the browser is different - Forward and back buttons
holding the power button is diffferent - has three icons at the bottomsilent vibrate mute - and no top option - i think it was silent before
so some things more than the modem have changed
are there any more?

With BLG8 I have also three options with the powerbutton.
Mute, mute/vibrate and no mute.

The features the OP describe came with XXBLG8.
The only change with the update is the modem. Nothing in the firmware itself.

I bet if you searched "strange notification" or "what's this notification" you would find a thread about it. There's a couple everyday.
If you would have scrolled down its been asked a lot today.
Ain't having a go jus seen it so many times. I would have answered you anyway

I answered this the first 5 times, now it's just getting ridiculous.. I mean there is a toggle that looks exactly like that amongst the other toggles.. It should give a hint...

Try searching in Samsung's online user guide, search Google, search xda, but don't get grumpy when people tell you to search, that is the attitude that won't win you any help in future

[APP] CSC Changer

Hi everyone,
This is a simple (root) app I made to let you change your CSC on a number of firmwares across multiple Samsung devices. Simply push the button, and you will be sent to the list of CSC codes, where you can choose whatever CSC. Credits go to Perka, who thought of this and posted the method in this thread. I merely made an app to do it.
THIS WILL WIPE YOUR PHONE, LIKE PERFORMING A FACTORY RESET. MAKE BACKUPS OF WHATEVER YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE.
The files on your SD Card will not be touched.

Problem After Flashing Official UK's XXLA Firmware

Today i flashed official 4.1.2 XXLA Firmware of United Kingdom through KIES (thanks to the trick through which i forced the update, as 4.1.2 is not available in my country yet).
Overall functions and features are working flawlessly but i am having a bit of problem that whenever i open up my notification bar then the animation of shortcut icons (WLAN,GPS,Mobile Data, etc.) is not fluid and it gets worse when there is a list of available programs that have recently been installed or are currently being installed.
Is there a way to fix this ?
p.s. Below is the list of icons of which animation is really laggy

Check power saving mode is not on. And ive found when listening to music the animation from when u open the notification bar causes lag

Try a factory reset...
Do a factory reset and set force 2D rendering and animations in dev options to .5 (or off). You will notice an increase in UI performance.
OP:
That screenshot is not 4.1.2 JellyBean. Its ICS 4.0.4.
factory reset
or clear launcher data if you want to save apps & data
