Problems with Ford Sync Bluetooth audio ICS 4.0.4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone has had any problems with audio being streamed through Ford Sync? After about a half hour or so of streaming or playing audio my phone freezes and reboots. I have tried 4 or 5 different roms and every single one of them has this problem. Thanks for your help!

I stream BT audio using Rdio service with my Sync (Ford MyTouch). I can't say that I've ever had that problem after using it for a while. I am using the xXx ROM.

Never had a problem.

No problems with my CM9 builds streaming to my 2010 Ford Focus, the audio quality is good and the steering wheel controls work.

Havent had a problem with streaming to Ford sync. Does it just do it when streaming to your Sync, or does it lock up doing anything else, ie playing thru headphones, or speaker.
Ford sync is buggy, could try rebooting your sync, you can do that yourself by pulling the fuse for it for a few mins.

It doesn't do it with headphones or a usb cable. It only does it when I am streaming audio through the Sync. It wouldn't freeze and reboot when I was on gingerbread, only on ICS.

2009 Ford Focus - AT&T Skyrocket ICS 4.0.4
I can't seem to pair my phone to my Focus since updating with the official AT&T released ICS 4.0.4 version. It worked fine before... I will try pulling the fuse soon and trying again.

Mine will pair, I have an F150 and Expedition. Both will pair, but no longer connect automatically. I can manually force them to connect, but not automatic. I have reset the car (pull positve cable from battery for 30 seconds) and then paired the phone again. Still nothing. My wife has a Galaxy S2 on 4.0.2 and it works just fine. Something goofy with the Note and 4.0.3 bluetooth drivers.

I can pair it just fine, the phone freezes up about a half hour into my audio playback. I can stop it from freezing if I stop the audio before it hits the 30 to 35 minute mark and hit play again.

So after testing my Bluetooth audio with cm9, the phone never froze or rebooted. Makes me wonder if the Bluetooth drivers for the stock roms are bad? Would anyone know how to get updated or better drivers? Thanks again!

I have this issue when I am streaming audiobooks, podcasts, or even a long youtube thing when streaming to my After market Sony stereo. It happens pretty much every 38 minutes like clockwork. After the 2nd freeze, I lose data connectivity until I do a full reboot. When it freezes, it seems like it doesn't do a full reboot for me, as I never see any booting animations. Just a frozen screen, a few seconds of black then back to the lock screen.
This *does not* happen when streaming Google Music. It seems like it's only when I'm playing the same audio piece for over a half hour. This is using Audible and BeyondPod. I can't recall which kernal I'm using, but I do remember it is the same one the last 2 roms where I've had this issue, so I have no idea if it even can be kernal related or not.

Yeah that is the problem that I am having as well. If I stop the audio before it hits the 38 minute mark then it won't reboot. cm9 so far hasn't made my phone freeze. I wonder if people are having the same problem on the att official update?

I have exactly the same problem on rooted stock Telus 4.0.4 rom. My bluetooth device is JVC car radio. Can someone fix the title of the thread to remove "Ford Sync" reference? It looks like the problem is more generic.

I never had an issue connecting to my 2011 Escape until ICS. If i manually did a connect, it was fine, but no automatic connect with ICS. After I did an unpair, delete the connect from phone and car, then performed a new pair, it was fine.

Rezound and bluetooth

The bluetooth connection with my RX 400 has horribly static. it is running rhe stock rom without the new ota. does anyone else have issues with their connections or suggestions?
Working with my 2011 Touareg. No static, but I don't play media through bluetooth. Just calls.
But it keeps trying to pair even after it successfully pairs.

most vehicles dont supports playing audio. i only care about the static issue
I have found that if I am holding it in my hand, then it does have alot of static. But if I do put it in my pocket with the back facing out, then I am fine.
I use it for phone and music and streaming podcasts paired with my Gen 3 Prius with no problems. Even the music sounds really good.

[Q] Pandora Causing Reboot in ICS roms?

Anyone else noticing Pandora causing a reboot in any of their ICS roms? I thought it was BT at first, but Mixest, Tune In, and Google Music do not cause any reboots.
This has happened on Joel's 0.9, CleanRom 3.6, and ICS 4.0.3 v2.7.3(which I believe uses a different kernel)

Yep. I mainly use Pandora with bluetooth headphones and I get random reboots almost every session. When it comes back, my data and bluetooth won't connect until I force a full reboot.

How long did you listen to those other apps? I'm trying bluetooth headphones with Google Music (Play Music) right now and I just had a reboot. So I'm not sure that it is just Pandora. It seemed to take a lot longer than Pandora did before a reboot.
Originally I thought that having it plugged into power might have had something to do with it but it still happened when just on battery using Pandora with BT.

Listened to GMusic for about 35 minutes, Mixest about 1 hour. I'll run Pandora through the headphone jack and see if it still reboots, thanks.

I haven't had any issues running Pandora through the headphone jack yet. It is possible that my GMusic reset was due to Pandora still being open in the background even though it wasn't playing.
I have a feeling it is a combination of Pandora and Bluetooth somehow.
I also notice on CleamROM ICS ScoreMobile doesn't work either. Well, it works, but when you try to bring up the different leagues to view scores it doesn't show them. Not sure if it was a ROM problem or ICS problem, but went back to GB ROM and it worked.
Interesting post. I had an issue today with music through the aux port in my car. Using the stock music player was good. And so was power amp. But when I tried Pandora there was no sound. So I unplugged the aux jack from the phone, and there was still no sound. Same with google music/play. Also could not stream from tunee music. Wtf?
So I went back to the stock player and sure as ****, it works. I ended up having to reboot. And It's been fine for the last 4 hours, with or without the headphones. I'm running BAMF .9.
It only seems to be web based streaming that I was having problems with.

So, at this point I am to beleive that it is a issue with Pandora and BT. Tried all three ROMs again and still had issues with BT, but then ran through the headphone jack and ran Pandora for over a hour without issue. For giggles I tried HQ settings and car mode settings tinkering with the same results.

ICS and bluetooth
Im on a Galaxy s2 and I run in to problems with ICS and bluetooth when streaming music thru my paired care stereo
Ive tried 2 custom leaked roms and the official rom that came out yesterday. Same problem persists.. works fine on Gingerbread.
So universal ICS problem?

I know I am a bit late but I was able to stream Pandora over BT (Handsfree Link) just fine without issue. Occasionally the song would take a few seconds to to start but nothing other than that. For almost that entire time I only ran Joelz BAMF Rezound with the stock kernel.
My Rez is dead though so my replacement will not be here until today though. Would be perfect test for my long drive later today too.
Can anyone confirm that this is still an issue with the new leaked RUU? I'll be trying it today on CleanROM 4.0 SP1, but I was just curious if anyone else has noticed issues yet.
Edit: Confirmed. This is still an issue with the new leaked RUU. Tried Pandora with BT streaming on CleanROM 4.0 SP1 and still get a reboot after about 10 minutes of listening.
I don't want to jump the gun here, but after seeing this post, I tried running fix permissions and rebooting and so far I have been listening to Pandora on BT for almost an hour with no issues. I'll keep you posted.
Edit: Looks like I did indeed jump the gun. Got a reboot at almost exactly one hour.

You know what I just thought about? I've been running the "fixed" version of Pandora that FernandoSor had to take down based on version 1.5.15. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not but I'll update to the latest version today on my drive to LA and see how it goes. Will report back.
I just wanted to point out that unchecking Fast Boot does not change any of the effects. Reboots still occur and a full reboot is still necessary to regain bluetooth functionality.
Yup, I have the same issue, but its not local to just Pandora, I also get it when using the Google Music app, but I never paid attention to whether the reboot occurred when playing a track on the local sdcard or playing a track via streaming from the cloud.
Next time it happens, I'll try to see if it only happens when playing a song via stream, maybe the issue is narrowed down to that...
This is on CleanRom 4.0 btw

[Q] ICS and Bluetooth issue remains when paired and streaming music--- Anyone else?

I havent seem to run in to anyone with this issue.
I pair my phone to my car stereo fine in the stock GB rom. Play music and talk on the phone endlessly.
But with any ICS version so far, even official. It causes reboots, randomly.
Am I the only one suffering from this?
Not the same, but something similar.
I can connect with my car stereo, have to do it twice (once for music streaming and once for handsfree). Once connected, i can stream music fine. Even the controls on my steering wheel work. When I receive a phone call sound is muted and i can talk fine as well.
After I hang up the phone, the music doesn't come back, only a 0.5 second stutter every 2-3 seconds. On my phone, in the music player I can see that it's my phone that has the problem; the visualisation displays exactly how i hear the sound.
This behaviour also occurs when I turn off my car and turn it on again.. there doesn't seem to be a single thing that i can do to get music to play again, just some fiddling usually gets it to work (but then i have to stop my car first before i can have music..)
If anyone has any ideas for troubleshooting let me know!
I honestly think ics has compatibility issues with certain bluetooth devices.
We can only hope they realize this and take measures to correct it.
Gingerbread is flawless.

Just a notice that this seems fixed for me now.
I've upgraded to the 4.0.4 Rom found here: Click!
Next to this i'm using the app "doubleTwist"
ICS talks a different language then gingerbread when it comes to A2DP, especially for the play/pause commands, which seem important to me..
A2DP issues
I find I have similar issue. I have a SONY bluetooth deck in my car and my phone will lock up and force restart mid song or mid phone call.
Anyone have any ideas apart from flashing that 4.0.4 Rom

Anyone else have bad static using bluetooth audio?

I have a jvc deck that has built in blutooth. It routes the sound they the car speakers and uses a wired microphone. Call quality transmit an receive is pretty damn good. However, when using bluetooth audio...say pushing anything from the music app, or pandora, there is alot of static attached to the signal. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any solutions. I am rooted but still stock. I use poweramp as well as the default player at times.

I have a jvc deck as well, and I don't have any problems with static over bluetooth. I use Pandora and Google play music, and both work great for me on stock, CM7, CM9, and MIUI. MIUI actually works the best for me as far as bluetooth playing nice with the head unit.
Never used power amp or stock tho, so I can't speak for that.

Thought I really hate the annoying noise when I use the wired earphones.
Ill have to experiment with a few other players. I rarely use the phone for streaming in the car. Odd, I really dint pick up any noise with wired cans. On a side note, I found a new player 'neutron' that blows away anything I've used this far in the sq department. Its a paid app that offers a limited use 'timed' trial.

Similar issue
I've also got a semi-stock Photon 4G. Been using it fine in my Ford Fusion w/ Sync. Sunday, tried to make a phone call and it was just static. Turned off the bluetooth on my phone and it was fine. Now, it's unable to make a call through Sync. It pairs fine, just nothing but static. Why the sudden change? No new updates from Motorola or Sprint that I'm aware of. BTW, by semi-stock, I mean it's rooted. No custom ROM's or what not. Any ideas? I've googled some and it seems that the Photon 4G has some bluetooth related issues. I really like the phone and had really planned on holding off on upgrading since there wasn't a real 'need'. Another issue I've had lately is receiving texts w/ no sound. It vibrates, but doesn't give me a sound. I checked the setting and even when scrolling through the notification sounds, it doesn't do it. Then it will randomly do it. Rebooted and battery pulls have been done. Really, REALLY don't want to do a reset. Ideas? Are they related?
I use bluetooth audio everyday, and I've used every rom except stock. Bluetooth always works very well. Rule out your jvc device first, test your Bluetooth on something else. Then reset or reflash, then use your warranty.

I also intermittently get static when making calls in my Focus via Sync over Bluetooth. I can faintly hear the caller in the background, but the static is MUCH louder than the person. When this occurs, there are some other symptoms the phone exibits:
No audio will play via multiple apps. Tested in Pandora (cycles from one song to another), Amazon MP3 (same as Pandora), Youtube (Gives an error about audio), Voicemail (Unable to play the message).
Alarms only vibrate, no audible alarm.
When trying to do a call via speakerphone, the person on the other end cannot hear me.
The fix I have found is to reboot. The phone is stock, but has been rooted, and has occurred for the past few months, even with the update that came out at the beginning of August. I tried reflashing it in June with the 198 SBF, but didn't do a reset of the data. The reflash succeeded, but the problem is still occurring. I removed "Words with Friends" and "Scramble with Friends" last night to see if it helps.

Rats. Too bad I hate Sense, so I'll probabpy go with a Galaxy S III, even though I dont like TouchWiz. However, Touchwiz is preferable to Sense. Might go Galaxy Nexus, not sure. For now, haven't had it reoccur yet, but we'll see.
Good news: not a single reoccurance of the static over bluetooth and no audio. I still wonder how an app can effectively crash the audio stack, though. Oh well.

Fix for crackle during bluetooth music playback

I got one of those fancy vibration-technology speakers (trupulse.net) for Christmas, but regardless of the ROM I've tried (Super Jelly, JellyBam, & others) I get a noticeable crackle when playing music through bluetooth on it. Seems to be connected some to what I do on my phone while music's playing (opening apps, rotating the screen, etc), but it also happens randomly too. I had my wife try it on her stock LTE with Jellybean and it works correctly. I'm also confident it's bit the speaker itself because my TouchPad and my bro-in-law's iPhone worked fine too.
Anybody got any ideas what the issue might be?
P.S. I noticed I have 2 bluetooth share apps, so I froze them individually in TiBu but do still had the issue.
I notice crackle when multitasking or when i press power button on my phone. It only lasts a second though. Running pacman rom.
Is it a constant crackle? Also, have you tried turning volume down on your phone and up on the speaker?

Thanks for your reply. The speaker I'm using doesn't have its own dedicated volume, only adjusted using whatever's connected to it. It's not consistent in that it's every 5 seconds or anything, but like you said when multitasking (and almost EVERY time the screen rotates) it happens. And sometimes it'll last several seconds at a time.
This has been an issue since launch with the phone. The only thing that I found to work was increasing voltages with a kernel app but I don't believe this to be possible yet. HTC majorly screwed up with BT Audio on this thing.
