Vaulty on the TF300TG - Transformer TF300T Themes and Apps

Hi everyone. Just got me a TF300TG last week thanks to my wife, and so far it has been great.
I chanced upon this app called Vaulty- the free version, and I thought it works great. Just some quirks though. Pictures are fine, but certain videos hidden by it seems to be no longer playable. I don't use the Vaulty in- built video player, but MXplayer. And to add, these videos were running ok before.
Any idea, anyone?

HBOgo app

i know it has been asked before, but is anyone working on an hbo app? I can go to the website to watch, but it is so choppy. My wife's ipad has the app and its awesome. I have the app on my atrix phone and its awesome. My galaxy tab...not so much using the browser.

What sort of internet connection do you have on each? 3G, wifi, 4G?
I use dolphin for pad and just use the website. Once a video loads up and plays for a minute it starts to freeze or looks choppy. But I waited it out once and after a minute or so it plays just fine. Just have to wait out that initial freeze of video, only takes a minute or so.
Would love an app though. Maybe with ICS.

i will have to try dolphin. I am using hbogo on my wifi at the house. I have comcast high speed internet. i have no problem streaming on my computer. I have no problem with my wifes ipad using the app. I watched a whole episode of band of brothers using the stock browser and it is really choppy.
It will have moments of being really good, but then it will change resolution and stutter. The video wont keep up with the audio. It makes it very difficult to watch.

Watch a movie while surfing the Web!!! Stick it!!!

I came across this app by chance while bored and searching for new apps to play with and wanted to share with the community. If this has been shared before (did not come up in a search for me) my apologies.
While this app is still young and a little rough around the edges, it's still pretty awesome. It allows for a resizable and movable pop up window overlay (that's themeable!!) to play a video as you do other things like surf the web or play a game. Think Picture in Picture on your TV.
It even allows multiple instances of video under a lot of circumstances. Basic but useful multitasking all the way.

It's $1.50 in the android market and definitely provides something that made my iOS friends at work VERY jealous of today. I added some screenshots of it running on my TFP. Video ran very smoothly even with Fruit Ninja playing in the background or multiple tabs.
P.S. It also ran smoothly on my Epic 4G on Gingerbread though it's not as useful on a phone screen!!
Can you resize the video window?

Yes. You can manually resize by dragging the arrow on the bottom right corner or expand by pressing one of the soft buttons on the windows titlebar.
I actually was able to play 2 videos simultaneously on my Epic 4G's 480 x 800 display.
You can also position the window to any part of your desktop if it gets in the way.
Just ran across this yesterday. Pretty awesome!
They also have a nice free calculator app that floats on top too.

Would be cool if you could run apps side by side(Netflix, web browser)

very cool, was hoping to find something like this!
Aside from smoothing it out and getting rid of some small glitches I just wish it had the ability to go fullscreen.
Just tested this on my Galaxy S2 and its very impressive !
Great find, i cant wait to try this out when my prime comes back!
Thanks for the heads up! Just got it! Awesome!

Interesting to note that the next version of android with the help of Intel will finally have a windowed environment. (didn't say windows, as I don't want to get sued)

watching a Movie now as I type this. I think the video format would make a big difference in the quality of play back. My current movie is a MVK (bluRay) file and it's incredibly choppy. But pretty impressive just the same!
It's not using the hardware videodecoder of tegra 3. I hope they can fix it. Because this app is really awesome.

I've had great success with 720p mp4's. If this is without hardware decode then I'd love to see what happens if they do eventually add it. Overall I am very pleased with the app and hope that they continue to improve it.
works great! I wonder if this can be done streaming a video from your pc?
I converted some mkvs to mp4s and they play very smoothly on my prime.
I tried playing a .3gp video on my Xperia play and it also played very smoothly.
somebody give this man a medal...extra smooth on the prime

What did you use to convert it? Any programs i try using (forget the name, derp) either come back unplayable format or really choppy or crap quality from blueray rips.
If i wanted to re-encode the movies i have to the exact resolution of the TF201 for best quality and lowest file size, what do you suggest?

FREE: Improve youtube lag/stutter/buffering with TubeMate

this is just a suggestion for anyone that is having the same issues as me, which is simply constant lag/buffering issues with the stock youtube app. running on what i felt was a fast enough internet connection, i would constantly have buffering issues both on HD and non-HD (a lot more consistently with HD).
after looking for weeks, i found an app called TubeMate (http://goo.gl/mzrZT)
it is currently only available via the amazon app store. it seems to have a few other features besides viewing the videos (like downloading, downloading as mp3, etc..) but all i really care for is being able to stream a video in HD quality w/out looking embarrassed.
hopefully this will help some of you that are also experiencing this issue. if you aren't, well i'm really happy for you.
Since its a free app, upload the apk.
didn't realize DLing from the amazon appstore would be a big deal. but here you go.

you can get it here for free

for the guys involved in this thread so far, are you also experiencing buffering issues with your prime and if so, let us know if TubeMate helps out. i've certainly seen a HUGE improvement with all youtube videos to a point where i only stream HD now.
The app works great and also allows you to download video or save it as an .mp3
I have used this app for years on all my devices and on my prime since I purchased it. Wouldn't use anything else great app

Yes it works great on my prime

i have installed latest tube mate app but can not download any video. it gives an error.
screen shot is attached.
please help
I use it to download videos, not stream. The UI is rather ugly ;P
Can someone clarify: Is this app a REPLACEMENT app that uses youtube (what I think it is)? Or is it an app that somehow optimizes the native youtube app (what I hope it is)?

it's another app that does not optimize the youtube app.
while i love it and still use it, i must put my disclaimer that the issue with the laggy youtube ended up being the Wifi/BT issue. beyond that, it still speeds up buffering better than the stock app.

I haven't had any real problems with streaming vids, but I might check it out regardless. Faster buffering is always nice.

Okay, just wanted to thank you for pointing out the app. It's great, love it. I' ve hit the thanks button.
the ui is ugly in this app but it works amazingly faster than stock app. plus it lets you download the videos or you can download them as mp3 to listen in music player. works great. I love the look of stock YouTube app but sick of the buffering on some vids. I have high speed wireless so no reason it should be buffering like that. this app eliminates that basically.
whenever i click to watch a video in tube mate it pops up asking me which player to use - youtube or tubemate- i choose tubemate but then the video doesnt load...anyone else had this problem>?
should be called buffer be gone!!
Gotta say +1000000 for this app, I use Crackle to watch some movies, took away all the buffering, youtube too no more buffering..... excellent app!!!

XBMC on the ATP

So now we have an XBMC .apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772433
Has anyone else tried it? It works well for me. It works well with my TV via HDMI
edit
I'm running andowook with _motley's latest kernel.
I get very low volume, even if I go into sound and bump it up.
35 minutes into the movie, the app stopped for no reason.
docking and undocking seem to close the app
I haven't got green flickers yet, but I get the green flickers in openelec all the time, so thats not android specific.
For me it the audio on it is crap and sometimes the whole app flickers rapidly.
Maybe I need to reboot...

I have tried it, mainly streaming video from my Serviio server and it works like a charm. What an amazing app. And it can only get better,
Definitely reboot. About the 3rd time I fired it up after installing some add ons it began running like a charm. The first time you use it there may be a very long start and turn off period. That's ok.
The XBMC interface is running smoothly on my TP.
When i try to stream (WiFI) a X264 movie with DTS over SMB it stutters like mad.
I hope this is because of network speed. I'll try to play the same movie over USB, i hope this works better.
But overall, it's its nice to see XBMC on my Prime

Oh yeah, isn't it software decoding only? For now anyway

As far as I can tell, software only.
Installed the icefilms repo and watched full episode of Eureka. it took a restart of xbmc b4 it worked though. I am ging to try t compile this for my google tv. If it compiles i'm throwing my appletv through a window.

It is software only. I have always used it as a content streamer though, not much as a local player.
I wonder if this can and will support HDMI CEC.
I gave it ago on my Prime running the stock rom, i was quite impressed with how well it worked.
I could map my SMB network shares on my Windows Home Server perfectly and XBMC would stream anything SD fine, 720p MKV played some what ok with random frame drops / jerkiness every couple of seconds, 1080p video was very jerky and not really any watchable.
Plugins such as the BBC iPlayer worked (sometimes buggy), YouTube and Ted Talks also worked very well.
Video overview of my experience here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmttML0LNm4
Very impressed so far, a big well done and thanks to the XBMC team :good:

It does the flicker part on my TFP only if I go to the "Settings" option. Other thatn that it works.
I tested MP4, AVI and MKV formats yersterday. It lags with the MKV playback.
I am also getting alot of background flicker in xbmc. Then sometimes the screen goes black. Going to try a reboot to see if it goes away.

I may be wrong but I believe that these versions of XBMC don't support hardware acceleration just yet. I haven't been on top of the development of this app but that tidbit was enough for me to wait for the final release.
github is here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/commits/android-rebase-8/
There are two builds AFAIK
zefie's: http://files.persona.cc/zefie/files/cell/androidapk/xbmc-unofficial/?C=M&O=D&S=&P=
and the one on miniland: https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/1/topics/136
and no hardware acceleration.

I had the same issue... It's because somehow it doesn't work when your volume isn't at anything but 100%. If it's set to the loudest it can be, the sound works fine.
It's not dead yet. Plenty of ROM development going on in the dev section.
Sent on the mobile device (there might be more mistakes).
XBMC 12 Frodo
Has anyone tried XBMC 12 Frodo RC3 on ATP? I have a TF201. I'm a long time user of XMBC since the original Xbox, and the app looks great. I'm very happy to see this. But unfortunately, with this version, the videos lag quite a bit and I get absolutely no audio. I've tried changing the audio out options and playing music/video with no luck. I did not yet try pushing the video/music out through HDMI yet, but not really much point yet.
Anyone else trying have experience with this?

4th Gen 8.9 HDX OS5 steaming app video playback issues.

All, I updated to OS5 a couple of weeks ago and since then I noticed that a few streaming apps seem to not function. I originally noticed the Showtime Anytime app wouldn't stream properly. The audio would play fine but the video would freeze and skip around. I don't use this app often so I figured maybe an app update would come later. Well, yesterday I tried to use WatchESPN and it was doing the same. It is a little different though as I can reboot the device and if I start WatchESPN right away I can watch something, but if I close the app and come back into it, it again does the freezing. Additionally, last night I tried to watch the GOP debate on the Fox News app and it did the same thing as the Showtime app. I did a factory reset to see if maybe something got hosed, but upon reinstalling the apps, I get the same response from the video. Again, the audio is fine. Normally I would think that the App is causing the issue but with multiple apps it looks like maybe a video rendering issue with the OS5? Can someone else test these apps and let me know what you are seeing? All of these apps worked fine before doing the upgrade. Hulu, Netflix, TWC and other apps work fine. Thanks.
