Device won't power up after kernel flash - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

MUIE DUTZU!
Had a SGS2 I9100-G, Gingerbread 2.3.5, XXKI4.
1)Tried to flash ICS RR, rebooted, stuck at SAMSUNG LOGO + Exclamation mark;
2)Tried to flash STOCK ROM, got NAND error in Odin, PC - ! - Phone logo shows up;
3)Flashed the GINGERBREAD VERSION kernel from [GUIDE] Fix an unflashable or soft bricked GSII (I9100G/M/P/T VERSION INCLUDED!), rebooted, now the SAMSUNG LOGO + Exclamation mark shows up again;
4)Tried to flash Lightning ROM, Odin failed after writing a while, PC - ! - Phone logo shows up again;
5)Did step 3 again;
6)Tried to flash the Recovery Package/ROM from [GUIDE] Fix an unflashable or soft bricked GSII (I9100G/M/P/T VERSION INCLUDED!) without .PIT and without Re-Partition (steps 1-4), got NAND error;
7)Did step 3 again, JAM;
-----------------------
Now my device cannot be powered on by any combination of buttons, except when I connect it to a power source(PC, AC). After I plug the device, the SAMSUNG LOGO + Exclamation mark shows without any push of button and I cannot acces DOWNLOAD MODE anymore.
Tried evey combination possible: download mode combination before the device gets plugged in, after, long pressing, short pressing ... and nothing.
How can I fix this?
Thank you.
Later: I've made myself a jig. I'll post a photo with it later when I'll manage to get this done.
Later2: **** IT! The jig worked just fine, entered download mode a couple of times. Noticed the counter was still the same, but I didn't care as long as I had could access the download mode. Now the jig is useless ... the download mode no longer shows up. The solding is fine, but I don't see any reason for the jig to stop working. Any ideas?

MUIE DUTZU!
Bump!
I solved the problem minutes ago. Here's what happened:
1)I was getting the NAND error because the KIES service was still running, althou the processes were killed;
2)The USB cable I was using wasn't working as expected, althou the drivers were installed correctly;
3)The ROM I was trying to flash isn't compatible with 9100G, that's why I had bricked it;
4)When I was unable to access download mode, I've made myself a JIT and succeded to flash a new kernel, but suddenly it stopped working; the JIT was no longer able to enter the download mode ... because the device's battery was empty;
5)Finally I flashed a STOCK GINGERBREAD ROM through PDA and everything went good.
Thanks ... for the views.
Hope this helps someone else.

[Q] Stubborn soft brick (Download mode, no recovery mode)

Hello,
I've been having a nightmare with my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. The phone had been giving me grief for a few months, the occasional freeze which would be fixed by a battery pull, ever since upgrading to an official ICS rom. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact ROM.
A week ago the phone froze, I pulled the battery and hit a bootloop when I tried to restart. I booted into recovery mode and attempted to wipe data. The phone attempted to wipe the data but froze. I left it for a couple of hours with no progress so I pulled the battery. The phone is now still in the same bootloop but cannot enter recovery mode. It can however enter download mode through both the 3 button technique and using a USB jig. My PC only recognises the phone in download mode and fortunately ODIN also recognises the phone. I have tried flashing various stock firmware and kernels and each time ODIN claims the flash was successful, reboots the phone and hits the same bootloop as before. I have also tried flashing CWM recovery to try and boot into that recovery mode but again this is successful but seems to make no difference.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks for your time.

Hmm ... for bootloop issues, this is the correct guide => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
But this requires recovery mode to work.
And you really pressed Volume UP + Home + Power keys, and hold them for about 15 seconds/until recovery menu appears - regardless of any other boot logo or animation which might be displayed inbetween?!

Definitely. Booting with Volume UP + Home + Power keys, I am greeted with my usual bootloop Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 boot screen, after around 10 seconds the screen goes black and then the bootloop screen comes back on.
Any other suggestions?
Same problem
Hi,
I have the same problem. I would be interested in a solution for this as well. I've already tried reflashing the ROM, kernel and bootloader, together with repartitioning. Still can't get into recovery mode.

Tudor

Hi,
What I finally managed to do is connect to ADB and do a wipe from there. Connecting to ADB in download mode sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, depends on how lucky you are. Try it a couple of times. Afterwards I was able to re-flash and it started. For me, the problem was also a bit deeper; my USB port was shortcircuiting or something. I just took a toothpick and pushed the USB pin a bit (found the idea online) and haven't had any problems since then.
Cheers,
Tudor

[Q] YP-G70 2.2.2 stuck in boot loop

Hello there,
I was trying to flash Rj's Custom Kernel to my Glaaxy Player 5 which I had just rooted using SuperOneClick.
I went into download mode (Power+Volume-down+Back button) on my phone, opened up Odin and selected the tar file I downloaded as a PDA, Only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time were checked, nothing else was changed.
Clicked Start and the process appeared to go Successfully in Odin, when the phone was reset the Samsung Logo appeared for longer than usual, and my computer (which was still connected via USB) complained that the USB device was not recognised, then eventually the phone rebooted to the Samsung Logo and the process repeats itself ad infinitum.
The only thing I can do is get the phone back into Download Mode, and flash another rom, but I don't know what to try, can anyone please help me get my phone back to working order?
Cheers,
Blaiz0r.

Does your player have a mechanical home button because if it has a home button that is a light capacative and also if its capacitive you need entropeys kernel search on google

[Q] Bricked Android need assistance

I rooted my phone successfully, tweaked a couple roms successfully as well. The last rom I tweaked was I think something to do with init.d. After I tweaked the rom, I restarted my phone and bam... that $H1T stood stuck at the boot animation loop a.k.a BRICKED.
I downloaded odin and some tars, but before that I deleted partition erased in recovery mode holding up and power button. I went to download mode using down and power button. I failed 9 times using odin, and then eventually I got the box screen to display "PASS" with a green color. I restarted the phone and it had a different model lol. However my phone still did not get back to the way its suppose to start up. I tried using new files for ODIN, and everything seemed about right until it said: Wait about 2 minutes, it was the last step I think and I was actually waiting 15 minutes, so I got anxious and unplugged it and restarted my phone and it shows a different model instead of SPH-D710 it shows GT-19100 and goes straight into recovery mode.
All I can do is scroll up and down using volume buttons but I cant hit the (ok button) which is the (power button) to attempt the action I want. I have a boost mobile samsung galaxy S2. Also Odin, Kies and my Computer does not recognize my phone anymore through usb. I tried usb samsung drivers update, and I even tried a bunch of different versions of ODIN including a different computer. My downloads folder is literally packed with a whole bunch of tool aid kits for my phone lol. OH and by the way before I used odin I did end the process of Kies in the task manager so yup. I do not know what else to do, I tried different computers I think I am pretty much PHUCKED over now. Unless someone has another solution.
I do not understand why I cant enter nothing in recovery mode all of sudden, I can only move up or down. I can only go into either recovery mode or download mode. In recovery mode it says:
Deleting Cryption Meta Data
-- Copying media files...
Successfully copied meida files.
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Updating application...
Successfully updated application.
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Successfully applied multi-CSC.
If it shows I9100 on the boot screen instead of SPH-D710 you've obviously used firmware for the I9100 on your device, and there's a fair possibility you'll be making a trip to a service centre.
Find stock SPH-D710 firmware, flash that with Odin. Where ? No idea, like most people here know almost nothing about this model; try the usual haunts - Samfirmware, AndroidFirmwares.Net, Samsung-updates.com, Google search),.

[Q] Samsung recovery problem ( Help fast :s )

Hi. I'm new to here so please i appreciate any help you can give .
So the story is... I own a samsung galaxy gio S5660 (i have Android 2.2.1 ) and i wanted to flash a custom rom on it. Well i forgot that i had to root it, so i just flashed the CWM recovery on it and now i cant get into the recovery, the samsung logo just stays. The phone works, it boots up but only not in the recovery mode :s. Also, i cant root from the pc either because i get unknown device, i installed kies, reinstalled the drivers... I get the error : Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). It charges via usb but doesnt connect as storage or something like that :/ i cant figure out what to do. The root programs dont recognize/find the device so am i screwed or what :s. I know i was stupid that i didnt think about the root. I've done the rooting on a tablet many times so i dont know why i forgot to do it :s
Thank you for reading. Hope i get an answer
BUMP BUMP-
I did a factory reset with the code from the phone and now its stuck on the samsung logo :s. It enters download mode and fastboot but the most important problem is that the pc doesnt recognize the device so i cant use odin or any similar program to flash a new recovery on it :s. Is there anything i could do?
I tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times.
I tried on 2 laptops and 1 desktop but it's all the same :S.
BUMP.
Help please
BUMP T_T
jaja
Prepare ODIN with the firmware you want to flash (in my case was Gingerbread 2.3.4) and get it ready to go.
-
Remove battery, wait for a bit. Insert battery again.
-
Flash a recovery with your specific filesystem (EXT4 or RFS)-(If you have EXT4, download ext4 only, don't get ext4+rfs)
-
Enter recovery & Wipe | Format:
System
Data
Cache
Dalvik Cache
Have ODIN ready. Connect phone to PC.
-
Reboot to Download Mode
Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time.
-
At this point Odin should have detected your Galaxy Gio (Yellow rectangle should appear).
-
Insert the Stock Rom or Custom Rom.
-
Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.
-
Reboot and wait
Method 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310
Method 3: using usb jig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=METM3teG5rI
It's not my fault if you hard brick your phone using this methods.
Thanks for answering, but i cant enter recovery as i mentioned early and also odin doesnt detect my phone in download mode :s. When the samsung logo just stays i plug also the usb in then the pc says it cannot recognize the device and its listed as unknown which i before also mentioned. When i attempt to enter recovery it just also stays at the samsung logo and isnt entering it :s..
Bumpbumppp
Guys i still dont got the answer :c

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S III i9300 Boot Loop No Recovery

Hello,
Some threads with similar issues are already around, but I didn't find one with the same problem as me.
What I was doing when the issue happened:
I was trying to install cyanogenmod from the isntaller method (apk isntalled on the phone, application running on windows that installs it automatically). At certain point, it rebooted the device and the cyanogenmod logo was on the screen. After a while, the program gave an error "'We couldn't talk to your phone' - Samsung devices ONLY", which is described in their wiki. So the pc lost connection to the phone.
What I did:
1 - Since I had installed the clockwork recovery and tested it before, I thought "hey, no problem. I'll hust recover this S*it". So I disconnected the SIII from the PC and tried to enter recovery mode pressing "volume ip + home + power". While I have these pressed, the phone in in an infinite loop on the initial screen showing the brand and model. When I release them, it goes straight to the cyanogenmod blue creepy robot just there staring.
2 - Since that didn't work out since I now don't have a recovery mode and I don't have any functioning rom either, I found several tutorials for using Odin and reflashing and or repartitioning. PROBLEM: Odin seems to recognize the phone (com port), I click on the option and... FAIL!
2.1 - What I have tried: Different Odin versions (1.83 and 3.09), stock drivers from Kies, Zadig drivers.
So. There you go. I pretty much exhausted everything I could get from my head and interpret from google. So, No recovery, no ROM, fail at odin.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Remove kies from the pc reinstall drivers and flash a cwm recovery. From there flash a custom rom in recovery from ext sd. Odin 3.04 is good. I would keep trying to get into recovery though. Do you have that red mark in the corner on Sammy splash screen?
