I love the new Rosie size that comes with this new version of MeanROM. However, I am having trouble with resizing widgets on it. Specifically, I have tried 3 RSS readers (google and two others). Each one has an issue if I try to resize it when it's on the top row. It causes Sense to enter an infinite loading loop. I haven't had this issue with friend steam or the HTC calendar widgets when resizing them. The only way I can break the loading loop is to uninstall the app/widget by going through the settings drop down. As long as I don't resize while on the top row i don't have any issues. Unfortunately, this also defeats having some of the extra space the 5 x 4 mod gives.
I did a clean wipe before installing.

the 4X5 Rosie is new and Meanrom is the first. Give Mikey some time to work out the kinks. For now, switch to the 4X4 Rosie or don't put your widget in the top row.

Mikey has released 2 more updates with more tweaking of the 4X5 Rosie. Try 2.1 and see if that works.

so, how do I undo all this....
everything is force closing. I'm on Post-OTA, everything that was changed to blue icons (market, camera, calendar, music, etc. etc. etc.) force closes immediately.
how do I change it all back? is it as simple as rebooting hopefully?..
Reboot resets all fc problems. Not sure what happened. Will be removing all apps except rosie from this. Everything is fc'ing

yeah just found that out after I reset. I don't need any of the blue themed stuff, not much of a fan of blue anyways, but the transparent rosie would be nice to have!
EDIT: removed everything but the modded Rosie and idlescreen base. Worked for a while. But then everytime I hit Home button it says HTC Sense Force closed. So.... Yeah, nice start but too many issues right now. Looking forward to update to it though.

I think if you install the rosie only than install manual apps/widgets it should show what exactly is causing the DC. Be sure to do them 1 by 1

Okay, so this isn't the worst launcher I've used, I can think of ones I hate more. But I do have an issue with it. My home screen always winds up all weird, or everything disapears off of it after a reboot. The other pages are fine and retain their apps and such just fine. So I can't figure it out. Anyone else have any issues? Yes, I'm rooted, unlocked, running Joker Skinny ROM version 0 (Haven't had time to upgrade yet) with the 1.3 ghz kernel for now.
That sounds really weird. I haven't had any issues with go launcher except that some times i want to go to landscape mode and it won't...but i think that's just my settings...it ain't for everyone, but try uninstalling ,wiping cache/ dalvik before trying to reinstall?

I am rooted and running stock ROM. I performed a factory data reset, removed the battery and all went well. My widgets started loading perfectly. Widget Locker loaded perfectly. It was like nothing was wrong. I know it sounds very simple but it worked for me. Qbking77 pm me back and he said that he experienced some issues with GO Launcher as well.

Go launcher ex sucks. For me. I have the same issue....plus its laggy as he'll from time to time. Especially after unlick the phone from the lock screen.

Been noticing the same issue actually. After unlocking it lags. I am probably gonna uninstall and try wiping and see what happens.

I'm gonna try Launcher Pro and see if I like it better...and as it turns out, there are some trade offs it seems:
1) Max 7 homescreens - You can get 18 in Go Launcher EX (9 screens x 2 sets) I think, but I've never gone past 8
2) Can't uninstall from homescreen - You can do this in Go Launcher
3) Can't change icon/name of app in homescreen - You can do this in Go Launcher
4) Less screen to screen animations available - There are about a dozen in Go Launcher
5) Faster than Go Launcher - Though still laggy straight off of lock/screen off
6) 3D app drawer is a nice touch - I almost prefer the side scrolling pages
7) Doesn't seem glitchy - Widgets and apps sometimes would have to be replaced on homescreen in Go Launcher
8) Can't drop multiple apps onto homescreen - Go Launcher can...
I guess if you're all about customizing, Go Launcher might be the way to go...but performance-wise Launcher Pro seems a bit better.

Wow! I can't believe the problems you're having. I've never experienced any of those. I agree with ktt16 on the universal suggestion. Also delete any widgets created during setup so you start with any empty desktop.

I'm running cybiks CM7 port and I'm using go launcher ex with no problems. I think I did have an issue once while on stock but go launcher got updated and had no problems since. I do know that go launcher had a good update cycle so I wouldn't be surprised if your issue gets fixed in the next app update.

In launcher pro, you can uninstall stuff from the home screen if you hold it over the trash can for a second or two.

I like go launcher ex the most out of all the launchers. Just works better and has a better interface to me.
I have used Go Launcher since the start with my Tbolt. I use a lot of widgets and it bogs down. I thought I would try Sense. It runs great until I leave it (run a program or put to sleep. When I hit the home key I get a green and white HTC screen and it says "loading". With Golauncher you could tell it to stay in memory. Any way to make Sense stay in memory?

If you're rooted you could try the v6 supercharger script. It makes the launcher harder to kill and helps it stay in memory.

You could also add this to the bottom of your build.prop
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
It forces the launcher into the memory.

I'm not rooted. Just using a stock TBolt. If I get rid of most of the widgets sense will stay in memory. It does run faster than GoLauncher (will all the widgets running). I'll just keep it minimal. So when is Verizon going to step up to the plate with the one x or s? Then I could run some widgets!

5 of my home screens are devoted to 4x4 widgets, and then I run the clock widget and don't have any problems

I have not rooted my EVO LTE yet. But I installed ADW EX for now and can't stand the menu button on the bottom. It takes up too much space.
I'm not a Sense fan and was hoping version 4.0 was better, but but after a couple of days I still prefer pure Android. Unfortunately I can't figure out why HTC and others are adding permanent home, and back and recent buttons when ICS looks better without them.
Even when I root and install CM9, for example, I'll have a huge menu button that takes up too much space.
Anyone see what I'm talking about?

Man I installed go launcher and I'm wondering the same exact thing. I upgraded to this phone to have a bigger screen than my s2 and I can't even do that without sense..

Another option is Nova Launcher. It is a true ICS launcher that is really slick and and does away with the three dot menu.
There is a mod that could be flash to remove menu bar and remaps it. Have you guys tried it?

If you flash cm9 they remapped the buttons that crap is gone, it's running way better than sense also. Just a few minor issues.

But is there an official CM9 out for the evo? One thing I'm not liking is the 1gb ram and sense. Sense is still too heavy for 1 gb ram. Sometimes it takes 15-20 seconds to load the sense launcher.
I bought apex pro. Better, but when I jump to different apps then hit the home button, sometimes it takes a few seconds to load the launcher.
That just tells me memory is running out somewhere (sense).

OP, just to clarify, when you unlock and run CM9 , you WON'T have the big long menu bar. Even on sense, if you're rooted you can get rid of it.

+1 on Nova.
Running Fresh 1.0 with Nova launcher, no lag but never really had any of the Sense 4.0 reload issues that some talked about anyway. Figured it was just the GS3 people trying to troll but maybe a bad batch of cells went out too..
Anyway, NOVA is sick! Setup the way you want, gives you better visual then GO etc (IMO) and great on footprint (memory). Works very well and as the other user stated, its native to ICS anyway. Give it a shot, blows the doors off anything else I tried and no lag anywhere..
Fresh is great too IMO, there are some great multitasking tips using the ROM toolbox, adjusting heaps etc..works well also,

What you say would be a solution for my discontent. I'm going to root soon and will remove some of the sense bloatware, but removing the menu also interests me. Regarding CM9 once it's officially supported ill be on board.
I bought apex and almost bought nova instead. They both look interesting.

Just to let you know the menu button on the bottom shows because those apps having been optimized to ICS, yes after 7-8 months and developers still doing the same, thats the reason you dont see any system apps doing that, cause their optimize, I wish developers would tho

Another option I wouldn't mind would be to hack the recent apps button to make it think it's the menu button. I'm used to long pressing the home button anyways. I think the Sgs3 is like that.

I'm using Go Launcher right now, and I'm pretty satisfied. Is there any better theme app than this? what apps do you use for your theme?
I really like go sms pro and a few others They make a lot of decent apps, all highly customizable. I used go launcher before I got CM9. As for others? Idk.

I used Go with my Droid X and Liberty and loved it. Since this is my first HTC I've been giving sense a try, but the thing that drives me nuts is the home screen only sits vertical, where as Go works either or.
I never did theme mine, the craziest i got was enabling some of the cool page transition graphics. I'm starting to lean toward Go again, esp if i can get the sense clock/weather 4x1 widget. I have to say i love that thing a lot.

Being only vertical is what drives me nuts about Sense. If there was a way for the homescreen to be auto orientation, then Sense would be all I need.

Same with me, that's a waste of space. Apex launcher doesn't have that black menu bar. Not sure about other launchers.
I used it in the past but found it "choppier" then other options. ADWLauncher EX is my go-to nowadays. never had a problem with it.
I'm trying it right now. It seems to be the only one that I can find that offers a 5 column app drawer and allows resizable widgets for free.
It seems pretty fast, there is choppiness every now and then but that is usually when I'm running other stuff at the same time.
The biggest downside is the Honeycomb menu bar. I emailed the developer about this issue, hopefully they will take care of it since it is a fairly simple fix. If some of you like it too (except for the menu bar), I'd encourage you to email them and complain. The more complaints the higher the chances of a fix. [email protected]
