Screen Keep Auto Turn Off - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi XDA,
I wonder why my screen keep auto turn off even I set the screen time off at 2 min. Sometimes just right after I press power to on m screen then in just a split second the screen auto off. My phone is a GS2 GT I9100 on Rootbox Tom Siyah kernel 3.3.2. Appreciate if I could get any answer from here. Thank you.

The 2 min timeout is only applied after you unlock your phone. Your lockscreen has its own timeout, which is just a few seconds

[Q] Home screen lock time and screen turn off time

Hi All!
I've pretty much got my Photon setup the way I want it to look and act except for the home screen lock time. I don't mind the screen turning off so quickly, but every time it turns off, the home screen locks. Is there a way to change the lock out time? The lock slider gets annoying when I have to keep doing it during text conversations or if I'm streaming Pandora in the car and I have to unlock the screen to see what's playing, etc.
Also, I have my screen turn off time set to 1 minute, but it seems like it turns off in about 15 seconds. Any help with this would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for the help!
Did you try going into Settings>Applications>Development?

Galaxy S2 brightness lowers by itself?..

Hi Annoying problem with my galaxy s 2, the brightness randomly lowers by itself. Say one time ill lock the screen with the lock button, unlock it 10 minutes later and the brightness has dropped and I'll have to put it back up again manually.
I've tried resets and firmware upgrades but that doesn't work.
I DO NOT HAVE automatic brightness on.
Any ideas?
you might accidentally use statusbar to lower brightness, I did that when i was using stock roms. keep you hand away from holding the statusbar
Oooo that might be it, I'll try avoid now I know it can happen and see if it happens again now.
Cheers

Prox sensor dead. App to turn off screen in call?

Hello every1.
So I got myself a galaxy s3 second hand, and I managed to drop it today from the first floor.
It's screen didn't got damaged, but my proximity sensor isn't working anymore.
When I am in call, my screen does not go off when the phone is at my ear because the sensor isn't working.
Is there any app, that will turn off my screen when certain events happen?(like getting a phone call)
I am too lazy to reach out to the upper sides to turn the screen off.
Is there any way I can do this?
tasker
EDIT:
Thank you very much.
I had problems but I figured it out. Too bad I cannot set the display minimum timeout less than 7 seconds, but it's okay.
So I set my screen timeout to 7 seconds when the call is answered and when the phone is idle, set it back to default.
Genius app!
Thank you so much!

Unlocking the phone is a hassle sometimes...

Hello, Everyone.
It's my first time posting here. I just received my phone yesterday with 64gb/3gb MTK variant. I have been testing it out and noticed that unlocking the phone is a bit buggy or is there a setting i can change? Here is the problem: When i unlock the phone via power button it turns on and after a split second the screen turns off. And if i try to unlock it again via power button it won't turn on. If i try to unlock it via fingerprint it turns on and everything is fine again. Is this a bug or a feature i can turn off?
Thank you.

Hi,
I don't believe that to be the default behavior when pressing the power button.
What is the version of your ROM?

MIUI Version: MIUI GLobal 8.0.4.0(MBFMIDG) Global
Baseband: MOLY.LR11.W1603.MD.MP.V13.18.P50
Kernel: 3.18.22+

Additional: When I am playing a game the screen randomly turns off and the first mentioned problem occurs again. Or when i am just using the phone the screen turns off.

This happens after you leave the phone for a bit right? Not after you manually turn off the screen. I think what is happening is the moment you try to unlock it, the screen is not actually locked but the brightness is just way too low. This phone when left untouched has a two stage brightness dim
1. The brightness when you immediately stop using it
2. A lower brightness which comes 15 seconds after you stop using it and then it actually locks
The latest global developer ROM does not have this problem as they increased the second stage dim brightness so that users are not fooled into thinking that the screen has been locked

Screen Dimming

RE: Samsung Galaxy AO2s. When I am on a call, the screen starts to dim in about 20 seconds or so. I then have to double tap to get back to the brightness. How can I stop the dimming? Thanks for you comments.
