How to backup everything placed on the phones home using Titanium Backup. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I'm not sure if I have searched enough but I'm currently using Nikez Lente's ICS rom 1.0.1a9 and I was wondering if anyone of you know what is the system app name for the phone's homescreen where all my apps, widgets are currently stored. I'm a bit of a flash freak so every now and then I drag my at least 40-50 apps one by one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

If you use Go Launcher Ex, it has a feature to save the settings.

Okay. That's a good suggestion but I'm quite happy with the default ICS launcher so...do you know the exact name of the system that lists all my homescreen shortcuts?
I'm thinking here that as long as it is ICS this does not change right?

Well, I doubt it. if you are switching between roms which were not built on the same kernel, it's difficult to restore the home app along with data.

What if I only use a specific Custom Rom(Nikez Lente Releases)?

Well, I use miui ROM which has got it's own backup tool. It backs up the desktop layout.
can you see if your ROM had any such backup tool

Nah, Nikez Lente ICS is a vanilla ROM & a light one, which I like very much while were at it. I use titanium backup when I switch to new release I'm just not sure which system app to backup for the homescreen.

[Q] Titanium Backup and shortcut restore

I have used TB to backup and restore several times after a flash but have yet to find a way to restore all the shortcuts to the screens other than redoing each one by one. Am I missing or is this just the way it is.

If you are using LauncherPro, then home screens can be backed up to sd card then restored after a flash, but widgets must be restored manually.
Not so sure about ADW or Touch Wiz cuz I don't use them.
Sent from my XDA app cuz I'm stalking your mom....
You can backup/restore ADW as well.... its in the menu options like LP.
Not sure I understand the process. Kind of new to this. I am using the stock launcher that came down with Bionix V. I was able to restore all my apps but my home screens did not restore all the widgets and shortcuts to the apps. Can you be more basic in the steps I need to take to restore just the home screen shorcuts/ widgets etc?
Thanks

[Q]Save Homescreen Setup

Is there any app/homescreen replacement where I can save different homescreen setups? I'm using ADW EX. yes I can save ONE setup, but i want to save them like a theme. More than one. Switch them fast etc.
Or is there a easy way to make themes in adw? I'm not a coder, so easy = easy

it seems to be basic... but I dont find any solution
saving the adw backup file without root, is that possible?
Try launcher pro with backup option.. but it won't restore widget.

[Q] Backup/Restore Homescreen/Folder Preferences after installing new ROM

Hey guys,
I've been rooted and flashing custom firmware through cwm for quite a while now. I know how to use the nandroid/titanium backup methods to backup/restore apps + settings. However, the nandroid also seems to overwrite any new versions of apps with the old, so I would prefer not to use it.
That being said, is there any way to Backup/Restore the Folders I have made/Widget placement on the homescreen and of my apps? I've pored through the threads for a solid time, and I haven't found any regarding this topic.
I'm sure other people are having this problem too, because after you install a full wipe ROM and restore from titanium backup, only the apps and their data are restored, but not the configurations on the homescreen. It is a royal pain in the ASS to go through and segregate them into folders every. single. time. I flash a new firmware.
Suggestions? If there's already a thread about this and I've missed it, I apologize in advance, but I assure you, I've done my homework.

OK well as far as I know, there is no way to back up your touch wiz launcher. If you want to backup, you will have to use a different launcher. Go launcher and adw launcher both have a backup restore button for your desktop..

ugh, that stinks. If you use golauncher or adw, can you still make folders/resize widgets, etc.?
Thanks though!

I use GoLauncher and yes the widgets can be resized.
In addition to that I also use an app called Apps Organizer. It is used to assign labels to different apps; an app can be assigned more than one label. Example: Titanium Backup is assigned both Root and System. And the beauty is that these labels can be assigned as shortcuts on the homescreen.
So your labels or 'folders' get backed up by TiBU.

If you want to back up Touchwiz, it should be something like TwLauncher2.3.6 in Titanium Backup.

I've backed up and restored that same file, but it doesn't restore the apps in folders for me, maybe it's something to do with the custom firmware I'm running. But thanks!
This just happened to me this evening - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491126
Phone entered itself in to safe mode for no apparent reason.
On reboot, app icons are almost all out of the folder I created in app drawer, and non-OEM widgets are missing from homescreen.
I have Titanium Backup, set to do "Redo backups for modified data" every Sunday at 2am.
What, if anything, can I do to restore my folders and widgets with minimal risk?
MyBackup Root can back up your folders and apps on the Touchwiz launcher, but it doesn't seem to do widgets. Better than nothing, at least.
I have it but wasn't scheduled so presumably can't restore.

Surely there's a way to restore layout using Titanium? How about restoring TWLauncher data? Is it in there?

First-time ROM Flashing Questions (CM9)

I'm totally new to Android, with the Note being my first device on this side of the line. I have used an iPhone for 4 years, but I couldn't resist this sexy screen and the ability to ditch carrying a phone, iPad, and Moleskine notebook around all the time. I am loving it so far, but I am tired of not having ICS.
Anyway, I want to flash CM9's unofficial release, but I have a couple reservations. I've read how to do it, have ROM Manager, CWM, and all that. I'm already rooted, etc.
So. My question is this: I am already using ADW EX to theme my Gingerbread and have my widgets set up like I want. Is there a way after flashing the CM9 ROM to restore the settings and themes I already spent the time to set up? Through Titanium Backup, maybe?
Or am I going to be reworking settings and layouts for a while?
Thanks a lot, folks.

Actually, either CM9 or OnlyOne. I had forgotten CM9 didn't have the S-Pen premium suite yet.

Welcome aboard my friend! & about your little concern if i believe ADW EX should have a back & restore option for your theme/layout that you already have. Just make sure when it does back it up you move it too your external_sd card that way it wont be deleted if anything were too go wrong. Oh and just like you said use titanium back up and back yo **** up! As sad as this may sound I just recently learned how to utilize TB (titanium backup) the right way lmao xD But yeah.. do what i said and you'll be just fine ill try and post a link or something.
Here are a few links i found useful:
-Back up Multiple ADW Ex configs
http://forums.androidcentral.com/wa...s/121392-back-up-multiple-adw-ex-configs.html < Not so sure about this one but heres a tip: (adw & adw ex) use a different xml file for backup so the conversion from coming back from a back up of ADW to ADW EX might be challenging. I personally haven't tried this even though i do own ADW EX but i prefer Go launcher.
and check this out For sure you'll be pleased!!

It actually depends on what launcher you use as most home launchers have an option to back up your homescreen layout to an xml file in the launcher settings, then latter on you can re-install the launcher and the rest of your apps and then go into settings and restore the backup of xml file of your homescreen layouts and all your widgets, apps, etc. should all be restored in there place. For example on Apex launcher going into Apex Settings then Backup and restore, allows you to backup and restore your homescreen layouts including widgets, apps, etc.
Sorry But I tried and it NEVER restored widgets!!!

Did you try restoring your apps from titanium backup first then using Apex launchers restore settings. If you don't restore the apps you backed up first most of the widgets won't be installed and since there not installed they will be missing when you go to you Apexs restore function.

I surely did. Is this feature available in apex only for a short time? Cause last time i tried was weeks ago.
