Cant't root my RAZR - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi,
I received my new GSM RAZR today.
It has Android 2.3.6 and 651.167.21.XT910.Retail.en.EU on it.
When trying to root my phone via motofail, it won't work.
This is what I get:

My guess is that you don't have the most current drivers or your phone isnt in "Charge Only" mode.

Ok, something weird is going on.
I can't extract the "motofail" file.
I've tried it many times with different archives and on different machines.
Could someone upload that file unzipped?

I personally used the CASUAL motofail by Adam worked on 1st try.
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app

Alright, now it worked.
My AV deleted the file instantly, because it thought it's a Trojan. :cyclops:
/EDIT:
OK, now I've done the following:
Flash 4.0.4 stock via RSD (worked)
Root again (worked)
installed Bootmenu (worked)
tried to install this ROM
(full wipe, installed zip, full wipe, installed gapps, full wipe)
and now I'm stuck in the CM boot animation
Any suggestions?

Try with full wipe, install zip, gapps and reboot, also it takes some time to the phone to start.

Ok, now I've tried full wipe, install zip, install gapps, reboot.
I'm in bootloop again (for 15 minutes now).
EDIT: Now it's 30 minutes :/

If you have BootMenu Manager installed, why not have your phone dual boot. On he Primary Partition stick with stock ICS, then on the second stick a CFW - I'm using Epsilon v4 also I tried Artic. But obviously you'll have to get your primary partition up and running first. Guess the easiest option is to go back to stock. With this method your 2nd partition is your play area of different roms, and you should always have a working phone. Just search for the dual boot link in XDA if you wanna go for this method.

Now it worked. It was my fault, I forgot to convert the ROM.
Anyway, thanks for your help :good:

Btw hello peoples ^^
Is USB debugging on? Try running as administrator. Try a different USB port and cable.
torpedo root is my favorite, not a one click but very easy to do
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
I read about someone having an issue with a one click root utility on the photon that was resolved by them putting the phone into charge only.
Could be user error or a one off scenario, but you could test it in 20 seconds. Good luck.
I had the same problem. Seems like the issue was OCR v3 use v2 and it should work like a charm. I would add a link to v2 for convenience but I don't have enough posts here to link to outside sites. You can find it on the page where you downloaded v3 from. Just above it. I hope this solves your problem too.
I didn't try v3 as the post says v3 has a bug that is being worked on. I rooted a few days ago using v2.
Does anyone know if I have to use the SBf 198_7 before I can flash the rocko 2.3 coming from stock 198_6?
Bump! Can I just flash rocko using bootstrap? Over my stock 198_6

[Q] Can't root Rogers Razr.

I'm attempting to root my Rogers Razr XT190 running GB 2.3.6 so that I can install the ICS leak. I've tried two different root processes. I first tried the one that is recommended to root the phone to install ICS - DroidRazrRoot404. I have also tried the root process from DooMLoRD. Neither root process works. Both essentially indicate that the filesystem is read only. I've searched the forum but can't find anything specific about this issue.
I have installed the recommended drivers, enabled USB debugging and tried both charge only and "Windows" USB modes. No luck no matter what I do.
A transcript of the 404 root process is shown below.
Any assistance or pointers to a helpful thread would be greatly appreciated.

try "all in one" tool in dev form
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515720
Judging by the error you have an incompatible version.Goto Settings, About Tablet, Version. ICS 4.0.3 is not currently rootable via this method (pre-root only ^^^). 3.2 is too old you need 3.2.1 with kernel lower than kernel10 most of the time. If you are 3.2 then find link for 3.2.1 in my signature link and flash in recovery.
Good luck

ICS-OK means you can preroot ICS then install.
You need 3.2.1 with a kernel lower than 10.
3.2 is too old and 4.0.3 is too new. The exploit used to gain root access has been patched.
You will have to wait just like me and lots of others.

[Q] Cannot get RW access to /system on Huawei Y200 AKA U8655-1

Edit: Thought I would add, I have searched far and wide for an answer, using multiple different keywords and come up empty each time...
Hello everyone,
A few days ago I got my hands on a second hand U8655-1 (Huawei Ascend Y200) and have been trying to root it to no avail.
This phone is running Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, and is completely stock, and reset to factory settings.
The symptoms I have been getting tells me that I am not able to write any data manually to the phone at all, unless it is copied from a PC the normal way by allowing the phone to pass the SD card over to the PC.
Root tools I have tried:
Y200Toolbox
GingerBreak 1.0, 1.1, 1.2.
rageagainstthecage (copying to the phone using adb push)
Motofail Exploit
SRSRoot One Click Root
SuperOneClick 1.5, 1.7, 2.3.3.0 (ZergRush) (psneuter isn't compatible)
Framaroot (about three different versions, can't remember which ones specifically, but I know one of them was the latest)
In each exploit attempt it is clear that nothing is able to get write ability to the phone.
All of these were done with the following:
Debugging Enabled
Fastboot unticked
In the case of GingerBreak/Framaroot having the USB cable both connected and disconnected
I also attempted to run the others with the phone booted normally and with it in recovery mode.
Here is the output from Motofail:
