use the ones posted here on the forums they will always be more up to date than an OTA but if I had to choose a CSC I would use EU anyway.

Does not work that way CSC does not define the update path .
General updates quicker than others i would choose Europe based firmware .
UK certainly has received a number of updates .

uk is not europe? which firmware should i use for general Europe based firmware?

UK ROM on different phone?

I think i have a Latin American version of the phone. Is it safe to flash with a UK ROM? Will it, for all intent and purposes, be like a UK version of the SGS2?
Yeh it'll be fine as long as there are no hardware differences, you can find stock firmwares on samfirmware.com

Thanks! Gonna do this afternoon then!
You're welcome, if i was you I would flash a generic European rom (XEU) as they receive ROM updates through Kies before the UK specific versions do, I'm on O2 in the UK and still on KE2 (my product code is O2U)

I plan on flashing this one, which is the last one listed for Europe on SamFirmwares.com:
I9100XWKF3 ## EXT4.PIT 2.3.3 2011 June 9 CSC - KCL
Is that a good one to get?
I'm starting to understand the whole firmware numbers now. Damn, talk about immersing yourself in a new culture to learn the language!
Seems like the newest generic UK ROM is KE7.
Since I'm in the US, and there is no US version of the phone, I wonder which CSC I should use. I guess it comes down to which region has the most desirable app choices in the market, huh?

upgrading to 2.3.6

Hi everone. My sgs2 has the xwki4 kernel and i found a upgraded firmware elsewhere on this site. Now: why is the country code important, if at all? My phone is not branded and is sim free. I bought it in namibia, so choosing the south african letter code would make the most sense. But was this phone really destend for the sa market or came it from elsewhere? Is it worth upgrading to. 6 at all? Ota is obviously not showing any availabe firmware upgrade.
any advice?

Country code ???? do you mean CSC .
CSC is a local area file that just gives the local networks settings to auto set network instead of manual settings .
Personally i would wait for ICS to rollout soon .

Since i didnt get notified about . 5 or. 6 i guess ics wouldnt be available ota here as well...
since i couldnt find csc for namibia does that mean there wont be ics for our network?
Nobody on here knows. Ask your carrier or Samsung.

jje
thank you
and does the region code matter? i mean i am from slovakia, that means ORS for me but im fine with BTU (UK) if it is better.
does anybody knows how can i find out what is the last firmware?
I9300 = Model - yes
DX = Region code or Network Code - i gues this does not matter
LE = Release-Date of the Firmware
8 = Revision
- is it in hexadecimal order?

As stated by an aussie XDA user
The T model is tuned to favour the 850mhz band. There is a difference in hardware but very minor. Other than that they are the same.

you can use any country firmware other than the asian countries (china, thailand, koreea, vietnam, etc.) unless you want some apps to be in a wierd language .

S21, how to change CSC...

Hello guys! I know this is a well talked subject, but i'm still trying my luck... I have S21 SM-G991 with ORO (Orange Romania) csc... I'm looking to change it to DBT (open Germany), i tried lots of thinks, writing different firmwares with ODIN, tones of dialer codes, but nothing. Even worse, i end up having ORO/EUX CSC and SamFrew cant find anymore firmwares for my device... Any ideea how i can get that DBT CSC? Thanks!
P.S. First photo is with the CSC i had out of the box and second one with the CSC i ended.
