After a great success of ProximtyScreenOffLite (more than 68,000 downloads) I decided to take all the feedback and feature requests by users and improve the features and quality of the app.
Pro Features:
Pocket/Flip or Smart Cover Mode: Turns screen OFF when sensor covered and ON when uncovered. (Feature requested by Galaxy Note users)
Turn Screen On/Off with following gestures:
Swipe Once,
Swipe Twice,
Swipe and Hold,
Hold and Swipe and
Cover and Hold
Ignore Apps list: Add the apps/games where you want to disable the service
Widget: to start and stop the service
ScreenOff shortcut: to turn off the screen by launching the app.
Sensor Configuration : Based on your device select the sensor of your choice, or the one that's available and configure their values, as they are different for different devices.
Enable screen on/off during calls only
Disable call handling completely
Battery saving options: De-Activate sensors after timeout and De-Activate sensors when power button pressed or system goes idle.
Override power button and screen-on by other apps (Phone is in pocket and you get a call or you accidentally press the power button, screen will remain off)
Prevent accidental screen on
Vibration on screen On/Off
Tips on using Light sensor for tablets/phones
Value when sensor covered
Tip: if you choose light Sensor and if you vales range from 0 to >50, keep this at around 15 (Use the charts to see what values sensors give out)
Value when sensor un-covered
Tip: if you choose light Sensor and if you vales range from 0 to >50, keep this at around 16

been looking for something like this. thanks

Great app works good. Although one slight problem..
My phone seems to have random reboots and the power button seems to malfunction while the service is activated.
This typically happens when the phone is in my pocket
Additionally.. I don't quite understand how to make the 'swype screen to turn' function NOT make my screen flicker...as this usually takes 2-3 tries before I get it correct.
Thank you again!

Not sure what is causing reboots, however try to swipe slowly over the sensor and let me know if that works...
p.s: which phone and os version are you on?

Although, why can i swype fast to shut it off?
I'm running CM9 4.0.4 at 213 dpi on the ATT note
Thanks so much for replying!!

Fixed it in 3.2 Pro version, let me know if it works. (are you on pro/Lite version?)

Version v3.3 is out with lot of fixes and features:
☀ Fixed the InCallOnly mode, sensor is active only during the senor, thereby saving power.
☀ Added new battery saving feature: "De-Activate sensors after timeout". You can set a value in minutes and sensors will be de-activated after timeout and re-activated only when screen turns on.
☀ Upgraded the Ignore list UI and included even the system apps.

Thanks for the app. When the proximity sensor turns off the screen the screen pops back on at my pattern lock screen than stays of after about 10 seconds. Does this happen to others? I am on flapps UCLF6 ROM.

That's a known problem with few ics roms lock screen...
Try using miLocker or holo lock screen or try a different rom.

I just bought the pro version. 3.3 I am running FJ Mod build 4 ROM
I have the standard Samsung black flip cover.
I have the lock screen turned off.
It seems that the logic is not correct.
I am set to the flip mode.
When I close the cover nothing happens if the screen is on. If the screen is off then the screen turns on. This is not correct.
If the screen is off, then if I open the cover it turns on - this is correct.
The interesting part is that is I use my fingers to trigger the sensor, your app works fine.
Its only the cover closing when the screen is on that does not work - I have the vibrate on so I can tell when the app activates.
Please advise or fix or I can run a log if that is needed.

That's a common problem with some flip covers, can you try pasting a white piece of paper on the cover where the sensor is located, that will help the detection

Sure, will give that a shot - but what is weird to me is if the unit is off and I close the cover you detect that just fine. Just when the unit is on are you missing it. Can you give me a short explanation of why that is. If its something like light reflection, it would seem backwards to use white instead of black. Just wondering.
And yes the white paper works great - just looks a bit hokey.

v4.0:
New feature to save battery: sensors can be de-activated if power button is pressed or phone is idle (i.e, if app doesn't turn off the screen)
Fixed autostart after reboot
Fixed widget bug
Fixed Disable vibrate on ignored apps
Fixed override screenOn in non-flip cover modes

how i can double tap to wake in xiaomi redmi note 2

how?????
you can't
This seemingly small embellishment is just so darn useful it would be great if Xioami got around to incorporating it. I was using my old LG phone the other day to keep track of time while working on a dirty project, and the ability to double-tap to wake the screen with whatever portion of my fingers/knuckles which were clean at the moment was a real lifesaver. I forgot how truly useful it is, and I definitely miss it on the RN2!
try this en.miui.com/thread-125331-1-1 worked for me

Thanks, socolino, for the suggestion about the Knockr app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tecnology.angs.knockr). I've taken a look, and, of course, while this app does its best to mimic DT2W, it is pretty much a kludge. It basically just turns the screen black to simulate it being shut off, but it actually keeps the phone awake. So this means a massive hit on battery life. And there is other collateral, too, because the phone doesn't actually go to sleep. For example, the notification LED does not get activated because the phone is not actually sleeping. And supposedly the power button doesn't turn the screen on as expected (i.e. get rid of the black mask).
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion.
this feature is disabled in kernel, unless we will have source codes or xiaomi will anable this feature, there will be no dt2w

As a workaround, I use the WakeUp Touch L Free app. With the correct settings, it wakes the screen virtually every time by double tapping the proximity sensor. I haven't noticed any battery drain using it. Here are screenshots of the WakeUp Touch settings I use. Another couple of settings that are useful to modify: long press on WakeUp Touch in Notifications & assign it High Priority; lock WakeUp Touch in Recent Apps by dragging it down.
To turn the screen off via double tap, I use the Screen Off and Lock app in conjunction with Apex Launcher's double tap gesture [Nova & other launchers also have this gesture].

[APP]AMOLED Notification Light "NotifyBuddy"

Original Thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/app-amoled-notification-light-t3943715
So I was annoyed not having an LED notification light on oneplus 6t so I tried to make one of my own.
As OP6T has amoled display whenever a desired notification comes the app brings in a black screen with notification LED looking animation.
Though this is tested on OP6T, it should be working for most Android Oreo and later phones.
To use it:
Install App.
Disable Ambient Display and any battery optimisation for the app.
Give notification access permission.
Select apps you want notifications for, by choosing a color (Only apps you set a color to enables LEDs).
Note: 1. On successfully selecting a color for an app the text in which the App name is written should change to that color
2. Don't enable the LED for the "Phone App" as it will interfere when an incoming call is coming! Will fix this in next build
Thats it.
Note: To turn off the LED and to unlock phone double tap anywhere on the screen.
Also on pressing power button once the LED stops and on pressing it again it will bring you to lock screen.
App now available on Play Store, please rate and share if you liked the app.
Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy
Working Video: https://youtu.be/vFKiHS_ZD-k
If the app is not working check whether the Notification Service is running under Developer Option > Running Services, this service is required for the app to work as intended.
If it is not running after various troubleshoot measures, maybe send the logs.
Changelog:
Implemented burn in protection
Fixed proximity sensor bug
Switch enables LED with default color
Added search functionality
Now App list is sorted in alphabetical order
Fixed power button
Added settings for changing time interval and stop timer
Major bug fixes
Added System Apps
Added a switch to turn on/off notification LED
Give your feedback!!
Hi. I'm going to try it my question is if this would not burn the screen?
Can you explain how the stop timer works?

Nope it won't burn the screen as LED is shifting towards right every time.
Stop timer is the time after which the "LED" will stop after receiving notification.
please mention digits(seconds/minutes) in slider of led time interval & stop timer. working fine with S10.thanks
I couldn't make it work...
Great !!
Very simple & the first one that perfectly works with the screen off.
Next step a circle around the camera ?
Thanks for the work
It does use a bit of battery....
Great app. But the approximately Sensor doesn't responding. Does anybody confirm this?
If „don’t disturb“ is enable no notification light appears.
Is there any way of getting premium features without play services? I would love to use the unlock with fingerprint option

My changelog for MIUI 11

I just installed it about 2 hours ago, and I've noticed many new details that Xiaomi didn't mention. This will include most of the new, missing, broken things etc.
The 'new' changelog :
- New scrolling mechanism; it is now an ios clone, and I LOVE IT. It is super smooth! However, it only applies to system apps.
- Faster fingerprint unlock; it is noticeably faster. I'm still not sure if the bugs regarding the fingerprint reader is fixed though.
- The sleep/screen timeout option is now present; previously missing on MIUI 10 :/
- Blur app previews in multitasking; you can now select the apps you want to be blurred in the multitasking section.
- You can now view the battery % next to the icon; previously fixed to in the icon.
- Updated camera app; decreased delay when switching between lenses, stickers and filters in the 'short video' section. Processing is probably better.
- You now have the option to disable quick shortcuts on fingerprint reader
- Updated android boot logo
- Gesture stutters are completely gone!
- Notifications now stay permanently in the status bar!
The things that are missing/broken
- Still no voLTE option
- Audio is still 96kbps
- AI button settings keeps crashing
- Screen randomly turns on multiple times when charging (your mileage may vary)
Do let me know in the comments on what I'm missing

In eu rom 9.10.31 nothing of these.
I have a voLTE working, maybe you mobile provider is blocking this options. There a thread here on XDA about how to force unlock them.
Audio where? just checked in recorder, it's up to 192kbps.
AI button settings, works fine.
About screen on charging, may be i just haven't noticed

Well, this is an official OTA from Xiaomi themselves, eu is always better than the stock MIUI.

[APP] Arc Lighting - Notification Light for Oneplus 8

Arc Lighting adds a highly customizable ring of light around the camera cutout of your phone. You can use this light with various indicators such as audio visualization, notification lighting, critical or low battery warnings, as well as a charge indicator. The ring can also appear on your Always-On display. (to make aod work you need to make sure you have downloaded always on amoled and activated it, you also need to make sure samsung stock aod and samsung edge lighting is disabled under samsung display settings you also need to make sure that aod is enabled under arclighting with override set to off)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FibMTD5Mdx8
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S20, S20 ultra, S10e, and Note 10 and noteplus devices. Select a variety of colors, animations, and styles.
- Always show ring with various gradient effects (add multiple colors and make them spin for a visual experience)
- An adjustable glow effect that can be turned on or off (sometimes this can cause the light to freeze to a white glow this will be fixed)
- Notification lighting both when the display is on or off (update planned for only the lockscreen or only inapp)
- Music lighting that syncs the light to your music (does not work together with other indicators so other indicators will stop working if you enable music lighting this will be fixed)
- Battery indicator lighting for charging, low and critical battery states. (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appearm, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Device overheating indicator for gamers and power users (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Arc Lighting can be configured to match the color of your wallpaper, the app you're currently in, or both! (this only works for the only show ring and only when you set it to a solid color the option is not available for gradient colors which will be added later)
This app requires certain permissions to function correctly.
Accessibility: This permission is used for the ring to appear over your lock screen, always-on display, and for accessing the color of the current app you're in. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Draw Over Other Apps: This permission allows the ring to show on top of other apps. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Microphone Access: This permission is used to analyze the internal device audio for the music lighting. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to enable the Audio Visualizer indicator for the ring.
Storage Access: This permission is used to get the color of your wallpaper. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to use the color of your wallpaper for the ring.
Notification access: This permission is used to change the color of the ring after notifications
Burn-in concerns: Some Android displays may suffer from mild burn-in if a single item is displayed on the screen for an extremely significant amount of time. If you are concerned about this, feel free to enable the rotation animation in ring settings. That will ensure the display is constantly changing. Alternately, you can disable the default effect to only show the ring while an indicator is being triggered. Note: Samsung Galaxy devices come with burn-in protection that moves the pixels a little each time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
how do i disable individual notifications: currently this is a planned update, you can go into custom colors and set each app you don't want notifying to 100% transparent
light is constantly flashing even if i cleared all notifications: sometimes theres forced notifications such as when you're charging it will force a notification that says you're fast charging, the light will pick up on these you need to hold on these notifications and turn them off to stop the light there should be nothing at all in the notificationpanel, if you still have a flashing light with nothing in the panel contact me.
frozen light: music lighting will disable all other indicators same with battery indicator or battery temp indicator, you need to set custom zones otherwise the light will be frozen, glow also tends to freeze the light so turn that off if it's frozen (this will be fixed in a coming update)

Just tried it, and it doesn't work as you'd hope - the ring moves down with the adjusted screen position so it's no longer around the camera. I don't use my phone in that mode so it's not an issue for me.
On a happier note it's quite a cute app. Takes a bit of getting used to though.
One to watch out for: If the 'Enabled' switch is turned off (during the test process) then it drops the 'Accessibility Service' permission. Unfortunately the app doesn't realise that (seems to only test on app startup), so when you re-enable it the app then doesn't work (cos the Accessibility Service permission has dropped). To get around I 'force stopped' the app then started it again. It then does the service check and comes up with the pop-up.
Look forward to having a default 'Off' setting so I can enable only for a few specific apps - I have a lot of apps on there and setting them all to 100% transparent is more work than I fancy.
Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave

could you explain what you mean by ring moves with the adjusted position, and thank you for reporting the bug.
Hi! Is it possible to get a code for the oneplus 8 notification light app? I'd be glad to test it out !
Thanks
On my Oneplus 8 IN2013 your ring stays a little bit outside the camera hole.
The camera is a little bit lower and to the left.
DM me if you need help.
In my device too the ring is a bit off. I attached a screenshot
This is a great idea. I miss the LED indicator so much after I bought oneplue 8. The position of the ring is not accurate, however, it locates a little up-right of the camera. Hope you can fix it and I will definitly give it a try. Thanks.
Awesome app, like it a lot - is there a way to send some money your way to get rid of the ads, too?
Registered for the Beta, hope it fixes the position issue on the OnePlus 8
Update: Just paid for the full version, got the beta, but none of the cutout settings have any effect on my OnePlus 8, cutout stays in the wrong position.
it seems, the developer was not accounting for the oneplus 8 and 8 pro being different screen sizes please try this file and tell me if it works

Hi zzcool,
at my Oneplus 8 the cutout isn´t placed around the punch hole, the cutout position can´t be chanced either.
Cheers!
Can I get a code for the app too?
Just tried it on the OP8,
The ring is set slightly wrong. The camera is a bit to the left and lower.
There are several problems with the app (in my op8). The ring always appears even if you unlock the screen. The ring cannot be adjusted around the hole of the camera. And most importantly, for the ring to show me when the screen is off I have to have the "Override system" option activated, but when the ring is activated the fingerprint sensor also appears (and does not disappear). This can burn the screen over time and increase battery consumption.
Would love to have code for this one
Great work !!
I'd like a code for the premium edition if you'd be so kind?
I'll leave a review on the play store when I've used it
Thanks!

I used it on the S22 ultra and the previous devices as well. It is one of the first applications I download for all my Samsung devices. The S23 ultra also works perfectly. Again, many thanks for the development.
There is no way I can describe how useful this is for the Galaxy phones. Had it on S21ULTRA, carried it over to the S23ULTRA...a true life saver.
I even combined it with Professional Reminder so I never ignore missed calls and texts.
Two thumbs up for the app and its author.

Although I use these two applications. Perfect couple. It would be good if the knowledge of the prof reminder could be integrated into the aodNotify application.
Hi, is there anyway to also hide the finger print scanner icon? I just want to show the notification ring around the camera on the AOD. I also have the setting "AOD Manager" enabled. Previously, I used this on my pixel 6 pro and the icon was hidden.
I was just curious if the developer of this app was going to continue to develop the side actions button remapper? I noticed it is not on Play store anymore. I can't get the power button to work but the volume buttons still work. I know this is the wrong forum but I searched and couldn't find the other. Thanks.
What about battery? Is it drain a lot?

Yes, you can change this behaviour in the system's fingerprint settings: Settings > Security and privacy > Biometrics > Fingerprints > Show icon when screen is off. There you can set it to Never or Tap to show (like I did).

On my S23 aodNotity had about 1% battery consumption during the past 9 hours (during the night) ... and I received some notifications early this morning.
IMO this is really low and worth it.
Good to know!

Yes, I am also waiting for @Jawomo to release a kind of side actions app for the S23, or make it compatible for the S23. (The app ist still on Google Play, but not compatible for our devices. So, it is not listed when browsing with an S23 in Play store.)
Meanwhile I have set the double click action of the power button to launch the flash light "app": Settings > Advanced fatures > Side key > Double press > Open app and select "Torch".
Disadvantage of this solution is that I liked the camera to be launched be double clicking the power button. Now I must double tap the screen an drag the camera icon to start the camera app.

Have you tried "RegiStar" from good lock? It gives you a bit more setting for the side button. I currently have 2 press for camera and one long press for flashlight.
Hi, just purchased the full version as this is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you.
The one thing I don't seem able to control is the lock screen showing up after the notification disappear. I'm hoping I'm just being a numpty and have a setting somewhere which will sort this out for me. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

Please provide a little bit more information.
You mean lock screen or always on display?
So, your screen is off when a notification is received. A small notification bubble is displayed at the top for a short time (about 1 second), then it moves into the app icon and disapears. Then you should see the notification light (like set in aodNotify), and with aodNotify Manager app installed, the rest of the screen should be "black".
You should check your aodNotify settings in "General" section. There you can set always on display settings (mine is "Don't show"), enable aodNotify Manager (mine is enabled), and disable waking up the screen (mine is disabled).

Maybe it's a combination of aodNotify and system settings. Battery consumption is influenced by many different things.

Yes I always liked using my power button to double press for a screenshot long press for the power menu and then long press and hold for full screen UI. So right now I'm still using it but only using the volume buttons. So I have volume hold down and I get a screenshot and then in the regular settings I have double tap on the power button set to flashlight and long press set to power menu. So I'm looking forward to him updating it also.
