The Best Screen Lock App - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wish is that someone would make a Screen Lock App and maybe some has, if not I think this a great idea, of course.
1. It must show any missed income calls, messages and emails.
2. Time and weather.
3. Circle when long pressed to swipe outside of circle to open.
4. Customizable App selection; the ability to add a few apps around the circle to choose from, but if not chosen swipe outside of the circle to opens.
5. Select a random picture everytime you turn on your phone from a directory of your choice.

I think that's a tall order my friend, but you can try Widget Locked and see if you get some or all of those things you're looking for...

Yes, WidgetLocker is great. It allows to add homescreen widgets on it. Plus, it has many themes to launch apps (ICS, Sense, iPhone).
I'd like to add more: Install "Tesla Unread" to get missed call, SMS and Gmail counts.

Yeah, Widget Locker pretty much does all of that minus Live Picture wallpaper.

You'll have to install Go Launcher EX to use it. Just to tweak lock screen usability, changing home launcher is an overkill..

I'm gonna suggest, as others here have, Widget Locker. I've always been running widget locker since I first had an android phone and have never used anything else because it does the job perfectly. Obviously, it's best feature is the customization available for it. Every few days I'm changing the layout of my lockscreen, just so it's something new

You could try using widget locker combined with minimalistic text integrated with tasker. That might give you what you want.

best way to keep the notification bar hidden

question in title
i know launcher pro does this but when you open up an app (like handscent sms) it shows up again.
is there any app or anything to remove the notification bar universally?
I use the zeam launcher. That has an option that almost always hides it. Hope that helps.

so does Launcherpro, i was hoping there's some sort of individual app just for removing the notification bar?
im prettyed used to launcherpro and would prefer to stick with it
I dont know of a way to do it in apps, but if you want it gone on your lockscreen as well, I use Widget Locker to accomplish this as well as place a bunch of widgets Im always using right on my lockscreen

damn, i guess our phones just aren't meant to not have the not. bar.
only reason i'd like to have it gone is so I can further depend on widgets, just for the hell of it.
zeam launcher does it for me all the time once i hide it its gone in any app i open

What he said. I'm using a combination of ADW Launcher EX and CircleLauncher
Your main screen will look like this:
The icons you see on the top left and bottom right are CircleLauncher. When i tap them they open up the predefined app selection of my choosing. You have the choice of a circle, horizontal or vertical style.
Another neat thing on the ADW Launcher EX is that you can use the swipe up and down gesture to preform actions. For example swipe down opens my Notifications Bar and swipe up opens my Apps Drawer.
Hope you find what you need.

I like Adw. It's simple clean and fast. Not sure if I will upgrade to the paid version since a lot of reviews are have force close issues. Are you getting any?

Personally i have never had a force close on my 3D. On my 4G I did have a couple force closes but it didn't bother me as much. Try out the free version for a couple days to get the feel of it. If you feel generous afterwards you can "donate" to the owner instead of "buying" it, that's how I looked at it. Good luck!

The same thing can be accomplished with Launcher Pro as well.
+1 for ADW. I hide the notification bar and get rid of the launcher. Here is a link to my setup. I've made some changes lately but you can get the general idea. Swipe down opens the notifications and swipe up opens the app drawer...

Any of you tried wave launcher? I love that... Another great option if you ditch the dock. And you can use it from anywhere from any app
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yeah, ADW does exactly what you're looking for, here's another image to add to the pile on this thread =p
What my home screen looks like (click for full size):
You can also set an optional 'hidden' dock that comes up on a specified gesture (for example, if I flick upwards I get my appdrawer, phone and ADW settings).
Tried wave launcher. Wasn't feeling it. Settled on circle launcher. Advanced settings go for deep customization.
With auncher pro i could never find out how to hide dock. Anyways to much work if they can't just add a simple setting to hide it. Shame cause I want it for the gmail widget plus glass sense glass theme.
Only bad think about Adw is the app drawer lags when opening and really bad scrolling. Not much of an issue once I have my screens setup. Never need to use it.

[Q] App for quick shortcuts to other windows?

Hi guys was wondering if there is this app out there that can do the following...
You know when you swipe left or right you go to different windows from the home screen. Is there an app or something that wil allow you to swipe up or down from the homescreen to go to the window to the left x2 or to the right x2. I'm basically trying to find a way to get to my other windows in just 1 swipe as opposed to 2. It might not be much but I would much prefer it that faster if possible.
Anyone know of anything that can do this for me?
I use the "pinch and pick" method. (At least that's what I call it.)
Or hit the Home button twice (or just once if you're already on the Home screen).
That's an interesting idea but I would assume it would have to be built into the launcher you're using. Like home screen replacement Apps have swipe up for this and down for that but I haven't seen them have an option for swipe up for page x.

Will that all eat up my battery a lot if I'm running stock everything non-rooted?
I'm really enjoying being non-rooted because surprisingly everything just WORKs. Battery life is great as I can get an entire 12-13 hour day out of it before it goes red.
Also...why Go Launcher? When I use to have it on my old Evo 4g whenever I would press the "home button" it would close Go Launcher and go back to the stock launcher...also...I have to use their own Friend widget (people widget) if you use it right? Or has that changed? When I used Go Launcher before the People widget I use to use from Sense disappears.
I'm completely stock.... Just download Wave Launcher and try it, if you like it then excellent, if you don't then uninstall... It's a free app so you lose nothing trying it. Good luck!

Stock unrooted, too. GO Launcher (like any alternate home app) doesn't allow the use of Sense Widgets but they have an alternative to most of them and the widgets are themeable. Battery usage is no more than usual and if you REALLY wanna squeeze all the juice you can from a charge, check out Juice Defender. And why GO Launcher? It takes the best parts of all the paid launchers (ADW, Launcher Pro, etc), improves on them, adds in even more functionality, offers tons of themes or the ability to create your own, and it's free! I use GO SMS, GO Contacts and GO Dialer, too. The GO Weather is borked though lol dunno why

[Q] Change lockscreen on stock/deblur ROM?

I rooted and deblurred my Photon, and now I'm happily running ADW Launcher with an ICS theme. Now, is there a way to change the lockscreen as well? I'd love to be able to access the camera directly from the lockscreen.

I downloaded Go Locker and it made me download Go Launcher EX as well. Oh well, I was gonna try it anyway. It looks good so far.
You could always test each and see which is the most functional for you...you can also try locked roms such as rocko and imperial found in the development section
The most reliable one I've found is MiLocker, it has alot of options too.

I've come to the determination that WidgetLocker is the cheapest, most configurable lock screen.
GO Locker and Magic Locker are both free to install, but each theme can only be configured a little bit. Free ones are rare and limited, and you're asked to pay at every turn. It's really annoying. I scored WL for 99ยข on sale, but even for the full price of $2.99, it's worth it to pay once and never be bothered again.
Also, you can configure your launch screen pretty much any way you like. There are some cool unlock gimmicks I've seen other launchers use, and I wish WL would add some of them, but the fact that you can make your own lock screen is pretty cool. I wish I could configure one up and save it, and repeat, and have a gallery of lock screens I've made, like the others have, but I'm fine just evolving the one as I see fit.
WL doesn't work on its own, and I don't suppose any of them do. You have to download an app called "No Lock" to get rid of the stock lock screen.
And none of these are valid options if you want security. For that, you have to disable your custom lock screen and use the system one.
Actually MiLocker is totally free, doesn't ask for donations and after reboot the stock lock screen shows up once then it's just MiLocker. The only down side is many of the themes use Asia characters in them.

Is it compatible with the stock ROM, or MIUI only? I had a good time customizing the lockscreen and such when I ran MIUI on my EVO.
Yup, most current stock Blur Rom.
