Simple fix find out your default gateway for me?
If your default gateway is 192.168.1.1 use these settings..
IP address: 192.168.1.X (X enter any number from 2-255, My opinion I would enter a number in the 20's. It should look like this 192.168.1.20)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS 1: 192.168.1.1
DNS 2: 0.0.0.0 (Dont change this you will be getting your DNS servers from your router)
Thats it! Hit the thanks button if that helped!
If your default gateway is something different let me know and I will update this post. I am hoping you have a router!?

[Q]samsung wave android wifi help

hi all
i flashed android to samsung wave s8500 seccessful but now i have the problem with the wifi
step 7:
Step 7:
How to Start-up Wi-Fi
1) Go to settings WI-Fi settings press volume up key, go to advanced then tick Static IP and enter the details as above.
IP Address: When you connect to your Wi-Fi router to assign you an IP so you need to get into your router and see what kind of an IP router has assigned you an IP and here you enter there.
Gateway (Default Gateway): You'll find in Windows when you give information about the connection.
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS1: You'll find in Windows when you give information about the connection.
DNS2: left blank
2) THEN we put down the Add access point to enter the SSID name of the Wi-Fi for which you want to join.
3) Turn off and turn on the Wi-Fi and connect to Wi-Fi as you're asked to enter the SSID.
SO MY question is where i gate the gateway; dns1 ssID or something else
have any one a video tutorial about the wifi
pls help thanks

Static IP address won't work with ICS leak?

So, my WiFi network is set up for static IP addresses, and with the ICS leak, the WiFi won't transmit any data when I set my network up. It connects just fine but won't transmit any data.
At first I thought it was my attempt at making an ICS ROM (based off of the PG86IMG.zip/RUU) so I tried other people's with the same result. DHCP works fine though.
Can someone test Static IP addresses with their phone on this ICS leak?
It does work you will need to use 24 for network prefix if you are a class C (why they didn't stick with standard subnet mask 255.255.255.0 I dont know...) and you will need to use your local DNS servers.. I was able to connect to my local network and using the IP address see the routers just fine...I had to go back and change the default DNS used, to my local router's to see the internet and all was good....
It works exactly like it should on my wpa2 24bit subnet.
That's strange, because I had someone else confirm it didn't work either.
I am using 24 for the network prefix.
My network is set up like this:
ip 192.168.1.101
gateway 192.168.1.35
prefix 255.255.255.0/24
dns 208.67.222.222
dns2 208.67.220.220
wpa2
It connects but doesn't transmit data. This setup works on my TouchPad with CM9 alpha just fine, but on the phone it's a no go.
I wonder if it's a router setting I need to change. I use a DLink DIR655.
Any ideas?

Can't even ping from it?
Mine is connecting through a 1131AG Cisco wap here at work. At home I use a DDWRT based router.
:edit:
prefix 255.255.255.0/24
Just put 24 in prefix area.

Yeah, I have just 24 in there. I have no idea why i wrote that instead lol
I have it exactly how it is on my TouchPad (which works) and it's a no go :\
I have the same behavior! I have 4 SGS2 with OFFICIAL 4.0.3 release. 3 of them are OK, the fourth I had to force a static 192.168.0.x/24 address. And I have 5 other wireless devices (laptops and net tops) connected and working!!!
Nett tools app shows me unbelievable results like wrong routes and 0.0.0.0 gateway!
Oh, my God, what a BUG!
I guess it's should be in Q&A ?

Most definitely not. This is a development issue because it has to do with leaked software. no one in Q&A will bother to look, or care.

I was gonna say...I refuse to use anything that's not DD-WRT compatible on my home network. You just never know what kind of silly settings will be present in OEM router firmware.

Hi!
My friend just now had the exact same problem as you.
He updated his Xperia Active to ICS today and lost WiFi settings.
When I input the same router's settings as they were on GB they refused to work --> WiFi router connected, but internet, google play, apps,... didn't work.
Problem was, because I had static IP settings and I didn't input ALL fields in one stroke in advanced menu.
After I deleted the initial WiFi connection from his list, I used this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577877
My config is:
IP: 192.168.1.21
gateway: 192.168.1.1
network prefix length: 24
DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
DNS 2: 4.4.4.4
I left "4.4.4.4" because it took me a while to configure everything and my friend was in a hurry. Everything works because it relies on working first DNS: "8.8.8.8" (Google's DNS).
Right numbers for DNS 2 are either "192.168.1.1" (Router's IP) or "8.8.4.4" (Google's backup DNS).
I didn't know I had to input ALL fields in one stroke!
What router you have? S. Ip works for me on my dlink dir655
Sent from my EVO 3D Sprint/Virgin Mobile Hybrid.
Reset modem and u should then be good to go

wifi DNS ip???

when ever i give th ip in the wifi network the sgs2 automatically save the ::1 ip in dns 1 and there is no internet please help me to solve this problem
Sorry, neither do I understand the title nor what your exact problem is
What do you mean by "i give the ip in the wifi network"? Are you trying to give your phone a fix IP address?
What do you mean by "sgs2 automatically save the ::1 ip in dns 1"? Do you mean the property for DNS1 is set to "::1"?
Normally, when using Wifi, you're using DHCP, and the DNS server is provided by the DHCP server.
So you should check the settings on your wifi access point.
I use the Google DNS (primary 8.8.8.8, secondary 8.8.4.4) and adjusted my access point to use that so that all of my DHCP clients also use it.

[Q] Android unable to connect to my Wi-Fi network - Windows can

I am in university halls of residence. I have setup a Wi-Fi hotspot in my room using a generic router by connecting from the ethernet out port in the wall to a ethernet LAN port and disabling DHCP on the router.
This works perfectly for my Windows 7 laptop. It connects to the router and then to the uni internet without issues. However, although my Samsung Galaxy S3 (International i9300) can detect the network, if I just try to connect to the network as I would any other it gets stuck when obtaining an IP address. After messing around with it for a bit i found that I could get the phone to connect by going into the advanced settings and choosing "static" instead of "DCHP". I don't know what I was really meant to enter for IP Address, gateway, subnet, DNS 1 and DNS 2.
The router has the IP of 192.168.1.1 when i connect it directly to my laptop via ethernet so I tried that as the gateway, I set the IP address to something like 192.168.1.14 (So that it was similar but different), I set the subnet to 255.255.255.0 and the DNS servers I used google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). This got me connected to the router but there doesn't appear to be any internet connection.
I therefore thought that I had entered wrong information for the network (I was only guessing after all). Therefore I went into ipconfig in Windows and copied the default gateway and DNS servers and used a similar IP address (Last number different). I had the same issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I only want Wi-Fi in my room for mobile.

Trying to understand the source of WiFi DNS

All,
I am aware of the various apps for changing DNS server settings - that is not the question. I would like someone to explain how the default values are being set.
My home wireless access point supports three SSIDs and I have SSID_1 bridged to my router. Within the router, I have defined 1.1.1.1 and 208.67.222.222 as my DNS servers. When my phone (Pixe3 3XL) is connected to SSID_1, however, it shows the DNS servers as being 8.8.8.8 and 64.6.64.6. (FYI - I just rebooted my router in case that might have an impact, but ti didn't.)
However, when my phone connects to SSID_2, which is not bridged to the router, the DNS shows up as 10.255.224.1, which is the gateway address.
Oddly, my desktop PC, which gets it IP via DHCP (the address is reserved) and was configured for automatic CNS, also showed the DNS servers as being 8.8.8.8 and 64.6.64.6.
I logged into my cable modem, but there are no user adjustable settings there.
So, from whence come these DNS IP addresses?
