Please help - Optimus One, P500, V General

I wanted to change again the Baseband cause i had some problems. I used the Guide of Dr.Notor. All went well he made the Backup of nv2 fiel and started the phone in Emergency Mode. After that the program tried to write ass but now it is on timeout after 45 minutes. I have no idea what to do. Please help me. The LGMDP is already running and the phone connected. What can i do?

First of all, edit the thread's title to something more descriptive, like "Problem changing baseband"
Did the NV2 Backup complete successfully? It's the main thing, without that say goodbye to your phone signal.
Weird that 45m timeout, I changed my P500's baseband in less than 10m I think... did you follow drnotor's guide entirely? Including the part of disabling LG modem and not touching the phone until it finishes?

Yes.
Sorry for the bad title

If you have your nv2backup you could try flashing it over once again from step 1, maybe that works.

It worked. I stopped the program and run it again. My Phone is running again. The problem with error searching network on CM9 persists. The Baseband rechange doesn't bring the solution.

Now that you already have NV file if you use lgmdp always in emergency mode dont mather if you flash only bb or recovery or the entire rom but flash with phone already in emergency mode and lgmdp will not touch the nv file

Good tip. Next time I make it from emergency mode.
The stupid thing is that I risk a lot for nothing, cause the baseband didn't bring me something.

The new baseband was already on my phone, but I thought that maybe something went wrong the first time and therefore I get the "Error while searching networks" on CM9. After install it again the result remains the same.

I asked few times but nobody answered. I don't see it on Bug-List and so I thought it was the fault of my phone. I like ICS and JB but as I explained on other posts I live on the borderline to other countries and I cannot live with automatic search of networks, cause It can be really expensive for me.

As said above, you will have the bug as long as you are using the junky Froyo RIL stack. This issue exists on CM7 as well since they've "fixed" the stupid 128KB SIMs by reverting the RIL stack. Messing with baseband will not solve anything for you.
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=5182
Ask your operator to have roaming deactivated, best I can offer if you want CM9+. On CM7, the RIL can be switched back to GB, with CM9 this causes a force-close loop with the phone app -> no go.

Is there a way to check whether I have a Funny SIM Card or not? And in case I have, is it possible to let it change from provider and with which excuse?

Well, flash latest CM7, flash the attached ZIP and if your SIM does not get recognized, it is funny.

Thanks a lot.
I made all the steps and the SIM works. Now I have to hope that CM will revert the RIL to GB too, so that I can use CM9+.
You wrote that this Patch runs only on CM7 and not on CM9+. Is there in fact no chance to make a similar patch for the newer firmwares?

Yes maybe its a faulty rom.

Sure there is, however I am not going to recompile CM9 for this, it requires patching files, overwriting the libs is no longer enough, as said above.

Do you mean mik_os git changes in the above issue link?
Easier would be that CM changes back to GB RIL.

yea, try the battery pull. If that doesn't work, try to odin the EC01 radio (I was told you can do that with the mez, but not sure). Also, this belongs in Q/A not development.
I've tried three different radios. None work. And I had to pull the battery several times for odin. And I posted this in development in hope of knowledgable developers seeing it.

Not to mention a reason for posting about a mesmerize problem in the fascinate forum - these guys don't use our phone so may not be able to help you
On a side note, this might be worth a shot, if not you'll need to flash a full stock build with odin with re-partition checked to make sure your phone is completely re-formatted;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InN-Z340BO0
Either way, if you need to continue - post this in the mesmerize general forum (and only there).
Before you do all that try doing a simple ESN swap. Do a forum search right here in the Fascinate forums. A lot of people lost their 3G data when flashing ED01 Froyo. If you have the same problem myself and most of us had then flashing other radios and roms won't do a damn thing but make you mad.

I ran into this same problem, I also have the Mes...here is what I did to fix, In Odin, I flashed the EC10 stock for the Mes, aqnd I checked the boxes "re-partition" and "EFS Clear", when I rebooted, I had signal (no 3g and couldnt make calls" but I used *228 and it re activated my phone, bingo, 3g back.
Basically what I did was remove ALL information on the phone, which included the MIN and MDN so when I re activated it and activated my data again.
You should try to hook your phone, up in qpst service painting and enter your info for the mez in the ppp tab

[Q] O2 Phone Stuck in specific areas, with apparent signal OK

hi guys,
i am having a bit of a situation, i have a sgs2 unlocked, rooted, 2.3.4, o2 sim card and since a few weeks, every day when i am at work, usually at 09.00am, my phone is literally stuck, when i arrive it works OK, even going in/out of the tube, then at work, (2nd floor office, good reception), after doing some texts, or some browsing, . basically out of the blue i cannot do anything, text, browse the internet or call but the strange thing is that the phone shows that there is signal, 4 bars, 10-11 asu. only option is to restart, i cannot even put the phone to flight mode, gets stuck...this tells me something is happening.
i know that o2 had a massive failure a few weeks back and when that happened i was on holidays out of UK, then when i got back, this problem started appearing....o2 support suggested to check the SIM, i got a new one, but exactly same problem happened again.. i reported them the issue again, they checked the network, just one time it appeared they had some problem in the area but then no more, yet i am the only one having problems in my office, and there's other people with o2.
what is even more weird, is that this happens ONLY when i am at work, during the weekends, not at work, the phone never gets stuck.
now, this is a rather annoying issue but i found on some other forum other people with the SAME issue, so perhaps is a known issue?
as further troubleshooting, when i bought the phone, it had 2.3.3 and a similar issue was happening, the DATA was getting stuck between the tube stations, after upgrading to 2.3.4, problem was solved.
so the big question is.... IS IT THE PHONE? IS IT THE SIM CARD? o2 support even suggested to change the SIM again, should i have had a massive case of bad luck to get a faulty one, again.....i even tried one of those apps that boost the signal, nothing.
any idea guys? to be honest i didnt plan to put ICS since i don't see that many benefits, and i dont think it will fix this issue in particular, or am i wrong?
thanks guys, sorry for the long post!
gab
I would say try ICS and you will see. You can always go back if you don't like it.

[General question/though] softbrick phone made in china hope Entropy enlightens us

First Let me say everything Here is all my personal Opinion and by just rooting phones and installing mod I already sorta voided my warranty. Okay Lets start, A few months when the ICS bug was Hot Like fish grease my phone's USB was corroded and would not charge. I went to a ATT Repair center and Got a new one/refurbish one and I notice that it didn't have much under the battery All it said was the Model number IME barcode and the "MADE IN CHINA" Letters.
I came home and the first thing I did was root install GB custom rom. I decided to wait for CM9 to taste ICS. After it was On nightly I install like any other installation and then move on to AOKP Rom from task, That rom has the feature that lets you change the text where you carrier label is. And I change which was fine. I went back to CM9 and that text Remain there and I did wipe/data like it said in the instructions, When I updated to the latest nightly I use Rom manager and booted into CMW (noob mistake) I wasn't paying attention and I got a soft brick. phone booted and showed SAMSUNG GALAXY SII but then just turn off and on buttons on bottom lit up like when you put your phone into download mode. I pull battery Use method to return to stock/root Using Odin Which if I'm correct it would have increase my counter (Correct me if I'm wrong) phone work Install a kernel with CMW using terminal install CM9 And even when I did those steps the same text That I had use was still There.
I found that very Weird but I still left it I didn't care. When the Leak ATT ICS came out Entropy said something about Bricking your phone something to do with the eMMC chip or whatever, Anyways Fast forward to lastnight/today I wanted to start from scratch and install a Samsung base rom just for giggles. And to my surprise I wipe my SD card and tried to wipe my phone but in the whole process my phone lag and I guess I press the button to wipe so many times I pull battery and guess what happen?... I got a soft brick again, Okay spend 30 mins again to redo my regular soft brick steps and my media scanner, Gallery, Camera didn't work. I then again wipe the phone and loaded semi v16c UCLE5 att update and my phone work again I formatted my sd card and my gallery camera started working again. But again the Carrier text from The very first AOKP rom Was still there in the lock screen.'
I again wipe and soft brick but this time to test out if it really does happen when You wipe from phone. Which it did happen and again repeated my steps. I guess I would like entropy or someone with more knowledge than me help me answer these mind boggling questions.
1. Is it possible my phone is sorta unique of the soft brick/wipe phone routine?
2. I downloaded the app from chain fire that detects if your emmc chip is one of the unlucky ones who have the bug or whatever and I do have the chip
3.How is it possible That the carrier label text is still there after so many wipes and rom flashes
4. I pretty sure I have not done anything to the boot loaders unless the roms I flash has them (which I think they don't)
I hope I explain my situation good. Again this is not a rant or troll or a customer support tread I clearly Understand the dangers of flashing and rooting Thanks for reading
p.s remove the picture because apparently my screenshot is offensive
Well that was a mouthful. LOL.

1. You use rom manager
2. You use the factory reset in settings
3. You pull the battery in the middle of flashes
Why are you using Odin when you have cwm? Are you not making nandroids before flashing? Do you know how to boot to recovery from a boot loop?
I suggest you read a whole lot more about flashing and recovery before you do anymore. Because a lot of what you posted sounds like it could've been avoided had you followed any of the guides.post on xda

When using a custom ROM. If you are using what came with the phone or is updated officially via ATT then you may use it without issue.
OK . First, don't use rom manager. As already stated. And second, make sure to do FULL wipes between flashing different roms. This includes /system, data, cache, dalvik, and running the kernel cleaning script for good measure. That should always leave u with a fresh install.

[Q] [Xperia U] Wi-Fi connections give me "Limited Conectivity".

Hi there!
I just got a shiny new Xperia U and proceeded to connect to Wi-Fi, only to discover that it will not connect entirely, instead giving me "Limited Conectivity".
Now, I've been searching all over the Internet for the past few days and have found many users with similar problems (and a whole bunch of solutions that didn't work). Basically what's going on is that the DHCP is giving me a 169.254.xx.xx adress instead of a 192.168.xx.xx as it should. This happens on ALL routers. I've managed to get internet at work by using a static IP and setting the DNS manually, but then that same solution didn't work at home (work is WPA, home is WEP, not sure if that's the reason). And in any case, setting up DNS for every Wi-Fi connection is not really a plausible solution (public Wi-Fi spots ain't gonna tell you their DNS).
So, that's as far as I've managed to get. I've downloaded some of those Wi-Fi fixer apps but they don't work. I've been trying everything short of rooting the device (haven't done it yet, never had a Smartphone before and I rather not go too deep unless strictly necesary).
Anyway, that's my problem. If anyone can give me a hand, I'd be most grateful.
And finally tech specs:
Android 4.0.4
Model number: ST25a
Build number: 6.1.1.B.1.10
Thanks in advance!

Ok, and um... how do I do that? The Sony software (PC companion, the one I used to update from 2.3.7) says I'm up to date. I'm going to try the Sony updater, maybe that will download the propper one.
(for reference, baseband version is u8500-49020905-P2H_EC01, I assume this is what you mean the update will update and fix)
EDIT: tried with Sony Updater. The thing reinstalled everything, erased my data (not much data really but I'd have liked to keep it) and then installed B1.10. I'm at a loss here.

I'm trying to find the firmware download. All I see is ROMs. That's not it, it it? Or should I just put a ROM with that latest firmware? It's all very confusing.
Edit: ok, I THINK I found it. Xperia U (ST25i)_6.1.1.B.1.89 ICS 4.0.4_Tim Italy By Shisma.ftf that should be it. 400 Megs.
Edit2: Ok, did that. Baseband and firmware are updated and... nope, still "Limited Conectivity" with IP 169.254.xx.xx

Hmm, it may be hardware then. Can you try CM9?

CM9? Not sure what that is.
It COULD be hardware, I've seen many people complaining about the same thing with Xperia phones. Even on the Sony forums (and Sony's response is always "check the router"). But since other people don't have this isuue, I'm guessing it's gotta be solvable by software.
I fear that if it's the model and if I just return it, they'll give me another one and it will have the exact same problem
Edit: ok, found that CM9 means a custom ROM. I guess after installing a firmware, installing a ROM shouldn't be too much of a problem (even if I don't fully understand the whole thing). Will try. Any tips?
Edit2: oh dear god, I just went to the list here on XDA, there's so many! I thought it was just one! Um... help? I'm completely lost here.
Okay, CM9 is AOSP android ( the pure android, without Sony's framework or addons) with some extra features. Actually not all xpu models suffer from the problem you describe. My suggestion is that you exchange it for a new model. But if you want to try cm9, pm me. I'll give a detailed guide

This is shiny new under warranty? Why not take it back to service center before doing things that may break warranty? (Just my opinion).

Yes, shiny new under warranty. I'm going to take it there tomorrow. Haven't decided if I'm gonna root it or not. I mean... what's more likely? That it's a software problem and can be solved by instaling custom ROM? Or that it's a hardware problem and I should ask for another one? What are the chances that a new one WILL have working Wi-Fi?
I'ts been a crazy week trying to sort this thing out. I'm completely lost and willing to do anything. But yeah maybe I shouldn't jump into rooting if changing is easy (but WILL it be easier? I'll know that tomorrow when visiting my carrier I suppose).
Typical software developer, my frist instinct was to try and solve it myself
Quick solutions...
Flash the lastest stock ROM using flashtool, you know, download and install the program, download the ROM, put in firmware folder, click at the thunder icon, choose flashmode pick the ROM and follow screen instructions.
If doesn't work, go for your warranty.
Any question just ask.
EDIT: You need to install drivers for flashing, is at drivers folder, you can search a tutorial for flashtool.

Yes, that's what we've tried (read rest of thread). I flashed the latest firmware, with the updated baseband. Didn't work.
Then read the last quick solution.

heh, yeah, I know. I'm gonna do that tomorrow. If new phone doesn't work, I'll try the unlock and CM9 thing.
Good luck.
