[Q] 1080p video playback in ICS? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello
I tried to watch a 1080p video (.mkv) with my droid razr using ES file explorer via lan but all I get is great picture but no audio(with mxplayer). It crashes with dice player, lagging with vplayer and does not work at all with moboplayer or rocklite. Any suggestions? I tried activating SW sound but still no sound in mxplayer..the picture is fine but no audio. Suggestions?
thanks
I am on .33 ICS
EDIT: I tried BSplayer and the audio and picture worked fine but I still want to know why Mxplayer wont play 1080p sound? very odd indeed! The most praised players on the market can't even play 1080p without crashing? lol
Diceplayer: Crashed
MX Video Player: Great picture, no lag, no problem but no sound!
Vplayer= choppy and laggy
Rocklite= crashed
Moboplayer=choppy and laggy.
BSplayer= works fine for both audio and picture! This is the one you want to use for 1080p or 720p video playback on ur razr running ICS!

you dont get sound with MX if tje mkv has dts sound. otherwise select software decoder. works like charm, but the phone's output isnt capable of 1080p

Faster Video Playback

Can someone recommend an android app for increasing the playback of video files? I've found a number of audio apps, but nothing popping up for video.
QQPlayer and MX Player work very well on my Optimus One. Video playback is very smooth. Just dont expect to watch HD Video on an non HD device, playback will be slow then no matter what you use.
I recommend Mobo player, works fine on my SGSII
Qq and MD is best it support avi vob divx mkv all format
Best one I have found by far is Dice Player. Mobo Players is really good too but I use it mostly for running software mode to test stability.
BSplayer lite is quite good, very similar to diceplayer, but its free.

If you want to change playback speed of video. try diceplayer.
diceplayer can change playback speed up to x1.8(HW) , x1.5(SW)
Do any players support 3:2 pulldown and proper syncing with the refresh rate?

[Q] Video playback issues

Maybe its just me, but I've been having some odd issues with video playback on my new Tablet S.
Basically, anything that the Tablet natively supports works just fine. But anything that requires using a Software Decoder (like MX Video Player, or QQPlayer etc) goes weird. The audio and the video will become unsynced as the video playback framerate is much lower than the original file while the sound plays at the normal speed, sending it far ahead of the displayed video.
Does anyone have any suggestions on better ways to play non-supported video files?
Dice player has worked for me without any problems. I've heard of problems with sync on MX but who knows, give Dice a try and see if it helps...
MOBOPLAYER.

I'm using BS Player lite, had no problems with avi or mkv.

How to play 720P High Profile videos?

Hello,
I know there seems to be some sort of issue with Tegra 2 chipsets not decoding video properly but I read that with the right codec and video players you can play 720p high profile MKVs/MP4s, how can I do that?
Also, does it matter what ROM I'm on? Like CM7 vs Stock MotoBlur? I'm on CM7 and I tried a few video apps and most face some sort of problem with 720p videos stuttering and whatnot.
Thanks.

That's one of the most important issue of the Atrix.
I can't play most of my HD anime videos fluently on my Atrix because the hardware doesn't support high quality HD mkv videos.
But I've heard the Samsung S2 does.... -.-
And that makes me angry!
Anyway if you not afraid of trying HD videos on your Atrix, you should try 'MX video player' and 'V player' (both need separate codecs).
Both are great but 'V player' is the only player which can show subtitles from mkv videos which I stream with my w-lan router from my external hard drive.

If you haven't yet, try MX Video player. It uses some software trickery and plays most if not all of my hd videos beside being the best video player in many aspects. I tested on the phone only so don't know what the output to an external monitor would be.
Don't forget to install the right codec and always toggle 'software fast mode' on the screen if videos get stuck. It also gives you the ability to zoom into the picture.
Regards
Edit: Blizzard22 - I much prefer MX to VPlayer. Especially as the former seems more optimized for tegra...
Not sure if it has problems with subtitles in certain containers... until now subtitles worked for me and their rendering is very pleasing.

I have both player and I personally prefer MX video player but the subtitles are missing if you stream your videos with mx.
V player can show the subtitles and that's why I prefer V player.
But for normal use I definitely prefer mx before visiting player.

I think this is a problem of the Tegra, High Profile videos not work with HW decoding, I have tryed MX player, but, all the times it loses sync or drop frames.
the temp solution for me is recode videos to Baseline profile in 720p
VLC is coming for android, maybe that will be the golden egg.

if they use HW decoding, but will be stuck on Baseline Profile again
The two players I have the most luck with are Dice and Mobo. Try them out.

Playback 1080p Issues

When I try to playback 1080p .mp4 files recorded on a camcorder the hardware decoder freezes a lot.
The only differences I can see in the 2 formats is the one recorded on the Note is at 60fps and the camcorder is at 30fps (59. 29..) and the audio and video streams are reversed.
I also have problems using the HW for even some SD mp4 resolution vids (software plays them fine).
Is this a known issue and is it actually hardware on not fixable?
Well the HD issue is solved - I had the fps backwards. And the bitrate was also way high.
That does not solve why SD videos are jerky using HW and OK using SW.
Try a different video player. Like MX.

Been using MX for a year. MX plays my SD files fine with its software decoder, but choppy with the HW as does every other player I have tired.
So it looks to me like a bad HW decoder.
Try dice player. Works great for me with even 1080p. Better than any others I've tried. Seems that the hardware decoding actually works properly.

HD video playback?

I've always experienced stuttering HD video playback on all my devices. I've used dice player and Mx player. The hardware and software acceleration used with my gnex, never could I get HD video to play stutter free. Hoping for some better results with the GS3.

I've have watched a few 720p videos in the stock video player stutter-free. I even tried the pip feature, and the phone wasn't lagging when changing homescreens while the video was playing in a floating window on top. I have also streamed some hd movies in the plex app without any stuttering.
Playing 720p stutter free works on my 2 year old vibrant too. I guess you should check 1080p high profile videos with high bitrate video and audio. Also i wonder how sg3 handles multi channel audio formats like AAC, AC3, DTS etc
Sadly Snapdragon GS3 , doesn't handle HD videos to well , worse then my GS2 , specifically 60fps HD videos , it skips and stutters horribly ,my old International GS2 plays them smoothly. Kinda bumped about it , im guessing Samsung SOC has beefier hardware decoder.
But, if all your 720,1080p videos are only 23~30 fps you will be fine.
When I get it I'll mess around with encoding some videos to play well with it. If anyone finds a sweet spot with encoding videos with handbrake post some details please. Thanks.
