After rooting - would it be possible to switch ATT operating system to international? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I purchased the att version because I was more interested in the 2 gb of ram over the quad core processor.
but I live in Brazil so I had the phone unlocked for when I return.
what I found is the international version has way more language packs than the att version and I want to be able to use brazilian portuguese when using swipe which just is not available on the US models. being able to switch languages english to brazilian port. in swipe is a BIG advantage for me. It helps ALOT!!!
is this possible? can anyone give me any insight on how to do it? where to start?
anyone in San Diego know how to do it? I would pay to have it switched.
thanks in advance.

You can flash my ROM - it has Swype in it as well as standard Android keyboard - both support Portuguese.

that would be awesome, unfortunately I have no idea to do any of this stuff. I am VERY new.
Is a flash the same as rooting? or is it just loaded like an app?
finally, would it work on the text messaging keyboard? as in being able to switch languages (and keyboard types)? Portuguese has a bit of a different keyboard. On my s2, it would switch automatically.
anyway, any help would be appreciated. thank you!

any help would be appreciated....

First you have to root. The guide is in the stickies. There is a video on YouTube as well.
Then you can flash custom roms. Like the aforementioned one.
You flash them in the custom recovery you install during the rooting process. In this case cwm.
Pm me if you need help

[Q] [DESIRE V] ROM Languages -

HI everybody,
I just got a desire V (T328W) dual sim in Malaysia,
After unlocking it I have flashed the so called "european" ROM, just to find, with my great disappointment, that it only contains east european languages.
I love this phone (IMHO, the only decent dual sim smartphone on the market) and I would like to add my language (Italian) to ICS, or at least in sense 4.0. I am a newbie when it comes to android, so can somebody tell me whether this is possible without re-cooking the rom?
Thanks in advance for suggestions!
GG
PS to MOderators: would you pls consider opening a dedicated forum for this phone?
Download the app MoreLocale 2:

Worked for me for the T328w/Desire V with european ROM
Looks and Performs Really Well (+1)
Please ignore this post. I some how managed to post it into the completely wrong thread. I have no idea.

[Q] Galaxy S2 i9100M Chinese rom?

Hello,
I recently bought a Samsung galaxy S2 from Virgin Mobile (i9100M). And I plan to bring it to China to a family member who can only read Chinese.
I have unlocked the phone using the galaxy_S app. However, the phone does not comes with an option to change language to Chinese as with most Samsung phones.
Now what is the easiest and safest way to have the laungage change to Chinese. I am thinking of flashing it to a Chinese Rom. I think any CM9 or CM10 rom also have chinese language support. My idea solution would be flashing it to a offcial chinese rom, e.g. a Hongkong version of stock ICS rom and next time I connect to Samsung Kies, it will recongnize my phone as the same one sold in HongKong, so I can update it in the future? But I don't know if that is possible and if it is risky.
Another solution would be flashing it to a stable CM9 or CM10 rom. Any suggestion of roms and tutorials for flashing?
I also know there is an app called morelocale 2, but it only changes the app name to Chinese, all my settings, menu and dialers are english, is there an replacement for them with Chinese lauguage support?
I would not be able to trouble shooting afterwards, so stability is very important. Any thoughts, useful links would all be welcome.
I understand there is a lot of different instruction thread in the forum for S2, I really have a hard time to go through all of them to figure out which is what I need, as I really just want an answer to my specific situation, (all I need is to have the Simplified Chinese language support), so I created this thread.
Thanks very much.
move to Q&A forum?
Mod, is there a way to move this thread to galaxy SII Q&A forum? Didn't realized that when I start the thread. Thx.
I'm sure they'll get to it in due time

I've got a CM10 ROM (Paranoid Android) and I just went to language and input in settings and changed it to Chinese simplified - in the menu it's at the bottom and looks like this 中国
(简体). The whole thing changed to Chinese.
A lot of the stuff is still in English because the apps are that way, but all the important stuff is in Chinese, like the address book and messaging etc.
Put on QQ, which they all use, and wechat and you're done.
Good luck.
Thanks.
Can I flash it to a Chinese version of stock rom? I am just not sure if all stock version for i9100 model should work for this i9100M model? Ideally, I want it to behave like a phone bought in China, so they can update it via Samsung Kies to the next version of Chinese offcial Jellybeam rom when it is out.

[Q] Some help with a chinese cellphone with Android

Greetings everyone, before I made this very first post on the forum I can assure that I used the search option. So this is my little problem. A friend of mine just bought a phone made in China with Android OS (sounds pretty stupid to me). The problem is that the menu contains several sections where the english language is not available, but only chinese.
The most important thing I would like to know is what softwares should I use to upgrade the phone to a better version with full English menu, it would be nice to have Romanian language too but the main issue is to get rid of the chinese thing. The phone is using Android 2.3.6, if anyone could help I could provide all the information about the software versions of the phone. Also I can post a picture or the phone name if this helps with something. Many thanks!
Hi The phone make and model would definitely help. I'm sure you can't be the only person that would need english on that device!
What's the name of the cell....and intalling a new custom rom will solve your problem
Using XDA premium through A5
Press thanks on help
MCT 666 is the name of the phone. Another phone that he just bought is a Daxian XY 100. To be honest I've never heard of them before.
Search for their custom rom
Using XDA premium through A5
Well I did but I couldn't find anything so this is why I'm asking for help. Would Cyanogen help me with this matter?

[Q] System in Hebrew and more.

Hello,
a new xda user :victory:, and a new Nokia 920 owner, tried to search the forums for my question but unfortunately ended frustrated.
I bought my phone in Kazakhstan and it doesn't support a Hebrew language for the system (Hebrew keyboard is enabled tough) and also it got many apps and stuff that is in Kazakhian (that I guess came with the phone and will be there every time I update the firmware or such - That's how it was on my Galaxy S3 from Germany).
I heard that I need to flash a version with Hebrew support and maybe it will even fix my other problem with the Kazakhian apps.. I heard it from a store here who wants not so little sum of money to do it.... so if he can... I guess I can do it too.
The problem is - I don't know where to get the rom or firmware that I need with the Hebrew Language, and also I don't know to flash or do anything that involves Nokia... I did on my Galaxy S3 tough, So I don't think It'll be a difficult to learn!
Thanks a lot for everyone who helps!!

[Q] A newbie question about RTL languages on Lenovo A690

Hi,
I recently purchased a Lenovo A690 smartphone on a Chinese website and now I tried to configure it to use Hebrew for menus, buttons etc. It shows the Hebrew in reversed characters order.
It has Android 2.3.6 installed and even after I checked the system updates screen it doesn't show any available updates for it. Is it possible to fix this? If so how?
Thanks a lot,
Yuval.

maybe it doesnt really have any available updates at all..
That sounds unlikely... the version is from 2012 - and there's another issue...

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply but I really think that it's highly unlikely that there are no updates for the OS... that version (2.3.6) is from 2012... something must have happened since then...
Also, what I'm really interested in solving is the Hebrew characters order. Besides, isn't it possible to upgrade it to KitKat?

phone updates really depend on the manufacturer..you can somehow update/modify your phone through custom ROMs..
regarding the Hebrew character order, i really dont know about that.. sorry
KitKat? again still depends on the manufacturer.. :good:
