[Q] Vibration During Games - Bad or Good For The Phone - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Was curious if anyone plays any shooting games like dead trigger or nova 3 with the auto haptic on and at full vibration intensity?
Is this bad for the phone in the life duration wise of the hardware? Games that involve shooting will constantly have vibration going on and it does feel like a 360/ps3 controller but not sure if it'll tear the phone.
What are your thoughts?
EDIT: I forgot to add, does it vibrate when you guys type? I think mine use to but now stopped or maybe i'm overthinking it

[Q] Screen brightness changing

Hi did anyone notice that while watching movies screen brightness tends to go up and down by itself? Its like automatic brightness, but it does it even when its turned off. Even on lowest brightness setting i can see it going little bit brighter, then little bit darker, its quite annoying when watching videos...
Are you streaming or watching locally? Streaming content usually displays odd behavior. I use MX Player Pro and love it.
streaming - netflix.
but its doing this stuff even in games... its not that notiecable when brightness is high, but on lowest settings its so annoying...

I've had that issue on my first Prime. Eventually I replaced it. Haven't had any issues since then.
It's called DIDIM. Basicially it's supposed to automatically adjust brightness and contrast to save battery, you can read about it if you Google "Nvidia DIDIM". I agree that it's really annoying when watching things on low brightnesses in the dark, but hopefully software changes will be able to even it out to make it less annoying. It's a new technology, just have to give it time I hope.
this issue is already known als a * tegra 3 energy saving feature* and is in Android 4.0.3 still enabled and not a changeable value

ok im glad to hear that i wasnt sure if its some kind of "feature" or hw problem. Thanks a lot for explanation, and i hope they sort it out somehow in near future
Any update on this? I'm still having this issue
I had this problem 30 mins ago. I was watching podcast on my flight with brightness all the way down because it was dark on the plane and it would do it every time a white screen came on.
It is annoying but not worth complaining about. It would not be so bad if it didn't take so long to rise and lower the brightness.

How quick does SG3 wake?

I'm sooo close to caving in and replacing my GS2 for a 3, one of my very few pet peeves with the SG2 is how slow it wakes..
Seeing a lot of you guys came from GS2s I figured who best could answer my question of does the GS3 snap to life faster then your old GS2?
Also as long a you're answering what is the feature that most impressed you coming from the GS2? TIA.

Honestly, I find it does wake quicker than my i9100 did. Hopefully more will confirm as it may be subjective, but it tends to wake in under a second when hitting power button on mine anyway where my SGS2 was like 2 or 3 seconds when waking.
For me, you can really tell the higher resolution screen which was a plus for me. The LED light is incredible useful (no more waking phone to see if I have any messages). And the third was definitely LTE which is so much faster in my area than HSPA which seems to be really congested. Those three things made it worth the upgrade alone. All in all, maybe not a HUGE upgrade but a decent enough upgrade for myself

Nice... I know that screen is very nice.. I haven't seen anyone posting anything about the GS3 display staying on while your eyes are still on it, has this feature been included with the AT&T GS3???

Yes, it actually not your eyes it's detecting, but face. Love this feature, very useful when reading something or playing puzzle games.
The way it's working, it turns front camera on a few seconds before it dims the screen, if it detect a face, nothing happens, if no face near, it dims the screen for 5 seconds, then it checks again for a face, if found it, it turns up the brightness and resets screen timeout, otherwise shuts it off.
Wakeup time has a slight lag, but it's not annoying. However if you are using something like SetCPU and set profile to turn down CPU clock to lowest possible when screen is off, then it might not response to touches after wakeup for a few seconds.

Thanks blue265 and [email protected]
Great to hear.. I just found there is a patch to let the hard home button wake the phone which is very cool...
Having a hard time justyifying replacing my GS2 after only 8 months but damn this GS3 looks sweet....
Not to mention I'm seriously thinking of putting my iPad (Gen 1) on eBay along with my GS2, the new Nexus 7 tablet for $199 looks just as inviting as the GS3

Just for the record, at least AT&T version has this feature by default, no need any patches.

This is enabled by default on the Verizon version as well, no patch needed.
Awesome, it'd be getting the AT&T version... Now I see the GS3 Red pre-orders have started and will be available on the 29th, my resistance it's getting weaker by the minute
How have the ROMs been so far for the GS3 (the AT&T versions)?

Modern Combat 5 Slow Sensitivity

When I turn corners or aim down sight its really slow even after I maxed out the sensitivity in-game.
This leaves me at a huge disadvantage, for example I'll see someone on my screen and try to turn at them while they're running away and my crosshair can't keep up.
It's really annoying and I'm wondering if theres a way to fix this or if so is there anyone else there having this problem?
Just curious because it could either be that the game has only just came out or it's my controller/device.
I'm using a
Nexus 7 2013 stock 4.4.4 root
Sixaxis app with BT Genuine PS3 Controller
The game just sucks! How many FPS are you getting (check with FPS meter from play store) if you've low fps,it'll eat you alive.
We've to wait until gameloft update it with increased sensitivity. Sensitivity is just so damn low even at highest! I'm also having problem with controls, it sometimes struck! I needs to lift all my fingers from screen for 2secs before I use game register my touch properly (i'm dead before I could touch my screen)
On iPad ,there seems to be no issue with sentivity, people seems to 360 with single swipe easily!

Yup. He's right. The game is ****. Plus the servers are so overloaded. I am from Pakistan and I cannot connect. I have to use vpn.
I am gonna stick with Modern Combat 4 until the f***ing game gets fixed.

Vibration issue

The vibration feature on my Z2 tablet is a bit weird.... if I enable vibration on the keyboard, but type too fast, the vibration motor will spin at higher and higher RPMs. Never seen anything like this on other devices. Does anyone else see this on their X2 Tablet?
Yeah. It's funny. You can do it with lots of apps. Obviously the software sends a pwm signal to the motor and if another signal is sent before it stops it adds to it. Easy solution:turn off haptic feedback it's a stupid feature that wastes the battery!
I wonder if this is something Sony may fix in a future software update, or if it's a fundamental hardware issue. personally I like haptic feedback for the keyboard instead of sound feedback. Oh well.

screen sensitivity

im currently running LOS 14.1 on two KIW-L24. both seem to have a sensitivity issue. like many if not all, i keep my phone in my pocket. while on my daily routine which involve school and work my phone often gets very hot. it seems that just keeping my phone in my pocket often awakens the phone and keeps the screen on.
i have DT2W enabled which im sure is the problem. the thing is, i had it enabled with EMUI and it never caused a problem. so, what can i do to stop this while keeping DT2W? i also notice that it takes a bit more effort to wake the phone in EMUI than it does on LOS. can the screen sensitivity be lowered for DT2W?
any and all help is appreciated.
DT2W on mine is normal, just tried it, it doesn't activate that easily even when out of pocket. I do remember having DT2W issues on previous device - I had crazy behavior of music player (DT2W wakes up display in pocket => next contact changes track or stops/pauses music, good thing I had lockscreen PIN and changed default shortcuts to custom ones, god knew who'd it call).
Greater chances are that you have issues with ambient display, esp. if you enabled pocket and pickup mode. I've noticed that mine likes waking up randomly while it's on flat surfaces or during car rides (I keep it in holder next to my gearbox), so I guess accel. sensor is giving false data or gets big value peaks which trigger wakeup.
thanks for the input ShadySquirrel! yeah, i have had a few...... i guess thigh dials?? anyway, i dont have ambient display enabled on my phone and the other phone is now back to running EMUI. for now only my phone is having the problem. im gonna post on the LOS thread since it seems to be more of a Lineage issue.... i think. thanks for the help Squirrel!
I hope that issue is fixed far ago
