Next Cyanogen RC? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys whens the next cyanogenmod 9 or 10 stable gonna be released?
Im currently running the nightly of cm-9 and notice theyve sorted out the camera flash.
is it just a matter of sorting out fm and hdmi now?
UPDATE
Yep it looks like its far from ready.
No homescreen settings
Cannot resize widgets
Cannot turn off crt animation
Camera has less features than cm9
In fact I dont see any improvement in using jelly bean :S
ill go back to cm9 nightlies thanks!

I dont believe that the cm team actually announce ETA's on their software.

Cyanogenmod don't work to a release schedule, they release when it's ready.
The team have stated that the first rule of Cyanogenmod is don't ask for eta's

If you are worried then the answer is no flash or read the CM threads and judge for yourself .

There're a 101 pages on the cm10 discussion thread.
I'm asking if someone with experience can give me a run down of the current bugs or point me toward a changelog.

For me, there are only 3 problems with the current CM10, and I'm flashing it since Preview #2.
1 - HW Composer not fully working, causing minor hiccups on animations and scrolling
2 - FM Radio not working properly
3 - Memory leak after a time using it (you have to reboot the phone daily)
That's all, but in my opinion, it's WAYYYY better than ICS already.

Thx for the input. From the way it sounds me thinks ill go cm10 later tonight!

Just use Nova Launcher.
Camera is just fine.

I'm asking myself that question, too. I stuck with sammy rom right now but I want to change to cm10 as soon as possible. The cm10 releases are "experimental" at the moment, which says to me to not use it as daily driver.
I don't find cm10 any smoother or faster than stock sammy based roms but I find it much cooler esp. the theme chooser is awesome. cm10, apex launcher and aosp sammy camera is an awesome combination. I would stuck which that if a stable release of cm10 would be right around the corner and just like you I don't know if the rom is very early or as good as ready

Right, I might have a little much on my plate, but I am proposing to make a new rom, called DarkforestMiX.
Why the name DarkforestMiX?
Because it will be a mix between CyanogenMod 7 (thanks FreeXperia) and the stock rom.
I have decided to initially base this ROM on CM framework (CM as the base) and so touchpads will work as they do in CyanogenMod 7.
Why "Darkforest" again?
Because, I am from The Darkforest Group, and I am a co-owner. I develop stuff for dfg because I like to
There will be four Darkforest Group roms for the Xperia Play:
DarkforestROM RC2: not to receive any more updates until ICS
DarkMIUI: updated weekly, will be available to download via DFR app (app not yet released)
DarkforestMiX GSM
DarkforestMiX CDMA
What I need from you:
A banner for the rom would be nice and a click on the thanks button too
I can't yet give you an ETA, but my CM and stock merge will be a selfkang (compiling cm myself, merging it myself)
More details to come soon

I can make you a banner. I'm unemployed and have a degree that I apparently cannot use where I live, so I've got the time. lol
What are the rules for making a banner on this site? Dimensions, etc.? I'm assuming there's a thread on it somewhere here (I clicked the home button and am actively looking), but I haven't found it yet.
I think it would be better if you just keep working on DarkMIUI and improving DarkForestRom. Because I think that DarkForest is awesome but it sucks that you ain't updating it anymore...

thank you, it worked very handy when cmteam doesnt give much progress
the OC flickering is still there though (surely stock-kernel related, just to let others know)
[maybe my tasker profile will be useful for those who OC but annoyed by flickering: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565486]

the rotation bug just vanished ... haaaaa what a relief ! thanks mate appreciate it

I believe that it is no good idea to compare the newest build (I assume you refer to RC1) with the older KANG that was based on an older build (I assume the nightly of march 5), because in the meantime a couple of other files were changed that had nothing to do with the camera.
Instead one should only compare this older build with the KANG, as I have done.
It totally suffices to replace the files indicated in my post below. This also fixes the rotation bug, but apparently does not "break" any other changes made in later builds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23809364&postcount=2418
Maybe someone cares to make a flashable zip until the next build comes out?

I was wondering what you did in your new Rom, for the exposures.
Thank you
bump
flashing the zip and solving the exposure problem (now selecting exposure affect the brightness) and rotation (now photo result orientation match the phone position)
however exposure setting is too low, I have to manually change to +3 for normal outdoor photo every time I start camera app.
is there any fix to setting default exposure value?

Rooted...Want to install ICS ROM

Alright so I used section 6 of this thread to root http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1238070
1. What is the best stable ICS ROM out right now?
2. Do I need to flash a sense ROM and lock GPS in order for GPS to work on ICS?
3. Do I just follow all the steps of Section 4 in the above guide to install an ICS ROM?
Yes...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Aokp build 32 comes with a glitch kernel I compiled today... is that new enough for you. ;-)
Sent from my glitched aokp unicorn.
So this morning I flashed 32-aokp-glitchy to my Samsung Galaxy S - Fascinate (i did it from a 2.3ota odin successfully when i just updated it i was stuck in a bootloop with cwm) and oh man do I love this mod! Epic!!! I love it!!
I don't know what how the regular aokp build 32 responds vs the glitchy build but letme tell you this is the first time i've had the software phantom keypress fix and glitch also claims usb otg host mode but i haven't tried it yet ( i have a cable i'll let you guys know ). The keypress fix works beautifully, i really hope they include it in the next milestone instead of making us go to glitch!
It was also a little bit of a pain in the ass removing stock system apps from the os like built in launchers and ****. Just use a root-explorer and navigate over to /system/app/ and delete the files there you don't want from the build.
Also, the software navbar threw me off pretty hard since I flashed originally from build 29. Originally, software control for the navbar was in the rom control under settings but now its under the power control tab.
I had no idea where to find that but thanks to the guys at teamkang i figured it out! You guys are awesome!! I have mad respect and love for all of you devs!!

Looking For Most Stable ROM GB/ICS/JB

I am currently using Hells ROM JB 4.2.1 but there are to many bugs. I got to work and my phone wouldn't turn on so I had to battery pull and when I turned the phone back on my battery was at 80% (was 100% before I left for work). Also, was on the phone two different times and phone randomly rebooted itself. The phone is for my girlfriend and I know she'll be complaining with these bugs present lol. I just want the most stable ROM for this phone. If there is a JB ROM that doesn't have these issues please let me know. Otherwise a ICS ROM that doesn't have any of these issues, or lastly a GB ROM since that I would assume is probably the most stable considering it was the last release VZW put out for the Fassy. Thanks in advance guys!
To me Team Baked blackbean 6 was most stable
http://goo.im/devs/BAKED/fascinatemtd/baked_fascinatemtd_blackbean-6.zip
And their inverted gapps
http://goo.im/devs/BAKED/gapps/gappsinverted-jb-20130118-tegra2-signed.zip
Their are some initial setup tweaks, but it's been great...
You'll also probably get some others mentioned,,,
,,,some phones work better with certain ROMs others don't,,,, kinda luck of the draw sometimes,,,,,,
,,, but AOKP MS1 was also very stable
Random reboots are gonna happen though some less often,,,
trying each one it's really only way to BEST figure out your own most stable ROM,,,
Just gotta embrace a little testing knowing their will be some issues and trial and error

Thanks for the reply. My girlfriend doesn't like change to much so let's see how this goes ha!
I'd suggest trying AOKP JB Milestone 1 or any CM10 or CM10.1 nightly. Personally the most stable rom I've ever been on was the CM10 nightlies
i was running the aokp pub build and found that it was a complete battery hog. i found google to be quite laggy with the pub build. now im running helly bean 4.2, the build that was put out a couple of days ago, and every thing is peachy. i havent had any reboots and only a couple fc's. im pretty new to flashing roms but this is what ive found..... good luck.
these roms have extended the life of an old device until i find a phone i like. props to the devs. you all are AMAZING!!!!!!!
I've been running Helly Bean 4.2.1 for a week or two now. I haven't noticed any major bugs, though, as it is the newest version, it does take up a significant amount of RAM, so just be ready for some lag.

I've never seen this option in Helly Bean. I've also never had this problem... What you could do, if you really liked ADW is continue to use it as your launcher on this rom, from what I've seen it can do basically everything any ICS+ launcher can do. Or you can try Nova/Apex launchers.

I've never seen this option in Helly Bean. I've also never had this problem... What you could do, if you really liked ADW is continue to use it as your launcher on this rom, from what I've seen it can do basically everything any ICS+ launcher can do. Or you can try Nova/Apex launchers.

really? you've never had an icon move accidentally or one of your icons move off the dock bar? it doesn't happen that often but i want to lock it so it has to be unlocked in order to remove an icon.
i really didnt want to use adw ex because it puts its own spin on jelly bean and i like the hellybean rom. i think hellybean is basically pure android. i think!!
