Please help me revive me 1 year dead phone! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks! Please help me! I killed tons of nerves because of this phone!
So here is my sad story. 1 Year ago i bought second hand HTC HD2. Seller told me that phone is locked to T-mobile(Not US one!! UK one!! Transaction was held in UK). After I got phone I rushed home to install Android and I was successful at this point. Then I bought a unlock code from ebay, so I Finally could make phone calls. Then I realized that the only way I can insert code is putting back WM 6.5. And here the worst part starts. I read hundreds of manuals but still was unsuccessful. I downloaded many official WM 6.5 ROM installers but they didn't flash my phone. They just got stuck at 0% and error pops up. I was trying it for a week and then I just raged and put phone to the shelf and was waiting til I get will power to start over again.
I hear that every phone needs its own ROM installer for particular region and operator but I couldn't find UK T-mobile ROM so used many others and it didn't help.
I also heard that by IMEI it is possible to find to what operator the phone is locked(just to check if seller didn't lie me) but again I didn't manage to do so.
Here is my IMEI 354120035834066
Please experts help me, little nooby, with this horrible situation.
thank you

Many people report that you can in fact put the code in under android after all,,,, perhaps its only earlier versions that couldn't. That being said you probably want to put a new one on since it (and magldr) will be old versions.
Anyway, all that hanging at 0% is because there is no hspl installed.
Plenty of places to get tmo stock rom,, go put
3.14 ruu Leo tmo uk
.....into Google. When I just did it the real htc site came up second.
Its not necessary, tho,,
Phone into bootloader,
connect USB
Use hspl4 to set 3.03.hspl
Return to bootloader
Flash any 3.14 rom USING USB,NOT SD CARD
Done.

Thank you, but always when I am trying yo install HSPL4 critical error comes up. I think it comes up because I have spl 2.1000000 which should be 2.08 I found information that in order to downgrade to 2.08 I need to flash official ROM. But when I am trying to do so it is always stuck on 0%...
I am so $%^& up ...
any ideas?.... thx

Does HSPL4 not allow you to install 3.03 to your device ?
T-Mobile UK ROM is available direct from HTC site:

My SPV M3100 won't start...

Hello.
I have a problem I hope someone here can help me to solve..
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that hangs on the Windows Mobile screen when I try to start it.
I'm able to go into bootloader mode, and i have tried using mtty142.exe with the set 14 0 command. It still won't boot. I've also tried to hard reset it.. still won't boot..
What I did was trying to unluck the SIM-lock with the Universal unlocker (HTC_Uni_Unlock_v1) from buzz. At the time I thought universal meant that it worked on all HTC devices (stupid, I know)... And I also thought it was harmless to just try and see if it worked. But I got an error around 92-93% and after that my device won't start. So my radio ROM might be screwed.
I'd like to flash my ROM with the i-mate one (JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe) and then add the ext-rom. But how do I do that when I can just access the bootloader screen? And do you think it will boot again if I'm able to flash it?
Here's some more info about my device:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.04
Thank you very much in advance. Help will be highly appreciated.
No your rom *is* screwed. You can get into bootloader, you can even get to 11% of a dopod etc rom upgrade if you try, but you will not flash a new radio.
You CAN boot the device.
Do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset. The unit should boot but as you've screwed the radio you will not get a gsm signal and the phone will say unknown sim status.
I know this as I bought one cheap after the owner had done exactly the same as you.
IMEI-check's unlock solution is the only one that works IIRC, and in some cases this re-writes the security area of the phone and repairs similar issues, but in this case I could not get the prog to read.
You need to return the device to HTC - you'll need to pay approx £35 for reflashing back to the orange rom. This is what I had to do.
Currently you cannot book the m3100 in through the web as it's too new, instead email / call them.
http://service.htceurope.com/
edit - or if you're an orange customer ring 150 and act dumb saying it ' won't work'....
Richard
What happens if you just leave the phone in bootloader mode and then try to flash any ROM (imate, dopod, htc...)? run 2 times the RomUpgradeUt.exe if you get an error on the 1st try.
If you get an error while running the rom upgrade utility you can monitor the USB port while upgrading (you will see the real error from the bootloader then), there's some more info on this wiki page:

good luck

No, if you want to send it back under warranty do not try to run a rom update as there are no orange rom packages. As described in my post above, it will get to 11% and stop. The device will be in the same state as before, with the same ext rom, but the splash screen and bootloader will have changed.
i.e: it will be bloomin obvious you tried flashing it and failed. Not what you want if you try for a warranty repair....
There is no error from the bootloader - as there is no radio rom present and no security area the upgrade process just hangs.

That's true, do not try to flash any other roms if you want to use the warranty or send the device back...
Thank you very very much for your help guys.
As I'm the administrator of these devices in the company I work for I just grabbed a new SPV and will send this thing back to Orange. It sounded like I'm getting a new one..
Well, I think I've learnt my lession.
Oh, and I have another question. Is there a reg editor I can install on this one so I can remove the app lock? I know I can install java apps, but it's a bit grumpy about apps that needs installation (the developer must be certificated).
Cheers guys.
Hi,
Try to flash a new rom using the SD card method described here:

The rom must match your CID. Let us know if it works

Sorry to take the thread a bit OT, but just wanted to confirm this again.
So, if I flashed my M3100 with a different ROM, and then had to return the phone to Orange for repair for a different reason, I can send it back to HTC just to have the ROM reflashed, and then send the phone to Orange to get the repairs done?
I've been hesitating on whether to flash the phone with a non-Orange ROM because I didn't want to give up the ability to obtain warranty repair (as there is no ROM upgrade yet). If it's just a matter of £35 and then everything else as normal, maybe it's not so bad...
Thanks!

[Q] T-mobile HD2 Update MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1), What is it?

T-mobile HD2 Update MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1), What is it?
Today T-mobile release a new software update. Does anybody know what it is for?
I assume if you have a rom installed it is no good. I am running Energy Rom, and Radio 2.15.50.14, so I am assuming updating would be a bad idea.
yeah has anyone installed it and what are the benefits of it?? I want to know b4 installing...
You may get better answers over in the TMOUS HD2 forum on this
Features of the 3.14.531.1 update
I also had the same question - what is it that changed with the new HTC HD2 ROM? I spent a lot of time searching, and found this:
Pasting the text below, just in case that link dies (I hate it when that happens):
[pasted from phonesreview uk on 10/22/2010]
==============================================
For all you T-mobile HTC HD2 smartphone users out there who have been waiting for an official software update to land, you’ll be happy to know that today is the day you have been waiting for as T-Mobile is to release software update version 3.14.531.1 to the HTC HD2.
According to an article over on Tmonews, the new software update from T-mobile will deliver several fixes along with stability improvements and access to new apps like Amazon MP3 and Shazam. As for those bug fixes…
The new software update will fix such stuff as slow browsing when on Facebook, the inability to delete Gmail messages in the preview screen, Twitter errors, SMS being delivered to the wrong person, and the white screen whilst browsing the net, the inability to hear Visual Voicemail, unable to unlock the device, unable to unlock the HTC HD2 with correct password, and the lack of a space bar on company directory keyboard, and finally the speakerphone doesn’t work after using the Call Assist app to call 611.
HTC HD2 user can download the new software update by visiting t-mobile and following the instruction; however T-mobile will issue a notification by text to HTC HD2 users when the update is ready, which should be today the 19th of October so keep an eye on your text messages and let us know how you get along.

It will also **** up some stuff, while fixing others.
No Bluetooth stack fixes...
Its horrible...I'm having the worst connections to apps like Omarket, Marketplace, Slacker Radio...The Wifi will not stay connected...The only thing working as far as connections is the internet.
edit: Everything's working now except the Facebook app.

yes, it will be locked again! But, there is no reason why T-mobile will not request an unlock code from HTC on your behalf. Usually it takes 24-48hrs

Why you say it's a bad idea...because the official is no good or because you can damage the phone this way ? I went from omega to the 3.14.531.1 and I experience many problems freezes restarts etc ...I think the update damaged the phone (although it was successful)

you probably left hspl installed, 3.14 plus hspl = "many problems freezes restarts etc"
Ι am no expert but I am sure I replaced HSPL with SPL 2.08
Still I experience all these freezes and restarts with both 2.13.531.1 and 3.14.531.1 versions (in 3.14.531.1 it even freezes when you insert the memory card)
Can it be something else ?

Entering the bootloader right now says 2.10.0000
It must have been changed after flashing the official 2.13.531.1 (via USB)
Prior to doing that I had run the utility hspl3 and chosen 2.08.0000 (there are 2 choices in this utility as you say 2.08.0000 and 2.08.hspl) so (I thought) I had replaced the hspl with the official loader
Does this utility (hspl3) effectively changes the SPL or just updates the displayed number ?
Do you suggest following the micro SD card method to flash and not the USB method ?
I read somewhere that the ONLY way to replace the SPL is by flashing from micro SD...so what is the hspl3 utility for ?
Can you help me with that please ?
I need help because the phone right now although it seems to have been flashed correctly to official 2.13.531.1 and displays 2.10.0000 as it's SPL version freezes and restarts every some minutes...

yes, because you chose teh wrong 2.08 (next step) it will be changed by usb flashing. Had you chosen 2.08.hspl, this would still say 2.08.hspl

for a start hspl .exeis for applying hspl, not just removing it - you can simply run hspl3 (or hspl4, whichever, makes no difference) - choose an spl ending .0000, hspl is gone. choose one with .hspl and, , , guess, , , yes! it loads hspl onto teh phone.
Can you help me with that please ?

yep, happens a lot that, especially with stock roms,, give 3.14 a try perhaps.
3.14.531.1 has more problems...not only it freezes with certain applications (or making phone calls) but it freezes when inserting the microSD card as well...that's why I went to 2.13.531.1...at least I could keep the microSD inside without freezing...
And that's why I think it's not a firmware-software issue...that's what I'm trying to verify...
Now I have another bigger issue...after trying to flash a firmware that I think it wasn't T-Mobile's by mistake (the phone is T-Mobile model) the SPL is now 3.03.0000 and the 2.13.531.1 and 3.14.531.1 firmwares refuse to start flashing
Is there something I can do ?
I want to go back to 2.13.531.1 so I can sent it to T-Mobile
Thanks
Use hspl4, choose 2.08.hspl, reflash 2.13.
Sounds like you flashed a non tmous stock 3.14,,, don't do anything that silly again.
Just confirm for us,,, your send key is green, right?
Thank you very much I used hspl4 and managed to go back to the proper ROM
As for the send key if you mean the key with the little telephone on it yes it's green...the phone is T-mobile it says so on the top
Now that I have tried 2.10.531.1 - 2.13.531.1 and 3.14.531.1 versions and all 3
suffer from strange freezes and restarts when making phone calls or watching movies from the internet or the storage card (after some time) don't you think it's safe to presume that there is a hardware fault and return it to the vendor ?
Do you think there is something else for me to try ?
Thank you again for your help...

How do I find Stock ROM for my phone?

I am trying to go to the HTC support site to get the official 3.14 ROM for my HD2 which I need to return to tmobile because it keeps hard-freezing on me and I'm pretty sure it's hardware related, but if I return it with HSPL they will slam me, so I need the original SPL and everything on this,
when I get on HTC Support site I cannot, for the life of me, find where I can input my S/N and get the right ROM for my phone, anyone got a link?
No tmous roms on HTC site, go to T-Mobile.com instead.
lol, thanks
Hey Orangekid when you get the official ROM from T-Mobile downloaded would you mind dropping it in a e-mail to me, my e-mail address is in my profile info. I got me another laptop because I was stupid and busted the screen on my other one. Anyway everytime I enter my IMEI into the T-Mobile sight it says it does not recognize my IMEI. I had a copy of the stock ROM on my other computer just in case I ever needed it. And I don'feel like having to on the phone with T-Mobile costumer service for two hours like I did the last time I downloaded the ROM from T-Mobile, they had to generate a generic IMEI for me.

Thanks man, I just like to have a copy of the stock ROM handy in case something goes south on me.
But seriously I was on the phone for two hours last time, I don't even want to try that rought again.
I wish I new of a way to make a network between my new and old laptop without having to actually set it up on my old laptop.

stock rom 1.66 for my phone in O2 network
Hi there.
I am looking for a stock rom 1.66 for my HTC HD2 which I have in O2 network. My device's number is: P/N:99HJY070-00. When I am trying to install another ROM there is information on my phone's display saying "not allow".
Can somebody please let me know where can I dowload it? Any links would be very helpful.
Any other advices are welcome here.
Many thanks
There is no 1.66 o2 rom, branded 1.66 roms are version 1.72, and you will find it on the HTC website.
If you want unbranded 1.66 you need hspl. Use hspl2, choose 1.66.hspl then flash the 1.66 over USB.
At the moment I don't have any soft on my phone, the main problem is that I can't connect my Phone to PC- my laptop doesn't see the phone,so I can't do anything.
I would install HSPL if it was possible, but at the moment I can't.
So that is why I am looking for a ROM which I could install by using memory card.
Any ideas?
When phone is in bootloader and you connect USB, if word serial changes to USB you can flash. Wmdc/activesync wont see it in bootloader, but rom flashing/hspl will still work.

[Q] Touch screen/Rom update problem.

Hello guys,
I have a question, lately I tried some different ROM's and also a Windows 7 rom. But after a while my touch screen stopped working, so I resetted my phone returned it to it's original state with the normal windows 6.5 rom and brought it back to the shop, although I forgot to change my HSPL.. Now HTC says that my guarantee expired due to me modding my software. Now there is another shop in my city that has a HTC repaircenter so I was planning on bringing it there, I restored it to the original HSPL, but when I try to update my ROM back to the STOCK rom it stays still on 0% while trying to update it. So I'm quite unsure what the state of my telephone is, wether my touchscreen is broken or not because if you could've seen the state my phone is in you would think it's brand new. So I find it hard to believe that my touch screen really broke since I never dropped it. If anyone could help me out what to do, because HTC send me a bill of €480,- if I want to repair that phone and that is outrageous ofcourse.
If anyone has any other idea's, how to get my stockrom back on or take it to another shop where they repair cellphone's, please enlighten me!
wrong stock rom often causes hang at 0%, you sure its the correct stock rom for your phone? cant just use any hd2 stock rom.
Yeah, I'm 100% sure it's the right stock rom.
when you say 'I restored it to the original hspl', , which spl did you set? (which spl shows in bootloader, now?) Also, what does teh top line of bootloader say?
Pb81100 hx-bc
spl-2.08.0000 8g xe
thats not a regular hd2 stock spl, that's only stock spl for tmous phones. send a regular hd2 back with that spl and they will know you've been hacking it.
assuming you don't have a tmous (hd2 model and full filename of any roms being discussed is always very useful in post 1), use hspl2 to set 1,66,0000 and try the sd card flash again. I've tried reverting to stock O2 UK rom from spl 2.08 in the past with the same failure. reverting to 1,66 and the flashing fixed it.
Alright, I've read on some forums that that was the right HSPL. Do you by any change have a link to that HSPL or can I just google it because I'd rather not download any risky files anymore since my phone is ****ed up as it is right now. Thank you so much for answering my questions mate, you've been a great help though.

its the right 'spl' (its not an 'hspl', , , its an 'spl' ) for a tmous phone, ,
go get hspl2.exe from the hspl thread (or see links in my sig) run it, choose 1.66.0000 or 1.66.hspl
(unless you DO have a tmous? you haven't said, and its hard to tell if you're american or not, , you said 'cellphone', but alos 'shop' instead of store, so hard to tell, hehe)) , and i havent looked up the Pb81100 hx-bc code to check)

Oh my bad, I am from the Netherlands. Alright I'll try that, thanks for your help mate.
Alright, I got Windows Mobile running again. Thanks for that. Although my touch screen is still not working sadly enough.... Guess I'll have to pay a visit to a phonestore.
good to know for sure that 2.08.0000 prevents downgrading. confirmation is always useful.
Unlucky about the screen.

Stock rom not working

Dear XDA Developers community,
my father recently gave me his old HTC HD2. It had its factory default stuff. I wanted to download some apps and play around with it, so I downloaded some apps from the marketplace. As soon as I downloaded a free Sudoku game, and ran it, the phone stopped responding. I tried to do a soft reset, but the phone did not respond either (it was stuck at the menu).
Now, I may have done an error: I removed the battery, instead of performing a Hard Reset. When I turned it on, it started rebooting in a loop, being stuck always at the HTC white welcome screen.
I decided for a Hard Reset. Well, it always gets stuck at the bootloader screen (the screen with the 4 colors).
So, I researched a bit, and found out, you can return to its stock ROM, eve with a stuck bootloader.
Well, I downloaded many old ROMS (the Rom before the problems was a 1.66 one), and ran the RUU through USB. But it always gave me a Incorrect vendor ID error (I think it was 194), so the update would always stop at 1%.
I even tried a 1.43 ROM.
I tried many WWE version Roms, but they don't seem to work. My father bought the phone on Amazon US, with no special contract or phone lock, so I guess it has to be a WWE, so I don't know why the RUU says it's incorrect.
I have seen other threads that have some similarities, but my exact same problem has not been addressed.
I would be very happy if you could help me, since I do not want to spend any money on repairs which I could probably perform with help of the community
I would be most glad to give more information if needed.
Many thanks in advance.
Edit:
The issue was resolved by installing HSPL4 on it, and then using a WWE 1.66 ROM on it! Silly me for not trying that earlier!
glad you sorted it, , to explain why it wouldnt work, you were not using the correct rom for that phone.
Your first clue would be the 'invalid vendor id'. An 02 phone (for example) will only take o2 roms, a tmo phone tmo roms, a voda phone, voda roms. Only unbranded phones take pure wwe roms, so for example
ruu leo htc wwe 1.66.405.2
see it says HTC in the filename? its for unbranded (not sold by a network) hd2s only.
I guess you have a branded one. (even if its been unlocked, the rom lock always remains, which is why we have hspl)
Incidentally, you only had trouble because you initially flashed from sd card, and step 1 in teh sd card flash is hspl gets removed, the phone restarts to continue flashing but because hspl is now gone, it fails. Had you flashed from usb teh first time, it would have worked.

Thanks for the answer Samuel. I got the phone to work again, and I even loaded NAND Android from the DFTeam.
Although the ROM runs just perfect and I love it, now my Volume Up key has stopped working.
I could not post on the Development section, so I guess I won't bother anyone, and will just post it in this thread.
It is a minor issue, but it's still is annoying. I found on the forums problems with the key with other models, but not with the HTC Leo.
Maybe someone has heard of this. Again, thanks in advance!
