Why no LTE during calls? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Why is LTE not available while calls are in progress?

because it still does voice over 3g and I would imagine it can only transfer data through one at a time.

The reason it still has to do voice over 3g is because not everyone is on 4g yet.

I surf the web and facebook while on the phone with LTE active voice is not 3g it is 1xrtt

I'm guessing you're on AT&T? They decided not to enable/include SVLTE functionality on their S III because it is battery intensive, and HSPA+ data can already be used while on a call. Verizon and Sprint both included SVLTE because the gulf between EVDO and LTE is so large, and SVDO (EVDO and Voice) itself consumes significantly more battery than just dropping data.

[Q] i9100 on aws 1700/2100?

Can you modify the S2 i9100 to work with Wind/Mobilicity in Canada?
No. It's a hardware problem. The phone is incapable of receiving one of the frequencies. AWS requires both to work.

I should clarify. The phone will work on that network; it just won't get anything better than Edge data speeds for mobile data on any network that only uses the AWS band for mobile data.

Droid DNA on AWS networks

I recently bought a Droid DNA about a week ago, it has S-off its unlocked, rooted stock. Basically I am in Toronto and I am on Wind Mobile, its good enough for what i need at the moment. I am paying 30$ for unlimited talk/text + data which i am currently using on the my Nexus 4.
Now I found out the DNA doesn't work on AWS so that's a bummer but there are other carriers if i really need it. Is here anyway that i can use my DNA on Wind Mobile by flashing the radio or messing with some settings because it can connect to roaming just not home.
Thanks.

fist check the freq bands and make sure that the antennae that comes with the DNA using the gsm settings are compatible. If they are, you should just need to set your phone to gsm and add the correct APN for Winds network.
Nope, which bands a phone is compatible with is a hardware thing and can't be changed through software.

Yeah that's what i thought but I just figured I ask just in case there was a solution. No big deal, I'm just getting a good price with Wind that the main reason, so in case I want to switch to the DNA i can just switch to another carrier.
Thanks for the help
Do not flash radios that aren't for the DNA specifically or you will brick the device...

The phone is quad band HSPA except 1700, Quad band Edge and HSPA you should get HSPA+ if the network your talking about uses 1900 like AT&T if it uses the right frequencies you can use AWS HSPA+ I would test the simcard add the proper APN in the settings and she if you get above edge.

I put in the sim card and It only detects it as "Wind Away" and its connects as roaming. Wind runs on 1700/2100 shouldn't it not be able to connect at all? Why do you think it connects to roaming?

No 4g.
Ive only recently had my area refarmed on the 1900mhz band and get 4g. Well hspa plus, but you have to be in a refarmed area, or in a 4g lte area to pick up 4g. As as far as my research has gone the o/g optimus g no 1700/2100 aws support. But it does support lte and 1900 mhz. As for the att xperia ion surprisingly supports 4g hspa plus in my area, hit 14mbps down and like 2mbps up. On the refarm ive hit as fast as 9 down and about 1 up or so. Hope this helps.

epc.t-mobile.com gives you faster hspa plus speeds than running fast.t-mobile.com i have no clue why but the epc setting give me close to double the speeds. im not sure if its to even out the spit between hspa plus and lte but yeah.

LTE - derp?

GSM Arena for Blu VIVO 5: "4G bands LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 7(2600)"
???
I think I'm getting LTE!
Ive been playing with the phone for two days now, I'm pretty sure im picking up LTE, the signal strength is real strong and the phone is super fast! We just need a custom recovery and i think this phone is a hit already especially for the price range.

Before rooting the device i advise to do the network update first, i rooted using King Root and now i can't update the network even after removal of root& King Root app! I haven't tried a factory reset yet.

Unlocked Galaxy S9 Plus direct from Samsung vs T-Mobile US brand

Hello all,
I know that the phones are advertised as 64GB Internal Storage units. For each specific units, Samsung Unlocked and T-Mobile US, I have some questions.
How much Available Space is for the user? The default Used Space? And the System Memory space used?
What about WiFi calling support? Does the Samsung unlocked version support it?
Screenshots if possible please! Thanks!
i have the samsung unlocked one, and 2 things i have noticed so far.
1. no wifi calling
2. i have spotty coverage, places i get service with my tmobile note 8, i get fewer bars with the unlocked s9 plus

spotty coverage can be explain if you call your carrier and have them your EMIE register..etc...something like that...I had same issue with AT&T because I was using unlocked Samsung and never bothered to call AT&T, but after they added my unlocked phone to their system, it got much better....there's something about SIM....
The most annoying thing for me is how it won't automatically switch from roaming back to T-Mobile when I travel in and out of roaming zones. I can confirm that Band 71 works with the unlocked version! I traveled last night across US 2 and US 52 in North Dakota. I hit Band 71 in Kemmare, and had it to the Canadian border.
