Network just lost - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I was just using the miui rom and I rebooted and the couldn't pick up any reception so I pulled out the sim and reinserted and then rebooted a few times. My contract is still up for 10 months and I'm constantly getting emergency calls only. I tried a wipe and then changing to cm9 but nothing. Should I call my operator or stock rom?

O2 is down in the UK mate for a few specific people.

I'm on Giffgaff (runs on O2 network) and I've had no signal since about 1pm. As said it's a network issue. Just wait, it'll get sorted.

[Q] Having reception problems with my i9100.

Hi there everyone.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII. I live in Australia, have an unbranded phone, and am currently with TPG as my phone provider.
I have been experiencing these problems for a long time, and after trying to figure out what's wrong with it, it's time to ask for help. Haha.
These problems started after I flashed a new modem after installing a ROM. Previous to flashing, the reception had been fine. After flashing the ROM, and not the modem, my reception was still as good as it was when I first received the phone. However, after flashing a new modem, the reception dropped significally. Where my brother also with a i9100 could receive full bars of HSPA/3G, I could only receive 2/3 bars of G. Where he would have 3 bars of G (in our house, it has this stupid insulation that really nerfs reception), I would receive absolutely no reception.
I have tried countless modems (pretty much ever modem since K13, testing for reception, but never have much luck, maybe a 1 bar fluctuation up/down).
Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? How I could fix it? Thanks very much.
find the modem your brother have ,download it from the intratech and flash it
have you tried KE7?
I got a good expereance with this on Data speed, but I dont know about reception strenght.

He hasn't updated for a while, and is using the K13 modem. I have tried it, along with the K14, and KE7 already.
do a factory reset without the sim and sd card....
I tried factory resetting without the SD and Sim card, but it still didn't work.
Any other ideas? Haha.
Do you have i9100 or i9100t

I haven't, maybe that's the next thing I'll try. But does your box say i9100, or i9100t? Mine just says i9100. Haha.
Edit: Omggg I love you. Hahaha. I flashed a T-modem, and now I'm getting full reception. Thanks somuch!

Loss of Service - No SIM Card?

I've been using my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII for the past few days and three times I've been using the data connection and all of a sudden, it would lose data...
In the notification bar, it would flash "No SIM Card" and then would begin searching for service. It would take about 30 seconds to a minute to regain full service.
Is anyone else getting this issue?

I have been getting that also. My phone is constantly freezing and rebooting. I am getting ready to flash back to stock to make sure my phone isn't dorked.

Hi guys, i'm having the exact same issue! While I'm at my house (3G area, not 4G) when I go to hit talk it immediately drops from 3 signals to the no signal symbol, then I get the No SIM card message too. After a few seconds it'll bounce back and show full signal again. I troubleshooted over the phone with techsupport last night and they recommended to swap out the SIM card or the phone. Went to the local store this morning for a SIM swap and it was better but not 100% fixed while I was at work (10miles from home). Stopped at the store again after work and after some arguing convinced them to replacement (phone would not act up at the store in the 4G area at all, was rock solid). Just got home and again with the new phone and a 3rd SIM card its doing it. I'm not sure what to think now. There were 2 other people in the store complaining of the same issue when I was there, all galaxy s3s. Wondering if its a tower issue in the area (Poughkeepsie, NY area) or software problem. Seems hard to believe its a network issue if the phone itself thinks there's no SIM card in it (and previous phones in the same area worked fine). Maybe some kind of software / firmware issue?
I'm really bummed out. My mom and sister just got the same phone and no problems in Chicago and Detroit areas. What areas are you having issues in? Hopefully we can get more info going, not many postings about this on the web yet....

I really don't want to send this thing back...

Just an update, this happens when I send text messages. It doesn't happen every time, but it just did it twice in a row.

if you still have IMEI go change your sim card.

The "Cant connect to Network" problem has come up again...........on the new phone

The "Cant connect to Network" problem has come up again...........on the new phone
Dunno if its just my bad luck or what exactly is going on
Anyone else have this happen to them??
Alls been well since i got the replacement 3 weeks ago and then today it happens again
I get this problem at work but not at home. What's your connection like? Many APNs connected to it? That's what seems to be my problem at work

Everything is fine no matter where i am, just this morning it reverted back to the "emergency calls only", same as what my 1st Galaxy S3 did and when i go to select network it just says cant connect to network!
Sim card works in other phones no problem
Is your SIM card recognized by the phone?
Does it have a SIM Serial Number? (Afaik you can e.g. use Z Device Test to see the SIM S/N)
Sorry are you talking about cellular network or WiFi?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Cellular network, wifi is working fine, even my internet data works when wifi is off!! Its making calls and sending texts
So annoying
Phone is packed up and being sent to Samsung Service Centre 2moro anyway
Maybe it's your sim card, could it be damaged in any way? (cutting it down etc...)
Clean the contacts on the sim

Sim card is the original out of my iphone 4S and iv cleaned it with a micro fibre cloth!!
As i said the sim works fine in other phones

[Q] Problem with signal...

My Galaxy Ace i (gt-s5839i) is having an issue, It cannot register SIM with it's mother network.
It was working perfectly fine, three or four days ago, when we're abroad. We were using Polish SIM. Now, when I am using a SIM with roaming (Polish one) it goes well, but when I insert a local SIM (UK, giffgaff [runs on O2], or plain O2), it doesn't.
You can actually see the signal bars, you can search for network providers, but you can not connect to any of them.
Simcards are working in other handset, so they're fine.
I've tried to reflash roms, both with clockworkmod and odin.
Both branded and unbranded.
I've SIM unlocked it again...
Has anybody any clues?
Thanks in advance.
Problem may be with the firmware..
Firmware may be of different country..

S2: No calls, but mobile internet works

Hello,
I'm trying to help a friend of mine from Italy. She has a S2 which had the strange problem that phoning was not possible.
First thing I did was resetting the phone which didn't help. Then I flashed paranoid android and at first it worked with Italian Sim Cards.
The phone was left untouched for a few weeks. When I used it, the old problem was back. Then I tried flashing CM, didn't work. Then the Samsung Stock Rom for Italy, then for Germany, then a branded one (the original), downgraded version also. Still, it didn't work. Just the mobile internet worked. IMEI is not corrupted.
The really strange thing is that every time it worked with my German Sim Card - over Roaming. I could call someone and receive calls.
Technically speaking, there is just one modem for both roaming and national calls, right? But how is it possible that it doesn't work for national calls? I tried several providers, but nothing.
When you say 'mobile internet works', do you mean 3g or wi fi?
If you mean wi fi and not 3g....is it possible that the phone has been blacklisted or the sim blocked?
Have you tried searching for and selecting the correct carrier in the phones settings?

No, I mean 3G. I don't think it's possible, she bought it regularly in a shop and had suddenly this problem. But what could be a reason for banning it?
Yes, I tried to connect manually. Different carries are found, but it cannot connect to any carrier, it says try later!
Check the battery.
Try some other battery you will be shocked to know that its caused due to battery loosing current and this especially happens on low charge levels
