Hi everyone!
Possibly will be threatened / accused of being a bad person with this post, or the moderators will expel me, but I'm desperate. I love my Wave 8500, is as beautiful and pleasant to the touch, do not want to trade for other equipment, but I want Android on it.
In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to all people who have a samsung Wave, send an email to Samsung, showing our displeasure with this operating system, and asking them to release Android OS devices Wave. Or at least that they develop the drivers for the modem and the other things missing. In this email we could post heavy photos of our samsung Waves and thus overloading the server in order to repair them in us. The only way to reach large numbers of people would be through Facebook, just imagine the samsung receive millions of emails a day ... imagine this happening for weeks .. Sorry but it's just a thought, do not want to hurt anyone.

Hey dats a good idea... Really gud one. But in opinion i would say jst hire couple of android developers for modem.. Then the wok wud finish faster.. If donations are required many of us are willing to donate.... Tell me if i am wrong..
They won't do it. Samsung is deaf for such requests until it doesn't affect more than 50% of all device users.

I can assure you that if you want to hire developers - this would require amount of money that Bada community can't donate.
If they "want" make modem driver for Wave yes it's good point... I don't think donation make development faster or release driver... Because need crucial information both modem and Wave structure to make it possible...unless you hire someone from samsung or that one has a lot of knowledge in the field.

Aghh i really dislyk bada now... So hw many devs are left in the project???
Seriously why dont sumbdy make a petition for dat and keep buggin samsung... I dnt knw hw 2 do dat....

There are quite many wave users.. And all of them want either android and few of them including me wants tizen.. Bt tizen z dead end. So this is our last hope.. They need to tak care of their customers.

by then we will change the handset
Bada phones in general are almost free with a phone plan, in France we have a package with a 1€ ... It's a bit too normal that the contribution is not as powerful as a Galaxy S3 ..

This will not at all work....Samsung is a Deaf company...
We have already did such things for faster and better updates but no luck
and why Samsung will port Android on all waves ,they never sell wave saying it has android...they never provide anyone faulty:silly: OS...
Doing such things will not make any difference to samsung..

Ok, you guys who say that the correct thing to do is support your devs, are right! its the best thing to do!
So, if we make a fixed post with the title, as an example, "Bada communities, please unite to develop ICS to wave devices" and in that post ask to all of those bada communities in all the world convince their users to make one big donation, probably we can reach a big amount of money for the devs. why not appeal? certainly some people can't give much money, but all together, yes we can.

I haven't seen fundraisers for $20.000 yet. You can be the first.
can we increase internal memory by link2sd by making use of the external SD card?This has been done successfully in galaxy Y! I asked because since ICS is available maybe this can be tried(I don't own a wave so can't try).

if 500 ppl or more pledge for $40 each that should do it. there must be a way to do this.
much cheaper than getting a new device
and the wave hardware and design is very good, feel bad about throwing it away just because of the OS

Reading through here about the Bada operating system after getting an 8500 in a job lot of phones and wondering why the **** it doesn't have Android when Samsung were making 'Droids at the time of it's release. Just thought I'd wake this comment up to remind you of the way Microsoft pulled the rug out from Windows 6.5 users and left them with no official support at all.

i love to flash ROMs
I'm greatfull to all the wonderful Chefs/developers/users/co-members at XDA
(mostly for the Raphael Forums as thats what i use-99% of times.)
But recently i've noticed that the Forums and developments here on this Forum is not SO lively and ACtive as it used to be i wonder why should that be the case...
I remember the time that there used to be ROM releases every other day but ow its come down to once or twice a week...and sometimes even longer...I've no grudge against any of the Chefs i'm totally aware of the fact that ROM Development ETC takes heck lot of time and effort ...But i feel that its not about the time its about the passion with which people respond to these ROMs they have kind of got dispassionate towards the ROMs and take it for granted and don't appreciate the work of the Chef...
I could be wrong absolutely wrong but this is what i feel.
I'm really sorry if you don't think so...
But i feel we should be greatfull to the DEvelopers/Chefs/Co-members here at XDA they are the ones who help us.
We should not take them for granted.
We should help a person who is in problem rather than thinking that someone else will ofcourse help him/her.
If we are good to people then only people will be good to us.
If we appreciate and praise a Chefs/developers Work then only he/she will be motivated to give us all something even better the next time otherwise he will feel he is just wasting time.
Show respect and regard people XDA is a wonderful place for all of us.

I've been coming here for a few years, and it seems as something gets more popular, the more it seems the people involved are less appreciative. I see a LOT of "dang, it's taking you forever to build this rom" or "it's got a bug and sucks, why can't you fix it" and that type of mentality. but on the flip side, some people draw that type of person. I've been using RRE roms for a long time. and while I've seen a few people piss in aruppenthal's post toasties, for the most part, most of the people who use his roms are very appreciative, and supportive.
I know some people won't agree with me, and I'll probably piss off a few people, but when you get this many people in 1 place, you are ALWAYS going to have dipsh!ts and idiots and the like. I mean we're talking about 250k active accounts here. think about a superbowl game.. 30-50k people and there are tons that get arrested, or beaten down cause they're drunk and stupid (or obnoxious) or whatever. I think we're doing exceptionally good here. a TON of people and most of them are nice, supportive and stuff.
Me? I love this board. it's what I consider home. (thanks ryan.)
I agree with u but what did u make so upset my friend. Its true that we have some a..holes in xda. But as jaguar says, u will always have them somewhere.
I still think the raphael area is still in pretty good shape, with helping people and being greatfull to the cooks.

What makes me upset are some of the posts i read by few Bugf**kers !
They insult the ROM the forums the chefs ! And its sad to share space with such jerks !

I think the board activity is representative of a normal product life cycle.
There was growth and a lot of development as people flocked to the Raphael.
Now, we are in a decline as the next generation of devices are coming out.
Big words , What has to be taken into account is that a lot of the chefs are moving on the newer devices, like Topaz, rhodium and HD2. This is a cycle, this has happened to the Kaiser forums as well but that's still active as well. Now the time has come for fresher chefs to cook their ROMs and grow. Where there is a need there shall be new ROMs. I actually think the kaiser forums are more stable nowadays but I could be wrong.
On a side note I cooked and then gave it a rest because of the the amount of work it worked out to be to make sure new changes wouldn't affect stability. Aside from the work it is to create a kitchen and find the newest\best packages. The testing process it fairly intensive. I don't think any good chef can whip up a ROM from scratch with in less than two days of hard labour, and that's if their experienced.

Then only XDA will continue the way it has otherwise it will someday become a paid portal with a limited number of civilized members..

expectation of the users.
Personaly, i beleived the advertisements and the reviews of this phone and
i gave 600 euros to buy it. I am cheated

Do you yell at the mechanic who is working on your car just because you bought a lemon? NO.
Do you take it up with the person from which you purchased the care? YES.
You seem to forget that XDA is not responsible for the design and marketing of HTC products. They are simply trying to get the most out of their devices.
If you are so greatly upset by the device, go get an iphone and quit complaining.

I moved over from KAISER to this one recently. I too have noticed the hostility of the people in this community. Often you read something in this line.....You should have read the back 20 pages before posting your question..........You should search before posting your question......... People should realise that people may not have all the time in the world to read as much as others.........Some people are more computer competent than others...........We have different abilities. We should all try and make each other valued.

These kind of people won't even be happy with the best phone in the world forget the iphone or anything....! Thank you for the support ! These type of people have to understand That Its not a developers/chefs fault that the App is not working ! He/She are trying their best to make it work ! Thanks a lot buddy ! I'm glas 65% of you agree with me and maybe the 11% somewhere inside their heart do agree...but the other 24% are the people who i hope will learn something and hopefully appreciate the efforts work and dedication of the developers/chefs here.
But the people who Say that they don't care and just want resources are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves they are very ungrateful....
I hope that the 715 odd people who have read some of this thread realised something if not exactly what i wanted them to realise and hopefully will be better next time they post on any Forum.

My thoughts exactly. I find this poster's posts annoying because of that.
The site is as it has been in the lifelines of devices. New devices come out, and people move on to the next best thing. I think it is rare that there is griping - though it happens everywhere. The OP might be misinterpreting excitement to see new things in new builds for griping.

I mean that most people are passionate here about seeing what's next, and what is tweaked on new builds. I flash multiple times a week still, and love to see what I will find on a new build.
I check here multiple times a day for new things to appear. I can see people getting vocal about wanting to see new cool things. "Where's build 23085!!!" is what I am thinking, but not to piss anybody off or push people. Rather,to want to simply get my hands on it to play.
Also, complainers complain. 99.99% of people are fine with things, but the couple of schmucks complaining may make it appear that most people are ungrateful.

Sir i agree with you mostly on that.
Indeed newer ROMs and latest developments excite most of the people on this community, But I feel most of those people who download these ROMs/Programs/Developments and are so called "Flash-junkies" are taking things for granted as in i mean if they see a build 23081 they will try it maybe say its good, but it lacks this this and this... And then after a little while say please do this is 23085 please do this and this this are taking the fact for granted that the chef for sure will write a 23085 build without appreciating the effort he put in the 23081 build
In simple terms i mean is that they JUST demand with little or no apprecition of any sorts (i'm not saying that nobody appreciated anybody i'm saying this trend has crept in ....and there are a bunch of such people---> like the 4 people who said "they don't care about appreciation, they just want appreciation ! I agree but 99.9% is according to me increasing at a rapid rate.
Even tho I don't have the device and there is not a recovery yet, I am already working hard on a rom for all of you Fascinate people :] Just check back on this post every so often for the release. I will probably release it when Koush releases his recovery for the Fascinate. Pretty much what this is going to do is de-bloat your phone, fully deodex it and other little things here and there. If you want more roms like this for the Fascinate please donate and buy me one here.

Yeah my other roms were froyo. This wont be froyo yet, I am just going to play around with the system folder for the first 2 releases. Then comes the fun :]
Pretty much a second post of your other "please give me money"... Great that you want to develop a ROM but I am sure I'm not the only one to think you are really just fishing for some money (unlike a lot of other ROM developers who do GREAT work without even asking for a dime)
Isn't the whole "pay me now for work later" something we all learned at a young age never worked out well?
Matt, if you want to do something useful, besides shuffle some icons around and rename system files, come help work out the kernel / source compilation issue(s). Once that's done we'll still have to develop the recovery.
There's no point even discussing custom roms without a custom recovery.
Until then, this is like paying full price for a pre-order for a device that hasn't even been announced.
IMO, this thread should be locked at this point.

Have you even seen his past work? Obviously you haven't, because if you had, you would know Matt is sure to do some great work. It's pretty hard to develop a ROM for a phone he doesn't have though, hence, he's asking for donations.
If you don't have the means to donate that's not a problem - no one is expecting you to of course, but don't give a developer **** because he wants to make this phone better.

I did not mean for this and the other thread to turn into a flame war. I just know that in the android community, a lot of users have been burned by donating to "devs" (chefs) and then the "dev" bails.
The work he has done on the Droid 2 does seem to be good for that phone, and thats what that phone needs. The fascinate though, is a different beast. More power to him if he wants to help. But begging for people to help him buy a phone before we even have a means to install his roms leaves a cheap taste in my mouth.
I want to thank any dev that has interest in developing / cooking up roms for the phone, as people will enjoy their phone more. I just ask that said devs wait for people to finish developing a simple and safe way to install the rom. I released a rom for the fascinate last week that had most of the bloatware removed, but the only way to flash it is by odin, not a preferred / safe way to flash the rom.
Just hold your horses. we will have a recovery soon, and like i said in the other thread, then you can do what you want with your money. But i assure you, we will have a lot in store for the users once that hurdle is passed.
Umm... get donations from the d1 and d2 work that you've already done, buy a Fascinate, create ROMs for that, and THEN (if it's a halfway decent job) people will donate without you even needing to ask them. Why ask people to pay for something that you haven't even done yet but then reassure them it'll happen because of your other work? If what you did with the d1/2 is good then shouldn't you be able to get donations from that? I'm not accusing you of trying to scam people I'm just telling you what seems to make the most sense.

Are you serious? I only started asking for donations like a week or two ago and I have been developing roms for a few months.
I'm just excited we're close to seeing some dev work. I wholeheartedly believe in donation as a support system for development. I do not however donate to theory.
I will be throwing some paypal love once I see some good dev work on here.

Matt, Don't take this the wrong way. I do think you're a good and honest developer based on comments i've read on the ROM you've done on Droid. I've been around this forum for a long time and have given my hard earned cash to many worthy developers and others. Donations typically are to support a website, finance a developer for his time, and/or buy hardware needed, etc... This forum has changed a bit in the last decade and some here may not understand how this all works. We do this as either an investment or a reward. Reputation is everything though. And that is why some here are hammering you.
Since you're new to us, if you don't mind, introduce yourself, tell us your skillsets, tell us what you bring to the table? Alot of us are tech heads and would appreciate that.
This website changed once Android became popular. The WinMo community was smaller and calmer. Android has blown everything up.

eh, i remember a lot of drama going on in the CDMA forums all the time. We had chefs that would rip off of other chefs and claim it as their own just to get more donations / money for their "work"
I have never asked for donations, as the work i do is to better my own phone so why not help everyone else? I just started posting a link to make a donation to world vision in my new posts, because if people are willing to donate, why not have them donate to a great cause?

The good ol pocket PC days. Trying to make WinMo 5 act like a reasonable touchscreen interface. I remember using the kitchens to experiment and make my own custom ROM's. We all made windows CE registry tweaks to do all kinds of things. Windows was easier to program for. I had many custom programs that i openly shared directly with users (M$ didn't like us sharing). I hope Android users get that this is simply a labor of love for us hobbyists. If i wanted a phone i wouldn't customize much but had a lot of features, i'd stay with the iPhone. I've been playing with APPDeveloper to get my feet wet, and soon will have some custom programs myself once i get off it and transfer to eclipse coding.

easier to know/find bugs/etc..
and if they like wht they see then obviously they will donate
P.S.: even i dont have a Play but i try my best to develop for this device

Like I said, if the guy gives ANY proof, I will gladly admit that I was wrong and apologize (after all, we are all civil here). However, for example, some random guy you never seen before knocks at your door and asks for money in exchange for something amazing in the future, you'd think he's crazy. I'm judging a book by it's cover here, but that's not always wrong. Again, I still don't believe in this guy, but if he proves me wrong, I will gladly and publicly apologize.
And some advice to op. If you want to insult me, please try (try) to use proper english. That way we can have an argument or debate like a couple of adults and not scream at each other like children. Don't say it's not your first language or you don't know it well (I understand those people), because I know. I don't care how you write otherwise, but keep that in mind when you want to argue with me.

in order to discourage development, development has to exist in the first place. What we have seen from this guy is not development, it's bad spelling, baseless accusations and mockery to other users. I'm all for discouraging those things.

Piracy is not permitted on XDA, if your too tight to shell out a couple of £ for the game, you dont deserve to play it.
Think of the time and effort it takes these developers to make these games,

When I was asking for help at that time I don't tried but when I tried it's working for me now I have 1M glu credits an I don't think its possible to do for anyone.

Two points my friend, If you claim to work for a Company as big as Samsung in the Development area, am sure you language, grammar and spelling would be much better than what you are demonstrating here.
Because you can use a Cheat Engine and search for a Incrementing or descending value, does not make you a pro bro.
Actions speak louder than words. why dont you show me some of your work.

What you say is very relevant and not a useless post from a stupid guy.
Unfortunately we live in a world which has good and bad people. Of course something can be done to make life difficult for the bad people. But that will also make the lives of the good guys difficult. Nothing can be targeted at the bad guys alone. It will equally affect the good guys. Further there is no 100% deterrent since the bad guys will always find a way out. They have all the time since their entire life is spent doing such things.
That is why beyond a point Devs don't make the effort to tighten the licensing. They can spend the time usefully to make the lives of the good guys better.
Neither you nor me nor the Dev can make the bad guys good. So let us spend our lives doing things which will make good guys happy.

DRM will only affect legit owners and all DRMs will be cracked.
Like I said the app\game quality is the most important part, not the DRM.
