The Situation:
I a currently stuck in ClockworkMod Recovery with no backups, no usable flashable ROMs, no ROM installed, a screwed up internal SD, and virtually no way to use the ADB or ODIN in Download, because my phone rarely, if ever, recognizes USB cords for anything but charging (This is a hardware, not software issue. It persists from ROM to ROM.)
Thoughts?

There's a lot, so I will be clear, as concise as possible, and will try to remember everything.
You might ask, "How did this happen?" or even "WTF?"
These are the steps I've taken:
Originally, I used OCLF for rooting + ext2 lag fix, followed by Team Whiskey's latest Bionix ROM. I hadn't removed the lag fix as I was told it should not matter. I was having a multitude of problems, so I wished to revert to Stock. When a standard nandroid restore didn't work, I searched and learned that flashing back to J12 should let my nandroid restore work. This did NOT work, however, and, once again, I was stuck in the boot sequence. I re-flashed the Bionix ROM to see if I could just live with it, and, no, I couldn't. I looked some more and found that, given I could flash a JFD or J16 (I believe) image, I could then perform a restore, then install a 2.1 kernel. I found the image and flashed it. THAT worked, but the nandroid was still refusing to cooperate.
Today, I flashed Team Whiskey's Obsidian V4.2 ULF Kernel ROM, succeeded, and found that my internal SD partition that hosts apps existed, but was 0.00KB. I thought about installing App2SD, but I decided I had too much room internally to want to deal with that. I tried to add a partition via CWM ROM Manager, but did not take into consideration the fact that it would need a ROM to flash once it had wiped and partitioned. I'm not sure how that partition creator is supposed to work, because it wipes the drive that the ROM is on. At that point, I somehow managed to get back in business by formatting w/ backup.
I tried flashing Obsidian V4.2 w/o the lag fixed kernel, thinking this was the issue with my internal partition system, but I never found out because install, post-wipe, failed at line 11. I could not turn the phone back on because it had no complete install, and nandroid was still not restoring, so I went through Recovery and factory reset, wiped cache, tried mounting and unmounting different file systems, including the sd-ext which refuses to mount, citing "E:INFO is WRONG Error mounting SDEXT:!".
I've installed Superuser, messed with the Lagfix and Tweak options, and reset default permissions in the ULF Kernel Menu. All to the effect of allowing the ROM flash to progress to line 85 before failing. I can't remember the errors it gave, and can't flash again, because, in my frenzy, I formatted the system, data, cache, and sdcard. I still have a nandroid available, but it has an md5 sum mismatch. There are three more viable ROMs on my external SD card, but I have no way of moving them to the internal, and the "install zip from sd card" menu won't access the CWM backup folder or the external because it says there aren't any there, which isn't true.
I am completely at a loss as to what to do. Is there any way to move files from external -> internal sd in recovery?
ANY help that isn't "You're screwed" would be appreciated.

Well, adb would be able to move files from external sd card to the internal one but if you don't know how to use it then Odin might be simpler. I'll pm you some instructions but if you cannot get your phone to be recognized in Odin because of USB issues then I'm not sure how to help.
Okay, so my phone wasn't sending messages all of a sudden. I have a P769 on jelly bean rooted. I restarted it and it got stuck in a bootloop over and over again after countless battery removals. I used CWM and tried to restore my backup of JB rooted, and all I got was a bunch of force closes. So I restored to my 10G rooted on ICS. All of my Google apps were gone and I went to take a picture and it said my internal memory was full and wouldn't read my SD card. I did factory resets and nothing works. I'm not sure what else to try.. any help would be appreciated!
Edit: I finally got JB to load and it would scan my SD card, then reboot itself while it was still up and running? I could see my backlights on my buttons flashing. So I took out my SD card, same thing. I wiped the cache and reformatted my SD card and now i'm getting an error message saying that my UIDs are inconsistent and it won't let me do a thing on the phone. My phone was fine 12 hours ago.. I haven't downloaded a thing or accessed anything at all.

I know the UID inconsistent error from my previous phone. Wipe data. Solves the problem.

How did you 'reformatted sdcard' ? Are you talking about internal memory(built in) or external memory (microsd)?
If you have some fresh backup system like 20x STOCK or whatever. (you can download it from XDA)
After this actions it will totally format your phone. You will no longer have system, apps, files that were on internal memory. It's kind of format C: on computer! So make sure you have backup on your external sdcard (microsd) and make sure to don't format your external sdcard.
I did it few times when I was messing around with custom ROMs so it's safe. I'm owner of P760 but don't think so if it will cause some problems.

I've wiped the data like the previous answer, and I also tried this.. I went into CWM and formatted all of this and wiped the dalvik cache, then tried to restore from external sdcard, which I tried my JB and ICS and neither worked. Right now I am on my JB and it just gets stuck at the T-Mobile 4G logo.
EDIT: I tried formatting everything and restoring from my external sdcard and my phone won't recognize my sdcard anymore. It says there are no files on it, but I try it on another phone and I can see the files.
I've had something along these lines before on my Huawei Honor. I never did work out what was wrong. I asked on xda and it was suggested that the partitions on the phone had resized/gone corrupt.
I'm not saying this is what has happened in your case. The sudden force closes and then no boot is what my Honor did.
Can you get software update mode to come on? Switch off, hold volume up and plug in usb from pc.

Yes I had the same problem when I upgraded from ics to jb. Never figured out what happened but I copied all my files to the computer then I formatted my external sd. After the format I just copied all the stuff back on the card. Also cwm doesn't work for the second partition. Good luck.

Sorry if this is quite a noobish question, but I'm a bit confused after not doing this for a while. On my Note, I used to wipe and flash new roms all the time. I haven't yet done that with my M8 so it's been quite a while. I remember when I used to factory reset, I'd always still have my pictures and music (all I really care about). Now I'm reading up on it and it's telling me everything gets wiped, unless on my SD card.
Well, I didn't use to keep everything on my SD card. I know I have pictures and music stored on both. Will my media on my phone's storage get wiped?
Factory reset just wipes /data partition. Internal storage should be left intact. There might be some variation based on where you do your wipes: recovery, within OS, or hboot (wipe from hboot not recommended on modded phones). But I believe for the most part, its as I mentioned (/data gets wiped, probably cache as well, internal storage is left untouched). In TWRP, it specially states that factory reset wipes /data, cache, and Dalvik (which resides on the /data partition anyways); and that "most of the time this is the only wipe that you need."
Default save locations for TWRP and Titanium Backup are internal storage (although you can change it to the removable SD). So it would be self-defeating if a factory reset then wiped those backups from internal storage.
But you should always back your personal data anyway (especially memories like pics and videos you took). Lots of ways to do so, from automated clouds solutions; or just plug your phone to your computer, then drag and drop. Its not unheard of that internal storage gets corrupted when wiping or flashing a ROM, or just from day to day use for that matter. Back it up, and avoid regret.

That's what I thought. And I'd always used TWRP or CWM before, and this always left my SD card and internal storage intact. Now, however, I'm fully stock and would be doing this through the OS, so I wasn't sure if this operated differently. I see many articles stating it wipes everything. So I just want to verify that the OS factory reset functions just the same as the TWRP reset and will leave my media intact. I will of course back everything up, but I'd rather install TWRP and reset that way if the OS reset would wipe everything completely. (If I remember correctly on my Note, there is a separate 'format drive' button used to actually wipe internal and external media).
If anyone could just confirm once again before I proceed. BTW, thanks a lot redpoint, you're always a huge help on here.
I couldn't say with any certainty how the reset in OS settings works. Especially since it doesn't even say "factory reset" anymore (which was always a bit of a misnomer, anyway) but now says Reset phone Reset all data on phone. I have to say, it does sound a bit ominous!
After owning 6 Android devices, I've done a factory/data reset in OS a total of none times.

Sorry guys, guess if I tried it I could've answered my own question. The HTC version actually specifically tells you what it's going to erase and then gives you the option for wiping internal storage and SD card.

Good to know, as I believe this has changed over time. On some previous HTC devices, I believe factory reset in settings just wiped user data, and didn't give the mentioned options to wipe internal storage and removable MicroSD. So it seems they made it work the way it should work.
Well, I thought everything went smoothly. Thought I backed up everything I needed. Turns out I can't find any of my contacts from the past year or so. Any ideas?? I know I had basically everything syncing before. I reloaded my google account, my HTC account (sync is greyed out), ATT Address book. There's a million things used to back up, I don't understand how my contacts could disappear.

I was under the impression I did, but they're not there. What about the HTC backup? I thought that's why I signed up for an HTC account. And then the ATT Address book. I can't find anything

I've only ever used Gmail for backing up contacts, so sorry I can't really help as far as the HTC Backup or ATT Address Book.
So I just updated to 5.0 and I need to do a factory reset.. some things are a bit buggy. However, it appears the reset options have changed. It now specifically states it will erase all media including photos and music from your internal storage. Before proceeding, it gives another warming that all media will be erased. Can anyone confirm pictures and music are actually deleted? I don't think I've ever done a factory reset that erased my stuff like that.
Edit: so yeah Lollipop does a full wipe. New thread to figure out best way around this.
Edit #1: Sorry, the question form didn't save the "This is a question post" tick after I previewed, I hope that doesn't mess up things.
Edit #2: I should also point out that I backed up everything previously, so I don't care about saving any data on the phone, I just want it working again...
Edit #3: I keep forgetting some small details, the phone wouldn't boot even when removing the SD card.

Two days ago I decided to try the SD Link feature from Link2SD on my Galaxy S2, because I was tired of running low on internal storage space when I had a 32gb SD card just for photos.
I was only linking games and other apps that were not important to the phone's normal functionality, but on 3 our 4 occasions Link2SD would hang on the linking process and I'd wait 10 minutes before force quitting the app each time. This wasn't causing any problems, until the last hang. I restarted the app and saw that it couldn't compute any of the other apps internal size. So I rebooted the phone and got stuck on a boot crash.
Sometimes the boot would go beyond the Samsung logo and into the Cyanogenmod loading, but the phone would shutdown before leaving that screen.
I had CWM on my phone, so I tried a bunch of stuff:
to wipe data/factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
wipe cache
reinstall Cyanogenmod from a zip (either from internal, sdcard0, sdcard1, and even Odin)
After so many attempts, my searches started pointing me to the fact that some system files could be bad, so I tried:
format /system
format /data
I didn't format /boot but it's reaching the point that it's the only thing I haven't tried.
So next I used Odin to flash back to stock ROM, and in the process lost CWM.
Since that didn't work, I flashed a stock Kernel too.
I should point out that the phone was working perfectly before this Link2SD mess, and also that each time I flashed with Odin, I would get a glimpse of the app optimization process, that would reach around 39 of 42 apps before the phone would shutdown.
I'm running out of ideas and search keywords.

I'm hoping to get something clarified when it comes to installing ROMs. My phone was working fine for a couple of months since I acquired it, I started getting a bootloop yesterday, and I decided to use TWRP to do a factory reset. Still bootloop. I did another factory reset + wiped out internal storage, and reinstalled the ROM. Checked file manager in TWRP, and saw that internal storage is still empty, with the exception of the TWRP folder, and the ROM zip I transferred back on using my laptop.
I tried booting up anyway, and still have a boot loop.
Is it normal for a successful ROM flash to have an empty internal drive? Are the folders Android, data, DCIM, and the rest all populated on the internal drive upon successful bootup? Or is it something that's supposed to be there right after a successful ROM flash?
I'm having a had time figuring out what I need to do at this point.
