Amaze showing no sim, imei is ok... What could that be? - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey peeps, i have a problem with an HTC Amaze in here thats not recognizing the sim card. It shows the imei and all that. Radio seems to be fine but then again when it turns on it will not recognize the tmo or any other sim card. Its running 4.0.3 ICS but thats about all i know. It had never been open before i did. Inside everything looks ok. But i know that doesnt mean everything is ok. Could it be the sim card holder? I have already checked the pins that make contact with the sim card and they look fine. Hardware? Software? Any advice?

I only say this because i made the mistake of putting the sim card upside down. All my previous phones were the opposite. lol

Lol! very funny story but this is not the case ha ha... So any other advice will be appreciated. If i find out ill let the forum know what i did...

That happened to my first Amaze. It fixed itself the next day, but another problem popped up. Unfortunately, I had to trade it in and get a new one. Hopefully, everything will work out for you.

Had to use a new sim card when I got the Amaze a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn't recognize the card I been using for for year.

this. i would think you need a new sim card. the imei has zilch to do with the sim

i had to get a new replacement for my phone, kept resetting it and everything flashing new roms, radio would work then go out, got a new phone works great again.

What sim card are you using? Maybe the card is incompatible. Any T mobile store should new able to help you with that.

Help...again

Not sure what happened, but I was helping a friend root and unlock his phone and now my SIM card won't even work on my phone again.
I press *#7465625# to check if everything is "off" and it is.
I put the SIM card in and nothing is recognized.
I factory reset the phone twice and still nothing.
Is this a form of bricking the phone?
I pop the SIM card on my brother's blackberry and it works, but nothing on my Samsung which was working fine.
Maybe because I left the SIM card in while rooting/unlocking my friends device?
Help.
Im confused, you were working on your friends phone but now your phone doesnt work? How are the two related?
When u say unlock, what do you mean? You were trying to unlock it so it would work with a differnt carriers sim card?
I think you should odin back to jfd...that should fix your problem. Then install a custom rom of your liking.
Ya, sorry it was rather confusing on my part.
My phone was running stock and great, 2.1.update1 JV16.
His was essentially the same stock phone.
I rooted mine a month ago and unlocked it - to work with my carrier here in Canada.
I was doing the same to his (rooting/unlocking) but with MY SIM card in his phone.
I didn't do anything in terms of ODIN and all that, just bare stock.
I rooted his phone, unlocked it as well. I did this with MY SIM card in his phone.
Not sure if that screwed things up, but now on my phone, the SIM card isn't being read by my phone at all. No SIM cards work on my phone, period.
Hope this clarifies it.
Thanks.
get a new sim card from t-mobile.

LTE sim cards?

Ok, so I'm totally used to CDMA, obviously, but I've lived abroad and appreciated the beauty of just swapping SIM cards in when you're in a new country.
Is it possible to just swap SIM cards like GSM cards, or do you still have to call Verizon to activate? The reason I ask is, my father and I were going to swap Thunderbolts, but I didn't have time to call Verizon and do the ESN swap thing. Could we just have swapped SIM cards?
SIm card
SIM cards are for GSM technologies.... Verizon LTE is a GSM tech... And yes thats the theory, with Verizon announcing some day you will be able to use other networks LTE SIM cards in VZW phones. Sim card in your fathers phone gives you access to his google account and contacts.. unless you have transferred all google contacts to your SIM card.
It will only work with the sim you are given for the TB.

Got it. So the SIM is tied to the ESN somehow? Either way, they don't work like GSM sims.
they would most likely if the phone were entirely gsm, but since it's not. Like if you ruin the one you have, the only way to get a new one is directly from verizon and they can only be activated for the phone they are first put into.
dude no one here knows what they are talking about. if you swap sims with your dads phone then it should work fine. the phones will activiate with the respective phone number tied to your sim card. that is how you activate a replacement device as well. i just took my sim from my old phone and put it in the new phone and that is it. works JUST like GSM

If that was true, I wouldnt have to replace my SIM card both of the times Ive sent my phone in for repairs. My service is still on, just switched to a different phone. The verizon rep I spoke with yesterday(One of the few that actually know what she was talking about) confirmed that the moment that a phone gets disconnected the sim card gets retired. I dont know why, and I dont understand it, but thats the way VZW is rolling with it for now. As long as I dont have to pay for it, IDC. lol.

that must be because whoever is disconnecting the phone is killing the sim also for some reason. i have used the same SIM card in 2 thunderbolts and a samsung charge.

That's just it. That rep doesn't know what they're talking about. If you get a replacement TB, nothing should be changed on the account - no phone gets "disconnected." You simply move the SIM to the new phone. Sounds like that rep thinks it should be like a CDMA phone, where the account is changed to reflect that the phone's ESN has been changed when swapping phones.

Did you activate an old phone while waiting for repairs? That's really the only way your SIM would be deactivated.

I did. Im still unsure of why they retire my sim though. All in order to send me another one that will sit here till my phone gets back. Why not just put it on hold or put it on temporary hold?
Sim cards work in any phone that will take them.
Just to put this one to bed--they work just like GSM SIM cards. I swapped my SIM between another Thunderbolt and a Charge, and it worked perfectly every single time.

[Q] sim not activating.

in my hand is htc one x plus unlocked.
its originally from telus in canada.
i am using a koodo sim card in it but the phone has no service whatsoever even though the same sim used in another unlocked phone will work but wont work in this phone. this is the first time i have ever owned a htc phone after hd2 long long time. so i am not sure what to do and what to check for it. if somebody can help me i'll appreciate.
thanks

it says "ME returnd a temporary error" when i pop the sim in and no service. any idea of this error tried googling and got nothing
You shouldn't have a problem since Koodo is a Telus subdivision. Is it a Micro SIM card? Or a SIM you cut to have it work?

No SIM card detected

Every so often, the message will pop up that no SIM card is detected and that the watch needs to restart? I have checked SIM card placement as well as ensured the door is properly inserted back into the watch. Anyone else having this problem?

I bought two gear s' from tmobile, out of the box one of them did that and even when swapping the sims around, it seemed to follow the watch. I called tmobile and they redid the provisioning of the sim, she said the order was stuck in some sort of loop. I never had that issue again and its been a few months already.

Thanks. Just so I understand, they reset your SIM or did they replace it?

She said that she "re-provisioned" it. After she did that it went from no sim detected to working normally within a few minutes. This was with a brand new watch with brand new sims directly from Tmobile.
I am having this issue as well. I can not get the watch to even see my sim card at all. What may be the issue?
I'm having the same issue.
Even my SIM card is not detected. This happened after over a year of use. Is this a hardware problem? Or will flashing modem.bin fix this issue?

will not recognize sim card

Need help with this one... I just bought the phone from someone on Facebook. Well phone is unlocked and when I put my att sim card in it says inserted sim and restarts but still says no sim when it restarts. I called Sony and they told me to hook it to computer and download the software again so I did and it still has the same problem. I put my wife sim card it it it will read that there's a sim card inserted but will never give me cell service. I don't know what else to do. Please if anyone knows what I could try please let me know.. Thanks

Check your mobile network - access point name....does it have any APN service option....
Yeah, do what Martin wrote, and also try yet another SIM card. If it detected your wife's SIM, then it's probably not a hardware issue. May I ask how old your SIM is?
The SIM tray on the Ultra is also one of the worst designed trays in the history of time, so be 100% sure that you've put it in correctly.
The sim is only maybe 6 months old.. I am going to go in the morning and see about another sim. Maybe it will work.

Okay, so it's definitely not the SIM card, but the phone did detect your wife's SIM, so I'm not sure what the issue could be
I will post what I find out tomorrow when I take it to att tomorrow
OK so I took the phone to my phone provider and got a new sim and it works great now. But when I make a call on it the screen goes black and can't turn it back on until the phone hangs up even if the phone is nowhere near my face. I have looked to maybe keeping the phone on during call but there is no setting for that. I have read a few forms about this and there's only stuff about screen protector or cases which I am not using either of them. Please if anyone know something about this please help.. Thanks

1. What Android version do you have installed?
2. Are you using a screen protector?
