May be not enough space ... You need at least 60MB free for the Offline versions and 30MB free for the Online versions.

Hey, thanks for this! I had this working already on my phone, but didn't have the voice pack. It was the same old monotone robot like voice. Followed this, and it works great on my Xperia Ion!

Found a bug
Google Now works great, really nice features.
But I've found a little bug in combination with the SXS Alarms & Clocks app.
When I say "Set alarm for 10 pm", Google Now will set the Alarm, but it always goes off without sound.
The problem is that in the advanced settings, the last option "Time before automatic mute" is set to 0 minutes.
I don't think that it can be fixed, just posting the problem.

What is the difference between the velvet.apk given by you and the velvet.apk given by cajunflavoredbob for the m6 version...

How to exit? Back button is not working, any fix for this?

can't copy files in /system
i have about 350 mb available on phone memory, but while coping it says "not enough space"
is there any way to increase size of /system??

You need at least 60mb of FREE memory in system, you only have 10mb free.
You could use titanium backup pro and convert system apps (in red) to user apps by long pressing on them and clicking "convert to user app"
You should probably only do this for apps you've installed yourself from the playstore and leave the standard phone apps alone. backup the data first, as moving the apps sometimes causes them to forget everything, eg my facebook app needed me to sign in again and redo the sync.

will this work in xperia mini pro sk17i running rooted stock .587 :fingers-crossed:

Thank you very much. I have something to do when I get home now
Ive been trying to install memo.apk on the Vibrant6 rom and the app never shows in drawer and when I copy over the odex file. When I reboot my phone loads up gets to the Samsung S and then everything goes black, but the bottom buttons will light up luckly I can pull the battery and reload my Nandroid backup.
/system/app/
I've been using Root Explorer and Su File manager with no luck.
I'm starting to feel a bit stupid here. I at first made sure the permissions of the files where the same as the files in /system/app with no luck.

I tried downloading from the first links to the apps and from yours. I have both the original Musicplayer.apk and .odex files in the /sdcard/ folder but the application does not install. I'm on ASOPish 1.1 Froyo.UVJK2.
What I'm trying to get from that app is the feature it has that it enables you to listen to the call from whatever is plugged into the 1/8 jack - in this case, earphones or my aux jack in the car, which was very handy for handsfree calling on the road.

3.- change permisions to
User X X 0
GroupX 0 0
others X 0 0
4.- install the app using root explorer. click on the app and select install
i synced my exchange account and everything seems working fine. cheers thanks alot

workemail.apk works excelent (push email) but you cant sync contacs . so i suggets you to sync contacts with the emai.apk and pull your email with the workemail app.
I want this as well. Id like to use the built in calendar widget with my exchange calendar.
while you guys are searching some threads back, there was one which APK for both Calendar and eMail provided but they are not installable. There are some modifications need to be done which probably no one has touched them yet.
See if you can work around them.
I've been trying to get the vanilla SMS app working but with no luck. There is an issue with the display picture on the Message list screen. (See Screenshot). Anyone had any luck with these? I know the Sony SMS app is so slow its painful to use.
Here is a link to a thread that has the original email apk. Does anyone know how to install it. I was trying to get it on by cmd, but no luck. At the same time i uninstalled my original email.apk. So does anyone know how to get that too?

when we get the custom rom(SOON) then it should have the stock email app. I am not sure if it worths to dedicate time into this issue. I hate this as well but It won't kill me for little more time.

I take that back, it worths the investigation (with smart people) I couldn't make it work the first try but I bought the Moxier when I had 1.6.

It worked. When you copy to system/apps then click and hold on email.apk (you just copied) and select permission and check all the options. Reboot and works.
That is amazing...
Too bad stock 2.1 email has so limited exchange active sync support! 2.2 one is light years ahead. Too bad it won't work on 2.1..
The only hope of relatively good exchange active sync support is custom rom (2.2) or moxier/touchdown.

[Tool+Flashable] Bloat Remover Tool for Note 2

Tired of having unused apps in your massive app drawer?
Tired of useless apps taking up space on your phone?
Then you've come to the right place!
Now also in a simple flashable .zip file for those who prefer that!
All credit goes to eaglerazor123 for the original debloat tool for GS III, i simply modified it and included all the apps for the Note 2 instead.
What does this do? It simply removes the bloatware that is bundled with the stock rom and some custom roms.
It removes such apps as ChatOn, Help Manual, AllShare, SamsungApps, etc etc. (You can see the whole list by opening the Debloat.bat file).
Requirements:
1) CWM Recovery with ADB
2) USB Drivers to connect with ADB
3) A rooted phone
4) Phone connected to your PC with USB Debugging enabled
Follow these simple instructions: (There is a Instructions.txt file included in the zip file as well)
1) Take a backup of your apps (With for example Titanium Backup)
2) Unzip the .rar folder
3) Double click on Debloat.bat
4) Follow the on screen instructions
5) Nothing, because you're done!
Download Link is in the attachments

Has to be done via pc correct?
Good work. This will surely help a lot of people out with no need for creating sh-scripts etc.
I tried the app but already had everything removed manually myself

I didn't focus on freeing RAM when making this tool, i focused on simply removing the annoyance of having 30+ apps in your app drawer that you never ever used, and to stop them from taking up space in various backups such as Titanium Backup and Nandroids.
But removing them will free up some RAM aswell, as they would normally start background processes and updates when they are installed, even when not opened.

Perhaps, but i don't need or want them. People can always choose to re-install their backups of the apps they actually want to keep afterwards
Had to register to say thank you! I remember how much I wanted something like this when I updated my SGSII all the time.
No more manually deleting crap. You're the best.
Yeah, there is a bit of junk in its trunk lol.

It's basically all or nothing.
You can manually edit the debloat.bat with notepad and remove the apps from the list that you want to keep though.

I made a flashable .zip file for those who prefer to have that, so you don't have to connect to a PC to run the .bat file but can simply flash this straight after a ROM instead and remove the bloat even before you boot into the ROM
Flashed today via mobile odin the cwm zip to 4.1.2 dmb5 and worked as dev said. Thanks 4 this. Replied to keep it alive.

The biggest issue with this is working around the very limited amount of space we have in our /system. Before installing these things, you first need to clear out some space. I recommend having at least 23MB free before proceeding. I’m sorry that this requires so many steps right now; I might eventually start baking this into a ROM and releasing that, but for now, this is what we have to work with.
1) Freeing space
I recommend using a root browser to navigate to /system/app and inspecting what apps seem to be the largest. The ones that might be unnecessary should be uninstalled or converted to user apps via titanium. I recommend converting movie studio to a user app and uninstalling Cyanogenmod wallpaper manager as it’s pretty unnecessary and occupies several precious megabytes of space. Trebuchet wastes a whopping 17MB of space, so I recommend installing Apex Launcher or the stock 4.2 launcher (located in the SkyDrive folder) and then removing this with Titanium. You should also go to /system/media/video and clear out the files there since you don’t really need them for anything. Sound effects in /system/media/audio (with the exception of the ui folder) can be migrated to media/audio on the internal SD card to maintain function and free up some more space.
2) Installing TouchWiz apps
Right now, I have found TouchWiz Home and Weather widget apps that work with this ROM. I have located 4.1-compatible S Memo and Task Manager, but haven’t gotten those to go in yet. Now that you have plenty of space in /system, we can start adding things in.
a) Installing the theme
In the SkyDrive folder, you will find a Titanium Backup file for a TouchWiz CM10 theme. Copy this to the /storage/sdcard0/TitaniumBackup (or wherever you have it set to be) folder, launch Titanium, and restore the app. Go to System Settings > Themes and pick TouchWiz 5.0 and hit apply. Ignore the resolution warning.
b) Installing the launcher/weather widget
Push the “TouchWiz 5 Nature Launcher” zip to your SD card and install from CWM/ROM Manager. If it does not show up after rebooting, try clearing defaults from the launcher. If the problem persists, navigate to /system/app using a file browser and select/install both AccuweatherWidget.apk and AccuweatherWiddget_Main.apk files along with SecLauncher2.apk
c) Adding system sounds
There should be a “media” folder on SkyDrive. Right-click this and select “Download” to download the entire thing at once. Push the files to your internal SD card / media. Copy the contents of the ui folder to /system/media/audio/ui, overwriting the default Android files.
And that should be it! Not exactly a streamlined process, but it’ll do until we see a release of RemICS-JB for our device.
Screenshots
Video
Great job. Two things though, the touchwiz launcher is pretty laggy for me. It just seems to skip animations. Also could you add color to the WiFi signal? I'm really used to having a gray signal bar mean no internet. Other than that, it looks and works great.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Check what things you have running in the background. I'm in the habit of limiting background processes to two, and everything on the device is pretty snappy then.
I think that's gray because we're using the original wifi drivers rather than the newer ones that are capable of displaying up/down connection indicators but are less reliable, but I'll look into it.
I did a little Photoshoping and the icons should now be green (install the backup located in the folder I named "theme green wifi"), but I have no way to test it right now because there is no WiFi here. Just switch to the system theme and back and you should be golden.
How do you install the stock 4.2 launcher?

The TouchWiz launcher is in a .zip. The Android 4.2 launcher is optional and a separate .apk file.

then just push the Android-4.2-launcher.apk file to your SD card or USB storage and install it from a file manager if you want that.

[HELP] Making Gallery.apk working on my phone

Hi, all!
I need expert help and advice in trying to get a certain GalleryGoogle.apk (Gallery + Camera + Video Camera app) working on my phone.
This GalleryGoogle.apk was included inside a package called "4.2 Google Apps" I found here on XDA.
Its a cwm-flashable .zip that includes GalleryGoogle.apk along with DeskClockGoogle.apk (Clock), GmsCore.apk (Google Services) and also LatinImeGoogle.apk (Android Keyboard with gesture typing).
All those apps I tested to be working on my phone, except the GalleryGoogle.apk. The Camera, Panorama and Gallery itself work but whenever I go to the video camera, as soon as I press record, it catches a frame, then force closes, recording a clip that's barely a second in duration.
The reason why I'd like to replace my phone's stock Gallery.apk is because I'm creating a ROM and I'd like to give the camera the PIE-like UI. Now I'm not quite familiar in compiling/decompiling apks so I thought I should ask for all of your help.
Also, I'm not sure if it would be any help, but the cwm-flashable package also included a folder named "lib" which includes the following files:
libjni_latinimegoogle.so (I think this is for the keyboard. The rest, I don't know what they're for)
libjni_filtershow_filters.so
libjni_mosaic.so
liblightcycle.so
I've put a MediaFire link for a .zip file that contains the following files:
Phone's Stock Gallery.apk (Odexed)
Phone's Stock Gallery.apk (Deodexed)
GalleryGoogle.apk from the 4.2 Google Apps.zip
4.2 Google Apps.zip that contains the lib.so files
I hope you guys can help me out with this one!
I'd also try and see if I can grab a logcat for the force close I was getting whenever I try to record a video.
just bumping this up... :/
Did you push all the apps into system/app and give them proper permissions? And the lib files are necessary for the app to work. So place it inside system/lib and give them the correct permissions too

Yes. I went and made sure everything's copied to the correct path with the right permissions, rebooted, still no go. :/

What build of jb are you trying to put the 4.2 camera on? I'm currently trying different gallery apk from 4.2 on my 4.1.2 ROM. I tried many gallery apk files and found one or two weren't compatible and forced closed on me.
Have you tried using a different gallery apk from another 4.2 ROM? And did you wipe data and cache before removing the old gallery? Have you tried wiping the cache, dalvik and fix permissions from CWM after putting the files in your system?
This is the gallery apk I'm using http://db.tt/wfjAV9j1 pulled from slim bean 4.2
I currently trying to figure out how to get the night mode under ISO setting working on 4.1.2

It's 4.1.2 jellybean. Wiped data and cache always and also fix permissions each and everytime. I tried the apk you attached, unfortunately it did not work for me as well. Camera and Panorama works flawlessly. Video Camera is the only thing not working. What's interesting is only the rear camera doesn't work on video recording, but the front camera works.
