Front Camera Not Accessible in ICS? - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Is it just me or does the ICS rom for MediaPad not support the front-facing camera?
I'm not sure when it happened, but I can no longer see any way to switch to the front-facing camera; I am not sure it wasn't there in ICS before, but I certainly can't find it now.
Any hints or advice? I am using the the "Olympic" custom kernel, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
UPDATE: I can confirm that switching back to stock kernel allows use of the front camera, so it must be an issue with the custom kernel.

I'm using stock & Olympic kernel. FFC option is present in camera app, works fine. Was missing in Osimood, though.

The TS problem already resolved by installing the modules in the kernel thread.

Its probably going to be fixed in the beta or prebeta3... and no it wintwork its the source code to implement the camera itself... you just have to wait, but I've heard angel camera works well in burst mode

CM7 does not include any motoblur in it. As such, the D3 camera app probably isnt going to work.
CM7 for the Atrix is currently marked as pre-beta. Look up what beta means in the software world to get a better understanding, but when you installed CM7 on your phone, you should have expected issues. Its not ready for every day use.
If you need a working camera app, download fastburst camera from the market or go back to a blur based rom.

Should probably offer some insight as to why not.
Anyway, to answer the question, no, no you cannot. The Samsung camera app has parts that are embedded within the touch wiz framework and simply will not work. My wording is probably off but it boils down to that. Even if you did manage to get the camera.apk from the stock ROM, it would probably just force close. You're best bet would be a ROM that uses some aokp parts along with touch wiz.
Thanks for the replies.
I ended up finding a camera in the Play Store, its called HDR Camera, and I took pictures w/ stock AOSP ICS Camera, TW Camera and HDR Camera, and the quality of the HDR is AMAZING!!!!! It doesn't have the same amount of features, but the quality is great.
Aokp Camera
Does this camera have the same shutter speed as the stock camera, or does it just apply default from the processor.

Anyone using camera 360?

When running camera 360 the screen seems to be out of wack. The image seems tilted and distorted. However, I when switching to the ffc and back it fixes the problem.
Anyone else have this issue? I'm on aokp m6 and the same thing happens on devil toast 0.74

Try using an updated version because it may have compatibility problems if you are using ICS.
The app kinda sucks anyway. But I think it's free and probably one of the better free ones. I users camera zoom fx, much nicer. But I always go back to the stock camera for some reason, got cool mods camera mod installed so it's a big improvement over htc's

I flashed the cool mods camera mod and compared to the camera 360. The pics do not appear as crisp and clear as with camera 360 .
To the other post, I have the most current version of the app installed

I think UCam is the best free camera app. I'm thinking of paying and going pro! Try it out and see how it works. I can use the feedback so I can install it on my sisters EVO3D.

It just kept crashing for me when taking a pic
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I can take the pic just fine. However, it is the preview that is distorted. It happens with Ucam, Camera360, and sometimes with Camera Zoom FX
EDIT* I believe it was the aokp rom I was on. I flashed sense 4.0 and no longer have the issue.

Stock camera app on ICS roms?

Hi everyone,
Here is a simple question:
Is it possible to port the stock froyo samsung camera app to work in an ICS rom? The samsung camera app is much better than the ics camera app.
It looks like the camera has many dependency packages in the lib folder.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
...You're probably gonna have a hard time finding the stock Samsung app because:
1) It is most likely copyrighted by Samsung
2) You are most likely the only person on earth who prefers the Samsung camera over stock ICS.
The stock camera app can be easily found in the stock rom or in most froyo custom rooted roms. The stock samsung app is better in every way. It has more modes, adjustments, and better panorama.

I've used the stock Samsung app on my Vibrant, and I prefer the stock ICS app in every way. The panorama mode is far superior in my opinion, not to mention the nicer UI, the faster shutter, and the option to shoot video and pictures simultaneously on certain phones/ ROMs. It is unlikely that the Samsung camera will be ported to ICS/JB simply because there would have to be a lot of changes made for compatibility, and most people prefer the stock ICS/JB camera.

Really, the stock ics camera I used was unstable and the panorama will sometimes not save. The panorama also takes forever to generate. What rom did you use? I was using ics passion

I was using SlimRom, its really lightweight and fairly stable, since it has gone through several iterations. You can find it at slimroms.com. It has OTA updates as well, although those are kinda hit-or-miss.

[Q] samsung stock camera on an aosp rom(root box)

Ho everyone, I've been having a great time with root box. I was a bit discouraged about using an aosp rom(because of all the extra features that Samsung roms have (ultima rom ) but the multitasking lag that I suffer from it was gone the moment i changed to an aosp rom. I miss some things about samsung roms, but otherwise I quite happy I did the change. But the only thing that I think is the best for me is the Samsung camera app. It has far superior quality and functions over the aosp one even though its faster in opening. But it lack the low light conditions that the Samsung one has(and don't tell that they has the same quality because it doesn't)
So to sum it up I wannna know if i can have the Samsung camera app over my rom( root box for the ones who skipped my intro) or something that I could do to use that camera. I know that there are some persons out there that could have the same question so i hope this can help them and that somebody gives any idea, thanks.

No matter what camera you install, all will act roughly the same. Completely the same regarding lowlight conditions.
If you need a better camera, go back to Crapwiz.

Well by seeing the suggestion you are giving i will try to do dual boot with siyah kernel with a tw rom. Any suggestions about a light one, just to use the camera.

Well you could compile the camera apk with all the dependencies built into it (harder than it sounds). We did it back in the S1 days.
