[Q] USB JIGS for US Samsung Galaxy S3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I saw this on Ebay.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MICRO-U...1168&pid=100033&prg=1011&rk=2&#ht_2115wt_1256 Don't know if it work. Maybe those guys who brick their S3 can try?

Thats pretty sweet. It would be good to have one for just in case...... If it works.

Doesn't reset the counter yet for SGSIII
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

All Jigs do the same , bring you to the download mode if your phone not completely bricked, nothing more there is nothing special about S3 Jig , just marketing. If you have old Jig from GS1 days that will work also.

Just used the jig I have for the SE4GT, but it's not resetting the binary count on my Sprint S3, even though it does bring it to download.
I tried it after reading Chainfire's jig 1st recommendation.
I'll now install Triangle Away.
I'm on Build number ending in LG2
Triangle Away by Chainfire works perfectly!
I purchased it from the Market to support the Developer, even though you can dl it for free.

USB JIG for ATT Galaxy S2

Does anyone know if the USB JIG to reset the flash counter and fix bricked phones used with the international galaxy s2 version will work with ATTs version of the galaxy s2?
Thanks.
I guess I was on the assumption that the same USB jig I used for my captivate will be the same? If not for the other sgs2's is it different? I thought I had read that the captivate USB jigs worked on the international version. I guess we will find out come Sunday.
I assume they will be the same, I just ordered one from ebay. Never needed it with my captivate, I've had it since the first week it was released and flashed to may roms to count with no problems.
I read in the European forum that it does work but. Also something about putting a resistor in series between a certain connector and the pc. Had to do with flashing something. The details escape me.
sent from my Infuse at Tranquility Base.
it will probably still work to force it into download mode, as for reseting the flash counter we'll have to wait and see.
Unfortunately, I had no luck with the captivate jig on my i9100. It didn't go to download mode for me. Not sure if this will apply to the AT&T version or not.

I ordered the jig from Mobile Tech Videos that was supposed to work with the AT&T SGSII, but no luck in getting it into download mode.
Mine worked. It measures at 302.1k.
!(wired)?(coffee++)wired);
Vibrant
I have one that work with Vibrant T959
I just tested and it worked with both the AT&T version and the i9100 as I have both.

I just received mine from Mobile Tech Videos and it worked as expected. Turned off SGSII, inserted JIG, download mode appeared, custom binary count is zero, removed, powered up phone and the yellow triangle is also gone.
Well worth the $9 even if you only use it in case you ever need to return or exchange the device.

Same with the one I paid $ 4.90 for off of Ebay, just powered off the phone, plugged it in while driving home, phone instantly went to download mode with a message of Download Update.zip removed. I pulled the batter and no more sgsII i9100 and yellow triangle on my att sgs2. It was weird to see i9100 there for an i777 lol but well worth it in my opinion.
But having rooted and unlocked as well as saving the efs folder was nice and not having that yellow triangle feels better.
HTH,
Charlie
Just ordered my jig to reset the flash counter the only question I have been unable to find an answer to is whether or not I need to revert to stock before using the jig or can I use it with CM7 installed already?

Should work regardless of what you have installed, and should not affect what you have installed in any way.

The JIG works on ALL Android cellphones which use and are compatible with Odin.
It does not matter if the phone is international or not.
got mine for 2 and 1/2 bucks free shipping, worked flawessly, i had to change booloader to older version

Works perfectly with CM7. My jig arrived today and took that silly triangle right off the screen. Easy peasy.... Painless.

$1.29 for three resisters, some old blue painters tape, about five minutes of playing, triangle gone, counter reset....

[Q] Will "Hard Bricking" my Galaxy SII reset flash count?

Recently I got a boot loop on the Galaxy SII screen with the yellow triangle. I was flashing Darky Ressurection 10.1 when suddenly my PC went off "killing" my Galaxy SII.
Now it won't boot, no CWM, no download mode, not even light on the screen so I think that my Galaxy SII is "Hard Bricked".
Odin was just saying "Setting Partitions" or something like that so I think that it was writing something on the phone.
My question is. What could a possible solution for this be. Since I just called Samsung and they want me to take my phone to a Samsung Store so they can fix it (It's still under warranty). So I was just wondering if it's possible to see the counter as I left it (It was on 32-38 I think).

For you (when d/l mode doesnt work anymore): No
For service center: Yes
Basically, if you can't access download mode, you're not able to check your binary counter... but, at the same time, neither can the people servicing your phone.
There's been debate about whether a USB jig can get you into download mode, even when the button combo doesn't, so it's worth trying to pick one up off eBay, and give it a shot.
But, from what I can piece together, if you don't mind lying, just take it in and play dumb, as if it just "turned off, and wouldn't restart...".
I can verify that using a USB jig will remove the yellow triangle and the I9100 text on boot. I just used it literally a couple hours ago on my phone. I picked one up on ebay for about $5 and some change.
I can't post a link yet to the one I got, but do a search on ebay for "Unbrick Samsung Galaxy S II S2 Download mode Jig reset" from seller mipick22 and you should find it. The price went up $1, so it's $4.50 plus shipping instead of $3.50, but still worth the price.
BRAVO !
U just flashed a I9000 ROM on your I9100.
HardBrick GG.
Send it back to sammy, altough I'm not sure they will repair it.
Everything seems fine. Today I left it at a Samsung Store, they took it with the charger (since my excuse was that when it ran out of battery and I plugged it, it won't charge neither start) for about 10 min. and came back with it telling me that they needed to make further repairs on it and to go and look for it in 2 weeks. They gave me some papers where it says that they need to change a cpu clock... not sure what's that though... And Yep, just read the whole number on the thread and it's only for I9000 I'm such an idiot... Q_Q This is the first time I make such a silly mistake... I'm quite glad that I had luck this time but I'm fetching a JIG once my GSII comes back...

Lawl. You're so ****ing lucky.
Try to not do the same mistake.
Altough, I cannot believe that people can't read, and take care about a 500$ phone.
Knowing the number model of a such expensive phone is the first thing to do IMO.

Mic not working

Hi Guys, I've recently discovered an issue where by my mic no longer functions! When making calls the listener on the other end can not hear me.
I've got hold of the sensation rom and updated via CWM but thats still not fixed the issue. Should I do a full restore via CWM?
Voice commands or any other voice app do not work and not able to hear anything neither.
Also if I were to restore everything back to factory settings do I just update with a samsung update(via Kies) or via CWM?
Nah you will need to restore stock in odin. Maybe try a factory reset first, even if you're on a custom rom. But it seems to me like your problem is hardware related.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Tried a factory reset in CWM and its not put it into a boot loop! Shall I boot into download mode and restore stock with odin?
Also once restored to stock, am I safe to take it back and get it replaced? Will the fact that i've used a custom(with the counter now showing 2) affect my warranty?
Ok its now just in a constant boot loop of Samsung Galaxy SII animation!!! How do I recover it?
Ok fixed and back to stock and it still doesn't work guessing its a hardware issue!! Do I need to get a Jig to reset my counter or is there another way to sort it?
have it replaced

you can make a jig for $2. All you need is a usb, 301k resistors, or 3 100k resistors, or 2 150k, any way you can make 300k ohms of resistance, and some wire. heres a video tutorialthat i used to make mine. (where he solders the wire you can just do the "twist together method if theres no soldering iron available to you, but they are also only about 7 bucks at a local radioshack or electronic store and they are good to have around.)

Erm I think I'll just buy one already made! I'm in the UK so will just grab one off ebay...was hoping there was a way to reset the counter without a Jig so could've just gone and got a replacement handset tomorrow instead of having to wait a few days for the Jig to arrive.

Did the searching for you, check this one out, maybe it'll help out, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081

there's a hack you can do to a usb cable hack to reset the older samsung phones. i bought one since it was only $1.50 shipped. it resets it and puts it in download mode. i'm sure i read that you can actually hack a cable by shorting out two cables with graphite (from a pencil) and paper - kinda like the old athlon multiplier unlocks.
i haven't tested the dongle on the s4 or galaxy note 2 or 8 yet but it worked on my s2 and droid charge.
here's a link for a tutorial for making your own. as i said i've never tested it, so i can't be sure it'll work. my counter is already at zero, otherwise i'd test it for you.

Does Samsung check the counter even if my issue is a manufacturing issue?
i can't say 100%. i sent back a droid charge to verizon just recently and didn't bother the reset the counter. they sent me a new (refurbished) on under my 2yr warranty with no problems.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (AT&T)
I used Odin to Root it, everything was running PERFECT.
Then when I put on AndroidParanoid From Unlockr ( I can't post link due to not having ten posts yet )
I then rebooted and now my phone will not turn on at all.
I've tried normal power up, Download Mode, and Recover Mode, Plugging it into a PC and to the Wall Charger while using all 3 forms of powering up. Still will not work...
I'm at a complete loss here guys an gals, what do I do??
Thanks,
Tony

You are the 2nd person I have seen today, who got a brick after using Paranoid Android from theUnlockr.
Anyway, if the device cannot go to even download mode, try USB Jig. If you don't have one, you can create it.
Here is a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-how-to-make-usb-jig-reset-binary-t1604707
I repaired my friend's Galaxy SII using my created USB Jig. Jig forced his phone to Download mode where I flashed it with Odin.
If USB Jig doesn't work then JTAG Device may repair it. However JTAG is not very commonly available.
In that case, I am afraid you need to contact Customer Care Center and get the Motherboard changed.
Everything is normal after motherboard changed.
But your warranty may be void due to custom ROM and Root.
Also I think your device is Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket SGH-I727 locked for AT&T Carrier.
Then this is your device's forum where more knowledgiable people than me (because I don't have your device) will help you.

I'm happy the post has helped you!!!
It's always useful to share your problems, all options used, solutions, and sources of information.
It will sooner or later help someone somewhere with something. haha.
XDA is by far the TOP online location for all your needs and people with great insight on cell phones!
I work at Verizon Wireless Customer Care (CSR), and I have direct well over a thousand people here and walked them through to get to their cell phones section!
Although I can not say who, or give them my info so they can't figure out who I am (illegal), I'm hoping they have receive the knowledge and help you have here today also.

just put it in usb port like you put a charger pin. It does the rest. It forces phone into Download mode.

I am glad that this helped you. However I wish you never see USB Jig. i.e. your phone should never brick.
