All of a suddon my phone is waking on a regular basis. Its doing my head in and I can't isolate the issue...

It started after installing jkay framework 14.1 .... but I can't find the conflict, any ideas guys? ... better battery stats doesn't seem to shed any light on the situation.. :-(

Its like you have sync on. Get Better Battery Stats to find out what app is causing the wakelocks. It can be found by search the xda forums

Ok, i'm using LiteningROM 3.6 with Jkay Framework 14.1, and Litening Kernel 3 (i think it was.) but i tried changing to the latest Siyah release and still the same awakes....

I did have sync on, but even with it turned off its doing it... its strange, even sometimes after I press the (power) sleep button it wakes up straight away.
will need to read up a bit more on better battery stats.... making very little sense to me, as evrything i think could be it does not have any wakelock counts...... (btw as I have written this reply my phone has woken up twice on its own..... FML.....lol)

This is a last resort... I could easily also try a dirty install, but i'm keen to find the root and cause of the issue for future reference....
I noticed your wakelock is coinciding with your screen being on. Do you maybe have NoLED installed?

Battery life started off OK with this rom, now its just awful. After 8 hours today, im now at 16%. I have cpuspy installed, and betterbatterystats as well, but i dont know how to interpret them (wake-locks and such).
Rom is shostock v1.9.4

Barely used the phone at all today

The problem is with the firmware base. ShoStock is based on UCKK6, which has a notorious wifi wakelock bug. I would suggest moving to a different ROM.

At this point id be fine with just flashing back to stock (if that is the most stable and bug-less method), as long as i can root and remove some ATT bloat.
Not saying im opposed to any other rom, but im just at a point where im done tweaking and trying out different roms for this reason. I just want something that works.

I'm a big fan of UnOriginal, because it's based on UCKH7, and it gives me awesome battery life(it's heavily debloated).
For you, though, you might want to just go back to stock UCKH7 using this method. That'll get you a completely stock, and relatively bugless, experience.
Most stable (for me) was UnNamed 2.2.1. I'd go with that if you want Gingerbread. If you want to try out ICS, flash a few of them and see what you like. I like SHOStock2 myself.

btw normal drain has temporarily been restored. I charged it to 50 a few hours ago, and im only at like 43% with moderate usage -__-

Update to SHOstock v3.1.
Haven't changed roms yet, will do it pretty soon, but i really wanted to figure out what exactly is eating up my battery.
I have bbs and cpuspy installed, but i have no idea how to interpret them, can someone help with this?
I feel like this happens to me with every phone i own, regardless of what i have installed.
Facebook can be bad.
NFC was a HUGE battery drain on mine.

facebook isnt the problem, i installed it only after relazing my battery sucks, and it wouldnt make a difference either way.
The point of the thread was to actually make sense of what bbs spits out, as of right now i have no clue what that crap means, and thoeries of why my battery sucks are just pure speculation.
Switching roms may or may not help me, but i at least want to know WHY...
I was getting quite good battery life with CM9. I had to switch to AOKP though, because for some reason CM9 wouldn't see a lot of the files on my internal sd card (meaning, they would not show up in any file browser - directories would show as empty). Today is my first full day on AOKP with no bugs to speak of. So far I'm at 88% battery, after 5 hours and 20 minutes, with the screen on for 30 minutes.
Browser, AudioOut_1, and FacebookService are my top 3 partial wakelocks in BBS. CPU Spy tells me my phone is usualy at 200 MHz or in Deep Sleep (94% of the time, combined).
Maybe give AOKP a try? Also, SHOStock2 was pretty good in terms of battery and performance the last time I used it.
As for your terrible battery life, it's probably wifi. I'm not the most technical user, so whenever I was on a ROM where I wanted to figure out of wifi was a killer, I'd just turn it on and off every couple of hours and then look at the battery graph/chart. If it's dropping more quickly... well, you get the idea.
Your drain is from the wifi not sleeping. Use wifi only when you need to, it uses MUCH more power than 2/3/4g. What's happening is that your wifi isn't entering sleep mode, so while your phone is sleeping, your wifi is still pumping out huge amounts of data. Literally your entire drain problem. Uckk6 had a bug that prevented wifi from sleeping if it got de bloated. Sadly stock kk6 which came out as an ota stone time ago, didn't have this bug. Since then it's been fixed in some roms. To fix this issue a newer ROM is required. Either that our very sparing wifi use. If you turn wifi off when you are not using it, your battery life should jump to fifteen hours early, if not more.

Its for sure not the wifi. I switched over to AOKP, and my battery life is still terrible. I've had this happen on multiple phones, multiple roms, etc. I only install needed apps. Even had a thread going through exactly what i did to my phone. right now im at 66% after 6 hours, pretty awful, especially compared to what i used to get.

Nothing in there was the problem with my phone.
Im honestly at my wits end with this phone, and android altogether. I dont even see what the point of installing bbs and cpuspy is if you cant really see anything from its results. Honestly, the only thing people say is its probably this and probably that, but nothing i have shows that.
If i wifi was really the problem, then wouldnt disabling it solve everything? If the ip5 is decent, and has a bigger screen, im probably going to bail on android unless i can get these issues figured out.
FWIW, Wifi is a battery killer, I had the worst habit of leaving it on and my battery surely paid for it. I found this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.diordsoft.wifiauto&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5kaW9yZHNvZnQud2lmaWF1dG8iXQ.. that will turn it on only when connected to a charger. If I am somewhere that has a hotspot, I use a toggle for it, if I need to download something.
I get about 2 days out of a full battery charge (light use), using the NEAK Kernel (and it was about the same with Siyah RC5).

3G/4G > Wifi in terms of battery consumption.
However, if the signal is weak, your wifi radio will struggle to maintain the connection. Thus draining more battery.

This may sound silly
My daughters captivate had a similar problem and it was pissing me off, finally somebody told me to check the battery by spinning it, if it spins at all its bad well it was only 6 months old and it spun alomost 3x my sgs2 battery didnt spin at all and has been fine.

1. Your screnshots and the BBS log do not show the same duration/situation.
2. BBS shows deepsleep of > 1 day (83.5 %), so your phone is not awake all the time.
3. Check in menu Settings > Location services and disable all options. Enable GPS only when you need it.
4. Many alarm wakelocks. Do you always use the phone to wake you up/alert you in the morning? Disable the alarm and check if deepsleep and battery life is better.
5. Google Talk seems to be active all the time. Maybe you should enable Flight mode during night to keep it from connecting to the internet.

Good day everyone!
I've been seeing some spectacular battery lives posted by some of the users here, and I was wondering, how does your SGS2 hold up against heavy usage?
I did a quick measurement of my usage today and found that my battery consumption was at ~1.5min/% while I was websurfing via 3G and listening to music while on the train. Under similar conditions, how fast is your battery consumption? (min/%)
I'm on RR v2.6.1 and cm9 kernel, and I can only manage 16 hours tops with light usage (several texts over the course of the day with 1h screen on time), 6 hours under heavy usage with 4h screen on time.
My wakelocks seem fine (at least I think, I could upload a BBS log if required), autosync is off, minimum brightness, I do a full wipe + cleaning script every time I flash a new rom. I undervolt and underclock too. In deep sleep I estimate about a 1% loss/hour? (Not too sure about that) Right now android os is at 26% alongside screen usage at 26% too.
Am I being paranoid, or is this normal? Please advise, thank you!
Never used RR, I use CM9, I have the exact same settings as you, but I can get up to 6 hours screen time or more. Usually get about 5 hours screen time with 3-5 hours of music though.

Man...with 3-5 hours of music my battery would probably be half-dead haha.
Anyone else out there who could help? I'm relying on my portable charger to get my through the day because my phone dies on me too early, and its pretty inconvenient if I forgot to bring my charger.

3g eats more battery than wifi..
If you play games then your battery will surely drain faster..
As for people like me who dont play much games and just use the phone for surfing, facebook, chat, etc i uc/uv to get what my battery has to offer

So as the title suggests I've been having problems with my GS3 battery. It runs down so quickly during normal use. For example, when it's just been in my pocket all day with the very occasional check for messages it's still on 70% after about 8 hours. On the battery stats the main suspect is 'android so' if not screen.
Secondly, it takes forever to charge. One time it was very low, maybe 1 or 2% but I put it to charge before I went to bed and in the morning it was only on 80%. Also if I use the phone whilst it's plugged in it still discharges at a very fast rate.
Who can help with the problems? I'm on temasek's unofficial build of CM 10.1

There are many battery saver profile you can use with stweaks , for battery sucking apps use greenify , for charging problem use different charging cable bevause samsung ones are shieeet.

well download and install BetterBatteryStats from xda and run an idle log. Post it here and we'll see what we can do. Better yet, post it in the BBS thread itself. Very experienced people there. As for the charging problem, either your charger is faulty, or your charging port is the culprit. Try changing chargers, if that doesn't help, then maybe you have your answer.

battery always drains faster in cm roms unlike stock ones and that's a well known fact. all you can do is changing the kernels. i "personally" recommend boeffla kernel(may/ may not be the same for you). and this slow charging and draining even when charging must be due to faulty cable. i suffered from this too. just change the cable and it will be good.

What is an 'idle log' and how do I run it?
Also, with the cable, it sort of moves around whilst in the socket, could that be the problem? But it charges quicker when plugged into the PC with a different cable (from my external hard drive) so perhaps it is just the cable.
Multiple posts on here say the stock cable is poor

Install the app, fully charge your phone, unplug the phone, and run the app to see if it's working. Then leave the phone for around 4-5 hours, preferably overnight. Don't use the phone for that amount of time. After, press the share button present on the upper right corner and make sure that 'text dump file' is checked. Press save and you have your idle log, which you can access using any file manager.
And most probably your charging cable is faulty. Try changing it.

It's really easy to diagnose battery life.
Install stock CM, fresh install, no gapps. Check battery drain.
No battery drain? It's apps/gapps, especially facebook and all that crap (wakelocks).
Battery drain? Most likely modem/poor signal, report back.
Anyone else got any ideas? I'm guessing Facebook is the main culprit?
I think I'll get a new battery for my phone actually. I'd rather be sure that my battery's okay and I'd like the extra boost too. Any recommendations? A friend just said get a 3250mAh off eBay but what do you think?

Depends. Are u downloading anything? Wat apps have u installed? Using wifi or 3G. But even with 3G. Shldnt be tat fast. Shld be ur battery.

Battery Life on Stock Lasted Longer for Me
A few days ago i flashed the latest Resurrection Remix rom. Previously I had stock, and I am really liking this custom rom. But the battery life on here is terrible compared to what I was getting on stock. I have photos attached for review, I really appreciate any help I can get on extending the battery life with my current configuration. Thanks
Try NeatRom .. it's an AOSP ROM. Or if you want Stock, try Imperium Rom.
These 2 Rom's really have good battery usage.
