Aria market - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how many Arias were sold and any estimates for how many may still be in use? Just wandering about what the market is for continuing the rom upgrade work for this phone.

I have a one x now but just flashed winsuks cm9 port Rom. I still play with it and will use as a back up phone but lately its my toddlers mp3 player/princess game device lol
Sent from my HTC One X

I still use it as my main phone. I flashed munjenis cm9 ROM which is working great for me. I just bought it two months before the Desire C came out, so I want to keep using it for at least one year. Maybe then something better comes up, who knows?
Sent from my Liberty using xda premium

I got it in the beginning of the year, so just like dansou901 I wanna keep it for a while. I love this phone and I hope it gets support for a little longer.
This is an awesome phone for my first Android!

You're right, it's awesome, but it is only Arm v6, so it won't be compatible to newer software...

I just like the small size and it's elegant design. I am also impressed with how the rom developers have been able to keep it current with ICS and now JB. And particularly how other developers have overcome the memory limitations with programs like S2E. Just what is the appeal of a 5" screen?
Sent from my Aria using xda app-developers app

I still have 2 Aria's, one with CM7 and the other with CM9. I love what I think is the prefect size of these phones. It's too bad HTC hasn't built another similar sized phone with more memory and processor power.

Is it bad if I trade vibrant for g2?

This is my final decision please tell me if im doing a right or wrong.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
No, look at specs vs vibrant
http://g2.t-mobile.com/g2-specs
The big issue i have hear regarding the g2 is its major hinge problem. But thats just what i heave read and hear, not from personal experience. Do so more research, head to a T-mobile store and check one out for yourself.
I have it is good
Hmmm ....
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I wouldn't do it personally. I hate physical keyboards. I'll take Swype and a smaller phone any day.
It comes down to what keyboard do you like and can you get 4G speeds. I can't where I am (they say we have H but i get the same speeds as all my friends with MyTouch 4's).
I think yea preferences
I will do it
For kb
Stock google
Stronger cpu
Love my vibrant but need a little junk in my trunk
Thanks guys especially tw and eugene and master

G2 doesn't have a [fully]stock android system
Who cares? If you want gaming and movies the vibrant wins hands down. Other than that g2 is better. Both are about equal but what i said above about games and movies

Also it comes down to preferences
Just like roms
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
As many have said. If you use your phone for games and music keep the vibrant. I have the g2 and the vibrant and imo the vibrant has its downsides as does the g2. The screen on the g2 looks fuzzy compared to the vibrant and the speaker sucks! What got me into getting the g2 was the keyboard the long lasting battery and the trackpad...If you have any questions ask me and ill answer them
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
the question is that do you want a keyboard??
so yeaaa if you need a keyboard then go with the g2 .there is no such reason trading your vibrant for a g2.
i had both, i say vibrant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874754
I have a g2, my brother a vibrent, and I say g2. My brother has sent his vibrent back 3 times so far. He has had it for 2 months. He also has bricked it many times (his doing I'm sure). I have yet to brick my g2, and I have swap many roms and kernals. His GPS is crap, along with his 3g. My g2 has everything his vibrent has and more. My g2 has 4g speeds, wifi hotspot( I even play mw2 on ps3 with no lag), a qwerty keypad, swype, 2.2 froyo, faster cpu, and a more true form of a google phone. I have my phone OC to 1.8MHz and my battery last all day with the help of setcpu. The Z hinge is not much of a problem, only if you lay on your back and use the keypad, but the way you hold the phone stops that problem. The g2 is able to do every thing the vibrent can and more but in the end its all up to you. Its your time and money, go to the store and take a look for your self.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Your cpu is not faster. Its more efficient. And dont act like the g2 is that much better. In fact if my vibrant had 4g like the next one id suffice to say the vibrant was plain better.
I do like the feel of the g2. Solid and if your getting robbed it can defend your life. Keyboard is nice.
The 4"screen on the vibrant really is better to type with. Swype is better than the physical kep pad.
And last but best of all the screen on the vibrant smashes the g2. Your talking two diffrent generations of screens.
Roms cancel any os disputes.
After the vibrant gets 2.2 official it will be more efficient. And its still plenty efficient.
The gps in the vibrant is trash. Some work. Some dont.
The vibrant 4g will be a better phone.

My phone has swype, I think an even better version. And we are not talking about the new vibrent. That's another phone.

I'm thinking about trading my Vibrant for a G2 today. Is there anything I should know before I do? Is it easy to flash? What good ROMS are available? Does T-Mobile charge extra for 4G?

Wondering

Droid x vs eris.. any thought among my fellows .. fellows is a funny word. I know about the thunder bolt.. btw.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App
Well I've played around with Droid x a lot rooted a buddies for him and install liberty rom Im pretty sure Droid x isn't supported by cm7 so if you like cm7 your out of luck. I'd rather have Druid x over Eris for the memory speed and ram. But I'd rather stick with HTC. I don't jnie what I'm going to do with more then 50mbs of ram extra when I get a upgrade in November haha. But luckily we have get devs to keep the Eris running smooth and kepping up with the times with 2.3
Sent from my ERIS using Tapatalk
Yeah. Love Eris Dev ppl. I'm running liberty now. And no cm7. But would like this raw power and cram it in an Eris problally the perfect phone ty for the feed back its a little disconcerting going to a new forum. Even after the 1.5 years with an Eris.

Droid Charge vs HTC Thunderbolt

Hi i have the chance to get rid of the tbolt and switch to the Droid charge while making $150 also, would you do it or stick with the Thunderbolt
Sent from my Infected HTC Thunderbolt using XDA App
Id say it depends if you're a ROM/Tweaking junkie or not. The Charge doesnt have near the Dev support that the Tbolt has. Its a fine phone though.
I'm on the same boat, mainly for the hdmi and battery life.. I'm not sure to make the swap or not

512 RAM....512 ROM....The Droid Charge will be a nice piece of machinery. I was initially going to get the "Charge" but stuck with my gut instinct. It pretty much is a personal preference. I find that a lot of Dev's are out there for the Thunderbolt (which finalized my decision). Go with your gut, it's going to be a solid phone either way.
For some reason the Dev's for Verizon carried phones never really flocked to the Samsung phones, its just the way it is.

+1
If you don't care about custom roms, the Charge might be better for you. Better battery, better screen (imo). But don't hold your breath waiting for updates from Samsung.
But remember SGS2 is coming soon. If it does LTE, I'll proly sell my TB and get one. You can bet SGS2 dev'ing won't languish like the Charge

Oh I'm buying the galaxy s 2 no matter what lol

The Thunderbolt has 768MB of RAM as opposed to the Charge with 384MB. According to several reviews the Charge has problems with flash heavy sites while the Thunderbolt handles them just fine due to the extra RAM.

Google doesn't need people porting it directly to Phones, this will harm the sales of Honey tablets...That's why ICS will unite tabs and phones.
I understand they do not want it on phones, But there are some decent tablets out there suffering the lack of sourcecode.
Also I recently noticed a flat out lack of any roms for a certain device

Perhaps ICS will be available for tabs and will run on the ones that currently have no honey support. But once they release it, devs can port it to phones, and they only want it on tabs, specifically the dual core ones.
It is a shame, The original Galaxy Tab was a wonderful device, Altho as a large phone it looks ugly as sin, Running honeycomb however, It certainly looks nice between the transformer and new tab 10.1 and 8.9

How is the Vibrant?

Thinking about getting one. I know someone who has a t-mobile one.
Is it easy to root/unlock. I'd love to play with CM10 on it does it run well?
Other than GPS and intermittent 911 issues, the CM10 based ROMs that I've used run nicely.
As far as unlocking, you can simply download a free market app that will unlock your Vibrant.
For a phone that has been out now for.... over two years? It still hangs tough with the big boys in my opinion. If you have the opportunity to get one, my advice would be to go ahead and give it a shot. I think you'll like it.
You were just sliced bread before you were burnt by the toaster.
As my boy toaster said, this phone is the little android that could. Samsung and
T-homobile wrote this device off, never updating past froyo. Well the beautiful minds of cyanogen/xda community knew that the capabilities of this device was greater so we got cm7/GB based ROMs. The haters said this device wouldn't run ICS, the great minds proved that it would. Now JB ROMs are running smooth!! My 2 1/2 year old phone is running android 4.1.2, while over 90% of new phones are still on ICS.
If you find a vibrant for sale, for a good price, grab it!
** Make sure its the t959 3g, not a t959v 4g. The t959v has a front facing camera, runs 4g*, and comes with inception on it.
But the t959v only has a 4gb internal SD card vs the vibes 16gb SD card. It is limited because of that, not nearly as many people dev'ing for it.
**very easy to root etc if you read and follow directions!
No tickee, no laundry!
I always go back to this device after using much more expensive ones for some reason. I don't like new phones that lack microSD slot and transfer using MTP mode. My previous S3 had MTP issues that cause transferring to be extremely slow and freeze up midway.
This thing run JellyBean surprisingly smooth. GPS just need an easy hardware fix. It can playback HD MKV videos without problems if you're using the right software. The only lacking thing about this phone is the GPU which can't handle new games anymore.
Side note, I just rebought a Nexus S because my Vibrant charging port broke, but it's actually not as good. Has issue with slow USB transferring with ICS and JB that haven't been fixed since forever. The camera despite LED flash is not as good and worthless for macro and nightshots. I don't understand this, but for a Nexus device, it's actually less stable than the Vibrant with reboots with stock roms. Also Semaphore kernel and its manager app for the Vibrant has more customization than the Nexus S kernels.
With that said this phone is getting dated. I'm still searching for a proper upgrade, with 4-4.3" screen, removable battery, pentaband or with 1700 and 1900 3g band, microsd slot, a better camera, higher than 800x480 res, and Cyanogenmod supported. I haven't found a device that meet these criterias yet, the Blaze come close and just got CM10 supported so it might be better to get than the Vibrant at this point. Looking at new phones, some missing features of the LG Nexus 4 is more if a backward step to me than an upgrade. The S3 mini looks more like a lackluster attempt by Samsung to cash off their S3 popularity, I might had been interested if it had a higher res screen.

i have t-mobile t959 vibrant which feels great to have. Yes I ran froyo for sometime since I was waiting for official updates which wasn't available till NOW. these guys doin amazing work getting new android versions on vibrant. I am running ICS on my vibe which looks great. no hassles. Yeah. It will run JB too definitely. **As samsgun357 mentioned make sure to get t959**
Grad a vibe n you will know what its capable of
tc
The t959 is way underated, especially with the quality of devs that have contributed. Cm10 is in progress, but thats the fun. Shes a honey bunny with a nice screen.
