[Help]Galaxy S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm really desperate and I think I just screwd my S2; so a little help would be really really nice !
I have a S2 which was previously on a "Resurrection-remix_ics" Version 2.4.1! I updated the version to Resurrection remix 3.0.2 but I forgot to "factory reset" the phone before going to recovery mode and updating the version...
Now the phone won't load, It gets stuck on the loading screen...
If you have any Idea what I could do to fix it, please notify me! Is it possible to put the previous version in the SD card, and just downgrade the version...?

Yes, I still can do that!
Btw, before flashing the rom, I did DO the following in the recovery mode:
wipe data/ factory reset
-- wipe cahe partition
-- advanced > wipe dalvik cache

If u can enter the recovery just flash the older version

Stuck on boot screen after NEAT rom install

I did everything I was supposed to do, first succesfully rooted the phone. Then I put the zip file with the rom into the sd card and then went into recovery mode, installed file from zip and it said success in install so I chose to reobot and now it hangs there... Any one can help me out? I'm scared...

A bit more details. What phone model? What were you trying to flash? Where does it hang, on the Samsung boot animation, or in the recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Galaxy s2 international (gt 19100). It hangs on the boot logo, which now is a yin yang with ics on it, I guess this is a NEAT thing. I can go into recovery mode, it just hangs if I try to boot normally.

The yin yang boot logo is actually the kernel. (Siyah)
You should probably try a factory reset/wipe data from recovery. This will alleviate 90% of boot loops and stuck on boot issues.
How do I do that?

You just said above you can boot to recovery... Once you are in recovery mode, can you not follow the recovery menu system to find the wipe data/factory reset option? It should be pretty straightforward.
I'm not running Siyah, so I don't know what the exact menu item is called in the recovery image that is in that kernel.
I tried that but it still does the same thing... any other tips?

Actually, let's take a couple steps back.
What model phone do you have? It's printed on the label under your battery.
it says model GT-i9100

Ok. Are you SURE you're doing a wipe data/factory reset when in recovery? If so, then I'd flash a stock firmware, full wipe again, then try the Neat ROM install again.

Find all you need to know here.
As an easy rule before installing any new ROM (that isn't an upgrade from a previous version ex. Cm10 builds or if otherwise stated ) wipe data , cache and dalvik cache , which is under advanced

go back

format system

Next time post questions in Q & A thread,, BTW dont panic. Download any ROM, then wipe data, cache and in advance, wipe dalvik, Install zip from SD card. Done ur phone ll boot up.. If this doesnt help then final is flash thru ODIN check the baseband of the phone then download from SAMFIRMWARE
After a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik), you should also format the /system partition and the internal SD card (save important files before). Then flash or install via recovery the ROM and everything should be ok.
Thank you everyone but when i press the power+volume dwn+home button it takes me to odin mode but not the normal screen from where i can wipe/format and do other stuff. How can i go to that recovery screen?

Volume up + home button + power button simultaneously. hold all of them until the samsung logo appears, then just leave the power button. Should boot into recovery.

Take the battery out
Redownload ARHD, it might not have finished while it was downloading. Once downloaded completely, flash it via recovery with "install from sdcard" option.

I've formated the /system and /cache, and reflashed (I9300XXDLIB_I9300OXFDLI1_I9300XXDLIB), now it's working again, now i'll try to do revolution hd again
i think i'm doing it wrong, re downloaded ARHD, after doing what i saied tryied to do ARHD again, and the problem reshowed!
In that case its either a bad download or user not following the instructions .
Question and Answer thread for ARDH rom is working .

And I know this is probably a stupid question, but have you got CWM installed? You're not trying to flash from a stock rom are you?

This is called bootloop I guess. Suggest u remove the battery and after putting it back go into recovery mode ie vol up + home + power simultaneously. Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache from advanced and reinstall miui v 4 via cwm. This should work.

In worst case, you just need to run RSD to flash your original firmware (but never try to flash 2.3 version)

[Q] Bricked device

Hello,
I have rooted my device and have CM10.1 installed (already months ago).
My kids did something and now the device is stuck on the CM boot screen.
I can boot into the CWM recovery (unfortunately there is no backup present).
I did a factory reset/wipe cache/wipe david cache.
This did not solve the problem.
I wanted to use Odin1.85 to flash a new rom, but Odin can not connect to my device.
I downloaded the Samsung mobile drivers and tried the version 1.3.15 and version 1.3.25 drivers.
When I go to the "Download Mode" and connect the cable to the device (with Odin already started), I get the message on my laptop that the "device is not recognized". On the device the message "waiting USB cable" keeps showing.
I tried to connect with ADB but then when I try to see my device "ADB devices" the list shows nothing.
So I think it is a driver problem, not sure.
My laptop is running Windows 7.
Anyone got any idea what to do??
Any help is much appreciated!!
Do you have any ROM zips in your SD card? If so, wipe system, data, cache and dalvik in recovery and flash that ROM.

No I don't have any roms on the device.
Wished it was so easy.
Well I can't help much since I don't know what your kids did. All I can say is just try to get Odin to be able to recognize your tab, but you already know that.
BTW, here's the driver that I use. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/GT-P7510MAYXAB

Thanks for the link.
Did try the drivers you are using, but that also is not working.
I will try to get another laptop and see if it is working on there.
I reinstalled all drivers of my laptop, but to no avail!
I (un/)installed several Samsung USB drivers but all I tried did not help.
So my next step will be first try it on another laptop (I did not get hold of another laptop yet)..
Stupid, stupid.
I had a nightly in the cmupdater folder.
I did wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
Then I installed the nightly from the cmupdater folder.
Rebooted the device but it still hangs on the startup screen of Cyanogenmod.
Any other ideas or is it now really bricked!

There should be boot.img within the cm's zip file.
Check it
or
reflash the rom again and perform the full wipe.

I know there is a boot.img inside the cm rom. But I can not extract it from the rom since my tablet is stuck at the boot screen with the cm logo.
And it is not possible to flash a img from CWM recovery, only zip files.

put the stock rom on it if u want and flash it.
and i asked u for the tab details
use this
Hold down the power button and make sure it turns off. There might be a battery charging symbol on the screen once it’s off.
Hold down Volume Down, and then Power buttons. The tablet should power up. Wait till there are two icons.
Press the Volume Down button to toggle between which icon is selected. Make sure the LEFT (USB) icon is selected.
Press the Volume Up button to actually select. Now you are in “Fastboot” mode.
Plug the tablet into your computer’s USB port
