Loves me some DRM (coming from a GNex)! - Motorola Droid RAZR

Was lucky enough to find someone wanting to straight trade my GNex for this DRM... had it for a week and haven't looked back!
Right now, my batt is at 50... been discharging for 18 hours... 4 hours with the screen on at 50% brightness and 1 hour of calls.
Was so happy with mine that I went out and got my wife a white DR (she isn't the power user I am).
Anyways, just saying howdy.
Erik

This post only for ya'll to see my signature...
BTW: We can still have all the great goodies of the Nexus if someone successfully ports it. I had used ICS of the G Nexus, based on GB kernels though, and believe me, I became a fan over night.
MotoBla is bulls*it as compared to pure ICS stockness...
if only we could port it..

I'm thinking of trading in my LG lucid for a razr

The lucid is very slow, has no led charging indicator, has a bad camera and takes forever to charge. It also has bad battery life. The only other phone in my price range is a razr. Do you think it is worth paying the 30$ restoring fee or should I just deal with this phone

I am not going to talk crap about that phone but if crack flashing isn't what you care after but a better overall phone is I would pay the stocking fee and move into the maxx if you can. If not the RAZR is still a good phone. I am using the ics 84 leak and can tell you that it is 100% great owning my maxx. Only option I wish I had was a 0 shutter camera but the maxx camera is very fast and once focused almost 0 shutter. It will do
The plain Razr is fine if you're OK with charging it a lot... personally, I wouldn't change unless it was to the Razr Maxx.
I've owned both RAZR and Maxx and the RAZR still has very good battery life In general. You just gotta hope for a RAZR with no mechanical factory defects...( I've had 2 different phones returned). Also when I said a RAZR with no defects that also went for the Maxx as well. I've had one RAZR and one Maxx with defects

The lucid charges very slowly and there's basically no development for it anyways because it just came out. I've already decided and I'm getting a razr tomorrow.

Well you're certainly getting better development on the rezound than you would with the razr. Stupid Motorola / Verizon.
I'd get rid of my razr for an HTC phone if I could just for the development.

I went from a rez to my maxx. The rez was very nice and very nice camera and screen...but w the extended battery it got heavy feeling. Uncomfortably heavy. Hard to see in the sun. Not hating on the rezound as it is a great device...but my maxx w ics 4.0.4 is exactly what I wanted. 6+ hours screen on time. No hesitation or stuttering. Runs perfect. Autosync always on. Always run data. Auto brightness on. No tricks. Just use it

Linaro Android. Thoughts?

This looks really intresting! Could this be implemented in the RAZR in the near future? But idk if the RAZR is supported by the CM-team..
PS. It's running on OMAP 4430 in the video, same CPU as the RAZR ;=)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...e-and-now-parts-of-it-are-being-added-to-cm9/
As soon as the changes are accepted they'll be added into CM nightlies, and that same night dhacker/hashcode/droidth3ory's KANGs will get them.

There's a Galaxy Nexus ROM already. When ICS hits the RAZR then we could try and build a linaro optimized ROM for us.
There are 3 things now that makes me feel I did a good deal buying razr. The new ICS wich is reallity for some, the kexec we know will give us a new cold in our almost melting ICS and this Linaro news.
I know now I'll have an even better smartphone that may last at least for anothef one and half year.
All this is a quite impressive life extending to a device granted by the dev community.
Rocks!

Got razr m yesterday!

Got the raze m Yesterday and I must say that for so $99 with contract you just can't beat it. Little disappointed I bought razr Maxx then moto releases 3-4 killer phones soon after. ...it is what it is. Anyway razr m is a little on the small side which i like and its solid. The phone is a great size, it fits so naturally in your hand. The benchmark results from quadrant was nothing shy of 4467! I think that's impressive compared To my Maxx Which is upper 2700s. Does that extra .3ghz make that huge of a difference? This dual core rocking the snap dragon 1.5ghz is right up there with the HTC one x

I think it's more of the Snapdragon S4 processor being better than TI-OMap. I don't care for benchmarks, it's about real world usage.
RAZR M is cool. I would upgraded to the Maxx HD though. You not getting much change from a Maxx to RAZR M in my opinion. Better processor and more recent software stuff but what else? Not trying to hate, just saying the HD RAZR's would of been a better upgrade for me.

I believe the size and the screen display is the same the current Razr/Maxx have. So that's not an upgrade if you're moving to the Razr M.

What phones are you referring to? Because the only new Motorola phone released after the RAZR MAXX was the Droid 4. There might have been a new color released for the Droid RAZR, but no new phones. The RAZR M is the 1st new phone released since February. Of course I'm only counting phones released on VZW.

I think the OP was referring to the new Razr's announced. Razr M, Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD, and Razr i. It is kind of soon because the Razr Maxx came out in 2012 and it hasn't even been 12 months yet and Motorola's already got 4 new and better phones out/coming out.

The RAZR MAXX came out towards the end of Jan. The Droid 4 was in Feb. The RAZR M just came out in the 2nd week of Sept. That's a lot of time between phones for Motorola. I count 3 new phones coming out, the RAZR M and the RAZR HD and MAXX HD. The RAZR/MAXX HD phones most likely aren't coming until sometime around Thanksgiving. That would be a year after the 1st Droid RAZR was released.

The OP has a Razr Maxx, not the skinny Razr, so it's not even a year yet. A year is 12 months in the U.S.
Shows how much quality they put into each of their phones. It's clear they care more about putting out the most phones they can rather than focusing on quality such as their average 8MP camera work just to name something. For me it's about quality, not quantity. The Razr M is cool for a lower end release (save some people money). The Razr Maxx HD would of been enough of a successor from the Razr/Razr Maxx. What is the point for them to release the Razr HD? And I don't even care for the Razr i.
Well for me I would get the regular Razr Hd, I like my phone to be thin and its the same specs as the Maxx so why not? When i bought my razr the maxx was already out and i chose the regular razr because it was so damn thin i love it.
The only thing that really pisses me off about the new phones is that they are all thicker than the originals. I agree the maxx has an awesome battery but too me its not worth the thickness, even if it is slight.

horror stories of Razr HD owners teasing you for not having a current flagship device

Ok it is now official we razr xt912 owners are no longer top dog. We are now reduced to a pile of crap as the new razr hd series is out today. The new flasgship owners will glare and snicker and taunt us xt912 owners. They tell us size does matter as their is bigger then ours.... Women will not start to drop us for razr hd owners as we are yesterdays news. We will need to take phoneagra from the makers of Viagra. We can kid ourselves that we can use the same launcher but its all about the screen and battery babby and that dual core s4 man! Them chicks dig that speedy duel core! I even hear of a report of a divorce being filed today that a women dumped her husband because he refused to get a razr hd so she dumped his azz. Oh the stigma...

Is it still worth it to buy a RAZR

Is it still worth it to buy a RAZR coming from a thunderbolt? I know anything will be better then what I have now, but I want to keep my unlimited data. I'm mixed between the nexus and RAZR since they are both around the same price on eBay. I would prefer the large battery since I use my phone now as a hotspot.

I just came from a Thunderbolt to a RAZR. You may have even seen me in the forums there if you viewed them... I was very active. Needless to say, it's worth it to try a RAZR. Compared to how the Thunderbolt was made, this phone physically feels cheap in your hand... but it's no competition to the Bolt.
I'd try it out if I were you. With you also being a Thunderbolt user, especially after who knows how long, I'm sure you'll have a pleasant experience.

If you don't play heavy games, the RAZR MAXX will do very well. If you like to play too though, better pick the Razr Maxx HD because the chip is newer. Not that the RAZR Maxx can't handle, but it show it's age like when playing the Iron Man 3 for example.
Thanks for the input. In have had the TB to long, since it was released.

Definitely a great upgrade from a TBolt. It's still a top phone going over a year and a half now. Dual core 1.2 and a decent screen. They only thing I would want upgraded (still content with) is the screen. It could be more HD. The battery is ok being has I have an OG Razr. I definitely recommend the MAXX if it is in your budget. I came from Droid 2.

Well i'd rather go for a Nexus 4 or a Maxx HD.
I, too, had a Thunderbolt since the day it was released, but inherited my wife's XT912 a couple of months ago, after she upgraded to a Note 2. Since HTC released ICS for the TB, I've been occasionally switching back to the old' "Bolt" every now and then, and its still really quite useful. I would get a RAZR Max HD, if you can afford it, as I am underwhelmed by the poor camera on my Razr Maxx.
Sent from my XT912 using XDA Premium HD app
Well yea it is. I'm saying the only thing I really want to improve on this phone is the screen. In no way was I comparing it to the Tbolts screen.
