OTA = "Image Verify Failed" Help!? - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

I have a T-Mobile SpringBoard that was running one of the ICS MediaPad leaked roms.
Today I (for the hell of it) went into options and went poking about. It showed that there was a Huawei update.
WIthout hesitation, I updated it.
Hours later i went back into that section (for the hell of it) and seen that it said another update was ready.
From what i could recall, this new update was a few megs smaller. 24MBs i think.
So i hit the update button. It does its thing.
Later this image appears.
Image verification failed!
Please update to the authorized images
Press POWER key for more than 10 seconds to shutdown!
Battery is low so i don't know if that played a role. Can someone help me out?
P.S. I'm so going Nexus everything after this.

Same thing happened to me................ ppl, whatever you do, do not update the smaller pack, the 24MB one, it will basically brick your device!

Adobe Flash Player 11 upgrade aftermath

Samsung SGHT959 froyo.uvka6 rooted.
I did a lot of searching and could only find gripes about it completely trashing flash viewing capabilities on certain phones.
Anyway, I saw that there was an update in the market for Adobe Flash Player 11 so I installed it. Checked a few flash websites, saw no difference. A few days later I decided to do my weekly reboot of the phone and suddenly noticed that it was stuck on the 'Samsung Galaxy S' logo. I usually see that for about 5-7 seconds before my home screen comes on..10 seconds later, still nothing. Battery pull, re-insert, power on, same thing, frozen at SGS logo...dammit!!! what happened?!? Did my phone's OS get trashed? After shouting various obscenities at my phone I came here to go through some threads to do some troubleshooting..My phone's home screen eventually came to life and all was well again...But it must have been stuck on the SGS logo for 60 or more seconds! I remember something similar happened when I upgraded from Eclair to Froyo but I waited patiently as I was forewarned and knew it was a system upgrade.
I now remember that to update Adobe Flash it's also a system upgrade. My only gripe is it would have been nice if after installing Flash from market there was some kind of warning like "please reboot your phone and wait approx. 5 mins. for update to take effect" but I guess that's too much to ask.
Most of you have probably already updated to Flash 11 but for those of you who haven't OR who have but HAVEN'T rebooted your phone yet this is something to keep in mind. I searched here in Vibrant forums and couldn't find anything related - if there is sorry for the double post.
Anyway, now that I have updated I don't notice any difference. All websites I normally browse with flash videos look same, no speed or smoothness improvements. Probably just bug/security fixes. I guess I should be thankful, when I did a search all I found was how Flash 11 update trashed others' phones.

Rejecting OTA

Hello all. I've been reading with much dread on the changes to my phone with the Verizon forced OTA update. I really don't care about the extra battery bar, and didn't want to have my battery life wasted by the Verizon Location bloatware. I caught my phone twice trying to install the OTA, and I defered it until tomorrow.
That's when I notice you can "reject" the update. Currently if you go into settings, status, you can then click on reject. It appears the OTA will not install.
Hope this helps,
BOBBY
PS- I have a screen shot but can't post a Photobucket link as a new member yet.
I read on here that it will be forced upon you on Feb. 5.
Don't be afraid...
Nope
I rejected the OTA a couple of times; didn't stop it from installing when I wasn't looking a few days ago.
It really sucks that you can't permanently reject an update if you don't want it.
My son has a DroidX that is bone stock. He doesn't care about mods whatever, his phone is all beat up and he could care less what the wallpaper/icons etc are. He just wants it to work.
When the GB update came out for it, he absolutely DID NOT want it but eventually it installed anyway and his phone has been really messed up ever since (it worked fine before the update)
He has so many apps installed that he really doesn't want to factory reset it ( he doesn't even know where he got half of them) but it is going to have to be reset soon.

You can always save it for later.
The file is called OTAPkg.zip and should be in /cache/fumo. You can just download it and postpone the install then move it out to somewhere where you can always use it at a later date.

Hi,
This update will remove all the files and apps in the mobile or it will update without removing anything like a CAB update?
Thanks

Bit the bullet and went for it! Success. :good:
Got fed up with waiting around for Micro$oft and HTC to finish d!cking around deciding if they are going to release this stuff or not. It seems they can't even decide through their own official website announcements what's going on, and both seem to contradict each other. HTC need a big lesson on customer relations, and responding positively, and keeping former promises about updates, or many of us long term HTCers are likely to move to the Nokia side of the Force.
Anyway, moving on from the corporate politics...
Ran this on a factory-supplied unlocked HTC Titan X310e, and it worked an absolute treat... 25 minutes of loading various updates, but no problems noted thus far. The only thing I did notice was the HTC hub icon not acting in live mode in either large or medium tile size (just goes dark). Maybe that's just a refresh issue, but not really bothered - it's only an icon to launch the real app. Resized it small fort he HTC logo, so I know what it does if I need it.
It will ask you to install the Dev Kit first (5 minutes tops) and that installs all automatic, then relaunch 7-8er, choose language pack (be careful to scroll down the full list if you want English UK), and just watch it update. Remember to enter your PIN after it reboots after each incremental upload so the next stage can run.
Brilliant work.
On my unlocked from finland lumia 800, it just stops after backup is created. my phone shows a left arrow pointing to the phone, crossed out.
Patience is a virtue

Yes, it does show that on the screen for what seems like a good 5-8 minutes... just be patient and let it do its thing... eventually the white progress bar will start moving across the top of the screen.

I update my phone using SevenEighter a few days back. It was working fine until yesterday. Afther update i noticed my phone is restaring abnormally. Yesterday night colors where messed out in background screen and after restart it was fine.
Later My phone made again abnormal restart and didnt wake up any more!! Was just showing Nokia logo and thats it. After serval minutes it made continious restarts. So i figured out that problem may be related to Lumia 800 Battery issues what has happened with many people! (My phone is 3 days old). Today i downloaded original RM ending .. 12070 and i was able to recover using nokia care suite. thank god!
So my question to you guys is have you noticed same thing happening with your phone? Also does wp7.8 contain any kind battery fix like 7.5 has? I liked 7.8 much but if im not able to use it and it ruins my device i´ll stay on 7.5.

I flashed 7.8 on my 710 using NaviFirm and downloader.exe and last night I got the exact same problem
The background of the homescreen covered all the tiles, all tiles were under the background, then some tiles appeared but most were still gone
Rebooted the phone and everything is fine again
It must be a 7.8 bug, not the method we update them
quick and easy

OTA Amber for EURO DEV ROMS

Hi,
Does anyone have any info or idea if the AMBER update will be available OTA for L920s with the DEV ROM? I don't see that entry in the update schedule page from Nokia. I just chatted with them and they said they have nothing scheduled at the moment, and suggested instead to go back to my ROGERS ROM (not even in my wildest dreams!).
I know I can flash it, but I don't want to go through the pain of doing everything again, including re-setting all my apps et al. If the OTA update comes out in a couple of weeks or so, I don't mind waiting, but I don't want to wait and then realise in a couple of months that it is not coming out and have to flash it anyhow.
Any news? Do we have to start making some noise on Nokia's forums and social media?
Thanks.

In case anyone else is wondering, I started getting the update OTA last week. I wasn't expecting it so my connection was very slow and I just soft reset it... Apparently, the download got somehow messed up upon resuming. To make a long story short, after it was installed, the screen lock didn't work properly: I could only unlock my phone right after it turned on; after that, it would not respond at all, so I had to soft-reset every time I wanted to unlock the screen -the other option being deactivating the screen lock altogether, but that doesn't look very promising, especially for battery consumption and pocket dials.
As it turns out, I ended up flashing the firmware, which is ironic because I could have done it a while ago when it came out, but didn't want to go through all the hassle.
My only problem now is that some apps that should work, like Nokia Pro Camera, do not allow me to install them. My firmware does say it is the latest version, and it also identifies the Lumia Amber in Details, but the app is not available.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

[Q] I didn't consent to these upgrades. Is my phone screwed?

There was some OTA update that Verizon pushed out, and I've had pop ups on my phone for over a week now trying to trick me into updating it. I had it rooted so I avoided them until I could find time to look up the status of upgrading without root.
Now just a few minutes ago, I tried to open and app and the System Update pop-up appeared, right underneath my finger as I tapped on the screen, conveniently hitting the "Install Now" button. The phone immediately shut off, and then installed updates on boot. I tried to stop it but there was not anything I could do. After it got done updating, I went into BootStrap and started doing a system backup, which is progressing at a snail's pace. But I dont think I have any old backups, if I do it would be from right after I rooted it.
Any suggestions for what to do next? I have to go to class in a few minutes lasting until late tonight, wont even have time to screw with this thing for a couple more days. Right now I can't even use it because of Bootstrap going so slow. I was lucky I even had enough SD card space left to save a backup to.
Really pissed off with Verizon & Samsung (?) right now, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This will allow you to root it again, if you want.
Or just downgrade back to NC5.
