar, try disabling auto 3g/gsm and leave it just on 3g.
Apparently it reboots (sounds like a bug) when it switches between 3g and gsm.
i really regret that bough this phone. the battery runs out of power very fast. nothing special on it.
I guess we need some time to familiar with this JAPANESE Andriod. It works quite differently as compare with other Andriod.(I'd used about 20 models since this year) Lots of tiny enhancements are quite meaningful and interesting. (Manner mode, Veilview(avoid others beside you seeing your screen), extra lock screen for your phone book, answering machine function, etc)
All and all, this is a TRUE 3D phone that can take 3D photo and video for my family and friends. All people around are envy on this and actually it isn't really expensive. I consider the BEST phone on the earth at the time being. (other 3D phones design are truly ugly when compare with this SHARP that 100% made in Japan) I'll not try another non-3D Android from now on...I guess.
Battery is truly the bad thing....I manage to solve this problem with an external battery pack 4800mAh....cheap and good enough, can charge other devices too. (e.g. give a hand to your iPhone friends around when needed..)
Re-booting issue maybe related to your SIM card, I learnt this from Taiwanese users and I'd replaced a new SIM for same reason. Working perfectly for few days from then.
All these are my own experience and hope most of us will enjoy using this phone!

Well I've been keeping it on GSM and only manually turning it to 3g when Browsing. 2 days now and no reboots which is great. Thanks for trying to help. I actually saw this solution on another site and there they mentioned that this is the only known fix for the rebooting issue.

General tips:
-Are you sure that WIFI and GPS are off when you don't use them?
-Have you tried a task killer to check if any unneeded apps are running?
-Have you tried to run on GSM only, to save battery?
-Have you tried "bump charging"? Supposed to increase battery life 50-100%: http://www.gizmocrunch.com/mobile/6754-htc-sensation-evo-3d
Don't have this phone, these are just generic tips that improve other androids stand by time.
Now my phone is on a continuous loop. Doesn't even get into the the screen where they ask for the pin code. Ran into so much issues with this phone. Can't even work out how to do a hard reset so I can get the phone to boot. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance.
could anyone share the method here if you successfully rooted this phone???

hey great info on the power issues and rebooting ive had the same issues my sh-12c turned on and off about 3 times in 5 mins and the placed it did that was while i was traveling in and out of 'dead spots' for signal so hopefully that will help.
Good info on the bump charging i was about to order 5 spare batterys and charge them all lol ill put that on hold for a while and see how this goes prob still need one or two more tho just in case.
Im also looking to root it but im a bit nervous on giving it a go without any confirmations can it toataly brick the phone if it goes wrong or is it quiet safe usually like apples jailbreaks where i could just reinstall the firmware? im very tempted to just click and see what happens lol

Just wondering, were you running anything or recently installed something when it locked up? Have you tried taking out the battery, sim and sd card?
I've tried several combinations (like vol +, vol -, etc) myself when I got the phone, but couldn't get into recovery mode. Hope someone finds out how and lets us know.
I haven't had any issues with mine so far, apart from the bloat, I'm really happy with the phone. Love the 3D on it. Encoding lots of stuff for it.

Maybe it's overload or overheating, unstable ROM/kernel, maybe it's a virus. There can be many reasons.

The thing is, it's not doing anything at the time? Nothing that would overheat it. Also, it's very cold here right now, so weather wouldn't be overheating it either. The ROM/kernel have been fine until recently, neither seemed unstable. A virus...seems unlikely, but I'll install a virus scanner and have a looksie.

Why on earth would it take your forever?
Use use pro version of Titanium backup and you can restore all you backed up apps/app data in once go.
Re-stock device or re-install custom after wiping everything via recovery and if problem persists its likely a hardware issue, either main device or battery.
Didn't find a virus.

If the warranty deadline is not expired, you can try.
try removing your battery and replacing it firmly in place and snapping the cover on firmly into place.
I have had this issue since moving to the larger OEM Samsung battery kit occasionally and I feel it may be q seating issue with the battery, as this method solves it until it gets dropped or bumped about a few times.
Also Sleep of Death I believe requires a reset (7second power button hold) whereas my issue is resolved by turning the phone on normally (1sec power button press) hence how I found the battery issue..
just my experiences and $0.02..
It just randomly reset and took half the battery left with it. Bah. Seems to be the same issue as this topic. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103087&page=14

[Q] Never works

So I've been trying to install CM10 on my Verizon Galaxy S3 and after the past 5 times, it will never fully work. I've been flashing gapps like everyone says and still nothing. Each time I will restore my apps+data with Titanium Backup Pro and while it does restore, none of my media elements will work. My contacts do not work, cannot open my gallery and so on. This is quite frustrating because I would really like to use CyanogenMod. I do the standard wipe data/factory rest every time before I try and flash the ROM again and still nothing. Any insight on my problem would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more info on how I've been going about all this just ask.

First off, what's hacked and how do you know you've been hacked? Then you have to find out how they hacked you. Was it thru an app? Thru Wi-Fi? Did you login on a false webpage like the common Facebook hack?
If you believe you've been hacked change ALL your passwords to EVERYthing. Even Wi-Fi passwords. Make sure you do it from a different device or pc. preferably using https. Then wipe everything possible. Internal, external storage, cookies etc.....

Ref 440 - I applaud your faith in your fellow man. That is rare in today's post-naiveté world, and should be treasured. But as far as this story goes, either incredibly incompetence or lying is involved... But NOT hacking. Just not consistent. Hacking can sometimes be hard to spot, and then only through exhaustive analysis. If the OP's story is even half true I suspect the case really involves some really dumb action that does NOT involve hacking.
But frankly, I got bigger problems. After the upgrade to stock 4.1.2 I'm getting a series of "No SIM card" errors, even after a SIM replacement. Now going to Google....
The way many have overcome the no sim card error has been to return the phone to stock ICS and the modem to the LF6, then go on to the rom, kernel, and modem of choice.
Using the emergancy firmware installation option of Kies has also been used.

New ROM for HTC JetStream?? Is it real?

Hi guys,
Hope this post is not violating any of the rules of this section of the forum. It's basically a question for a friend of mine who owns one of these tablets and asked me if I think the information is legit and he should try updating his tablet with it.
He found the following link/info that I tried searching for on Xda Developers without any luck and looks suspicious to me
* *http://www.443kitkat.com/mp3-0/htc-jetstream-4141.html
Please let me know if you think that's an actual ROM that works?
Thanks,
Alex

Hive III seems to be stable for me. I have to airplane mode it every so often (~days) because the cellular connection won't work, but I had to do that before Hive kernel too.
I haven't been working on much new since Hive III. A couple of months ago I tried getting Android 3.2 to because it shares the same kernel, but I couldn't get it working. Now that my second Jetstream is broken (the digitizer quit on me) I don't have a machine to test things with. If I pick up another one then I might try it again.
Android 4.0+ is beyond what I am capable of with the Jetstream unfortunately. It would require some serious patience, equipment and even luck.
I have a jetstream running hive...and it keeps rebooting what can I do to stop it?

I don't have a lot of information to go on, so I can only give you a few wild suggestions. They are as follows.
Perform a factory reset. This fixes many Android problems, but you will lose all data.
Flash a different kernel*. This is recommended if Hive kernel is the source of instability.
Get a logcat of the crash. This might help troubleshoot the problem.
* Alternatively install Hive II -- or a different ROM.
A little more information about what caused your problem will allow for more informed suggestions.
I tried doing the factory reset...both by going into settings, and selecting factory reset and by going into twrp and selecting it. In both cases it didnt do it. I am going to try reinstalling Hive iii sometime in the next few hours. I backed up the current situation using the twrp backup to an sd card already. How do I avoid screwing up the wifi connection?
I will search for info on logcat and try to provide that...
As for what happened.... I am currently on a road trip. I cause because I was putting the jetstream on stand by and not turning it completely off the battery went down to 0%. I connected it to an external battery and turned it on but after 3-4 times of trying this and it dying within minutes I gave up and let it charge...but again not turning it completely off. About 6 hrs later I go to it and turn it on and it starts cycling through it's boot loader , every 2-3 minutes. It will load all its apps and such and they all work for the time peroid that the device stays on. Then it abruptly goes black and then reboots

Refer to the explanation from the Hive workaround thread here.
It sounds from the description in the previous post that the device is crashing when coming out of standby. I had many similar problems during the development of Hive kernel, but none have been reported since the final version. The reason is most likely the kernel, so the best advice is to try a different kernel and see what happens.

That could be helpful if this issue persists.
