SGSII or... ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I will be able to get a SGSII over the next week for £170. Yeah it's second hand but it works perfectly fine.
Firstly, is this a good price for the phone? It seems like it to me.
Secondly, I'll have about £250 to spend in total, so is this phone really the best choice or are there better phones out there for that budget?
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

There are (probably) hundreds (many dozens at least) of these threads on here already. You can get the info you need from those. We don't really need another one of these threads. The info re: whether it's a good price is probably best answered by a marketplace like eBay (or elsewhere; perhaps even XDA's own marketplace).

I appreciate that fact, but search on the xda app is no good and desktop version lags too much and regarding the price, yeah I could've looked on eBay, but considering I was asking a question in this forum that I may aswell ask that here aswell.

I've seen ones with broken screens going for around £160 total, and working ones going for £240 on eBay.
Just make sure the phone works and the seller isn't a crook.

Probably whatever one has the biggest processor. I owned a Sensation before some prick stole it. It had a 1.5ghz Dual Core and I loved it. Super fast.
If you're asking for advice because you're planning on buying a new device, then please use the **Device Suggestions Thread**.
If you're just generally asking, then the S3 is the most powerful phone but it all depends on what you need the phone to do and what devices you prefer.

Personally, I'M not buying one, however my facebook is getting barraged with questions from people, I did a really half a***d scan of the forums for the Q&A. Sorry about that. . Well I suppose what would be the "jack of all trades" master of none type phone? Really snappy, really pretty really responsive? I'll have the thread moved brb.
I suggest you use the existing discussion thread linked above by KidCarter93.

Getting this device, Any advise for me?

Hello, I'm getting this device on the 8th November and I'm wondering what I should know about it, Shall I get White or blue, Hows the battery, etc, Anything you think I would benefit from can you post in a reply?
Wait for LTE version or note 2 and test them personally in the phone shop. No need to rush to buy the phone. Just my 2 cent

the colour is up to you, all the rest you can find with a very simple facility called search
But if you have the phone and have something to say about it, why don't do it than just saying use search?

I think you will find is you use search, that this question has been asked so many times all the answers/opinions have been posted already.....and all the people that answer these questions are thoroughly bored of repeating ad infinitum the same old stuff.......so do your research and all the knowledge will be yours.

Pebble blue, 32/64GB .. that's it.
The phone is amazing, no issues so far.
This is my best phone ever! Always had SonyEricsson and I'm glad I chose the S3! I tried other ROMS, but I like the stock rom from Samsung more
Build quality is okay, it's plastic, but it is well-built and with a bumper I only feel bumper and screen. I dropped out once from like 1,5mtrs got some little damage on the corners, but I can't see them with my bumper, so they don't exist.
But if I could choose now, I would have a look @ the note 2, because that's an S3+

Yep you'll like it, and my only worry was is it to big? But now I would love note 2!

Tutorials are sorely lacking around here. I'm fairly technically savvy, much moreso than the average person. But even for me it's pretty daunting for somebody that's relatively new to rooting and flashing ROMs to actually follow through with it. Most of the step by step guides require a masters in Android before you can even understand them. Between kernels, radios, AOSP/AOKP, CWM/TWRP, nandroid, dalvik, Odin, GAPPS, format/wipe, different kinds of backups... it's pretty crazy. I know it sounds so simple to people who are familiar with it, but trust me, to many people it's not. Especially with a device that costs so much money and you have to make sure everything is compatible with one another. The developers in here do a great job of creating a ton of this stuff to use but it doesn't seem like the most welcoming place for beginners or "n00bs". Seems most questions or problems are treated by saying "you didn't read enough" or "you screwed up" which isn't very helpful. Part of the problem is that guides and tutorials become obsolete and out of date so quickly, yet people don't want to give new advice because something similar is covered in a 6+ month old tutorial.
So long story short... any new tutorials are welcome! I'm considering rooting and putting liquid JB on my Note but feel like it's safer to just wait for the stock upgrade at this point. I "upgraded" my old HTC Magic back in the Cupcake/Donut days to a CM build with new radios/kernels/SPLs or something, and could never un-do it and ended up making the phone useless.
Another excellent thread ....
With your permission I'll gladly add this into the super thread.
It is tireless work like this, that sets the note section apart as the Premier place to be.
I have every intention of using the note 1 for several years to come for the very reason I stated above.

Many thanks ....g

[Q] Gnexus or SII?

Hi guys,
I sold my S2 because the screen was broken but now I'm thinking about buy another one.
My doubt is, should I buy another SII or instead go for the Gnexus?
SII - > 250€
Galaxy Nexus -> 275€
Both are new phones and I have the chance to buy for a great price.
I know many of you will say "go for Nexus 4" but it isn't coming to Portugal soon and I need a phone ASAP (nexus 4 is out of stock 4 life).
I know pros and cons of both, but they look very similar and my kind of use fits the both.
My question is, with these prices, which phone would you go?
I have s2 but i'm for gnexus, why? because of larger hd screen, opensource everything, ... I buyd s2 because it was cheaper than gnex and have better graphics card oh, also, i don't like gnex because of not having memory card slot
Thanks !
I would like to have more replys!

You're not obligated to answer if you don't have anything to say, that's why you both lost a good time to be shut up
Plus, I was asking to people that might have tried both phones, maybe they could help, like they did (in the other forum), and I'm really happy I chose gnex

Well thread locked. I usually don't like these threads as it leads to, you guessed it flaming. If you ask in device forums obviously your answers will be skewed. You should never buy a device because of "he say she say" specially from a forum. The specs are more than available, the frustrations of the devices are as well.

Someone port this!

I concur with your recommendation it should have been stated another way. Words do have meaning, just sayin
yeah...he shouldve thrown in a "pretty please with sugar on top" and an offer of exchange for his firstborn son and some google stock and a free galaxy note2....lol
There's a difference between being rude and being excited and subtle hints to determine which of the two a person is demonstrating
My Intention was not too be rude hahaha i was excited. Anyone takers on the port? pretty please stinky like some old cheese. Also, unfortunately the only thing i can cook is a peanut butter sandwhich (just kidding) so i cant produce a kernel. Although, i could find an international version an bring it over although that wouldnt help because there on a different CPU right?
