[Q] launcher vs nova - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whats the big difference between the stock launcher and nova launcher that comes with aokp ms6. Been using the stock launcher and was nervous about loosing all my screens by switching to nova.
So whats the pros/cons and which do u prefer ???

Thanks

Go launcher ex best..

Apex Launcher/Launcher7/Nemus Launcher
My personal choices are Apex and Holo launcher. Both are very fast, and use little resources. But if you need more customization options, you should go with Go Launcher, it seems to be the first choice for most of the people...

Hi there!
Some good reading in this article may cast some light on your question!
If you are running gingerbread, Go Launcher EX is the way to go. If you are running ICS it's Apex or Nova.
But check out the link for yourself!
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if I helped in any way!

I found ambient time home, it's pretty nice, you should try it. And it does not require a lot of memory

Go launcher ex is the one I would recommend. Very good developer..

i recomment NOVA LAUNCHER its very fast and u can put widgets over other widgets
Go Launcher
For me: Go Launcher EX !!!
..because you can sort your apps in folders directly in the app drawer. Simply more overview and quick access in drawer
I think Apex is best for ICS.
And second is GO Launcher. Go Launcher is customizable than other launchers. It has many themes and special widgets.
Look at this AIO package to customize GO Launcher:
http://www.modbile.com/applications/go-launcher-ex-aio-pack.html
Tsf shell is the best but it's a paid app.

If you want speed choose launcher pro.

I'm using TouchWiz the launcher of Galaxy S3 it's faster than the native of xperia arc/arc s and more beautiful, another one good is Nova Launcher.
Trebuchet Launcher

sslauncher ... far far better than everything else. unfortunetly people dont know it/it has too much options to be easily customised...
Depends on the purpose. I use the stock launcher so that I can use SE widgets. For light weight launcher, LauncherPro (GB) or Apex (ICS) is the best. And for lots of themes and show off, Go Launcher and TSF. Now you decide!

Use espier launcher for ios look. I used for a few days n thought it was good. If you like ios more I suggest this to you. I reverted back to stock launcher as I like android (personal view)

Nova launcher is the best.. Apex is also good but not as smooth as Nova.. Try for yourself

Best Launcher for ICS

The Best is apex

Nova for me. Drag and drop of widgets works perfectly on rooted phones.

I actually alternate between nova and apex.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
I'm using Apex. is simple and has good customization. but still have a few themes.
I prefer apex pro.

Been using Go EX until today when I tried Nova and Apex. Chose Apex as it seems much smoother.
apex pro its simply best:highfive:
There is no best, only better.
I prefer Apex with an ICS Theme.

+1 for apex pro

I agree... try holo launcher, it's also compatible with gingerbread and jelly bean.
I didn't even know there are seperate launchers for ICS!!!! Just upgraded my RAZR, and the launcher pro felt a bit dated. Trying apex now, seems REALLY smooth and customizable. Will try Nova next. Both seem like top class launchers.
Go launcher ex is EXTREMELY resource hungry, and slowed my RAZR down to a crawl. Despite the great feature set, i'd rather have a fast snappy phone. Spending so much dosh and seeing your phone struggle is just too depressing
stock launcher ^o^

Any way t make folders look like native ICS folders?

I think the toichwiz folders are ugly and don't want to use a different launcher. Any mods to use the regular ICS style folders?

Nova launcher of APEX launcher I personally like APEX launcher.

when using a different launcher is there a good method to keep TW from hogging the memory?
HTC One S via XDA
Adwlauncher allows you to customize how folders look.

Lightest Launcher for JB?

What launcher is the lightest on RAM/CPU, has the smallest size, and is the smoothest for Android 4.1.1 JellyBean?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
The lightest launcher would probably be lightning. However I use apex it is pretty lite and smooth as well as great icons and Widgets but again lightning is most likely the lightest

Home launchers

Hey guys I was just wondering what home launchers you guys are using I'm using nova launcher right now but I'm looking for a launcher that won't take up too much RAM the most I've seen on nova is around 30mb also what lockscreen apps are good?
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda app-developers app
I'm on Gingerbread, so I idk how much ram would be used for you, but I use Holo Launcher with 3 pages of 4x4 widgets, and another page with a clock widget, and Facebook widget. I also have regular app icons too. I keep the app in memory and it only uses 24MB of RAM. I use Holo Locker and the keyguard service that runs on the background is about 8MB.

Based on their .apk sizes Holo (non HD) is the smallest followed by ADW, but that may not reflect what they actually use at run time.
There are already threads in the general and themes & apps forums for home launchers so you might want to browse through those.

Using Next launcher, like it a lot.
Im using NextLaucher3D, stunning work havent used very many but this one is my fav so far VERY customizable
Have tried just about every launcher except the $16 3D launchers which I'm guessing may not be for the OP if you're concerned Nova is using too much RAM. I love tinkering with themes and widgets so I love using SSlauncher but it also requires a fair amount of RAM. Nova Launcher is a great combo with Tesla Unread and Widget Locker, my favorite overall combo of launcher-lockscreen but I've seen other's rave about Holo. Apples and Oranges I guess but I got Prime when it was on sale for 25 cents so I'll stick with that.
I actually prefer just using Sense over a 3rd party launcher if given the choice but obviously its not supported by all ROMs.

I'm not worried about nova seems to use just about a reasonable amount of RAM compared to others the next 3D launcher uses about 30 mb less than go launcher surprisingly
