[Q] Bootloader Menu Does not show Recovery..

So a few weeks ago I used the guide in the Development section on how to root and s-off my phone. I followed all the instructions up to the period, something didn't work right or something..
It was this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192525
At first when I followed all the instructions to root and s-off, it showed Recovery in the Bootloader menu, and now it doesn't..?? I can still boot into TWRP using Quickboot from the market. My phone still says s-off and has permanent root too. Is there any way I am able to get the recovery option back on the bootloader menu? I just want this back because If I mess up installing a rom or something, then obviously I won't have the quickboot app if the phone won't boot up or something and I need to get to recovery through the bootloader!
Any help on how to get the recovery option back is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Have you tried pulling the battery for 10-15 seconds?
And not to sound like a douche, but these instructions have been out for one week as of today, not a few.
My days are really running together, but the battery pull worked! Thanks dude.
No problem, glad I could help.
A few weeks ago we had no s-off.

Dont forget also, you can go into your cmd prompt and type, adb reboot recovery
That will send your phone into recovery as well

S-off achieved, but now phone's a brick

I managed to get s-off, but my phone would not boot. I was stuck on a screen that said "JuopunutBear" with an arrow. I did the internal storage fix, now the phone is really screwed. I'm stuck on a white screen with "HTC". I can't boot to recovery and the PC won't recognize phone so ADB commands don't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Get one of the old GB RUU's and run it on your phone. Start again. If your phone was truly bricked, it wouldn't power on and you wouldn't get an LED light when it was plugged in.

This is an easy one, or would have been when you were on the black screen. Well the internal storage fix scares me, but hopefully that wont matter. Typically all you need to do is get the PH file from your rom and place on sd card, boot into hboot, and run the update I believe, then reboot.
This title needs to be edited as it's misleading.

Relax. The S-off process blows out your recovery. You didn't brick your phone.
Put a recovery image on your SD card, go into hboot (from a powered down state, power button and volume down) and let 'er reload recovery. If you can't get the file on your SD card through your phone, pop the SD card into a card reader attached to your PC and stick it on there that way.
Once that's done, remove the image file from your SD card, put your fav ROM on it, and install it from recovery.
You may need to fix your SD card's mount points. Within the thread on S-off, there's a link to the process.
None of the commands work because the phone is not recognized. I cannot boot to hboot. Uh oh.
I had the same screen. Pull the battery and reboot into hboot, volume down+power and run the s-off program again. Something didn't finish and it will pick up where it left off in my experience.

What happens when you press power+volume down?
Edit: Also, if you're phone turns on, you're not bricked. It's pretty hard to brick this phone.

Yeap just pull the battery and power on with power and volume down.
This kinda stuff you'll be fine with. Just don't get too creative with "repairs" that aren't posted in here.

As I understand it, the only way to brick a phone is to bork a radio installation.
Dude...pull your battery, put it back in, then power and volume down at the same time. If you can get to hboot, life is good.
After about 30 battery pulls I was able to get to hboot. I have no idea what the issue was. Finally got the phone booting now. I appreciate the replies.

Sure did. Took me a little while to get the wire trick right. I just noticed the sd card is not recognized. I see the fix on the thread. That will be tomorrows project.
Constant reboots
I am able to install roms, but I get constant reboots, every few minutes at best. I tried a few different ICS ROMS. I am running the latest firmware. I BELIEVE with s-off I shouldn't have to flash PH98IMG.zip. I tried fixing permissions also but it has not helped.
How did you get the latest firmware and radios without running the PH98IMG.zip? The ics roms you are installing won't update your firmware.

Well the newest leak came out 5/7 and the one before that 5/2 so only a week ago. I would download the newest from Android Police and follow the instructions they give to install, then flash a recovery and install a rooted Rom for this firmware like Scott's.

I don't know why you relocked...I think there's a thread about not so good things happening to those who relock after S-off. I downloaded and installed the 5/5 leak as PH98IMG after I S-off'd and reflashed the recovery.
I'm pretty sure my hboot said "locked" straight out of the gate after I did the S-off deed.

Nothing bad happens, you just don't ever get back to "locked" without doing S-off again. You're just at "relocked" like the old days. S-on with an eng hboot on the other hand will brick your device.
That aside, there's no need to unlock if you're S-off. Either flash a patched hboot or just flash a PH98IMG.zip of AmonRa if you don't need fastboot commands (I did the latter).
I flashed the last firmware before S-off. I followed the instructions given. I flashed the latest firmware today and this damn thing still reboots constantly. I flashed the 5-7 firmware then the Venasaur Rom.

You need to try installing the radio firmware or just install the complete RUU again. And install a clean copy of the rom, not a nandroid backup. Wipe data, cache, dalvic cache, and system before flashing the rom.
Send me a private message if you would like and I'll help you get it figured out on gtalk.

Tried to S-Off...

Tried to S-Off. Something went wrong and now I'm stuck at the Juopunut splash screen on the phone. Can't do anything but access hboot. Not sure what to do and some help would be appreciated...
Re run the juopuntbear program if you want to keep trying. Or flash the boot.IMG from your Rom to get it back running
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Flash recovery again with fastboot, you can either add it to your sd card as pb31img (or whatever it is) or just use a pc.
Once recovery is back on, boot to it and flash a new Rom, then try the soff procedure again.
You can try to just flash a new boot.IMG, but that never works for me. I've done soff like 5 times now, and when I get stuck at that screen you are on, I just flash a new recovery and Rom then try again.

Thanks. I'm able to recover the phone by flashing through fastboot. Finally, S-OFF! Not sure what I was doing wrong as I changed nothing but the program keep on hanging up in the same place everytime like 4 times in a row forcing me to fastboot boot and recovery img's. I guess 5th time's a charm this time! Thanks for the help...

I had the same happen to me. Run control bear, get stuck, fast boot flash bootbackup and recovery backup, repeat 4-5x, then suddenly success.
Haven't had any problems since.
Congratulations on S-off!
Same problem here. My phone would not reboot when performing he wire trick. I had to battery pull after the wire trick, then it ran all the way through.
Rezound, rooted, loving it.

[Q] Successful JuopunutBear S-OFF...Now stuck at juopunutbear screen

After sucessfully getting S-OFF with juopunutBear's wire trick.. I cant get past the black juopunutBear screen
ive tried recovering twice using 4ext..as well as just doing a full wipe except sd and reintstalling the rom but at reboot im right back at the J" screen.
Admittedly I am very green at this process. I took the steps one at a time ( all to try in flash the faux kernel )
So if anyone can or has encounter this problem and knows of the proper steps to get back into the normal boot pls help
much thnx in advance
connect your phone to pc & run again juopunutbear. That will fix it.
nothing changes it just informs me that the device is already s-off'd and then prompts me to exit
rebooting the device brings me right back to the black screen with the juopunutbear img
Try using Hasoon's AIO tool. You can add the kernel there and flash using his tool. It's been a while since I got stuck at that screen but I do remember that his tool helped me get out of it. I'll try and see what I find and post.

You could flash a RUU, then flash a j-bear boot, then flash a recovery, and then either flash a ROM of your choice, or flash a superuser package to get a rooted stock ROM...
or you could use this tool. I made it a while back ago, and this should work in your situation. Be sure to follow directions.

If youre still javing the problem this will fix it
if you can go to bootloader you need to connect the phone to pc, go to fastboot ( should say fastboot usb)*Go to controlbear folder (from where you ran controlbear to begin withon you pc then open command window in it (hold shift and right click, that willopen command window rigjt there and then*when you get into it you need to enter:
"ControlBear.exe -f" no quotes or "ControlBear f" notice the space after the exe !
Lots of peopke forget to put it in and say it didnt work.
I presume this will fix the problem

Are you CDMA or GSM?
Find your ruu and run it, you can't "easily" flash kernels or jb roms with s-on, do the wire trick, get s-off, you'll never look back.

That screenie you provided was your phone attempting to pick a an ruu. In order to flash them off your phone, it must be a signed ruu in correspondence to s-on and relocked bootloader. Generally, ruu's are flashed through your PC via fastboot mode and this is primarily an device with s-on and relocked bootloader. Not unless if your s-off. Otherwise you do not have to flash through PC. Anyways, make sure that you have the correct drivers. Adb and fastboot are setup correctly. Uninstall HTC sync if you have it.
