[Q] Font Size on Stock ROM - HTC EVO 3D

Hello,
My father has an EVO 3D GSM, he is still running Stock ICS. It's not even rooted.
Sometimes he has problems with his Evo3D because the font size is too small for him to read (although he normally just needs his glasses to read things like newspapers).
On my Sensation (Running Cyanogenmod9) I've got the option to change the font size from small to gigantic (maybe it's not called gigantic, but it looks like it).
I don't want to change his rom from stock to cm, cause his PC knowledge isn't that good and he always needs help if there is a change. So changes = bad.
Is there any way to change the font size on normal Sense 3.6 ICS on Evo3D?
It shouldnt be a problem if i root the device, but it should stay on stock rom.
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards
Fabi

You could try flashing a font with a larger typeface or at least an easier to read one, after rooting of course. Unfortunately, sense does not have a way to resize fonts afaik.

Do you have any example for such a font?
Or do you know a "hack" to change that settings parameter?
EDIT:
Found something: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.bfont&hl=de

No, but the program I use is called Rom Toolbox Pro (available in the Play Store, there is a free version you could try). It requires root, but it allows you to flash fonts from a large list of available fonts and shows you a preview of the font first. You (or your father) could choose the one you like best.

How do I get 2.2 apps to work on 2.1?

I been noticing developers getting 2.2 apps to work on 2.1
I would like the NexusKang Live Wallpaper and its only for 2.2
How do I go about making it work also for 2.1?
If its possible is the method used the same for all 2.2 apps to make them work for 2.1?

The method to backport apps depends on the app. Some, well, most cant be back ported. Nexuskang im fairly sure cannot be and kmobs didnt want to make compatible with 2.1...was meant to replace nexusmod livewallpaper. Which is extremely similar, and honestly as close as youre going to get. If you look around on file hosting sites u might find a copy of it since its no longer in the market. Or you can buy nexus revamped. I think it supports custom backgrounds now. Idr...u can check n let me know. The free version even might possibly. I have the wallpaper background pngs identical to nexuskang (which is why i liked it soo much lol) ill upload the if you want them.
Edit: pro version supports custom backgrounds

I have a version of it on my computer.
I also have Nexus revaped, so if you upload the pngs or I take them from the NexusKang myself, and resign the apk, would it work like NexusKang?

Change System Fonts.

Hello my fellow G5 users!
I am wondering if anyone knows how I could change the system font on my G5 to something a bit more sexy like the new ICS font. If so, how would I do this and could it risk braking my phone? If it has huge risks then I won't bother obviously.
Thanks for your replies.
Edit-
Found out how to do it via downloading Font Switcher from the Android Market for free, and simply finding the font I want and I installed it. The ICS font Roboto is very nice!
Also try font installer, seems easier to use.

it is not down to the rom mate it is down to if the developer of the rom has changed a few apks and framework to support it. so for example if you was to go in android development most of the roms there now are multi dpi anyways..if you was to install cm9 or any aokp roms you will find they are multi dpi..try wanam lite...that is one...anyways it is down to choice buddy and the only way you get to find out is by trying..but your best bet is cm9 or aokp or try wanam or foxhound for mdpi
Yea I know that mate, I am currently on slim rom but I am wanting to go back to sammy stock but I hate the dpi at 240, I've been running aosp roms at 182 for so long 240 looks huge lol.
Thanks for the info, I will give wanam a try

no probs mate..just ask in the rom's thread if the rom supports it and most of the time nice people will reply to you...if i am not mistaken anyway most roms now on ICS do support that.
Well ive tried a few different sammy roms and all that come with stock dialer all have the same problem, no one has seemed to have looked in to making them multi-dpi which is a real shame :/
So now i have to figure out whether i want sammy rom that looks huge or aosp at 182dpi....
I cant even find any information on the net to decompile the apk's and change them to work with different dpi
Shame, real shame.....
If you don't mind going back to GB, Hyperdroid is great and multi DPI compatible (once you download petsasj's modified touchwiz launcher, anyway)
Also I'm pretty sure doc (doctorcete, one of the hyperdroid devs) made a post somewhere on XDA on making apps multi dpi compatible. I know that the hyperdroid devs put a lot of time getting apps like the stock calendar to be multi DPI compatible.

I feel exactly the same. Nobody seems to care about dpi issues.
The only answer I have seen is 'use another dialer' which is insane to me, as SURELY someone has a stock dialer with dpi adjusting working correctly on an ICS stock rom.
Depends how badly having the dialer the way it is annoys you.
Hello guys. I've had the same problem with quite a few ROMs. But finally i found that changing DPI on my phone no matter the ROM its as easy as to editing a line of text on the "build.prop" file.
You have some options to change density on your device.
1./ The easiest and safest is. Get from market "LCDDensity for Root" its free. And changes the DPI "on the fly" and the change is not permanent it will revert on next reboot.
2./ As root user you can edit /system/build.prop look for " ro.sf.lcd_density=180" and change it to the value you feel comfortable and reboot
3./ If you don't want to mess with system files directly, on the market there's also free apps just look for "build.prop" editor
or last ... wait until your ROM developer include the feature.
I Hope this could help..

Ive given up on looking for multi dpi launcher and dialer etc, all roms i have tried just use alternative's so ive stuck with 240dpi.
Reply to post above:
I wasent asking how to change dpi, thats the easy part, the problems start after as touchwiz launcher, dialer, calendar, calculater, email etc etc is not capable with different dpi apart from default 240.

[Q] Can I put my touchwiz.apk on another OS?

Mine came with it now, so i was just wondering what would happen if i were to save those APK's (theres touchwiz itself, touchwiz launcher i think, maybe a couple others) to apply on top of a stock android OS??
Is that possible at all? It would be 4.0.4 style, but that doesnt bother me at all. if its possible that is.

Well, yes you can put your touchwiz.apk to other OS, what its going to do is its going to make you device look like samsung device. These are the launchers used to customize the look of the whole ecosystem and that's is the major reason why people drives away from iOS to the Android ecosystem try using the touchwiz launcher and see your device transform onto samsung.

Please do your research before replying.
No it will not work as they need the base touchwiz framework to work properly which stock google doesn't have.
This is the price you pay for running a custom aosp based ROM.

Is there some (fairly easy) way to transfer the framework as well?

No because the frameworks control the whole OS. They are not cross compatible

Hmm, in that case, are there mods available to make every part of the stock OS look like the touchwiz OS, including the notification area?? Thats gotta be my biggest thing that i hate about stock. I love the compact 1 page aspect of the touchwiz version.
I know theres a theme for touchwiz, i tried it on another device. but all it changed was the main screens. settings and notification areas stayed stock. That was a total bummer, i thought i found my solution right there...

Some have a notification setting for the compact tiles but not completely like touch Wiz. I would either get used to not having them or use a stock based ROM. To be honest I would get used to bot having them as with the next update the whole thing is changing again.

Well the one i tried playing with the settings with is the moto G... but there are practically NO customization settings, at all. wallpaper and ringtones were all i was able to find. no notification bar settings, no compact, no nothing.
Im still using my ICS with no issues... im more thinking ahead for the future, will possibly set a couple of roms aside to try. Its gonna take alot to get used to the much uglier notification area though... maybe ill never have to!

[Q] recamendations on theme or apps

i used the cf auto root and NH7 so still 4.4.4
im looking for some suggestions from the experienced users of either app or themes based on my needs.
im vision impaired and deaf so sound is whatever but vibrations are great if customized. as for vision, i work best with the dark themes. mainly like everything is a black nackground with light colored text. even google chrome. i can do it on my pc but not phone and i did try firefox but altho it worked, not very stable to use. i do tend to lean towards go launcher bc of editing how i like and still simple icons. nothing fancy or whatnot. but another app would be like a note pad where background is black, font is white but you can change the size of the font. ive tried blackbook app but its perfect if i could just change the font size. can anyone suggest any dark themes or apps that could benefit me? im not to ready to update to lollipop yet but if its the only way to get certain things i need, i will but for now i would like to try to stick with android 4.4.4. thank you in advance to any help and advice!

Hi , have you tried to change your font size ? Go to settings/device/font/font size and you can change your font size. Or you can change style also while your there 5 fonts that come with the device. Or you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752379 download and install this APK and you have 500 different fonts to choose from.
