Widget selection screen - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I find this widget selection screen clumsy and ugly in Touchwiz, it's much better in GolacherEX and other launchers.
Anyone know how to make it display widgets list alike, like it was before?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

long press home screen, select widgets from menu....job done

Thats exactly how widgets look when i do that, this was like this on SGS3Touchwiz, Galaxy S2 had this list alike widget list, also had mod that same widgets were grouped together.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

ah, my bad, I'm using nova launcher which gives the old style list, must be touchwiz way then....change launcher

Nah...first time now i like how stock launcher looks, nova is ugly.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

If you need stock TW launcher then I think you need to get used to it. This is how stock ICS launcher handles widgets and apparantly sammy didn't bother changing it.. But I kinda like it.

Lots of things sammy dont think, they should have listen the users more. Nova is ok, Golauncher seems better, but i stick with stock till someone makes new hacked version of this touchwiz.
I really like how stock launcher change pages, havent seen so cool looking on any launchers even they have more options to change it.

I do like TW launcher but what bugs me a lot is the way TW launcher create folder. Samsung choose to use ICS style on the widgets but decided not to use ICS style on adding folder. Doesn't make any sense. :banghead:

Maybe use apex launcher and then choose touchwiz theme as design? Dunno if that fits all your needs though

I use sslauncher and hitting the menu key gives the traditional.Samsung options, like settings / wallpaper and long press the screen gives options for Widgets etc.

Homescreen transition animation will never be the same
And of course the clock widget will be gone. So not fit to my need.

Plus its free and offers much more functionality than other launchers.
It even supports some absurdly high number of home screens (it 'was' 30 but I dont know if they reduced this or not).
Offers everything you are looking for + the ability to hide apps (useful for those of us who havent gotten around to rooting / debloating yet) and has a pretty low memory footprint. Has alot of features other paid launchers have too.

[Q] Nova | Apex | Trebuchet? (AOKP)

I have tried both and for me they are exactly the same, therefore believe opinions from others will help me decide on which to use. Also once I choose one as default just in case how would I switch to the other? This might also be because I usually like to keep my homescreen(s) clean by only having one and the rest of my apps simply in the drawer.
Apex Launcher. To restore defaults so all your launchers come up again, go to apps settings, choose your launcher, and hit clear default.

There are more overall and free options with Apex Launcher. It's stable, I never get freezes, i like the gestures, and it's fast. Give it a try while it's still free. You can always change it.

I like Nova over Trebuchet. The fact that you can backup and restore you layout is helpfull after a wipe.
I've tried both Nova and Apex, and they are very similar. I didn't notice any difference in performance/smoothness between the two. Apex has a few more customization options though, so I'm sticking with it rather than Nova.
I'm using Go Launcher EX. I've tried a few other launchers and they just don't have as many customization options as Go. More transitions, more themes, etc. And you can backup settings as well.

The new nova v1.12 is so far better then all the others
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I don't like apex because of the overuse of the setting button's section and I like nova better than trebuchet because its much more easily customized
Sent from America
Apex is good launcher however the backup settings did not work as I had expected when I went to restore expecting home screens and Widgets being restored. Nova on the other hand worked perfectly for backup and restore. Buying prime brings nova to a whole new level. Trebuchet is not bad but both nova and apex are better choices with nova being the best!

Charlie

Coming from iOS I didn't like Apex at first because of the inability to create folders in the app drawer. After using it for awhile now though, I think it's my favorite. Have not tried Nova yet however.

But, iOS only gives you a app drawer not a desktop.
So just pretend your desktop is the drawer and create the folders there.

I like Nova Prime as it is very customized for the home screen.....
I was tempted to use Trebuchet over Nova because it seems overall slightly more simple and intuitive, but running the 4-25 build of AOKP, Trebuchet had some choppy animations where Nova was smooth.
I haven't tried any others yet.

Just use Apex or ADW (New version kicks ass)..
Hide the docks, use multiple screens and have it place an icon on the desktop for new applications.
Be like iOS but with widgets.. Ain't seen anything with no app drawer really.. Those Windows launchers maybe?

Dude, seriously, if you don't want to move your finger a few times at initial setup and keep replying "I want this ONLY", do it yourself.
You've been offered a bunch of alternatives that will behave just the way you want, except that they'll need 5 minutes of your time to set up.

What launcher do you prefer on your note 2?

Nova launcher
I initially installed CleanRom 3.5 with the Nova launcher option, but felt that visually it seemed slower to open the app drawer and switch screens, probably because of the animation? So I stuck to TouchWiz, and am pretty happy with it. I could be completely off base; I feel like TouchWiz is one of the better android skins, definitely better than sense.

I'll give it a shot. I love trying out launchers . I do wish somebody would try something radically different when it comes to launchers (not just an iOS-esque type layout).

I find Nova to be BY FAR the smoothest/fastest launcher there is.
I have the paid versions of both Nova and Apex. I don't even bother installing Apex anymore.
TW is OK if you don't want any of the custom options that a launcher like Nova gives you, but Nova is every bit as smooth as TW after you play with the options a little (on any ROM)
I think the new ADX launcher is amazing, a lot of cool features like widget previews, fast and all the customization. It's won me over.
This is also the first device I've used that TSF Shell is great on. Perfect size for it.

What's everyone using as a launcher?

Just curious if people prefer stock or a replacement launcher?

Nova.
I used ROM Cleaner to remove the sense launcher.
Ha I was also wondering this. Was just about to ask and saw this thread. I was wanting to make a sleek simple homescreen and someone said I couldn't change icons with stock launcher.
How easy is it to switch back and forth between launchers?
As easy as installing from the play store and running it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
But would it keep all the settings. Like could you set up two different launchers and have them set the way you want. Then just feel like going to a different look one day just because you feel like it lol.
Yes. A launcher is just an app like any other app. Settings get saved.
Nova, have used it since I got my Galaxy S2. Love it easy backup/restore change icons individually, and more!
Just installed Nova Launcher and gotta say its pretty cool. Here's what I created. Just two questions. Can nova launcher make the status bar clear? And I used simple text to change icons on the dock but it has black background behind the words. Can I make that clear somehow.
