5 horizontal icons on home screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have been using Ollo for some time and really like the 5 horizontal icons on home screen and app drawer. Now want to try an alternative rom but would like this feature. I know I can use TW UX for the app drawer but what about the home screen?
Tried asking on the Ollo forum but guess the Dev didn't want to share how he did it, which is fair enough.
Could it be dpi related?
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

changing dpi might work yes.
in nova launcher you can choose the ammount of rows and kolomns of your homescreens and dock. But not for app drawer, but changing dpi of the launcher might work

Thanks for the input I should have also said I would prefer to stay with TW

Question regarding desktop visualizer

I want to change my messaging and contacts icons on the touchwiz launcher but can't figure out how. The only option it gives me is to replace them with another app. I can make new icons to place on my screens but not on the tw row.

You need Launcher Pro or some other home screen alternative to change those.
I have been using Launcher Pro for a while now and wanted a change for a while. Thanks though.

ADW Ex is 3.1 ready. I still like the new honeycomb launcher for now though myself.

good to know that it works on 3.1. I would guess the home replacement app is not ready for 3.1 yet.
launch pro was mentioned somewhere in the forum ...another home app ...

using Launcher Pro and it works great, but not optimized for tablet yet.
I'm currently using ADW Launcher EX. I've gotten better performance from it than the stock launcher. Can't wait for the next release as it should have better integration with Honeycomb.
i never used launch pro , why i have an impression that the app allows you to customerize widget rather than being a home app ..

It lets you adjust the widget size if you purchase the full version, but it's mainly meant as a replacement home.
I use ADW EX after trying Launcher Pro which had a number of FC's. Adw flies on my GT but LP's widgets look great on the big screen. Just a bit of advice if you use a custom launcher is set the orientation to portrait or landscape and set it the way you want. The screens don't transition well if you use large widgets which I do.

I use LauncherPro primarily because of its great looking widgets and widget resizing. Honeycomb's resizing features only work with certain widgets specifically designed to support it. LauncherPro will resize any widget.
The only thing I don't like about LauncherPro is its app drawer, but for that, I have a shortcut to an activity that points to the native home screen. I haven't been able to locate the specific command to automatically launch its app drawer, but just getting to the home screen is a start. In theory, you could launch any replacement home screen's app drawer.

Home launcher without a dock

Hey guys. I'm looking for a launcher that allows you to use it completly full screen without a dck. Ive tried launcher pro and go launcher so far I haven't seen an option in any of them to remove dock so hoping one of you can help me.

What he said. I'm using a combination of ADW Launcher EX and CircleLauncher
Your main screen will look like this:
The icons you see on the top left and bottom right are CircleLauncher. When i tap them they open up the predefined app selection of my choosing. You have the choice of a circle, horizontal or vertical style.
Another neat thing on the ADW Launcher EX is that you can use the swipe up and down gesture to preform actions. For example swipe down opens my Notifications Bar and swipe up opens my Apps Drawer.
Hope you find what you need.
Here's mine ADW

I like Adw. It's simple clean and fast. Not sure if I will upgrade to the paid version since a lot of reviews are have force close issues. Are you getting any?

Personally i have never had a force close on my 3D. On my 4G I did have a couple force closes but it didn't bother me as much. Try out the free version for a couple days to get the feel of it. If you feel generous afterwards you can "donate" to the owner instead of "buying" it, that's how I looked at it. Good luck!

The same thing can be accomplished with Launcher Pro as well.
+1 for ADW. I hide the notification bar and get rid of the launcher. Here is a link to my setup. I've made some changes lately but you can get the general idea. Swipe down opens the notifications and swipe up opens the app drawer...

Any of you tried wave launcher? I love that... Another great option if you ditch the dock. And you can use it from anywhere from any app
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yeah, ADW does exactly what you're looking for, here's another image to add to the pile on this thread =p
What my home screen looks like (click for full size):
You can also set an optional 'hidden' dock that comes up on a specified gesture (for example, if I flick upwards I get my appdrawer, phone and ADW settings).
Tried wave launcher. Wasn't feeling it. Settled on circle launcher. Advanced settings go for deep customization.
With auncher pro i could never find out how to hide dock. Anyways to much work if they can't just add a simple setting to hide it. Shame cause I want it for the gmail widget plus glass sense glass theme.
Only bad think about Adw is the app drawer lags when opening and really bad scrolling. Not much of an issue once I have my screens setup. Never need to use it.

+1 currently using that. I know launcher pro does too, but I think you have to have the paid version to actually resize widgets.
GoLauncher EX allows resizing of Widgets. No need to pay anything; free app.

I like this launcher as well only gripe about it is i can't move widget to very top of screen they always leave a gap from the top of screen is there a way to fix that?
Have you tried re-sizing the grid size of the screen in the GoLauncher settings menu?
This may or may not work, and even if it works in portrait, it might frig up the layout when you rotate to landscape, but worth looking into.
-Ryan
most widgets are designed for a 4*x screen not a 5*x that is why they arnt filling the screen. as most have said you need a custom launcher to solve this.
Im using ADW and it lets me make the widgets what ever size i want...it also allows me to have 6 x 7 home screen instead of a 5x5....much better use of space!

Home indicator dots

Is there anyway of disabling the dots that indicate the homepage on touchwiz?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Not that I;m aware of. I guess you want to utilise the space its taking up. You can always switch to another launcher like Apex or Nova. Very customisable.
Or try the touchwiz mods in Themes & Apps forum.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Try Go Launcher Ex - you can change the rows/columns to cater for more screen space.
Highly customisable and I haven't noticed any screen lag.
