Did you even search the threads? Cool.

Yeah, it's only been mentioned like everywhere. I can see how it could be easy to miss.

I said I did - the only mention of this is a post titled " Is this what I think it is? CRC HTC Dev?"
So what y'all are saying is even though searching for "kernel source" gets no hits on subject titles about it's release - I'm supposed to know that it's been mentioned "everywhere." As if "kernel source" isn't in every f'ing thread since the forum was created. Get off my case.

only issue...there is a new kernel in the new OTA...so HTC just trolled us. Now the question is, though there is a new kernel in the new OTA, what changes were made in it that makes it different from the previous kernel we now have source for? I am sure, the kernel makers will sort it all out...just have to be patient. (i know, that's asking a lot on xda, lately)

But how many ROMS are currently based off of that OTA - The release only had a few things in the changelog - and most were things that were already fixed by devs here (google wallet, etc..) If this means we get fully functioning CM9 - I'll be pooping rainbows and unicorns.

tun.ko for mt3gs, kernel 2.6.29-5f8ed145

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, and I thought it might be useful. I'm using eugene's SlideMR1v4, which doesn't have the tun module. I'm trying to get Cisco VPN connections working (using get-a-robot-vpnc), so I compiled this kernel module from the official android kernel (git://android.git.kernel.org/kernel/msm.git), using the android-msm-2.6.29 branch. The module compiled correctly, and it seems to insert into the kernel correctly. It gives me /dev/tun and /dev/net/tun devices. I haven't gotten vpnc to work completely; although it will connect to my Cisco VPN just fine, it doesn't seem to route packets. Anyway, this file might be useful to you guys, and if anyone has gotten Cisco VPN to work correctly on the mt3gs, let me know.
Edit [2010-07-29]: Updated the zip with a new build based off of the legend kernel source posted on HTC's web site. Supposedly it is the same as the one on stock Slide.

Seriously.
People, for the love of all that is good and right, read the post before commenting. This isn't a custom kernel -- it's a module for the .29 kernel that is already in use on your Slide. And if you do not know how to compile/insert a module into a kernel, you truly should not be inquiring *here* as to how to do so.
Meh.
Hahaha... r0man.. that was one of the funniest posts Ive seen in a long time...
Thanks for the humor, guys! My thoughts exactly. Anybody else actually tried this out?
A double facepalm! Wow.... Such strong sentiment. My Cubemate told me to shut the hell up; I couldnt stop laughing. Thanks for the humor - i needed that.
On the other side. Great job compiling this module, i'm sure that someone will absolutly need it, our Cisco vpn saturation is only about 30% of our serviced companies, so someone out there might want to do this with their android device. Saving post in favorites. (i foresee the boss asking about it.)

Cool, let me know how it works out, I have a pretty good build process now so I can crank out pretty much any module that anybody needs.
Initial tests #fail with Eugene's MYFROYO_RC_4 - I'll keep looking into this.
Begging HTC some more to release their Kernel source for this device - not sure if this will help though.
This module is for Eclair, Froyo uses a newer kernel. I haven't gotten around to installing Froyo on my phone, since it doesn't seem nearly as usable. That being said, I can probably compile it for the Froyo kernel if somebody will run a 'uname -a' on their Froyo install and post the output.
Here you go... Guess I could do it from AOSP as well.
Ok, this worked great with eclaire! Dunno why I didn't think of building this from the AOSP.
Good work - this will help us out at work!!

[Request]Multiple Custom Roms @ The Same Time!!!!

Has anyone seen the work here on the DInc. They have achieved a way of having multiple custom roms loaded at the same time ( thanks to EMMC ) and hot swappable(is that a word?) like switching launchers almost... Can one of you, way smarter than me devs attempt to re-create this for the 3VO.... Please!!!!!

That would be sweet. It was either here or on the OG Evo forum they were talking about it. I sure hope its this one

Theres a program in the market called boot manager that does the same thing. I sent a device support request for the 3d. Hopefully they will support our device soon. I can fight paying 3 bucks for a multi Rom situation without the wiping and backing up.
Ohhh I need something like that so badly!!! Then I need some kick ass roms too!
Right now I need something, anything to flash, I've been going through withdrawals for a month, and I finally got a taste of that sweet bootloader crack! But I need MMOOOAAARRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The author of Boot Manager is conap. He is also the OP in the DualRom thread mentioned in OP of the thread we are reading. Conap suggests using his app. More information on pages 2 and 3 of his thread. I've been following it for a while. Hopefully he'll update his app so it works with the 3VO.

3VO Waiting

Hello there -
I've tried all of SCOTT'SROMS; OMJ; MikRunny; along with Team Noc's Bravia variants, and, the few versions of ICS that I've tested since Neco are coming along, though, missing many key components. My current kernel is the E3D Tiamat, v 1.10. I've visited many different fora, and I'm starting to get a bad case of vertigo. ;-€......
I'm currently running the Xplode XE (odexed version - very smooth) ROM... any suggestions from this esteemed panel would be gratefully appreciated ;D. Thanks.

I'm sorry if you think that I was rambling... the last two sentences were 'the closer', in my missive to anyone here... just trying to make nice conversation; I'm a 50 (well, nearly 50 - I'll turn 50, in a couple of months) year old disabled guy, and though you're a Senior Member - does that give you the right to be rude to me, in this forum? If it was the attachments, then, I'll refrain from using those - while I'm trying to be nice to others, and ask questions. Otherwise, you might want to change your tone.

I think what he meant was, how it it functional without voice search? Do you type in all of the questions? Also, what specifically "works"? Does it pull information from your past searches and automatically give you relevant information, or does it just load blank cards?
Isn't there a port for the 4.1 kernel for ICS already? Might help.

At the moment voice does not work ... It fails from the posts I have been reading they say it's a kernel thing so it may never work on ics unless we get a jb kernel. All searching must be typed but your answers are populated neatly in one spot ... A while ago it was showing weather nd stuff but I don't know if that stoped working.
Edit... Also sometimes the server seems slow.

again this is for the previous base, not the new kernel included in the latest OTA, but I am sure once some devs break it down, they will make it work.
leave it to HTC to release source the day after they updated it to a new base/source.
