New Vodafone 32GB S3 after Odin stock flash won't let me change CSC - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My last one got stolen (long story), and annoyingly this new one won't let me change CSC even after flashing with Odin. When I go to the change CSC option, only one I'm given in the list is VOD. BTU and the others aren't even there to choose from.
Can anyone help me out?

On a side note, it also won't connect to Kies any more either...

I just downloaded the FW in the OP of this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610

Did you try to change it with the secret code?
Wannam lite download page has the code, you put IMEI in with other stuff

Yea, tried that, still no luck. Anyway, I solved the problem now. I just downloaded the FW prior to the link in the OP above, and that had the BTU options. After that I just upgraded to the latest FW using Kies.

[Q] Original CSC Code

Does anybody know how to find the original CSC code? I have updated my firmware several times and I don't have the original CSC Code.
Now when I connect to KIES It says "This version of the device can not be updated".
Help
Type *#272*(IMEI)# and you will see the CSC list.Select and done.By doing this it will reboot via (if i remember correctly)factory reset so may be a good idea to back-up but it should warn you first that it will fact/reset so if you want you can cancel and back-up if you havnt already.
EDIT:also depending on what firmware you put on your phone and depending on what your product code also is Kies might not recognize your firmware either.

Thanks for your opinion. There are several CSC Codes and I don't know what code to select. Because I don't know what my original CSC Code was.

Depending on the firmware it may or may not be in there but for singapore see if there is an OLB in there. Some multi CSC packages dont always have what you want. For example most here in XDA dont have FOP for Spain so Im left using KOR instead which is Korea. It works atleast. If its not there you could try OZS for HongKong

If Sri Lanka comes under India in the CSC region then it will be ODD It might not but i cant find it at the moment.

it appears that XDA and samfirmware have conflicting CSCs for india.Samfirmware may 11 for India have ODD and XDA have INU.
Currently I have installed XEU (I think UK). So will this be problem? Actually I don't have sound idea about CSC?

The CSC is just location specific apn settings and maybe bundles apps. Nothing hugely important.
If you are missing your apn settings did net or mms you can just enter them manually or change CSC.

In most cases i wont make any difference. As I said earlier sometimes here in Spain Im forced to use KOR which is Korea and it works fine.If you have an original firmware flashed for your region it should be in there but I find that in my case when I flash the XDA firmwares they usually are missing my CSC although they can be flashed seperatly. If you have a KOR then give it a try to as its probably a better region choice.if it works here in Spain it should be good for Singapore.
Hi,
You can get the Original CSC Code of the phone by using my app: Phone INFO ★Samsung★

Right now I have a S3 (TMobile UK)

How to flash OTA flash files downloaded from samfirmware?

Hi all
How should I flash the OTA flash files downloaded from Samfirmware?? Should I use ADB?? If yes, can anyone tell me the commands??
I normally flash phones with SPT/RIFF box, so I am a bit rusty in ADB
Kind regards
I'd say use Odin. But just to be sure, Check the stickies in the general forum. Use the search if not sure.

Hi!
Just use odin to flash the firmware.. i'm pretty sure most of the fw would just be on PDA in odin.

If you are talking about OTA and not the full firmware..it has to be flashed in stock recovery...first make sure you have the correct firmware version on your phone..the firmware version required will be given alongside the OTA on samfirmware..now move the OTA to your sdcard..reboot into stock recovery..use vol up+power+home buttons..then choose install update from there..
I need to do this. I'll do a Titanium Backup before, but should I expect all my content, apps, preferences and all that to be intact after the procedure (presuming everything goes the way it should)?
Edit: Also, why can't I see an option for United States in the drop-down menu when narrowing down my device? Should I use some other country?

And do you know what this ota files are used for? I've an S5830 from Vodafone(Spain) and I want to get it back to the original firm (you know, operator apps and some more innecesary ****), but I'm unable to find one on the internet.
Looking at www.samfirmware.com, the only thing I've seen about my device and Vodafone is the OTA file i'm talking about, but I'm not pretty sure if flashing it will let my phone in factory defaults.
I need to flash a Vodafone rom because I wanna send it to the technical support.

Find a Vodafone Spain Rom, it should be over 200mb, then download Odin for your galaxy ace, it should be in the ace forum. Then flash it. Check the link below.

This is a wrongly posted question ..
You will not get OTA updates .
Kies requires codes on the phone/ firmware to actually match server firmware .
It says Kor as you either have Korean firmware or Korean CSC .
Change your CSC .
BASICS .

Sorry mate, this is my first Sammy and I am lost.. I thought it was the CSC but everything I have read suggests that I have to root the phone to change the CSC which I don't want to and keep it stock.
Is there anyway to change the CSC without root?
Appreciate your help, please advise (in the meantime I am going through the Basics link you shared)
cheers

Half right, flash any ROM in Odin before ELLA then you can change the CSC without root. In ELLA and above Samsung set it so you need root to change the CSC.

I flashed the firmware. PDA: I9300XXELL6 CSC: I9300OXFELL1
However the CSC from the recovery menu remained ORO, from the original firmware and Kies told me that it can not provide updates for this firmware. I used "Samsung Galaxy S / S2 / S3 CSC" from the market to change it to COA, as this is the CSC from the carrier the firmware is and now Kies tells me that i have the latest firmware and i can receive OTA updates. The program said it needs root but it worked without the phone to be rooted. Also CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD is NONE and it says official. Try to change the CSC to the one the firmware was taken from.
!!!Keep in mind that after you change the CSC the phone will make a full wipe!!!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Ok so I used the CF Auto root and then I was able to change the CSC without any problem...
Now as I was going to unroot it by flashing it with the firmware again I noticed that the Device Status was showing as "Normal" instead of "Modified".. I checked the counter and that was showing No aswell..
Any idea? As the phone is rooted

change csc from UAE to MXO

Hi all
I have some doubts about changing the csc, I've been looking on the web and here but still have massive doubts
I have a n950F/DS with OXM csc, currently pointing to UAE, cannot make samsung pay work, my cards are mexican.
so far I've understood this about the process
1.- downloaded odin and the bellow firmware from sammobile
Product code MXO
PDA N950FXXS3CRF1
CSC N950FUWB3CRE3
2.- Install MXO firmware by adding all four files, using csc file instead of home_csc
3,- let it boot and set up device, with out sim
4.- flash OXM firmware, all 4 files
5.- let it boot up with sim inserted and set it up.
I think those are the steps to make samsung pay work for my region but still not sure
Please let me know if I'm wrong, I really want to use the full potential of this phone.
Do you think is better to stay with MXO insteam or OXM?
thanks
I've changed mine twice now, once to o2 firmware and then to three firmware both for the UK on a 950f without any bother I flashed all 4 each time and used the home csc and all works well here

thanks for replying,
let me see if I understand, I need to flash the whole 4 files so I can change csc? when to use home csc?
could you help me with the steps?
thanks!
I downloaded the firmware I wanted from updato and used Odin to flash each of the 4 files so I would have a phone as if I'd bought it from 3 network so I could use wifi calling and 4g calling
This is what I have now after changing to it

home_csc file, what does it do? is that the main one to force the csc to change? or do I always have to use csc_ file only?
